We are seeking a Therapeutic Practitioner to join our newly established Health Team. This specialist role will enhance our current provision and improve the quality and breadth of mental health support available to young people. The successful candidate will work within the Health Team, in collaboration with our partner organisation Camden & Islington Young People's Service, to deliver 1:1 emotional and practical support, assist in our drop-in service, and facilitate workshops for all young people experiencing homelessness.
You will specialise in helping young people improve their self-confidence while improving their understanding of difficult emotions such as anger. Additionally, you will focus on developing their thinking and practical skills, as well as coping and de-escalation strategies. Your work will aim to improve relationships among young people within the day centre, and continue to promote trauma informed working practices across New Horizon, so that all of our services are designed to address the psychological and emotional needs of young people who are unsafe or facing homelessness.
You will have the unique opportunity to contribute to the development of an important and innovative new role. You will be provided with your own theraputic support delivered by a highly experienced clinical psychologist and regular individual and group clinical supervision. You will also be given opportunities for further professional development through training and consultation through New Horizon and our Camden & Islington's Young People Service.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will ideally have experience of leadership of a small to medium size human rights or similar charity, preferably with some international operations. This is an interim, 12-month contract with the possibility of extension. This role is based in Reprieve’s London office. Reprieve operates a hybrid working model and we require staff to work 2 days per week from the London office and the rest of the week from home.

Home-Start is committed to promoting the welfare of families with young children to enable them to have the best start in life. We are recruiting a Family Support Coordinator to help us provide targeted, specialised support to families in Barnet, who could be struggling with any of a range of issues. This includes those with children under the age of 5, expecting parents who may be experiencing poor mental health or families with complex circumstances with children up to the age of 19.
Our Coordinators are integral members of the Home-Start team, as well as wider teams of professionals from universal and specialist services to provide a coordinated response to families’ needs. They assess need and carefully match volunteers with families. This may include instigating Early Help assessments and attending case planning meetings.
Coordinators work with their own volunteer team, ensuring they are supported and fully trained to achieve the best outcomes for families and, in particular, the children. Coordinators work with families in their own home. They are skilled in recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns, be apt in completing strengths-based assessments and conversations. They also have a deep understanding of the issues families can face and the link with childhood development and difficulties they may experience later in life.
The post holder will build on our existing work and our relationships in Barnet, to deliver a volunteer-led home-visiting service and related activities to local families. This will require a good working knowledge of the borough, community partners and agencies. You will ideally be co-located in one of the community centres or community venues but will be required to travel around the borough regularly. Coordinators will allso participate in weekly family groups in each borough, based in the children's centres and family hubs.
We are recruiting a Coordinator for Barnet to cover a period of secondment until 31st March 2025. However, there may be an opportunity for this to be extended further subject to funding. The work is largely field-based, but will require regular days in the office which is in Finchley, Barnet.

The job
We’re looking for someone to wear two hats.
The first hat you’ll wear is that of a client lead. You’ll have full responsibility for the clients and projects that you and your team are working on. One day you might be working on ocean policy campaigns, helping technical clients adapt their language to make it engaging and influential, and in doing so helping to push the ocean agenda forward. The next you could be working with a not-for-profit, leading the creation of their brand identity, marketing strategy and overseeing the launch of their new website.
We’re on the hunt for a seasoned communications strategist and a creative campaigner. You’ll be someone who feels at home bringing your knowledge and experience to any communications challenge: from campaign strategy to brand strategy, from policy communications to digital marketing.
You should be a creative thinker, a problem solver, and someone who knows how to run projects profitably – and grow client relationships at the same time. You’ll be able to build relationships quickly, with clients and colleagues. You’ll spot mistakes, tactfully ask difficult questions, and tell us and our clients how to improve things.
The second hat you’ll wear is that of a new business lead. You’ll work with the CEO, Head of Strategy and other colleagues to identify, respond to, and win new business opportunities. We’re looking for someone who has directly relevant experience here – so you’ll have had experience in new business for an agency or consultancy, or have supported that function.
You’ll have experience responding to RFPs (and hopefully winning them – definitely tell us if you have a good hit rate), you’ll be excited by the idea of travelling abroad to give presentations to prospects and convert them to clients, and you’ll have ideas about how we can improve our marketing to generate more inbound leads. Where some see new business efforts as taxing and draining, you’ll be energised by it, and see new business as a game that is fun to play, and win.
Key skills and experience
The core things we are looking for are:
- Minimum 6 years experience, with at least three years in an equivalent agency setting
- Have communications expertise in creating stories, shaping narratives and social/policy campaigns and/or public affairs

