Action for Conservation is a grassroots charity using pioneering approaches to inspire and empower young people from diverse backgrounds, between the ages of 12 and 24, to become the next generation of environmental leaders. We're looking to appoint a Senior Programmes Manager - North West (Maternity cover) to help us shape and manage our programmes for young people nationally and lead our work in the North West.

About the role

As Senior Programme Manager, you will have the opportunity to shape our work nationally as well as lead our programmes in the North West of England, enabling us to grow our reach, deepen our impact and ultimately deliver our mission. Your work will ensure that across our programmes we offer young people meaningful and impactful opportunities to take action for people and the planet and have a voice in shaping the future of our landscapes. 

You will work closely with and report to the Head of Impact and Programme Operations. You will also line manage the other regional Programme Managers and a team of two Programme Coordinators in the North West, and will collaborate with the Land-Based Projects and Policy Lead and the Land-based Project Coordinator at the intersection of our youth programmes and land-based work.

With support from your manager and in consultation with the other regional Programme Managers, you will translate our annual programme strategy into a robust cross-regional implementation plan covering both programme design and operations and make tangible improvements to enhance efficiency and impact across our regions. You will also be responsible for ensuring that our programmes are delivered as planned, to a high standard in line with best practice and cohesively across regions, and that regional objectives and targets in the North West are achieved.

The ideal candidate will be a highly capable and experienced project/programmes manager and team leader with a proven track record of motivating and supporting others to achieve the best possible outcomes for your team and your programmes. 

Key responsibilities

• Lead Action for Conservation’s work in the North West, ensuring that regional targets and objectives are achieved and supporting the expansion of our programmes and projects in line with our organisational strategy.

• Support the cross-regional planning and management of our programmes to ensure that programmes are delivered on time and to budget, to a high standard and cohesively across regions. 

• Line manage the other regional Programme Manager and the North West Programme Coordinators, providing leadership, guidance and support as needed.

Ambitious Impact (AIM) is a growing nonprofit organisation running training and incubation programs aimed at establishing and supporting a flourishing high-impact, effectiveness-focused philanthropic ecosystem, with a lively community office in East London.

We are looking for a talented Communication and Marketing Manager to join our Recruitment team to increase the quality of AIM’s communication, and our identification of exceptional talent to join our high-impact training programs. In this role, you will create, execute, and evaluate multi-channel marketing and communications strategies and continuously evaluate and improve them for the next iteration.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Recruitment team currently consists of ~three FTE and fulfils the two key functions of attracting and selecting top candidates for our Charity Entrepreneurship incubation program  - as well as possible support for other programs AIM runs or may run. As such, there are two 3-4 month sprints each year that are very execution focused for identifying and then selecting top candidates. The recruitment team also carries out broader communications work for AIM, such as by supporting AIM’s Impactful Grantmaking Program, on outreach for staff roles at AIM, and helping our incubated charities with their initial communications.

As Communication and Marketing Manager, you will chiefly be responsible for the attracting function on the team, presenting AIM’s work in a consistently high fidelity, compelling, and engaging manner. You’ll bring a strong focus on implementation, efficiency, and strategic improvement to help us maximise the value of AIM’s communication efforts.

The role could be more junior or more senior depending on the successful candidate: A more experienced hire will take more of a lead on designing the strategy they will execute, while a more junior hire will focus more on contributing to and learning strategic planning for the tasks they will execute at first.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Executing Marketing & Communications Activities - 40%

• Implementing and (co-)designing integrated multi-channel marketing campaigns across digital, traditional, and in-person channels (such as our website, newsletter, LinkedIn, job boards, and conferences)

• Identifying and persuading top talent to apply for our programs through 1:1 engagement - such as through LinkedIn, email, and online calls 

• Soliciting and collating referrals for potential top applicants to our programs, especially from members of our community and affiliated organisations

• Managing communication with candidates before, during, and after the application phase, handling special cases and queries about our processes

Communication Asset Management and Development - 20%

• Manage communications content and assets: Create and improve materials for AIM, such as our websites, newsletter, blog, photos, and video content from our programs

• Write and edit copy across the spectrum of our communications assets

• Take up ad hoc asset-focused tasks for other departments, such as copy editing research reports for the research team, capturing footage of the in-person weeks of our programs, and providing initial design support for new charities we incubate

