CBRL, the UK’s social sciences and humanities research hub in the region, seeks to appoint a new director. With centres in Amman, Jerusalem and London, CBRL fosters, produces and disseminates original, rigorous and independent research and invests in promising emerging scholars. Our overarching mission is to advance knowledge and understanding of the peoples and cultures of the Levant through scholarship in the humanities and social sciences.

The successful applicant will be a leading scholar with a background in the humanities, social or environmental sciences. They will have an outstanding research profile and demonstrable experience of academic leadership and strong general management ability. They will have a clear vision for building on CBRL’s existing strengths as a research centre and regional hub for scholars of the Levant.

Appointment Term: Initial period of 3 years.

Based: UK or Amman

Status: The post may be on secondment from a UK university or other institution, or otherwise the Director may be employed directly by CBRL. The Director must be able to spend time in the Levant and/or be able to travel freely around the region as well as to/from UK. 

Time commitment: Full time. 20% of salaried time funded by the CBRL will be allowed for development and delivery of personal research 

Responsibilities

Strategy and Performance

Working with CBRL trustees, and in dialogue with the British Academy and other partners:

• Lead a review of CBRL’s strategy.

• Ensure alignment with regional dynamics and evolving geo-political landscapes.

• Put in place a sustainable model for CBRL’s activities, setting ambitions for the next 3 – 5 years.

• Develop and promote high quality, visible UK research projects and research partnerships in and with the region.

• Enhance and increase use of CBRL facilities on the ground

Partnerships

• Cultivate productive relationships with the British Academy, BIRIS and other key stakeholders.

• Expand networks across relevant UK and regional entities to bolster CBRL’s strategic and funding objectives.

• Explore and develop possibilities for collaboration and funding beyond the UK Higher Education sector.

Research

• The Director will be expected to develop a programme of highly quality personal research for which time will be allowed within the role, as agreed with CBRL.

• Support and oversee delivery of a high-quality programme of research activity in the region, including research partnerships, grants, projects and events.

Delivery

• Develop the accessibility and sustainability of CBRL archives.

• Ensure high standards of project management and administrative efficiency.

• Develop the communication and dissemination of CBRL’s work.

• Outstanding record of research and publication in the humanities, social or environmental sciences, in one of the disciplines supported by the CBRL.

JOB PURPOSE

UK for UNHCR is seeking a passionate and skilled Digital Fundraising Officer to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, to help raise vital funds for refugees and displaced people around the world. The successful candidate will play an essential role as UK for UNHCR looks to recruit and mobilise new supporters and donors to the cause. 

Reporting to the Digital Acquisition & Mobilisation Manager, the role will help launch, monitor, and report on campaigns that engage supporters and donors. Two key projects within the role include helping deliver UK for UNCHR’s lead generation programme and working closely with the wider Digital Fundraising Team to manage innovation projects such as the UK for UNHCR virtual gift website. 

The role will involve working across a wide range of channels – including via web, social media and email marketing – ensuring the digital programme follows best practice for fundraising across key channels.

ROLE RESPONSIBLITIES

• Work in close collaboration with the Digital Acquisition & Mobilisation Manager to contribute to the planning and delivery of digital fundraising and mobilisation appeals – with a strong focus on lead generation (acquiring new supporters) and developing the virtual gift store. 
• Designing, launching and monitoring engagement lead generation campaigns on key channels such as Meta, Care2 and Blueprint. 
• Taking a leading role in developing, and further expanding, donations via UK for UNHCR’s newly-launched virtual gift store. Producing, editing and providing feedback on copy and imagery for social media posts, fundraising emails, and other digital platforms. 
• Close collaboration with UK for UNHCR’s Database Team to ensure accurate data capture and integration from digital fundraising appeals into database systems. 
• Regularly analyse campaign performance using Excel or Google Sheets and report on effectiveness to relevant stakeholders. 
• Work closely with digital marketing agencies and internal teams, including the wider fundraising and communications teams, to help ensure organisational alignment. 
• Effective personal time management to ensure deadlines are met and fundraising appeals are delivered on time. 
• Actively participate in meetings and planning sessions, contributing ideas and insights to UK for UNHCR's fundraising appeals and mobilisation initiatives.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE

Essential Skills

• Excellent digital marketing or digital fundraising skills: able to produce compelling, persuasive and concise copy for a range of target audiences across web, social media and email marketing. Strong proficiency with image design tools, such as Canva or Adobe Suite. 
• Experience with at least one of the following digital tools: Meta Business Suite, Meta Ad Manager, Wordpress, Shopify, Google Analytics, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or any similar tools typically used by non-profit organisations for social media, email fundraising, or digital marketing. 
• Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, capable of organising and analysing data. 
• Proficient in using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint (or their Google equivalents), for creating professional documents and presentations.

The Head of Finance and Operations will support significant growth and associated transformation of their Finance and Operations to underpin their ability to provide these vital services to support young refugee’s increasingly complex needs.