British Society for Rheumatology (BSR) is a membership organisation that brings together expertise from across the rheumatology profession, harnessing a wide variety of experience and skills to ensure we’re supporting our members to the very best of our combined ability. Our mission is to support members to deliver the best care at all stages of the rheumatology care pathway, focusing on communication, transparency and collaboration.
Rheumatology Advances in Practice (RAP) is a fully Open Access journal that publishes quantitative and qualitative research on all areas of rheumatology and musculoskeletal practice. The Editor-in-Chief plays a key role in providing leadership, vision and strategy.
Job Purpose
The Editor-in-Chief will be appointed by BSR and the term of appointment will be for a five-year period. The Editor-in-Chief plays a key role in providing leadership, vision and strategy of the journal.
The Editor-in-Chief for Rheumatology Advances in Practice (RAP) will work with BSR to develop and produce a high-quality journal as well as establish its strategic direction. They will be involved in keeping the BSR Board of Trustees and RAP Editorial Board as well as leading the social media presence of the journal.
The Editor-in-Chief will have a general responsibility to the broader rheumatology, paediatric, primary care and allied health community in communicating clinical and scientific advances and standards, to promote their needs and aspirations by commissioning content and planning Special Issues that will enhance the field of research, care and support for these communities.
The Editor-in-Chief will work with the Society and Publisher to ensure that it continues to meet its objectives and set strategic goals for the journal.
The general strategic aims and objectives of the journal are:
- Ensure robust ethical standards and high-quality peer review
- Grow quality and number of submissions and publications yearly
- Ensure international recognition and reach of this journal by publishing high quality scientific and clinical research from across the world, and maintaining an engaged international Editorial Board
The journal is an open access, go to resource for the rheumatology community, with a scope that encompasses the wide range of disciplines involved in the field. We recently received an impressive first impact factor of 3.1 and we are excited to continue to grow the presence of the journal internationally. As the journal is fully online and open access, we have exciting opportunities to provide a multitude of publishing services for our authors, in line with the industry standards and experimenting with new ways of publishing. We listen to the voice of the authors, readers, reviewers and board members to understand their publishing needs and are excited to trial new projects. For example, we recently launched a new article type called an ‘Atlas Review’ with a unique offer of unlimited figures, allowing authors to illustrate their important discussions and not limiting the capabilities via text exclusively.
Quality and ethical standards
The Editor-in-Chief will ensure an appropriate balance of good quality articles, so the journal addresses the needs of the multidisciplinary rheumatology community. The Editor-in-Chief will see that the journal maintains the highest ethical and moral standards. The journal must be seen to be fair and unbiased towards individuals and provides a comprehensive and balanced view of the specialty. The journal is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and committed to the highest ethical standards in journal publishing.
Conference attendance
The BSR, EULAR and ACR conferences provide an excellent opportunity to network with current and prospective authors, reviewers and Editorial Board members, as well as to commission new content for the journal and to provide social media updates. Conferences can also be used to arrange podcast and video interviews with authors, Board Members and colleagues. Delegate tickets to EULAR, the BSR Annual Conference and ACR will be covered by the British Society for Rheumatology and travel and hotel expenses will be covered as outlined in the budget.
Editorial support to the Editor-in-Chief
The Editor-in-Chief will receive day-to-day support for processing papers and managing peer review from the BSR in-house Editorial Office team, as well as support from contacts at Oxford University Press. Co-Editors, Associate Editors and wider Editorial Board also provide support and guidance to the Editor-in-Chief.
The relationship with the British Society for Rheumatology
The day-to-day contact with the BSR will be through the Editorial Office; however, the Editor-in-Chief will have several relationships as follows:
- BSR Journal Committee
The BSR Journal Committee will review and supply any feedback about overall advice given by the Editorial Board on the content, quality, standards, promotion, and performance of the journal to the Editor-in-Chief. The Journal committee is responsible for overseeing and approving the finances, scope and policies of Rheumatology Advances in Practice. The committee ensure actions decided upon further the work of the Journal and its development within the Journal’s aims and scope.
- BSR Board of Trustees, CEO and Senior Management Team
Advised by the BSR Senior Management Team, the BSR Board of Trustees approve the finances and strategy of the journal. Members of the BSR Senior Management Team attend the Journal Committee meetings. The Editor-in-Chief is asked to attend the BSR Board of Trustees on an ad hoc basis to provide an update on strategy and delivery.
- Rheumatology Editor-in-Chief
There is a transfer of papers model in place, so the Editor-in-Chief will have opportunity to collaborate with the Editor-in-Chief of Rheumatology to ensure the right papers are directed to the right journals by understanding the scope nd criteria of each journal. The journals share a X and instagram pages and marketing and promotional campaigns can be co-ordinated.
- Oxford University Press
OUP publish the journal on behalf of the BSR. OUP provides a full publishing experience with expert teams who advise and support on matters related to production, marketing and law, publishing ethics and strategy. The publisher, BSR and the EiC work closely to ensure the journal strategy is bespoke in order for Rheumatology Advances in Practice to maintain the current community, build the readership and authorship, and align with the visions and values of BSR. The Editor-in-Chief will meet OUP contacts at the Journal Committee Meeting and strategy planning meetings, as the publisher highly values the knowledge and experience of the Editor-in-Chief. Day to day communication will be via the Editorial Office to ensure smooth running of journal procedures.

