Founded by Queen Alexandra in 1912, Alexandra Rose Charity (ARC) has a long history of supporting people experiencing poverty in the UK. Our vision is for everyone to have access to healthy and affordable food, and our mission is to give families on low incomes access to fresh fruit and vegetables in their local communities whilst advocating for systemic change to address food insecurity and health inequalities.
Since 2014, ARC has pioneered the use of financial incentives to improve access to healthy food and combat food insecurity through our Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg projects. To date, we have supported over 11,000 families, including over 20,000 children, to access £3.5 million of fresh fruit and vegetables in their local communities.
To deliver this scale, we work with 73 children and family centres and community organisations, 69 market traders and independent retailers, two fruit and vegetable vans and one fruit and vegetable delivery box scheme. We estimate that our projects have generated a total economic value added of almost £9 million for the local economies of the eight locations where we work: five London Boroughs, Barnsley, Liverpool and Glasgow.
As part of our new five-year strategy, we want to grow our reach and impact as part of a national movement where Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg projects are embedded in local and national policies and seen as a key intervention for transforming the diets of communities across the UK.
About the role
Location: London and the South East. Home working, with a requirement to regularly attend external meetings and events (mainly London but on occasions elsewhere in the UK)
Hours: Full-time but will consider requests for part-time (4 days per week)
We are seeking a talented and passionate Communications Manager to lead the creation and dissemination of compelling content that elevates our brand, engages our audiences, and positions ARC as a thought leader in the provision of financial incentives for fruit and vegetables.
Working with the Head of Advocacy, Impact and Communications, you will be responsible for building our communications into a coherent strategy and driving it forward, in collaboration with team members across the charity. You’ll help us to grow and extend our reach to key audiences, with demonstrable experience planning, creating and delivering high quality, engaging and informative communications and content across channels including our website, social media and publications.
You’ll take the lead on media and PR activities for the charity, driving proactive media coverage, managing press bids, and pitching stories to national and local journalists, so significant experience working in media relations is essential.
You’ll be a strategic, creative communicator, adept at keeping up to date with the latest trends and sector developments.

We are part of the way through our ten-year strategy focused on creating a safer society for all children, and its delivery will only be possible with our donors’ support. The Income Generation Directorate, which leads the NSPCC’s efforts to raise funds, has evolved into one of the most successful in the sector.
Following a review of the directorate’s income, statutory funding was identified as a significant growth area for the NSPCC, with a new team created in response. Over a four-year period, the Statutory Team has built its pipeline to now secure circa £5 million per annum. There is significant opportunity for further growth, with the team’s role expanding from working with statutory funders across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, to also working on research and tendering opportunities.
WHERE YOU WOULD FIT IN
We have an exciting opportunity for a fundraiser to become part of a successful and motivated team securing significant income from national, devolved and local government, research grant-makers and commercial tenders. These broad income streams are vital to ensuring the NSPCC can help millions of children each year.
The recruited fundraiser will work at both a national and local level to secure grants to help the Statutory Team achieve a new annual income target of circa £5 million. Working across the charity, they will build relationships with colleagues and senior stakeholders, and source and share information with funders through engaging written materials, phone conversations and face-to-face meetings. Alongside managing their own portfolio, they will support team members to maximise new statutory funding streams for the NSPCC.
Experience of developing high-value relationships and using influencing techniques to secure income is essential to this role, as are strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to develop new proposals. The post holder will also need to identify and pursue new opportunities, and be organised and flexible enough to respond to the evolving needs of our supporters.
The wider Trusts & Statutory Team has grown considerably in recent years to become one of the highest performing at the NSPCC– with a focus on pursuing the most transformative, highest-value opportunities.
The Major Giving Department is open and supportive with an active social life. With bespoke training opportunities, room for significant development and growth, and the support of colleagues and resource teams, the role will provide the opportunity to make a positive change for children and families across the UK.