Planning Marketing & Communications Strategy - 10%

• Co-designing our marketing and communications strategy on the basis of collected data

• Working with our Senior Selection Manager Bret on aligning our marketing efforts with our selection processes and optimising both for successful applications

• Refining our marketing models from initial exposure to application, improving existing steps and identifying new high-potential opportunities

• Market research and analysis: Updating internal models of our target audiences and identify the best ways to reach them

FUTURE GROWTH TRAJECTORIES

Future growth trajectories for excelling hires could look like:

• Taking more, up to full responsibility for the entire attracting function of the Recruitment team

• Learning more about the selection function of the Recruitment team and splitting the role into combining work on the attraction and selection functions

• Leaning into a less executing-focused and more people management-focused position as Director of Recruitment as we will most likely hire or internally promote someone to this position in mid-2025

ABOUT YOU

This role will likely suit early-stage and mid-level communications/marketing generalists or specialists (0-5 years of experience) and could be tweaked significantly in responsibility to suit a senior communications/marketing specialist. At minimum, you should already be able to execute high-quality work across a range of communications tasks, combining some existing skills with an excitement to grow in new areas and contexts which may be less familiar. You will likely consider yourself as a communications-focused generalist to some degree, able to quickly learn and improve at tasks you have little or no previous experience with.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Our application processes aim to be highly predictive, time-effective, and informative for you. Our process consists only of stages that our best evidence suggests are predictive of success on the job (such as test tasks) rather than more common but less predictive stages (such as cover letters). We only invite candidates to the next stage if we think they have a good chance of passing it, and take care to choose tasks and interview questions that will also give you a good sense of the role and our culture.

Applicants will be asked to complete the following stages:

1. Submitting our general application form (30 minutes to 1 hour),

2. A general test task (2-3 hours) with the top 10 to 30 candidates,

3. An initial interview (15 minutes) with the top 10-20 candidates,

Background

In April 2022 Fight for Peace became one of 120 Sport England Systems Partners. The aim is to deliver system-wide change against Sport England’s 10-year strategy, Uniting the Movement, to level up access to sport and physical activity across the country. One of the goals of this programme is to increase the engagement of under-represented and under-served groups in sports and physical activity.

Fight for Peace believes that it can be done through championing clubs and coaches as assets for social change, and championing the skills of coaches. Fight for Peace has created an online course for coaches to help achieve this, called Life Champions.

About the Life Champions Course

The Fight for Peace Life Champions course is an online course for sports coaches who want to learn how to use their sport as a tool for youth development. It is designed to help coaches expand their impact to include supporting the personal development of young people. The course will increase their confidence (through increasing awareness, knowledge, and skills) to help young people develop key skills that will support them in sport and in life beyond the sport. Coaches will learn about the values and behaviours of a Life Champions coach, build an understanding of how to create a Life Champions environment, think about equality, diversity and inclusion, and develop practical ideas to support young people to develop Life Champions skills.

Sport for Development Partnerships Manager Responsibilities include:

● Developing strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in the sports sector to promote the Life Champions course i.e. NGBs, Sport England, Sport for Development organisations etc

● Creating and implementing a communications strategy with support from key staff members

● Overseeing the development of any promotional materials.

● Creating strong connections and working relationships with our Alliance partners

As part of the Digital Systems team, the CRM Systems Manager is responsible for managing the organisation’s Ticketing, Customer Relationship Management and Fundraising CRM application and associated systems. This multifaceted role covers the ongoing support, training and continuous improvement of the applications.

The System Manager oversees system administration and ensures helpdesk requests are resolved appropriately and efficiently, to maximise system effectiveness and high standards of customer service.

Role Description

Mission of the role

Support the overall income generation of the organisation through developing three income streams: mentor programme sales, grants from trusts and foundations and corporate donations.

Structure and remuneration

• Days: 4 days per week (32 hours)

Role Responsibilities 

Corporate Giving

• Identify and research potential corporate social responsibility (CSR) partners aligned with the organisation's mission.

• Support Founding Director to develop relationships with corporate partners to secure funding

• Create compelling partnership proposals, including staff volunteering opportunities, to prospective corporate partners, ensuring that volunteering opportunities within corporate partnerships are supporting the impact of our programmes

Trusts and foundations

• Identify and research grant opportunities from foundations, local councils, and other funding bodies.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual to lead our Programmes Team whilst our current Director of Programmes is on maternity leave. The role will be fixed term from December 2024 until January 2026, although there may be further opportunities beyond the length of the contract depending on organisational growth.

