The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust UK is seeking a creative and experienced Communications Officer to join our team for up to 14 months as maternity cover, beginning in September 2024. This is a varied role, through which the postholder will be a part of our small team in the UK. The role is on-site, based at the charity’s office in Billingshurst, West Sussex.
WHO WE ARE:
The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust has worked for over 47 years to protect wildlife and habitats in Kenya. Its projects include Anti-Poaching, Veterinary Intervention, Aerial Operations, Habitat Protection, Human-Wildlife Conflict Mitigation, and the rescue and rehabilitation of orphaned elephants, rhinos, and other wild species, all working towards a sustainable future for wildlife and communities.
In 2004, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust UK (SWT UK) was established to protect and preserve African wildlife. Through relationship building and informed communications we raise funds to undertake direct conservation activities in Kenya, and to provide grants to SWT Kenya and other NGOs, to save wild lives and secure habitats.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As our Communications Officer, you will be responsible for managing the communications of the UK charity, inspiring and engaging both new and existing supporters. You will:
- Organise, create and schedule well-written, engaging content for a range of different audiences across various channels including email, print, and social media so that we communicate our news and story effectively.
- Maintain and develop the charity’s catalogue of marketing and communications assets, in line with charity brand guidelines, so that staff can easily access resources they need.
- Oversee, develop, and implement our communications plan, working closely with colleagues from SWT UK, and collaboratively with those from SWT Kenya, and SWT USA.
- Identify and explore opportunities to communicate conservation success stories so that we can engage new supporters in the charity.
- Write press releases, respond to media enquiries, and develop working relationships with relevant media contacts.
- Handle administrative tasks, to include reporting on donor giving, campaign effectiveness, and digital analytics, so we can produce effective communications.
- Maintain the media library, and providing support to other team members.
- Occasional new projects and responsibilities in keeping with the role and remit.

We require a Social Worker to provide high quality social work in our schools across the Diocese of Salford according to each school’s formal agreement.
You will work directly with children and young people, their parents, carers and schools in order to further the child’s welfare and provide the interventions necessary to enable them to use their learning opportunities to the full. You must be able to provide a non-judgemental, caring and confidential environment throughout this work to ensure the issues are addressed in an appropriate manner for all those involved.
To apply you will have experience of working with children and families and experience of direct work with children which includes supporting school staff with safeguarding. You must have competent IT skills which includes providing regular reports to the individual schools and Caritas and feedback to school staff as required. You must be able to maintain appropriate resources, databases and case files as well as maintain efficient and comprehensive referral and recording systems.
Registered social worker status with Social Work England (SWE) is essential and the salary includes accrued annual leave.