Job purpose

What you’ll be doing
As our Policy and Advocacy Manager, you will play a key role in shaping and advancing River Action’s political and policy influence, working closely with the Head of Legal and Policy, Chief Executive and wider team to develop and execute an impactful policy and advocacy strategy.
River Action is the Co-Secretariat for the APPG on Water Pollution, offering our Policy and Advocacy Manager a unique opportunity to shape the policy direction for River Action and also to influence policy development across Parliament.
You will also work closely with our public affairs agency who manage our daily Westminster activities.

ELBA is a leading social regeneration charity in east London. Purpose of the job
ELBA’s Connect Team (within the Community Team) deliver a range of employee volunteering initiatives which build the capacity of third sector organisations in east London by utilising the professional business skills of volunteers. The Connect Team has three key areas of activity: placing trustees through the BoardBuilders Programme, creating coaching relationships via Leaders in Partnership, and delivering a range of consultancy and capacity building work including facilitating workshops, training sessions and initiatives to benefit east London community organisations. Part of this work also involves providing support for the beneficiaries of community organisations through workshops focused on developing skills and confidence.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting ELBA’s Connect Team to deliver exciting, innovative projects across all areas of work, which meet both the needs of the east London community and the expectations of corporate partners.

Job Description
Main duties
- Identify and build relationships with a range of community stakeholders, including charities, community groups, social enterprises, education institutions, faith groups etc in east London.
- Assess organisational needs and develop creative corporate volunteering opportunities to meet the needs and build the capacity of community stakeholders.
- Develop relationships and effective partnerships with key stakeholders in the community including the local authority and community infrastructure support organisations to maximise the impact of ELBA’s work.
- Identify corporate volunteering opportunities that can facilitate large-scale participations and/or collaboration for ELBA corporate partners.
- Support the delivery of all Connect Team activity and the wider Community Works programme. In particular, lead on the BoardBuilders programme; matching and supporting charities place business volunteers as trustees on their board.
- Proactively market volunteering programmes to ELBA corporate partners.
- Source, place and manage cohorts of corporate volunteers in line with business plan and project targets.
- Develop effective working relationships with community affairs team with ELBA corporate partners, ensuring that these companies are supported to develop employee volunteering and other initiatives that meet their targets, priorities and strategies.

The outreach department supports people and dogs in crisis, such as those escaping domestic abuse or experiencing homelessness. They include Freedom, a specialist dog fostering service for people fleeing domestic abuse, and Pets and Housing projects that support people and their dogs experiencing homelessness and advocating for people to be accommodated with their pets at all stages of their housing journey.

In 2024, the Sortition Foundation launched the 858 Project to mark 858 years since King Henry II introduced juries in the UK. Juries have proven essential to our legal system, and now it's time to put ordinary people at the heart of politics with permanent, powerful citizens' assemblies, starting in Greater Manchester.
The Sortition Foundation, alongside democracy movement allies, is campaigning for a permanent citizens' assembly (CA) in Greater Manchester. Greater Manchester's governance is flawed, with a mayoral authority backed by a small, indirectly elected Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), leaving residents with just one vote every four years. A permanent CA would address this deficit by giving people a voice and holding leaders accountable. A CA would not only benefit Manchester but strengthen the Mayor’s decision-making and boost the region’s influence. As metro mayors expand nationwide, this campaign sets a powerful precedent, positioning Manchester as a leader in democratic reform.
About the role
The Sortition Foundation and its allies already have over 10,000 registered supporters in Greater Manchester—your job is to use a transformative organising approach to activate them and grow this base even more! You’ll help get people along to the campaign launch in the spring, then work with active supporters to use door-knocking and other methods to bring people together to demand greater democracy in Greater Manchester. Crucially, you’ll collaborate with individual supporters and community groups to develop a shared vision for the specific powers and responsibilities of the citizens' assembly, then use a series of escalating tactics to collectively lobby the Mayor and GMCA. You’ll be strategically and emotionally supported by the campaigns director and work as part of a small, crack team, including the head of press, head of public affairs, and digital campaigner, covering press, messaging, digital supporter acquisition and building relationships with organisations, institutions, and influential individuals across Greater Manchester.

Policy Manager role description
You will report to the Head of Policy and Research and be part of a small but growing sub-team leading on our policy advocacy work and winning and delivering water efficiency research projects.

