About the Role
In this exciting position, you’ll develop and deliver an engaging programme of fundraising events and challenge events, helping to drive income generation for Waverley Care. From organising events at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to building strong relationships with donors, you’ll play a key role in supporting our ambitious goal of zero new HIV transmission by 2030.
Key Responsibilities:
· Be the first point of contact for supporters and fundraisers across all channels.
· Develop and manage fundraising and challenge events, including volunteer recruitment.
· Build meaningful relationships with fundraisers and partners to secure repeat support.
· Manage CRM systems, track income, and process Gift Aid claims.
· Support event delivery, from sourcing prizes to promoting raffles and competitions.
Location
Flexible remote/hybrid role based across Scotland, with opportunities to work from our Edinburgh or Glasgow hubs.

The role is a key part of the Doctors of the World (DOTW) UK Policy and Advocacy team, contributing to the implementation of our three-year strategy and maximising the impact of our policy and advocacy function. The team focuses on influencing UK health and migration policy, improving access to NHS services for minoritised communities and populations and strengthening the right to health in the UK.

Role Summary
The Director of International Communications will create and drive implementation of ProVeg's international communications strategy. The primary objectives are to amplify the activities and successes of the country offices and international programmes, enhance ProVeg's global visibility and reach new public audiences, and influence the public and policy narrative on healthy sustainable food systems. This role involves leading a dynamic and transformation-oriented team and working closely with international stakeholders such as country directors and partner organisations to develop innovative communication solutions.

Responsibilities
Strategic Communication and Transformation:
- Develop and execute a new international communications strategy to enhance ProVeg’s visibility and highlight the successes of the country offices.
- Establish ProVeg as a leading voice in plant-based nutrition and sustainable food systems through targeted campaigns and media outreach.
- Design and implement processes for effectively and quickly adapting country-specific developments for international communication.
- Oversee the development of content and own and third party channel strategies to maximise engagement with diverse B2B and B2C audiences.
- Integrate AI tools and strategies responsibly and innovatively (supported by leadership and (external) experts).
Fundraising Support and Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with the international fundraising team to ensure alignment between communications strategies and fundraising goals.
- Develop compelling narratives and campaigns that inspire donor engagement and attract funding opportunities.
- Leverage communications channels, including digital platforms, media outreach, and storytelling, to showcase ProVeg’s impact and amplify fundraising initiatives..
Reputation Management:
- Enhance ProVeg’s public image through strategic media relations, innovative visual content, and compelling storytelling.
- Develop and implement crisis communication plans, identifying opportunities and risks for brand reputation.
- Balance B2B and B2C communications priorities to maintain positive brand perception.
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Lead a multicultural and multidisciplinary team, fostering creativity, innovation, impact and effectiveness.
- Promote a culture of collaboration and continuous development within the team.
Internal and External Collaboration:
- Work closely with country offices and international partners to create synergies and strengthen global strategies.
- Work closely with the Research and Policy teams to ensure our research and advocacy activities are supported by timely communications to drive real-world impact.
- Build and maintain relationships with media, influencers, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Manage global communications budgets and ensure cost-effectiveness.
Qualifications
Required:
- Proven experience in strategic communication in NGOs with an international focus, including those with a presence in the global south.
- Track record of developing targeted communications strategies to drive engagement with different audiences, including B2B and B2C.
- Demonstrated ability to design and execute communications strategies that drive advocacy goals and influence policymakers.
- Excellent skills in media relations and leading complex or multi-country communication projects.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and transform teams in an international context.
- Experience in fostering creativity, innovation, and collaboration within teams.
- Experience with visual media (videos, infographics, etc.).
- Expertise in crisis communication and managing brand perception.
- Experience in crafting inclusive messaging and ensuring culturally appropriate communications across diverse regions and audiences.
- Experience collaborating with fundraising teams to create compelling narratives for donor engagement and retention.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills (minimum C2-level English).
- Strong analytical skills and experience measuring the success of communication strategies.
- In-depth understanding of the challenges and opportunities in sustainable food systems.
Preferred:
- Comfortable serving as a spokesperson and representing the organization at high-profile events or in media engagements.
- Familiarity with data protection regulations, including GDPR.
- Proficiency in utilizing data-driven insights and communication technologies to refine strategies and improve outcomes.