The Internal Communications Manager is a pivotal role at the College as you will help develop and shape the College’s internal communication channels to drive information sharing and engagement with the College Strategy and Values for staff.
Reporting directly to the Executive Director for People and Culture, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the employee internal communications plan to inspire, inform and engage employees with clear, consistent messages that align with the College’s mission, values and goals.
As Internal Communications Manager, you will review and develop processes and communication channels and develop the annual plan for employee communications using innovative and creative approaches to engage and support. Appeer is a Community Interest Company (CIC) set up to deliver services that support autistic girls and women (and those assigned female at birth) to connect with peers, to develop their life/work skills and to support their wellbeing. We provide in person and online activity groups and programmes, alternative provision, events and resources for those in the community that we serve, their parents/carers and other professionals. We are not a therapeutic setting and as such do not offer clinical support or 1:1 supervision. We are seeking a dynamic, inspiring, caring and trusted individual to make Holocaust Centre North and our projects more inclusive, imaginative and accessible. The Head of Communities will lead our new flagship initiative ‘The Rudi Project’. The programme will support our vision of Holocaust Centre North as a bold and pioneering space to reflect on ‘a global history through local stories’ from the North of England and foster a culture of care.
Holocaust Centre North
Holocaust Centre North promotes education on the Holocaust and post-Holocaust issues to raise awareness of human rights, freedom, and equality. We do so by telling a global history through local stories, specifically those of survivors and refugees who rebuilt their lives in the North of England.
Our work spans archives and collections, learning, artistic research, exhibitions, and survivor welfare. Through these areas, we aim to foster a culture of care and raise awareness about the relevance of Holocaust history today.
We collaborate closely with refugees of Nazi persecution, their families and carers, local communities, artistic practitioners, researchers, and schools to create spaces for nuanced dialogue about the ongoing relevance of the Holocaust. We strive to create opportunities for reflection on the role this dark chapter of our shared history plays in the present, using contemporary critical frameworks to engage audiences with Holocaust history.
We are now seeking to expand our current work to reach communities that had previously been excluded, underrepresented, and/or marginalised in our work, also involving them in the museum itself. We are looking for an individual with experience in community engagement and development, particularly through the lens of archive practice and artistic responses to heritage collections.
The Rudi Project
Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, The Rudi Project aims to develop strong partnerships with local communities that we don’t yet engage with, involving them as central participants within the fabric of our work. Through a programme of workshops, events, publications and artist residencies, we will use co-production to pose critical questions: how do we engender reflections on the Holocaust's legacies in communities that feel alienated from this history? How do we work with local communities that may feel divided due to the repercussions of current international conflict? How can we commemorate the Holocaust whilst also acknowledging participants’ silent testimonies and inherent experiences in an ever-shifting present?
This initiative represents the legacy of a recent rebrand process, which delivered a re-imagined Holocaust Centre North with a unique mandate to articulate 'a global history through local stories' and to foster 'a culture of care' when engaging with stories of trauma. Building on these foundations, The Rudi Project will enable communities to guide us in the design of sustainable and long-term practices to connect with people, especially those who also live their lives after trauma, loss, discrimination, persecution and isolation. In the process, the project will further enhance our resilience and sustainability by extending the reach of existing investment, and resources and bringing more voices around our table.
Job Description
To work closely with the Director to support the delivery of the organisational strategy through community engagement. This will include:
- Develop a methodology for socially engaged practice and community co-production for Holocaust Centre North
- Design and deliver meaningful community consultation.
- Contribute to the development of an audience development plan for reaching diverse audience goals both through existing programmes and new initiatives.
- Support and advise colleagues in all departments to remove barriers to access and ensure Holocaust Centre North is welcoming for all.
- Build networks with charities, grassroot groups, community groups, educational partners, cultural partners and the healthcare sector.
- To line-manage members of the Holocaust Centre North team
- To contribute actively to monitor and evaluate Holocaust Centre North’s impact, particularly in relation to community engagement.
To plan and deliver events and activities with communities as part of our new flagship programme ‘The Rudi Project:’
- Design and deliver pilot activities to engage communities with our existing initiatives across commemoration, artistic responses to collections and archives.

Experience
- 5 years of demonstrable experience of running creative community engagement schemes that deliver long-term impact.
- Evidence of awareness of innovative approaches to community engagement either with the cultural sector or other sectors.
- A proven track record of running meaningful consultations with a variety of communities.
- Experience of writing funding bids for community engagement/development projects or of collaborating with development teams to apply for funding.
- Experience of community development through the lens of archive practice, commemoration and/or contemporary art (desirable).

About the role
The Senior People Advisor works within the People and Culture team to provide staff with advisory support across the whole employee lifecycle from onboarding through to offboarding and ongoing HR support, which reflects and highlights our organisational culture and values. The role is supported by the People team who operate across the globe and work collaboratively to ensure our culture, people and processes are well aligned. The role will lead on providing advice on employee relations issues to all employees and people managers in their regions.
You will also ensure that staff who are hired and/or paid through PEOs receive the same positive, welcoming and nurturing experience as staff who are employed directly by Sunrise.
You will work closely with the Learning and Development Director and People and Culture team to assist in the design and delivery of areas that drive culture and transformation across Sunrise. This will include overseeing and utilizing our LMS system and supporting leadership development, JEDI, core compliance related areas and any other areas identified as part of learning needs analysis. You will also support the evaluation of our programmes, tools and techniques for delivering learning.
The role will also lead on developing the curriculum for our organisation wide onboarding programme and materials.

