About the role
Smart Works is looking to appoint a Head of London Service Delivery for 12 months, to start in September 2024. This is a maternity cover role for an established leadership role within the Smart Works staff team.
The Head of London Service Delivery is responsible for leading the delivery of the Smart Works service across London. Last year the Smart Works centres in London supported over 3500 unemployed women from across London, and the demand for our service is expected to rise significantly in the coming months.
By effectively leading and managing a team of nine, the Head of London Service Delivery will ensure Smart Works is well positioned to meet the growing demand for our services and maintain quality as the charity grows. They will ensure that every client who visits Smart Works leaves their appointment feeling confident and with the best possible chance of job success.
They will monitor performance against KPIs and will work with their team to ensure there is a steady flow of referrals, the volunteer community is engaged and supported and client feedback is consistently positive.
More broadly, the Head of London Service Delivery plays an important role in creating a welcoming environment and a supportive team culture in all three London centres. The successful applicants will need to build strong working relationships across the staff and volunteer teams, as well as with external partners and other senior staff working across the 11 centres across the UK.

Duties and responsibilities
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the successful candidate will lead a range of activities including:
- Being responsible for delivering a quality, consistent service across all three London centres; this includes the delivery of virtual appointments
- Leading and developing the Service Delivery team working in London, ensuring strong performance against targets and KPIs and creating a supportive team culture
- Representing London in group forums, sharing learnings and best practice with other Smart Works centres
- Acting as a key public brand ambassador for Smart Works Charity in London, especially within the referral partner community
- Day-to-day management of the client CRM system in London, ensuring complete and timely data capture
- Accountability for the management, retention, development and growth of London volunteer community
- Safeguarding Officer for London and the Smart Works Group

Benefits, terms, and conditions
- Full-time role
- Salary of £38,000 - £40,000 depending on experience
- Monday-Friday with typical working hours 9 am -5 pm in line with centre opening Hours. Whilst occasional work from home days can be accommodated, due to the nature of the role, it cannot bedone remotely. We are happy to discuss flexible working
- The role will be based across all three Smart Works centres in London, with the successful applicant being required to regularly spend time in all three centres. The centres are located in Islington, Ladbroke Grove and Croydon
- There may be occasional evening and weekend work as the successful candidate will be part of the wider centre team, supporting with networking and key events support

ROLE SUMMARY
The Head of Fundraising & Events will contribute to the growth of upReach through the raising of significant funds; you will have oversight of income generation from various sources including major donors, individuals, trusts & foundations and a portfolio of events. The role will suit innovative individuals with significant experience of fundraising from major donors and at least one of the other specified income streams, and event planning.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
The Head of Fundraising & Events will support upReach's mission by meeting financial targets, recognising when to make the fundraising ‘ask’ and leading the annual budget process. You will use clear, creative written communication to produce convincing cases for support, represent the charity at relevant networking events, work closely with the upReach Development Board and act as an ambassador for the organisation.
Reporting to the Director of Income Generation and External Engagement you will manage three direct reports and support individuals participating in the Future Charity Leaders Programme (upReach’s graduate scheme). Role Purpose
Provide strategic leadership for KLS’ Refugee Family Programme, ensuring that programme direction and delivery is strategically aligned, responds to learning and changes in context, and maximises our impact in the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing clear and steady leadership and management to all aspects of our newly formed Refugee Family programme, which has grown out of previous separate projects to better meet the holistic needs of people we support.

Administration

This role will involve regular travel in order to build connections with potential partners and to develop relationships with all of our farms. About Jamie’s Farm
Jamie’s Farm is a charity which helps young people to flourish at home, in education and in the community through an intensive weeklong immersion in rural life. During a busy residential stay, young people help us run large working livestock farms and tackle many challenging and unfamiliar jobs, designed to offer everyone an opportunity for achievement, thereby building their self-esteem and confidence. They live in a supportive family environment that encourages them to push themselves out of their comfort zone. Our therapeutic input makes use of individual and group sessions to allow children to reflect on their lives on the farm and back home, to draw out tangible strategies for improvements to be realised when they return home.
Our programme is shown to have long term positive impacts on the lives of the young people we support. At the end of their visit, 66% of all young people showed improved mental wellbeing. Six weeks after their visit, of those with concerning attendance, 67% were no longer of concern. Six months after their visit, of those previously at risk of permanent exclusion, 64% were no longer at risk. These dramatic changes are only possible through the combined efforts of the entire Jamie’s Farm team.
Partnerships Manager Role
Jamie’s Farm is quickly growing to help meet the increasing needs of young people from around the UK. The legacy of the pandemic, increasing mental health challenges and the cost-of-living crisis are all causing more children than ever to need the support of programmes like ours. Our existing farms are all full to capacity and booked many months ahead. As part of our strategic plan, we wish to grow our capacity and expand our geographical presence so that we can help more children, from more communities, during the second decade of Jamie’s Farm’s history.
The Partnerships Manager plays a crucial role in the next phase of Jamie’s Farm’s growth. Our new farm in Skipton opened its doors to young people for day visits in April 2023 and is currently undergoing development as another residential farm. We have also just purchased a second farm near Bath, which is currently being developed. Combined, these two sites will allow us to work with another 80 partners and support almost 1,000 more young people every year.
The Partnerships Manager’s principal task will be finding and developing these new partnerships. This will involve building relationships with schools, local authorities, academy chains and other charities around the country, sharing the benefits of a Jamie’s Farm programme and supporting them to make a visit possible. The Partnerships Manager will also work closely with other members of the HQ team to develop and expand other earned income streams, all of which are used to directly subsidise our groups of visiting young people.

Everything we do is designed to help people find belonging, purpose and hope. That looks different for each person. But most of our activities are rooted in relationship – whether that’s bacon butty breakfasts, small group sessions, back-to-work projects or our annual holiday.
ACT is a registered charity with the board of trustees drawn from within the church, including the Rector. Occasionally we invite other trustees with specific expertise. ACT has a total income of around £400,000 per annum, five salaried staff, and over 100 volunteers from within the church. Staff are employed by St Aldates PCC and seconded to the ACT Charity with the Head of Charity line managed by the St Aldates COO.
ST ALDATES and ACT CHARITY
ACT has a strong connection with St Aldates Church which supports the ministry with people, practical support and use of office and gathering spaces. The Head of Charity is key to leading the outreach work of St Aldates.
As a city centre church, working alongside people who are poor or marginalised is a key part of St Aldates’ ministry and is carried out largely through ACT.
We are excited about what God is doing in our midst. We are seeing people come to faith in Jesus on a weekly basis, and we are pioneering new ways of discipling people to make a difference in every area of their lives. We are passionate about connecting with and supporting people who are street homeless and those in or leaving local prisons through our ACT ministry.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Crucial to the success of ACT is the Head of Charity, who provides leadership and vision, ensures that its activities are underpinned by prayer, and that this work remains central to the ministry of St Aldates.
As the Head of Charity, you will drive the charity's mission and vision alongside the Board, ensuring our community receives the best possible support.
You will have a heart for those who have been marginalised, and experience of running a business or charity. Your role will be to lead staff and volunteers in the vision and manage funds and key projects. Partnering with others across other charities, key stakeholders and donors you will become a strong ambassador for the charity.
