Joining as Head of Digital you will lead Freedom from Torture's digital engagement programme to drive growth in income, activism and awareness, as well as an organisational wide digital transformation programme where you will support an integrated approach across communications, fundraising and influencing.
A pivotal role within the organisation you will work closely with colleagues across Fundraising and Communications, Survivor Leadership & Influencing and Clinical Services as well as with the SMT and will drive innovation to ensure digital activity is optimised to support an ambitious organisational strategy.
Key responsibilities within the role include:
* Implementation of Freedom from Torture's digital engagement strategy, using insight and analysis to set and measure appropriate KPIs to monitor success of strategy and drive testing and innovation
* Overall responsibility for the organisation's social media strategy; working closely with the Digital Engagement and Campaigns Manager you will provide support and guidance to ensure that campaigns are effective and impactful
* Work closely will colleagues across the Fundraising and Communications team and the Advocacy and Campaigns team to deliver an engaging package of social media activities that reflect the breadth of the organisation's work
* Have overall responsibility for an annual digital income of circa £500k including oversight of developing and implementing digital fundraising plans (organic and paid) across all digital channels, working closely with the Digital Fundraising Manager
* Responsible for ensuring that the organisation's website and wider digital products support the delivery of organisational strategy including driving fundraising growth, movement building and survivor empowerment
* Lead on the organisation's journey towards digital maturity including working with colleagues within ICT, Finance, SMT and stakeholders from across the charity to ensure that digital solutions are embedded across all elements of strategic delivery
* Provide leadership to a high performing team of digital experts - you will lead a team of five in total including three direct reports
* Annual budget development and development and delivery of operational plans across all digital activities
We would love to hear from you if you have the following skills and experience:
* Extensive knowledge of digital marketing, mobilisation, social media and website development
* Proven experience in delivering growth in digital income and audiences, ideally in a fundraising environment
* Substantial experience of successfully leading and managing staff, including managers, with expertise in overseeing others' development around digital mobilisation and engagement, and proven ability to coach people to success
* Strong track record of leading and managing integrated multi-channel strategies (email, social, PPC, offline) to mobilise the public, win campaigns, grow income, and engage broad audiences
* Extensive experience of website management, UX, digital analytics and digital content development
* Experience of budget management and financial planning

The organisation's policy is that all appointments will be at the start of the salary range but successful candidates will have the opportunity to move up the scale over time. The Head of Fundraising will be responsible for executing Pro Bono Economics’ (PBE) fundraising strategy under the Director of Development’s guidance. - Manage team members and contractors to ensure the development and delivery of these strategies including the organisation’s membership services, codes of conduct, professional standards and package of member benefits
- Work with your team and trustees in shaping our membership offer which supports our members as they progress through their studies and careers. This includes the development and delivery of new membership categories including the PSA Fellowship
- Work with your team members to continuously improve the PSA’s member communications and content ensuring that all web and other digital and printed content and data is timely and good quality. You will ensure an ongoing programme of content and calls for action including promotion of Political Insight magazine and journals, the PSA Blog, e-newsletters, and social media as well as the efficient and effective deployment of the CRM so we can give our members, donors and stakeholders the best experience possible

Deliver the PSA’s Schools programme:
- Support PSA trustees in creating a programme in line with the PSA’s strategy

