About the Role
As our Senior HR Business Partner, you will shape and deliver HR strategies that align with our mission and business objectives.
Working closely with leaders, key stakeholders and HR colleagues, you will ensure the development of people solutions that prioritise equality, diversity and inclusion while supporting the ongoing transformation of services.
In addition to providing expert advice and guidance on HR matters, you will lead complex casework, performance management, employee relations and key HR initiatives. These initiatives will span across various areas, including workforce planning, talent management, resourcing, restructuring, pay and reward, and employee engagement.
A key part of the role is ensuring that stakeholders are informed and consulted on organisational changes, as well as delivering bite-size training sessions for managers.

- Use data from HRIS to identify process improvements, drive decision-making and develop business cases for change initiatives

About You
To be considered as our Senior HR Business Partner, you will need:

People & Culture

Lead the review and development of HR policies and processes to ensure that they embody People’s Economy’s values, and support effective working and staff wellbeing, drawing in external expertise as necessary.

Lead the development and implementation of recruitment processes for staff vacancies, ensuring compliance with People’s Economy’s recruitment policy and employment law.

Lead the implementation of formal HR processes e.g. disciplinary processes, contract variations, and act as the key point of contact with People’s Economy’s external HR advisers.

Contribute to the development of organisational culture and values and ensure that they are embedded, promoted and enacted throughout the organisation.

Lead review and development of People’s Economy’s safeguarding policy, processes and practice including staff and trustee training.

Lead the work to build and maintain staff health and safety and wellbeing, through developing appropriate systems, processes and practices.

Operations

Finance

Lead People’s Economy’s financial management and control, including:

Manage People’s Economy’s book-keeping and payroll providers to ensure that high quality records of income and expenditure are maintained and the smooth operation of supplier payments, invoicing, payroll and pensions contributions.

Oversee the timely production of regular financial reporting including management accounts, cash forecasting and quarterly reporting to the Board. Scrutinise regular finance reports and work to resolve any issues identified.

Role Description
Veganuary is recruiting a part-time HR Manager who will work to manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle across our International operation. This standalone HR position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and will manage and continue to develop all HR practices and processes ensuring compliance with local labour laws and regulations across the countries that Veganuary operates in. This role is crucial in ensuring the organisation attracts, recruits and develops high performing team members. Whilst we would love someone with experience of working as an HR Manager across an International team, we recognise that some elements of the role can be learned. Therefore, this role could suit someone who has solid HR experience at a lower level but who is proactive, self-suffice and with great employment law experience.
Core Responsibilities
Recruitment
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including job postings, contacting candidates, arranging interviews and onboarding
- Coach and support hiring managers with recruitment processes, screening and onboarding, ensuring compliance with international labour laws

Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive People & Skills Strategy aligned with the charity’s mission and goals.

- Implement learning and development programmes to nurture leadership, enhance skills, and ensure compliance with sector-specific training (e.g., fundraising / line management skills, safeguarding, data protection).
Performance and HR Compliance
- Oversee performance management systems, ensuring they are fair, transparent, and supportive of staff development.
- Ensure compliance with UK employment legislation, including employment contracts, grievances, disciplinary procedures, and workplace policies.
- Provide oversight of health and safety regulations, safeguarding standards, and risk management across all organisational levels.
- Responsible for maintaining and continuousy improving the charity’s HR software system and other HR platforms.
- Ensure compliance with data protection laws for all HR related information.
- Use data to generate insights, inform decision-making and improve processes.
Employee Engagement and Culture
- Lead on creating a culture of collaboration, empathy, and shared commitment to the charity’s values.
- Design and implement employee engagement initiatives to enhance job satisfaction and motivation.
- Ensure effective communication channels between leadership and staff, including regular staff surveys and feedback mechanisms.
Key Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in a senior HR leadership role in the UK charity sector.
- Solid understanding of UK employment law and most recent best practices. A commitment to continuous professional development in this area.
- Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with experience implementing organisational change in this area.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex employee relations issues sensitively and effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire at all levels of the organisation.
- Level 7 CIPD qualification (or equivalent) highly desirable.
- Experience working in international agencies or NGOs highly desirable.

Contract: Permanent, Part Time (3 or 4 days per week)
Location: The role can be based in the UK or one of the following WaterAid Country Programmes - Nigeria, Kenya, or South Africa (Pretoria), subject to right-to-work eligibility in the respective countries.