The Director of Programmes will be a key member of CoachBright’s Senior Management Team, and will have input on both operational and strategic decision making. Whilst we will expect your input on matters relating to programme delivery and impact, all members of SMT are expected to contribute to decision making across the organisation. As a result, the role is an excellent opportunity to get genuine leadership experience at an educational charity, with the opportunity to report directly to our board of trustees depending on growth in the role.

The primary responsibility for the Director of Programmes will be to recruit school partners for our EEF trial, with delivery beginning September 2025. This trial is to test the impact our Peer to Peer coaching programme (Y10s coaching Y7s) can have on the maths attainment of disadvantaged pupils. The trial will require us to recruit 100 participating schools, 50 of whom will receive the intervention, with another 50 allocated to a control group.

Working alongside the CEO and the Programmes Team Leader, you will create and execute a strategy to recruit new schools as participants to this trial. As a result, experience of managing sales or partnerships with schools, or existing connections with senior leaders at secondary schools and multi-academy trusts, would be beneficial.

Alongside this, you will line manage our current Programmes Team Leader, who directly line manages our team of Programme Managers. From Sept 2025, we are expecting our Programmes Team to grow, and you will play a key role in recruiting for that expanded team. At that point, we would expect you to begin line managing a small number of Programme Managers directly.

EEF Trial

• Write and execute the strategy to deliver our EEF trial. This will primarily involve recruiting and onboarding 100 schools to participate from January 2025 through to July 2025, for programmes to begin in September 2025.

Leadership

• Be a key member of the Senior Management Team, working alongside the trustees, CEO, Director of People and Operations, and Director of Finance to drive high quality leadership and decision making.

• Work alongside the CEO to develop and define strategic priorities and targets for programmes.

• Align programmes team around organisational strategy and ensure buy in.

• Help create an organisational culture which is supportive, collaborative and embeds learning & continuous improvement across the programmes team.

People Management

• Line manage our Programmes Team Leader, who will directly line manage all of our Programme Managers. We expect the number of team members you directly manage to increase as our Programmes Team grows.

• Support the Programmes Team Leader with development and delivery of programme KPIs and ensure that Programme Managers are delivering effectively and developing in their roles.

Programme Delivery

• Overseeing the management of programme delivery in schools to meet KPIs, predominantly those related to our EEF trial.

Volunteer recruitment and training

Programme Design and Impact

• Project manage the development of programme resources including workshops, session plans and launch and graduation materials, particularly those related to the EEF trial.

• Work with our Data & Impact Manager to capture programme impact via feedback forms, Impact Reports and Annual Reports.

Safeguarding

• Act as CoachBright’s National Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

• Support the National DSL in developing and establishing CoachBright’s organisation’s approach to safeguarding.

• Support the National DSL with the coordination of the distribution of policies, procedures and safeguarding resources throughout the organisation.

Role Description

Veganuary is recruiting a part-time HR Manager who will work to manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle across our International operation. This role will involve working with, schools and corporate partners to ensure that we deliver impact for the girls and young women we serve.

WHAT WE DO

Young people from lower income families are 40% less likely to go to University than wealthier peers (Dept for Education, 2020) which can have a lifelong impact on earning potential. Covid-19 has deepened inequalities (Social Mobility Foundation, 2022) and negatively impacted on young people's wellbeing (GirlGuiding, 2020). We believe that no girls should have their futures limited by their gender, sex, ethnicity, background, or parental income and they should be supported to realise their ambitions, to discover their self-worth, and to develop their capacity to shape their world and their futures.

We work in communities of least advantage across England to deliver two core programmes to achieve this vision. Through our mentoring programme we connect 14-19 year old girls with a mentor and a wider network of role models who are women and deliver opportunities which help them to build life skills and nurture their ambitions. Based on the idea that 'you can't be what you can't see', our mentors often help girls to broaden their horizons and create a more positive vision of their futures. After the programme, the mentees can join a free, lifelong network of support - our Ambassador Community, which offers further opportunities to reach their goals, build their confidence and to share their voices and experiences.