Provide generalist people support that will include areas such as:
- Employee/industrial relations - providing support, advice and guidance on a range of issues including conflict management and working with and escalating when required to our people and culture lead(s)

- Providing the PEO with guidance and updates on employee relations issues e.g. performance management, grievances, workplace health & safety, etc. by investigating issues, evaluating potential solutions and assisting in implementing agreed-upon actions via the PEO.

Purpose and Overview
The PCREF Programme aims to reduce and ultimately eliminate racial disparities in the services provided by the South London and Maudsley (SLaM) NHS Trust. The programme's success will be monitored through the Trust’s Performance & Quality system, emphasising collaboration between the Trust's staff, Black service users, their carers, and Black communities. The goal is to ensure equitable access, experiences, and outcomes for Black citizens utilising the Trust's services.
The Programme Manager for the Independent Advisory Groups (IAGs) in Lambeth and Southwark is crucial in advancing the objectives of the PCREF. This role focuses on fostering active community participation, building capacity, and ensuring that Black communities are equal partners in the transformational change programme. The Programme Manager will lead the development and support of local IAGs, ensuring robust governance, structure, and capacity building to improve mental health services.
Supporting the IAGs and the IAG chairs is fundamental to this role. It serves to enhance the capacity of the IAGs and chairs. Whilst the job description provides a succinct outline of responsibilities, ultimately the needs of the IAGs will be paramount, with direct leadership from the Director at Black Thrive. This role is in collaboration with various stakeholders, with a clearer focus on project mismanagement and varied learning styles. Leadership must be aligned with the IAGs, ensuring diverse and inclusive practices.
Supporting policy development is crucial, and there should be an agreement on oversight, with all parties having joint oversight and review responsibilities. Reporting back to the IAGs will be a key component.

Terms
The role will be based in our office in Eastcote for 3 days per week, with the possibility for home working for the remainder of the time.
Salary: c. £41k FTE. Note the salary listed is a full time equivalent salary based on 35hrs per week, so actual salary will vary depending on hours agreed.
Hours: Part time 21-28hours per week to suit the candidate. Reduced hours available in the school holidays if desired