We work in partnership with Age UK Buckinghamshire to deliver the Hospital Discharge Support Service. The service covers the county of Buckinghamshire and aims to improve the experience of people leaving hospital, at what can be a very difficult time for them. Our teams work with patients to make this experience more manageable and to minimise the risk of readmission. This service supports people aged 18 who are leaving hospital after a stay. Older people are highly represented in this client group.
We are looking to recruit an experienced person-centred leader who is passionate about delivering services that make a difference to people’s lives. You will have responsibility of maintaining a high level of service delivery with impressive outcomes. You will lead a team of staff with oversight of each service area, will be highly organised, able to make decisions and use your initiative. The role will also involve monitoring service processes, systems, and workforce capacity to enable us to identify areas for change and improvement.
The purpose of the role is to manage and deliver the day-to-day operation of the service. Operating across Buckinghamshire, our discharge staff are based at both Stoke Mandeville and Wexham Park hospitals. Our community team are based in the Age UK Buckinghamshire offices in Aylesbury but reach out to serve residents across the county. Additionally, a team of volunteers provide additional capacity and reach. The post holder will be based at the office in Aylesbury but will be expected to travel across the two hospital sites when required,
The hospital teams operate 7 days a week supporting patients on discharge. Over a year more than a thousand patients will be taken home by our teams and helped to settle in safely. The community team will support residents post discharge, liaising with any other services, offering practical support to settle in at home such as shopping, light housework or picking up prescriptions and offering a regular call to ensure all is well.

Project summary - Species Recovery for Chalk Steams – Wilder Communities
Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust has secured a grant from the Species Survival Fund, a partnership between Defra and the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
The Species Survival Fund is enabling the Trust to deliver an ambitious restoration programme for our chalk river and wetland habitats across 11.15km of the River Lea Catchment in Hertfordshire. As part of the project, with additional funding, the Trust will be working in local communities to highlight the importance of our chalk streams and wetland habitats and enabling groups and individuals to take their own local action for wildlife.
This community organising work will initially focus on communities in and around Welwyn Garden City and Hertford.