THE ROLE

This is an exciting role joining a Programme Team of 13 staff based throughout the UK. There is a small team of three based in the London. You will work closely and collaborate with the other Network Managers and share some priorities across the region, working to develop the region as a whole. The purpose of this role is to facilitate good relationships between the mentors and mentees in the region. 70-80% of the role is about relationship building (with schools, mentors and partners), coordination and the tracking/ administration of those relationships. 15-20% of the role is direct delivery with the girls in the region. You will play a crucial role setting up our 121 mentoring programmes, liaising with schools, recruiting mentors and ensuring that we have the right mentors for the mentees on programme. You will also deliver our workshop programme within the area.

Mentoring programme

• Manage overall success of the cohorts (groups of mentees and mentors) in your region, including coordinating and administering events and communications for cohorts in your area.
• Deliver engaging on-boarding sessions for mentees.
• Deliver events and workshops for mentees.
• Deliver matching of mentees and mentors at in-person events or virtually.
• Work with the wider programme team to train mentors.

The Catalyst Collective is an innovative and rapidly growing non-profit organisation. Since our pilot programme launched in January 2021, we have expanded significantly. Better Cotton is a voluntary sustainability standard organisation, but we are more than just a standard. Our role is also to build the capacity of farming communities worldwide by promoting socially and environmentally sustainable cotton growing practices. A significant part of this involves meeting and exceeding the Decent Work requirements of our Better Cotton Standard. Today, over 2 million farmers participate in Better Cotton's programmes globally.

In this role, you will be part of the Global Programmes & Partnerships team, supporting our programme partners to achieve this ambitious objective and helping Better Cotton producers improve their labour practices. As part of the global partnership team, you will work closely with country teams to translate Better Cotton Standard requirements into context-appropriate action plans and set producers on the path towards continuous improvement.

More specifically, this role involves:

• Leading capacity-building initiatives, provide technical guidance, and support programmatic alignment at both global and country levels. 

Responsibilities 

We are seeking a motivated Partnerships Manager – Labour Rights to join our Global Programmes & Partnerships team. In this role, you will:

Standard Implementation Support

• Provide technical support to country teams and programme partners to ensure the effective implementation of the Decent Work Principle of the Better Cotton Standard (Principles & Criteria) aiming at improving the working conditions of workers and farmers across smallholder, medium and large farm contexts. 
• Collaborate with country teams and programme partners to ensure a shared understanding of the Decent Work Principle of the Better Cotton Standard.
• Provide technical assistance on local adaptation of the Better Cotton Standard through tailored capacity-strengthening strategies such as trainings, workshops, and webinars.
• Guide the design and alignment of capacity strengthening strategies on decent work at the global and country levels.
• Develop and test implementation guidance materials through consultations, pilots, and engagement with experts and partners.
• Ensure cross-functional coordination and organisational learning related to decent work and capacity-strengthening efforts.
• Develop frameworks for monitoring and evaluating decent work initiatives.
• Coordinate regular reporting and ensure that organisational learning informs programmatic improvements.

Country Programmes Support

• Support country teams with implementing decent work components, addressing labour issues, and integrating gender as a cross-cutting theme.
• Build relationships with programme partners to assess needs, strengthen capacity, and develop shared solutions.
• Assist in operationalising the “assess and address” approach to labour monitoring, scaling best practices across diverse country contexts.
• Conduct needs assessments and develop country-level strategies/roadmaps to enhance decent work.
• Align fundraising objectives with country programme needs and decent work challenges.
• Explore new opportunities to enhance the implementation of the Better Cotton Standard, including innovations to improve working conditions and livelihoods.
• Provide technical input for funding proposals and contribute to project management for secured grants.
• Responsible for integrating labour rights considerations into policies and operational strategies, working closely with Better Cotton’s global programmes & partnerships team members to support new country start-up processes, revision of partnership agreements as well as definition of exit strategies.

Partner Due Diligence and Performance Management

• Assess the capacities of programme partners to meet Better Cotton’s due diligence requirements with regards to ensuring adequate working conditions of their employees, especially field staff and creating capacity strengthening action plans to address any gaps identified. 
• Ensure an understanding of these issues and the need to take ownership for effectively addressing them at the organisational level, assisting in establishing or improving their organisational systems to address potential rights violations faced by their staff and external community members affected by their business operations through effective grievance mechanisms;
• Assist in partners’ due diligence from a labour rights perspective, ensuring gaps are addressed with corrective actions.
• Support programme partners in implementing labour rights recommendations, including by providing training and technical guidance. Oversee their progress in line with defined deliverables.
• Ensure that programme partnership agreements reflect commitments to human and labour rights protection.  Would add in supporting with the development of partnership management tools including partnership agreements and relevant annexes to ensure that labour rights requirements are appropriately incorporated.