Job Summary
CAAS provide an ADHD and Autism Support Service for the 8 boroughs of NW London, from our base in Eastcote, with a team of Support Workers. Our work includes offering information, advice, and support to ADHD / autistic people, their families, and professionals in NW London, with the aim of improving quality of life and developing neurodiverse-aware communities. Some of the support is offered through one2one meetings, some of the support is provided through groups and courses which aim to increase understanding and awareness, and provide opportunities for peer support, and some of the support is offered through training and workshops to educate professionals and drive for accommodations to be made to services to allow greater access for our client group.
As Finance Manager you will report to and work closely with the Finance Director and have responsibility for the operational delivery of the finance, resource, monitoring, HR and contracting work streams within the charity. The role sits within the management group at CAAS, alongside the Youth, Adult and Family Service managers and the Client Programmes Director and manages the Finance and Monitoring Assistant and the Office Assistant.
The Finance Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the infrastructure and operational delivery at the charity are effective for the more than 30 staff we employ, and the more than 11,000 instances of support we provide each year. Therefore, we are looking for a capable, calm, self-motivated, organised and hard-working accountant who is looking to move into a senior finance role, from any commercial, statutory or charitable background.
The role requires strong organisation skills, excellent communication skills, experience of management accounting and reporting, and an understanding of HR and payroll operations. You will ideally have some line management or project management experience to draw on in this role. Ultimately you will have the drive to ensure that everyone who works for us, and everyone who seeks support from us, has the best possible experience.
There is no requirement for any experience of, or understanding of ADHD / autistic individuals, as we will provide training on the conditions. A genuine acceptance of diversity and a keenness to make an impact are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning, Management and Reporting
· Prepare accurate, timely and well controlled and documented monthly and quarterly accounts. Share the outcomes of your reviews with the Finance Director, and ensure the accounts are reported in an meaningful way.
· Support in the preparation of Trustee reporting
· Support in the preparation and audit of the annual statutory accounts.
· Support with the annual budget and periodic reforecast processes to ensure the timely and appropriate provision of information to facilitate necessary adjustments to operational activity and appropriate decision making around cash investments.
· Ensure processes and procedures are carried out on a timely and effective basis to ensure financial policies and procedures are adhered to, and any control weaknesses mitigated and improvement plans in place
· Maintain records to ensure accurate restricted and unrestricted fund allocation.
· Be accountable for operating effective controls and oversight regarding contracts with freelancers, volunteers or other suppliers
· Deliver all day-to-day finance and cash management operations, scheduling, tracking and fulfilling invoices and payments, providing accurate bookkeeping, approving payment runs and reconciled balance sheets, detailed records re credit card and other payment platforms, and generally work to use and improve the financial systems in place to ensure the charity’s overall stability and sustainability.
· Review and update funder schedule allocations, ensuring invoices raised on time and costs allocated correctly.
· Review and approve Customer and Supplier invoices, review of month end information from finance team. Creation and posting of month end journals, reviewing the month end accounts to budget and analysing any discrepancies.
· Supporting the Finance Director and CEO on adhoc reports or analysis
· As a member of the management group participate in cross team working meetings and management meetings, and build relationships with the other members of the management group such that you become an integral support resource to them as they deliver for our clients.
Resource & IT Management
· Hold responsibility for arranging and maintaining the charity IT and phone hardware and software
· Act as first line IT support for charity staff
· Hold the relationship with the external IT provider and liaise to ensure appropriate on and off boarding and security arrangements.
· Manage our internal personnel and H&S support programmes, such as our EAP provider, our training providers and our office maintenance systems.
· Maintain the charity asset register, and complete the necessary operational tasks to ensure the charity is appropriately resourced to provide effective infrastructure backdrop for our staff.
Monitoring Management, Reporting and Impact Evaluation
· Carry out the necessary regular reviews and support so that our CRM records are complete and accurate in respect of work performed, and prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly and annual monitoring reports internally.
· Prepare monitoring reports for funders on quarterly basis as and when required
· Ensure best practice in monitoring collection and evaluation, including managing GDPR processes, creating appropriate forms, and communicating deadlines and requirements to all staff.
· Operate as the internal first line of support for our CRM system and consequent monitoring reporting tools, to ensure they are accurate, regularly reviewed and procedures documented and continuously improved.
· Prepare impact and distance travelled statistics for our external communications, to support our fundraising efforts.
HR and Payroll Operations
· Deliver on the necessary onboarding and offboarding processes for staff, including complying with on our safer recruitment requirements, creating contracts and contract variation letters, supporting staff with timesheets and other records of work, carrying out pension operations and supporting with interview arrangements.
· Carry out the delivery of the monthly payroll process, including preparation and review of the payroll files, carrying out calculations around overtime pay etc, providing an accurate and well controlled process, and enabling payments to be made on the pay date each month. Processing the payroll journals on a monthly basis

Person Specification - Essential
· Fully qualified accountant: eg ACA, ACCA, CIMA, with proven financial management knowledge and experience
· Strong business acumen: with the ability to analyse and drive the performance of commercial, operational and income generation functions
· Excellent Organisational and Leadership Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with high attention to detail, crucial for handling a demanding workload and managing a busy team
· Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of representing the organisation effectively both internally and externally, at all levels including developing a close relationship with the management group, preparing reports for the SLT, communicating financial and monitoring information to staff and offering insights to the finance and admin team.
· Tech Proficiency: Skilled in using computer software such as CRM systems, Finance systems, Microsoft Office Suite and Phone Management Systems as well as be able to manage IT onboarding and admin requirements around computer hardware

· Natural Leader: experience of working as a team leader, with responsibility for more junior staff, or for managing complex projects
