About the role
This is a new role that follows a decision to focus our new organisational strategy for 2024-2027 on growing our external influence and that of our network of 47 community foundations across the UK.

Internal strategic communications
Key responsibilities:

Line management of the Communications and Marketing Manager, as well as any other staff or contractors that are recruited on a temporary or permanent basis.

We are looking for a confident and driven marketer who is eager to join a hard-working and ambitious direct marketing team. As Senior Direct Marketing Officer in a FTC role, you will operate with a level of autonomy, build excellent agency relationships and deliver outstanding fundraising campaigns. Working with a number of teams and suppliers, you’ll be delivering direct marketing activity through a range of channels and media. The programme is an evolving one with change and growth happening in a lot of interesting areas. Your role will be to help to develop the supporter acquisition programme; taking responsibility for running large projects that will improve the long-term success of campaigns. You’ll also be responsible for delivering exceptional fundraising campaigns to achieve ambitious income targets.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
Campaign Management
· Plan, manage and deliver successful campaigns across a range of channels and media.

The Role
You will be joining the Charity at an exciting time as they work towards the plan to become a fully independent Charity by 2025. You will be responsible for overseeing an ambitious fundraising strategy as well as leading the capital appeal to expand the neonatal unit.
A key element of this role will be to identify new opportunities to grow and develop new income streams, providing team leadership to Charity team and their activities to build the fundraising and grant-making capacity.
As Charity Director you will play a key role in developing new strategies and diversifying income streams as well as working closely with the Chair of the Charity to a devise a brand-new five-year plan for the Charity.
About you
You must have had significant experience of leading a small or medium sized charity or have been a senior manager within a larger charity, including demonstrable experience in leading successful change management and service developments as well as be able to demonstrate that you have successfully worked towards targets. BEfriend is seeking a Befriending Coordinator to join our Befriending Project aimed at combatting isolation across the London Borough of Ealing.
We have been operating in Ealing since 1994, and are proud to celebrate our 30th anniversary this year! Our Befriending Project supports people who are isolated and experiencing chronic loneliness. It provides a lifeline to people living alone who might go for days at a time not seeing a single person.
Key Tasks:
- Client Assessments: You will support a caseload of clients from their initial referral through to the end of their time with us. This will involve processing referrals, conducting assessments, matching with volunteers and conducting ongoing six-monthly reviews. You will provide regular telephone contact whilst they are on our waiting list and signpost to appropriate services as required.
- Matching and Coordination: You will interview potential volunteer befrienders and work with the Lead Coordinator to successfully link them with individuals in Ealing who are experiencing isolation. You will monitor the matches through monthly reports from the volunteers and six-monthly client reviews.
- Support and Supervision: You will provide support to the volunteers when required, particularly during the first month of their match. After that you will conduct six-monthly reviews and ad hoc support.

About the role
As a Business Support Officer, you will support individual areas and provide positive and timely business support for the Care and Support function to meet their delivery of organisation business processes. Big Issue Changing Lives CIC is looking for an Support and Outreach Assistant to support the direct the direct delivery of services to individuals participating in Big Issue enterprises, including selling the Big Issue magazine. The core of the role is facilitating access for members of our Roma Communities to the Hand Up Service and other local services, resources and networks required to address the barriers they are facing to moving forwards out of poverty. Where local services and resources are not available you will also support the Outreach Team with the delivery of information, guidance and some direct interventions, such as training sessions, directly.
This is self-starter role in which you’ll be responsible for connecting with potential service users within the Roma community, introducing the service to them, sharing information from our Hand Up plus services and supporting them to engage with the core Hand Up service. You’ll be working within a small team of Outreach workers and will work to maintain a set of Service Standards which help maintain the quality of the service nationally.
The role is highly flexible and no two days are the same. You’ll bring your own experience and knowledge to the role, as well as your ability to speak Romanian. We will support you to build on that through an ongoing training and development programme which aims to ensure all Hand Up Service Team members have up to date, relevant, knowledge in key areas including housing, benefits, debt, immigration and more. In the course of a day, you’ll usually be working with service users across multiple of these issues and supporting engagement with a wide range of external agencies such as health services, local authorities, charities and more, to get access to services for those you are supporting.
Your main roles and responsibilities will be:
- Undertake phone and in person outreach to introduce the Hand Up service to Roma Big Issues vendors
- Delivery of direct intervention to Roma vendors using guidance and resources provided
- Join meetings with Roma Vendors and Outreach Workers to support with action planning and provision of support and guidance
- Support with translation and interpretation within your local team to enable accessibility of the service for Roma vendors
- Support the local Hand Up Service to build current knowledge of local and national agencies that can support Roma vendors

- Demonstrable excellence in copywriting and editorial skills
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, media communications or a related field, or similar professional level of experience of at least two years
- Understands importance of brand and producing powerful and engaging content that delights and inspires our loyal supporters

New Vacancy for Operations Director at a well-respected charity in Newport
Do you want to make a difference with your leadership skills? Have you considered a leadership role within a well-respected charity that is making a difference in Wales?
The Gap Wales works to fill the gap between key needs in our community and current public services. The majority of our work is with asylum seekers and refugees. We work with them to help improve their well-being, advocate to meet essential needs and work in partnership with other local services.
After years of helping this community integrate with our wider community, The Gap Wales was registered as a CIO in 2019. Since then it has developed an enviable reputation, including glowing praise in both the UK Parliament and Senedd Cymru. We work in partnership with Newport City Council, Pobl Homes and many other specialist charities.
Last year we completed a Strategic Review of our charity to help us grow well. Demand for our services continues to grow as does the giving from many individuals and bodies who support the positive difference that we are making.
Now we need the right leadership in place. Working with both our highly skilled passionate staff and the Board of Trustees, this new Operations Director role will help lead The Gap Wales into the next phase. Come and join us on this exciting journey.
Although on-site people management is an important part of this role, there is also the opportunity to work remotely every Friday.