To provide executive assistance and support to enable the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team to work more effectively. Specific responsibilities
An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:
• Undertake a variety of tasks to manage demand and help prioritise the CEO’s time, including proactive diary management, managing emails, composing and preparing (sometimes confidential) correspondence, arranging travel and briefing on upcoming commitments and responsibilities in advance of meetings.
• Similarly, provide support to the Director of Development & External Affairs and other directors in managing external contacts associated with our policy and influence work, including scheduling, supporting and arranging travel for external meetings with government officials, MPs and partners, and assisting in responding to (sometimes confidential) correspondence.
• Support the CEO in managing the Board of trustees and its two subgroups (Finance subgroup and the People Sub-group). This will include supporting the CEO in forward planning and agenda setting for meetings, scheduling meetings, confirming attendees, organising catering, supporting the CEO and Directors in the preparation of papers, ensuring meetings run smoothly as hybrid format and minute taking.
• Supporting the Director of Finance and Operations (who is currently Company Secretary) to ensure statutory Centre for Sustainable Energy 2024 registers (for Companies House and the Charity Commission) are maintained and statutory returns and forms are filed in a timely manner to ensure legal and regulatory compliance (including collecting required annual returns from all directors and trustees).
• Support the CEO and chair of trustees in ensuring the development and maintenance of good governance practice, including regular Trustee skills audits, Trustee recruitment, induction & training, maintenance of trustee tenures and review of relevant governing documents including Board and Sub-group Terms of Reference documents.

Essential attributes for this role include:
• Excellent IT skills, using all elements of Microsoft Office 365 or equivalent, including Sharepoint and Teams.
• Skilled in building relationships with stakeholders, including staff, board members, external partners.
• Skilled problem solver, able to anticipate needs and think critically/ laterally. Understanding senior management priorities, thinking ahead and anticipating needs.
• Knowledge and understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Trustees board of a charity, in relation to those of a senior executive team.
• Experience of supporting senior management to manage their workloads, diary management, minuting meetings, handling confidential information with discretion, drafting executive papers, etc.
• Significant experience of managing a demanding and fast-paced workload, sometimes with competing demands and deadlines.

You will join our Policy, Insights, and External Affairs Directorate, working within the Communications Team. Reporting to the Head of Communications, you will be responsible for crafting powerful narratives, engaging with national media, and leading ambitious campaigns that elevate the NYA’s profile and the importance of youth work across England.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement creative media and campaign strategies to raise NYA’s profile and influence key stakeholders.
- Build and maintain relationships with national journalists, bloggers, and influencers to generate media coverage on youth work issues.
- Write compelling press releases, blogs, and opinion pieces that showcase NYA’s thought leadership and impact.
- Plan and execute national campaigns, ensuring messaging aligns with NYA’s mission and objectives.
- Monitor media coverage, track emerging trends, and respond swiftly to breaking news relevant to youth work.
- Support and prepare NYA spokespeople for media interviews, ensuring consistent and effective messaging.
- Collaborate with corporate partners and youth sector organisations to maximise media opportunities.
- Develop strategic relationships with high-profile supporters, including celebrities and influencers, to enhance NYA’s reach.
- Assist in media promotion for key events and conferences, ensuring maximum visibility and engagement.

About the Lead HR Officer role
In this generalist role, you will focus on the recruitment and retention of talented staff by helping to foster a positive, inclusive and empowering working environment that shapes our organisational culture. You will play an integral part in shaping policies, championing best practice, managing employee relations and leading mental health and wellbeing initiatives.
As Lead HR Officer you will have both a strategic and operational focus, from incorporating EDI into our practices to providing specialist support and expertise in areas such as recruitment, performance management and employee relations. This role is also responsible for the line management of the HR Coordinator, and you will at times deputise for the Director of People and Culture at HR Group and Board of Trustee meetings.
About you

Exposure to HR systems and databases such as NaturalHR and external resources including HR-inform would be beneficial, as would knowledge of payroll management, experience of standing in for more senior managers and a Mental Health First aid qualification.