Reporting to the CEO and leading a team of 5, the Head of Finance and Internal Operations is a critical leadership role providing advice and analysis to the Board and its Committees. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will lead MOVE Against Cancer in its next phase of growth, ensuring that our programmes continue to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those living with and beyond cancer. Monitor and report on the organisation’s financial performance, providing regular, accurate updates to the Trustees. Oversee compliance with fundraising regulations, ensuring that all fundraising activities adhere to legal and ethical standards. Strategy

Lead the sustainable growth of MOVE Against Cancer, ensuring that the organisation adapts to the evolving landscape of cancer support and related sectors. Work with the Board to regularly review and refine the organisation’s strategy, ensuring it remains responsive to external changes and opportunities.

HR, Compliance & Infrastructure Management

Ensure compliance with all relevant legislative, regulatory, and policy requirements, including health and safety, Charity Commission guidance, safeguarding, and fundraising regulations. Oversee data protection policies, ensuring that MOVE Against Cancer meets all General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and data privacy laws. Develop and review organisational policies and procedures at appropriate intervals to ensure best practices and compliance with regulations. Establish a continuous improvement framework, gathering feedback and data to guide the organisation’s strategic direction and operational excellence. Coordinate with senior leadership to ensure that all services meet or exceed the expectations of funders, partners, and beneficiaries.

The Role

As the Executive Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in providing administrative support for all aspects of the role of the Managing Director who leads on Fundraising, Marketing and Communications. This role is crucial in focusing on:

• Managing the inbox of the MD, to ensure emails are responded to in a timely manner to all internal and external communications.
• Triage and draft email responses – understanding and representing well the ‘voice’ of the Managing Director. 
• Manage the Managing Director’s correspondence and communications with key supporters, donors, celebrities and major donors and ensure they are recorded on the database. 
• In conjunction with the staff team, proactively prompt and coordinate the cultivation of the Managing Director’s relationships with donors and key stakeholders both internal and external.
• Prepare presentations for multiple audiences including donors and supporters, trustees, senior stakeholders, global and UK board meetings and board committees.
• Coordinate appropriate follow-up meetings and fundraising opportunities from individuals, companies, trusts and other relevant sources. Update members of the staff team on relevant meetings and actions. 
• Manage the travel arrangements of the Managing Director.
• Prepare and circulate relevant papers and perform the duties of the administrator to the Fundraising and Marketing Committee of the Board of Trustees, including arranging meetings, preparing papers and taking minutes.

Finance Team  

The Interim Financial Controller sits within a Finance Team, which provides the full range of financial support, reporting and services across Conciliation Resources to support the efficient and effective running of the organisation and the delivery of its work.  
Other senior finance team roles include an Income & Treasury Accountant, as well as a Financial Planning & Analysis Manager.

Job Purpose  

The Financial Controller has responsibility for the maintenance of business processes and controls, expenditure and balance sheet transactions. Scope and Accountability

The post-holder works closely with others in the Finance Team and other staff across Conciliation Resources as well as our organisational partners. SUMMARY

The Chief Operating Officer will lead on our ‘Thrive’ outcome: ensuring that CEE is a strong and sustainable organisation that can serve the community energy sector into the future. 

Working closely with our Chief Executive, this role will be responsible for further developing the operational foundations - our systems and procedures - that allow our Heads of Departments to deliver their services with increasing professionalism and impact, and to grow the team to enable us to continue to impactfully support our growing membership. PRINCIPAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Strategy implementation - developing systems for tracking organisational objectives and delivery, overseeing progress and reporting to the CEO
• Operational oversight - Actively collaborate with the senior leadership team and our Membership & Operations Officer to review and refresh our policies, procedures, and operational systems to ensure they meet the needs of our plans for growth

We are seeking a Research Funding Officer (Research Insight) to work mainly on our two grant programmes – the WCRF International Regular Grant Programme and the INSPIRE Research Challenge. As part of our Research Funding team, you will support high quality and innovative research on the effects of diet, nutrition, physical activity and body composition on cancer prevention and survival, managing an international portfolio of grants and working closely with leading researchers around the world.

The Research Funding Officer (Research Insight) will work mainly on the pre-award phase of the grant programmes (e.g. supporting the development and launching new calls for applications, organising and coordinating Panel meetings, managing the peer review process and contributing to the development of grant related Board documentation).

You will have some experience of working in a fast-paced research environment (academia or research administration/management), of writing in different formats and of communicating and presenting information to a range of audiences. You will be educated to BSc level (MSc level desirable but not essential) in Biological Sciences or Nutrition.

You will also have some experience working with scientific committees and understanding and awareness of general research management and administration policies and procedures.

In addition to the grant programmes, you will have the opportunity to contribute to other Research Funding activities such as the surveillance of the current research landscape and co-funding opportunities.
