Summary

Main Responsibilities
Together, the Research Funding Officers will administer and manage the entire grants management life cycle, both pre- and post-award. The charity has a number of grant funding schemes, including career awards, larger project grants and strategic research, and you will be central in the delivery of these. You will be the primary point of contact for applicants and other stakeholders throughout the grant management process, ensuring that they are supported and any support is managed in a professional and timely manner, including communicating feedback to applicants on funding proposals. As part of the grant management process, you will become proficient in using the grant management system which will involve building application forms, setting up funding rounds and review panels and troubleshooting when required. You will be responsible for the involvement of people affected by diabetes in the various funding schemes. You will also be involved in the organisation and delivery of our annual networking events for our PhD funded students and fellows.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an individual who is interested in developing or expanding their career in research grants management within a growing grant-making charity. You will have a BSc in biomedical sciences or life sciences. You will also have:
* A strong interest in scientific and clinical research. An understanding of research funding processes is desirable.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills, and the ability to deliver rigorous processes, work proactively, independently and in a team are essential.
* You will be an excellent communicator, able to build confident working relationships at all levels - an ability to network and liaise with scientific, clinical, research and expert by experience communities will be key to this role.

JOB PURPOSE:

ROLE OVERVIEW
The key areas of responsibility include:
To support centre sessions which run on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10.00 am to 2.30 pm, under the direction of the Rehab Team Lead and with the assistance of volunteers.
- Prepare cognitive tasks for clients
- Support clients to complete tasks
- Help to present educational brain injury workshops
- Facilitate conversation and encourage clients to follow centre guidelines for appropriate behaviour
- Support the Rehab Team Lead to facilitate other sessions throughout the day, which may include art, boardgames, discussions
To attend team meetings, planning sessions and rehab meetings as required, either in person or via Zoom.
To be the first point of contact for new enquiries and to provide administrative support to enable new enquiries (clients and carers) to access Headway Surrey’s rehab services by:
- Responding to all enquiries (telephone, letter, email or online referral forms) for support services
- Accurately recording all enquiry details and documentation on the CRM
- Ensuring all enquiries are followed up in a timely manner and chased up accordingly
- Collecting and gathering documentation
- Supporting clients to complete Brain Injury ID Card application forms, issued by Headway UK.
- Liaising with Adult Social Care and signposting to other agencies/services where appropriate
INITIALLY
To undertake an induction program given by the Services Manager or CEO. Observation of sessions, training on CRM, telephone system and other processes/systems.
OTHER TASKS
As a small organisation we plan carefully, but sometimes, medical and unplanned absences may present themselves. We may need you to cover / help the team. Training will be given, so that you are prepared for these eventualities.
To provide occasional support in the wider administration duties of the organisation as directed by the Service's Manager.

Why we need you
We are seeking a Fundraising Coordinator with a passion for the Future Frontiers mission (you do not need to have previous experience of fundraising) who will play a vital supporting role to secure income that is needed to deliver the Future Frontiers programme for a growing number of young people.
The successful candidate will report to the Senior Fundraising Manager and work closely with the Fundraising and Partnerships teams. Your primary focus will be on charitable Trusts and Foundations: researching suitable funding opportunities and writing external-facing communications. You will arrange programme visits to meet with young people and develop high-quality case studies. In addition, you will play a role in Future Frontiers' wider income generation work through researching potential business supporters and working with people participating in fundraising activities including employee fundraising and challenge events. You will complete research to find charitable trusts, foundations and businesses that have the potential to support Future Frontiers for the first time and keep detailed notes for the fundraising and partnerships teams. You will use this knowledge to support the pipeline of funding opportunities for the coming years, including making recommendations for the amount of funding we ask for and what it could go towards.
Enquiries and applications
You will write enquiries and applications for funding that are tailored to each recipient and make a convincing case for how their support will make a difference.
Reports and case studies
You will write reports that are tailored to each recipient and demonstrate how their funding has made a difference. This will involve arranging programme visits to speak with young people and develop case studies.
Supporter engagement
You will support the planning and delivery of high-quality, tailored communications and engagement opportunities for existing and potential supporters. This will include supporting individual volunteer fundraisers and employees of business partners.
Record-keeping
You will ensure that key information about our fundraising activity is stored appropriately and with high attention to detail.

As Community Fundraiser for the North-East, you will help deliver our strategic plans and objectives, by generating and growing income through community fundraising activities. Our community fundraisers also help raise awareness by engaging people with our work, and recruiting and supporting the fundraising of individuals, challenge event participants, our Fundraising Groups and Charity of the Year partnerships.

You’ll be the strategic advisor to our research leaders, ensuring every decision is backed by solid financial analysis and aligned with our commercial objectives. Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Financial Leadership: Partner with Research Directors to drive financial performance, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Commercial Insight: Provide insightful analysis on profitability, project margins, and return on investment, turning complex data into actionable business strategies.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the financial planning process, from budgeting to forecasting, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
- Performance Monitoring: Develop and implement KPIs to track project performance, driving continuous improvement and identifying growth opportunities.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the financial liaison between senior management and project teams, translating financial data into compelling narratives that inform strategic decisions.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring the long-term sustainability and profitability of our research projects.
- Bids & Costing: Experience working in bids and costing.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Commercial Savvy: You’re more than a number cruncher—you understand the commercial landscape and can navigate it with ease.
- Analytical Excellence: You have a knack for turning data into insights and insights into action.
- Stakeholder Management: You're a strong communicator, capable of influencing decision-makers at all levels.
- Experience: Proven experience in a finance business partnering role, ideally within research, consulting, or a similar industry.
- Qualification: ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified, finalist or part qualified, with a strong background in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.

Head of Advice Services

The Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Head of Advice Services to lead our dedicated and diverse staff and volunteer team, to develop our advice services and to ensure we continue to deliver high-quality information and advice. The successful applicant will be a confident and positive leader who is energetic, resourceful, and organised. You will relish change and possess substantial operational management experience, ideally within a high performing multi-channel advice service or similar, preferably with a good understanding of Citizens Advice or similar advice function. Frequent travel to our offices in East Hampshire is essential.

Key duties and responsibilities:
- Work alongside the Partnerships Manager to implement the fundraising strategy with a focus on building unrestricted income levels for City of Trees.
- Assist the Partnerships Manager in managing existing key funder relationships and take the lead on developing new funder relationships and revenue streams.

- Work closely with the communications team on digital fundraising and events.
To be successful in this role you will need a broad experience across multiple fundraising disciplines i.e. legacy, individual giving, community and corporate fundraising. You will also need experience in planning, organising and delivering fundraising campaigns and activities, plus Experience of using a CRM system such as DonorFy, salesforce, Raisers Edge or ThankQ.

What the role involves
- Work with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team and Board to set the financial strategy for Safer London.
- Lead the development and delivery of the Finance function, including financial systems planning, risk management and payroll and pension activities.
- Lead on the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget and oversee all financial reporting - including forecasts, management accounts, cashflow statements and annual audit.
- As a member of the SLT, take collaborative corporate responsibility for the leadership of the organisation.
