You will support the promotion of sustainable shopping and the shop’s social media to increase audience reach, attract customers, donors and volunteer supporters to deliver the Retail Strategy.
Income generation
- To support the Shop Manager to manage the Retail budget to achieve agreed targets:
- Help maximise shop sales by achieving agreed targets both through donated stock and bought in/new goods. This involves proactive stock generation, optimum pricing, processing stock to agreed amounts and stock planning.
- Achieve Gift Aid sales conversion target through maximising new donor sign up and encouraging repeat donations.
- Achieve the shops additional fundraising activities i.e., Christmas appeal sales targets through involving the shops team.
- Maintain high levels of shop presentation by merchandising and housekeeping to agreed standards as set out in the Shops Operations manual.
- Managing the stock levels of bought in/new goods, to include ordering of more stock as and when necessary.

Administration and compliance
- To ensure adherence to The Children’s Trust policies and procedures, in particular ensuring full compliance of the shops in line with all Health & Safety legislation, Trading Standards, Risk Assessments, Gift Aid, Lottery and all other legal or statutory requirements:
- Assist in controlling shop expenditure through effective cost control of weekly expenses.
- Ensure minimum losses of both stock and cash by following bank and till procedures and safeguarding the property of The Children’s Trust at all times.
- Adhere to all Policies and Procedures including those relating to the compliance with Health and Safety responsibilities, Gift Aid and Lottery.
- Complete all administration to meet the requirements, standard and deadlines for whom this work is produced.

Personnel and Training

- Deputise and be accountable for all Shop Manager duties as and when necessary, in their absence due to sickness, holiday or recruitment.

Role Requirements

Ensuring requirements of Children, young people, parents, staff and visitors are met at all times the role will be responsible for carrying out planned maintenance tasks in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule and also for installation, investigation, diagnosis and fault finding on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment, including, but not limited to heating and hot water systems, hot and cold-water services, air conditioning, air handling and ventilation equipment, drainage and rainwater system and control systems. To add variety to your day, you'll also be assigned other duties through the help desk. These tasks will diversify your workload and ensure your role remains dynamic and engaging.
Provide and receive routine and complex information to inform colleagues and other personnel. Be knowledgeable and conversant with technical issues and communicate and explain those to colleagues.
The role holder will assist in the supervision and monitoring of maintenance work carried out by contracts ensuring at all times their own work and that is contractors is within the statutory guidelines the role will ensure a quality customer service and delivery of outcomes within expected SLAs.

Operational Leadership and Governance

- Accountable for regular financial updates to Trustees including the Finance Investment Committee (FIC) and Board meetings along with the preparation of the financial aspects of the annual report and accounts
- Oversee the management and development of VAT reporting for FNF and trading subsidiary

Systems and controls

About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive and managing a small team of Finance and HR personnel, the Head of Finance & Resources position is broad in scope. The post holder will be responsible for the development and implementation of RHSU strategy relating to finance, people and culture, governance and digital infrastructure. The post holder will ensure the delivery and resourcing of operating plans, policy and operating procedures to ensure that the Union delivers its strategic objectives across its support services. The position sits on the Senior Leadership team and will be expected to play a key role in the delivery of our 3 new strategic enabling themes: People & Culture, Well Governed & Sustainable and Physical & Digital Infrastructure.

Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for an experienced finance professional who is ideally at least part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA. An excellent understanding of charity finance, regulation and governance is required, along with experience of senior level management and leadership in a similar sized organisation.
Skills and experience with developing strategic plans, project/change management and leading on digital infrastructure projects would also be very useful experience to succeed in the role. Strong commercial acumen would be beneficial too -against a backdrop of constantly changing commercial considerations and wider Higher Education sector pressures.
Whilst core finance skills are essential, both at a strategic and operational level – experience in a broader resources role covering HR, IT, governance or compliance would suit this post well. A demonstrable interest and commitment to a values-driven and student-led organisation is also required.

Role Requirements
The role holder will assist in maintaining high standards of professional competence and integrity in the finance team and play a pivotal role in supporting the Head of Finance in running the overall finance department.
Oversight of the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger
Responsibility for internal controls; prompt reconciliations of control accounts, separation of duties, and compliance with proscribed systems of authorisation
Assist in the preparation of annual accounts, in compliance with the SORP and relevant GAAP. Liaison with external and internal auditors
Lead in preparation of the annual cash flow forecast, and preparation of monthly reconciliations between forecast and actual
Bank reconciliations and posting of transactions
Month end processes and journals
Manage the purchase ledger function, ensuring the ledger is kept clean and at an acceptable level. Ensure the Purchase Ledger Manager is maintaining the sub ledgers within purchase ledger
Assist with the credit control function, in liaison with relevant service leads. This will be supported by KPIs
Oversee the Fundraising Accountant role, ensuring accuracy of reconciliations between Fundraising and Finance

About the role
We are excited to be advertising this newly created role as part of WGN’s growth. This role will be the lead on the finance function. Reporting into the Director of Finance and Resources, the role works closely with stakeholders across the organisation including executive leadership, with a specific focus on working closely with the Director and external auditors. The role will have two direct reports – Finance Business Partner and Finance Officer. This is a hands-on role and will have full responsibility for the finance function on a day to day and medium-term basis. Online Searches

Elrha is a global organisation dedicated to finding innovative solutions to complex humanitarian challenges through cutting-edge research and innovation. We are seeking a passionate and skilled Management Accountant to join our dynamic Grant Operations and Finance (GOF) team.
About the Role:
You’ll play a key role in supporting our work by ensuring smooth, high quality financial management and reporting. Working closely with the Head of GOF, you'll contribute to the success of our programmes by overseeing financial activities, audits and the improvement of financial processes.
This is a role where you can make a meaningful impact, not only within our organisation but on the global humanitarian landscape. You'll have the chance to work on important projects that directly support our humanitarian aims while developing your skills in a supportive and collaborative environment.
What you’ll do:
- Lead on key financial activities, including management accounting, financial reporting, and grant audits.
- Support the operational aspects of grant management by ensuring effective financial planning and monitoring.
- Improve and streamline financial processes for greater efficiency.
- Manage complex funding arrangements, including grants from institutional donors, and ensure compliance with financial and donor requirements.
- Collaborate with teams across the organisation, using your financial insights to support decision-making.
What we're looking for:
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experiences, especially those with a genuine passion for humanitarian work. We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Are a qualified (or part-qualified) Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, CIPFA or equivalent) with proven management accounting experience, ideally within the charity or not-for-profit sector.
- Have experience managing budgets and financial information, especially in environments with complex funding.
- Are familiar with the financial management of grants from institutional donors, ideally within international aid or humanitarian settings.
- Understand risk management and audit processes.
- Communicate clearly and effectively, both with financial and non-financial colleagues.
- Are skilled in Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
- Have a personal or professional interest in humanitarian or development sectors, demonstrated through academic studies, volunteering, or work experience.
Additional knowledge in grantee financial management, IATI standards, and accounting principles for charities would be a bonus, but not essential.
