Fundraising Officer
We are seeking a passionate and driven Fundraising Officer to join a charity that provides supported accommodation that enable people experiencing homelessness to Reclaim, Rebuild and Reshape their lives.
Position: Fundraising Officer
Salary: £27,000 per annum
Location: Chatham ME4 4PB / Hybrid
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

About the Role
As Fundraising Officer you will support the development and sustainability of the charity and their community project. Your primary focus will be to secure funding through grants, tenders, and partnerships, whilst building relationships with donors and stakeholders.
You will be responsible for identifying potential funders, crafting compelling funding applications, and maintaining donor relationships. Additionally, you’ll play a key role in shaping the fundraising strategy, organising engagement events, and monitoring the impact of fundraising efforts. The team has a really positive collective attitude to helping you do this, and they will suggest different tools and methods to stay on top of your work. But your being organised from the get-go is important.
Attention to detail: in all tasks, you will need to have a good eye for detail to make sure work is completed with a high level of accuracy.
Proactive: there are many activities to get involved with at Shelter, so being proactive ensures you get as much from your role as possible. Within your role you need to take initiative in setting up meetings, asking questions and suggesting/trying new ideas. Beyond this, taking advantage of volunteering in our shops or at events, and visiting local Shelter Hubs, is a great way to understand the cause and sector.
Willingness to be busy: everyone in the team has lots to do and has a range of responsibilities across different areas. To be successful in this role, you need to be willing to be busy during the working day and enjoy the variety this brings.
Flexibility: as this role will support work across the wider Community & Events team throughout the year, it is vital that the successful candidate is adaptable and willing to get stuck into different activities when needed. There will be occasional evening and weekend work to support events, for which time off in lieu will be given.

What you'll do:
Undertake key-working responsibilities for a caseload assigned by the Team Leader/ Manager

We are looking for a Fundraising Manager to lead on our fundraising by developing and implementing a strategy to secure core funding, as well as working with other managers to secure project funding. Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for developing ETL processes using Fabric and Synapse linking from a variety of data sources to a wide variety of targets on-prem, cloud platforms and in Azure. We’ll also rely on you to ensure business requirements for new data feeds or changes are understood and translated into efficient and effective technical solutions. Exploring new ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of data management across Shelter will be important too, as will transforming and centralising raw data from multiple platforms into user friendly reporting data. Overview of the role
A key role in the fundraising team, responsible for providing stewardship and support to Glass Door’s event & community fundraisers, while supporting the Fundraising Manager to achieve the team’s income targets.
What you will do as part of our team
Community and Event Fundraising Support
- Build and maintain relationships with community and event fundraisers, ensuring they are supported before, during and after their events.
- Support on certain fundraising, cultivation and stewardship events, including the annual Sleep Out and the annual supporter thank you event.
- Draft copy for, update and create community and event fundraising pages on the Glass Door website and promotional emails which can be sent through the Glass Door mailing platform.
- Support with identifying new prospective community supporters and assist with the development and fulfilment of targeted approaches.
- Ensure all supporters are thanked in a timely manner after their event.
- Manage the Glass Door Christmas carol concert, working with the Communications team to promote and market the event.
- Work closely with the Communications team to:
- Encourage fundraisers to share their fundraising stories for inclusion on social media and our website.

Other Fundraising Support
- Develop Glass Door’s schools giving programme, including designing engaging fundraising packs, writing successful charity of the year applications and delivering presentations and assemblies.
- Support on church fundraising, including delivering presentations to churches, attending fundraising events, promoting appeals and Glass Door events (e.g. Sleep Out) and liaising with church staff.

Fundraising Administration

- Create and update donor records on CRM, ensuring records are kept up to date, accurate and consistent at all times.

The service, Edward Alsop Court, offers specialist support to homeless men across a range of areas including re-offending behaviour, mental health issues, physical health needs and substance misuse. Edward Alsop Court implements and promotes the Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) model. This is an approach to supporting people out of homelessness, those who have experienced complex trauma or are diagnosed with a personality disorder. It also considers the psychological needs of staff: developing skills and knowledge, increasing motivation, job satisfaction and resilience. Staff receive monthly reflective practice and debriefs after any serious incidents. We have an on-site Psychologist 2 days per week, An on-site Social Worker 1.5 days per week and a Nurses Clinic on-site 4 days per week. With a GP clinic once a week in the service. We also have external support from Turning Point and CGL to support our customers with their substance misuse.
The working patterns included in this role are early shifts 7am-3pm and late shifts 1pm-9pm. This involves working 2.5 weekends of 7 weeks rolling rota.
No night shifts required.