- Promote the teaching and study of Politics particularly post-16 and at undergraduate level
- Develop and deliver an offering for teachers and students (particularly post-16 resources and events) involving input from academics in line with PSA Strategy
- Support the PSA’s trustees on engagement and advocacy concerning post-16 curriculum and assessment.
Supporting Students, early career academics and those focussed on higher education teaching and learning:
- Support your team members in managing member networks including the PSA’s Teaching and Learning Network (TLN) and Early Career Network (ECN), its volunteer convenors (committee members) and programme of communications, resources and events and imbed these as a clear part of our membership offering
- Support your team members in undertaking the election and training of incoming committee members and ensure the development of appropriate procedures and annual actions plans so that they adhere to the byelaws of the association and agreed budgets
- Support the PSA’s trustees with engagement and advocacy concerning Higher Education teaching and learning and the content of Politics courses
- Work with team members to organise and develop the annual PSA undergraduate Conference, and develop a wider programme of work with opportunities to undergraduate students to engage with the PSA
- With support from the team, ensure the effective operation of the PSA’s family of specialist groups in particular the management and growth of their own membership and communications as well as supporting their events and, in liaison with the Finance Manager, their own income and expenditure
- Work with team members, trustees and association members on the provision of developmental activities including mentoring and training programmes.
Delivering the PSA’s Annual Conference, annual lecture, and other events:
- Devise in consultation with colleagues and trustees, a conference and events strategy for the organisation aimed to bring our community together, further our strategy and maximise revenues. This should include events supporting all membership types, specialist groups and our networks.
- Manage the team responsible for delivery and ensure productive relationships between staff and suppliers as well as academic and commercial partners
- Develop and manage project budgets including the Annual Conference from inception to completion in consultation with team members and the Operations and Finance Team, reporting to the Chief Executive and Trustees.
- Oversee existing systems to monitor progress and expenditure through the regular scrutiny and review of budgets and project plans, from proposal though implementation and delivery

About the Role
Over the past 7 years, UnLtd have developed and built an investment offer for social purpose organisations. This has included the development and full deployment of two investment funds - UnLtd Impact Fund, and the Thrive Fund. We launched our third investment fund in partnership with Big Issue Invest in December 2022. Better Cotton is seeking a dynamic data analytics professional to join its Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) team. Successful candidates will be skilled at analysing data on agricultural practices, field results and programmes, as well as adept at transforming analyses into clear visualisations with concise explanations. The MEL Data Insights and Visualization Manager will assist in compiling data from different sources and different teams, transforming, cleaning, validating, analysing data and promoting its insights though dynamic dashboards using Power BI and creating reports to disseminate learnings to our stakeholders (which range from farmers, programme partners close to the field to textile brands). The MEL Data Insights and Visualization Manager will report to Head of MEL inside the Standards and Assurance Team. There is not team reporting into this role at the moment, but we anticipate building up a team over time. You will play a key role in creating data feedback loops that will contribute to continuous improvement and influence programmatic change at the field-level and at the organization. We are a large sustainability standard in the middle of big transformations (moving from a voluntary standard to a certification scheme, new legislations to adapt, increased consumer demands). Data plays a key role in informing our progress towards our targets.
As the MEL Data Insights and Visualisation Manager, you will be responsible for turning data into insights and providing Better Cotton staff and stakeholders with dynamic visualisation tools and reports. Data analysis requires a lot of context and for that understanding of sustainability standards, impact measurements and agriculture would be needed.
Areas that play to your strengths
We are seeking a motivated MEL Data Insights and Visualisation Manager to join our MEL Team. In this role, you will work both independently and with team members in the MEL secretariat and local country-team offices. Your responsibilities are to:
- Oversee, support and perform effective and accurate analysis of farm-level results data, reach data, practice adoption, programme activities… among other datasets.
- Create tools for analysis and reporting with Power BI and other tools adapted to range of stakeholders with different goals and backgrounds
- Ensure regularly scheduled reporting is completed accurately and to schedule, creating content and coordinating with other teams
- Actively promote existing data insights providing the needed context, tools and improvement possibilities inside the organisation that could support learning and accountability
- Coach and support Better Cotton’s country staff and partners on using interactive results dashboards.

- Ensure visibility of activities, ideas and potential of MEL into the organisation.
- Manage some steps on data collection digitalisation process
- Collaborate for assessing farm results data quality, identify problematic areas, and contribute to data quality improvement plans
- Ensure cross-functional coordination around data analysis and data collection
- Support data digitalisation pilots and roll out by testing apps and ensuring the consistency for analysis, creating related dashboards, evaluating its alignment with MEL needs and suggesting improvements

- Consolidate all the learnings from evaluations, proposals and yearly reports from our Growth and Innovation Fund (GIF) into analysis tools and reports in coordination with GIF team.