Complaints Management

• Manage complaints related to labour rights violations submitted to Better Cotton, ensuring timely investigation and resolution in collaboration with Better Cotton’s Complaints Management focal points at global and country levels.  
• Oversee investigations and follow up on corrective actions for responsible case closure.
• Ensure that appropriate learning takes place following the closure of investigations (including mapping locally available support services and external grievance mechanisms)
• Develop guidelines detailing appropriate follow up and response to different types of labour and human rights concerns depending on severity and other criteria.

Profile

This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional with a passion for advancing social sustainability and a proven track record of implementing human rights and labour standards in a development or agricultural context.

• Familiarity with monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) frameworks related to social impact.
• Strong experience in managing multi-stakeholder projects, particularly across diverse geographic regions.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with programme partners and external stakeholders.
• Skilled in managing partner due diligence and corrective actions related to human and labour rights.
• Experience in handling complaints management and coordinating investigations into labour rights issues.
• Experience in supporting grant proposals and managing donor-funded projects. Understanding of global fundraising landscapes, including knowledge partnerships and innovation grants.
• Experience of working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.

Desirable

• Knowledge of the agricultural sector is desirable.
• French language skills highly desirable.

Working arrangements

About the role 

Purpose: We’re recruiting for a motivated and experienced Service Delivery Manager to expand our offer of support to motivate and empower an engaged global MS community. With strong knowledge and experience of managing projects and the ability design, shape and implement services.

You will be responsible for the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of products and services. • Service Design and Improvement: Leading on the design, development and improvement of products and services in line with the charity’s strategic objectives, using insight and data to shape your thinking.

• Minimum of 2 years practical project management experience / service design and delivery

Role overview

The Senior Programme Manager will lead our delivery team and work closely with the Partnership Manager to ensure that we’re designing and delivering mentoring projects that meet our partner objectives. The postholder will line-manage key staff in the delivery team, delegate programme activity and oversee quality across our portfolio. The postholder will be accountable for engagement across our portfolio and for ensuring we meet targets and key performance indicators set by our partners for project outcomes.

The postholder will also lead the delivery of Brightside Mentoring, our London based mentoring project that’s currently funded until 31 December 2025. This will involve leading the ongoing design of the project as we learn from each cohort, recruiting young people to take part from across our London networks and reporting to the funder on project progress. Our ideal candidate will therefore be based in or around London, as frequent travel will be required.

Responsible for (our partner portfolio)

• Overseeing project deliverables across our portfolio, ensuring tasks are delegated across the team and that deadlines are met
• Chairing weekly delivery team meetings to stay on top of project launches, delivery updates and upcoming evaluations
• Ensuring that roles and responsibilities for project delivery are clear across the delivery team
• Collaborating with the Partnership Manager to manage our approach to risk across the portfolio
• Collaborating with the Data and Insight Manager to ensure recommendations and learning are embedded into future projects
• Monitoring quality in our project delivery, and developing systems to do this efficiently
• Managing our training calendar, ensuring that mentor and mentee training sessions are staffed as required

• Working closely with the Partnership Manager to lead mentee recruitment, ensuring that we’re reaching young people and getting them onto the project
• Attending recruitment events across London, working with contacts in and beyond our network to recruit young people
• Delegating tasks across the delivery team
• Working with the Interim Head of Innovation to recruit volunteers
• Ensuring that all volunteers are trained and DBS-checked before participating

Accountable for

• Engagement across our portfolio – monitoring participation of mentors and mentees, identifying success, challenges and developing strategies to improve engagement
• Programme management processes – ensuring we implement robust programme management processes that lead to success, with clear workflows for the team to follow
• Programme records – ensuring that the delivery team keep accurate records of meetings, updates and learning
• Participant conversion – ensuring that as many young people as possible fully participate in programmes after they sign-up

Team working

• You will be line managed by the Interim Head of Innovation
• You will line manage a Programme Manager and the Data and Insight Manager
• You will lead the delivery team and chair weekly team meetings
• You will work closely with the Interim Head of Innovation and Partnership Manager to lead the Programmes Team