About the role
The £4.5m Young Gamechangers Fund (YGF) is an exciting UK funding initiative that provides grants of up to £20,000 a year to young people transforming communities into safer, more sustainable and more inclusive places to live. Funding is provided by the Co-op Foundation, Co-op and #iwill fund, and is delivered in partnership by Restless Development, Global Fund for Children and the Co-op Foundation. In addition to funding, successful applicants also get access to peer support networks, training and mentoring. Importantly, the fund is co-designed with young activists, through a Youth Steering Group.
All elements of the programme are youth-led and grantee centred, with a commitment to seeking input from young people at all stages.
The Youth Power Coordinator will play a leading role in ensuring that our diverse group of grantees - the Young Gamechangers – receive the support, training and guidance they need to help their vision come to life. The Young Gamechangers are active across the length and breadth of the country, and a whole range of issues, whether that be
addressing the needs of working class Northern Muslim women; supporting young trans people; eradicating fly tipping; or drawing from their lived experience to support other autistic young people.
We are looking for someone who is excited by youth leadership and wants to support young people to drive positive social change in communities across the UK. You might have worked in the youth sector already or been a young volunteer or activist yourself. You are organised and can manage multiple tasks, enjoy helping people work through strategic and operational challenges and are comfortable with getting on the phone or online to speak to people at short notice.
The role will involve working closely with colleagues based within Global Fund for Children (GFC), our delivery partner on the fund. It will be part of Restless Development’s growing team in the UK that supports our network of young leaders.

Key responsibilities
1. Development and delivery of the support offer
● Coordination of the support offer, ensuring systems, processes andguidance are in place to support the delivery for all elements, including the one-to-one support; mentoring; training; and networking.
● Play a leading role in further developing the Support Offer to granteesbased on emerging needs, feedback and learning
Working with staff and consultants to design and deliver training for the Young Gamechangers, both online and in-person, and other resources
● Support – and where required, lead on – the organisation of in-person and online events, including celebration events bringing together cohorts of Young Gamechangers
● Ensure that all training and other events are accessible for all participants, working with safeguarding and other colleagues where required.
2. Network building and support for grantees
● Build strong trust-based relationships with grantees, scheduling regular connections – both in-person and online
● Working with grantees to establish specific support needs, and identifying mentoring, training and resources to address these – allowing each grantee to get the most out of their grant
● Working closely with colleagues, including safeguarding leads, to ensure the safety, security and wellbeing of grantees and young people involved in the fund
● Helping to build an active network of Young Gamechangers by providing opportunities for them to connect, share and learn from each other – working closing with the wider UK Youth Power team, and the global Youth Collective
3. Support the wider delivery of the fund
● Working with other members of the YGF team, including colleagues at GFC and the Youth Steering Group, to support the participatory co-design process, and youth-led grant-making.
● Working with the Communications team to highlight case studies and support youth-led storytelling, in line with the communications strategy
● Working with the Evaluation and Learning Coordinator to ensure monitoring, evaluation and learning data is effectively captured
4. Other
● Work closely with colleagues to understand the changing youth sector landscape in the UK, helping to identify and develop partnership opportunities with other UK-based organisations
● Contributing to agency wide learning, working with colleagues across the global agency to build expertise in funding and supporting youth social action
● You will occasionally be required to work on weekends and/or public holidays, for which time off in lieu will be granted

You’ll have a passion for organising and a flexible approach. You will help ensure that meetings and events take place in suitable venues, at convenient times, and are accurately minuted. You’ll liaise with the external premises facilities team as and when necessary to ensure the smooth and safe running of the office environment. You’ll also act as the main point of contact for external contractors such as our phone/ internet providers.
You’ll support the CEO with diary management and help us ensure Board meetings, volunteer events, and staff meetings/activities take place throughout the year. Our Board meet six times a year on a Tuesday evening, so you’ll need to be available for those.
