About the Role
Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. MAP is the leading UK charity delivering health and medical care to those worst affected by conflict, occupation and displacement, in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) and Lebanon.
The Deputy Director of Philanthropy will play a pivotal role in advancing MAP's mission by leading and expanding our fundraising efforts across trusts and foundations, major donors and corporate partnerships in the UK and internationally. This senior leadership position requires a dynamic, strategic, and highly motivated individual with a proven track record in high-value fundraising and relationship management.
About You

Duties and key responsibilities
Leadership, Strategy and Planning
•Build and inspire a high-performing, results-oriented team focused on delivering fundraising targets through tailored partnership plans
•Lead the development of the Philanthropy and Partnerships strategy, setting ambitious targets in line with the fundraising strategy and goals in the UK and globally.
•Collaborate with the Director and Heads of teams to develop team plans aligned with the Fundraising and Marketing strategy.

Relationship Development and Management
•Cultivate and manage strong relationships with corporates, major donors, trust and foundation representatives to secure grants with a focus on multi-year partnerships.
•Develop and manage the portfolio of major donor prospects, creating tailored engagement plans to maximize their philanthropic potential.
•Lead stewardships events to bring the work to life and to connect supporters with MAP programme colleagues and medical volunteers.
•Collaborate with programmes and communications teams to ensure the team creates persuasive proposals, impactful reports, and engaging donor communications.
•Lead and be responsible for the due diligence procedure for new partners, as well as periodically ensuring that current partners still meet MAP’s guidelines.
Budgets, reporting and compliance
•Lead, create and manage annual and three-year rolling budgets working with programmes, communications and finance.
•Working with the Head of Fundraising Operations, provide reporting for the SMT and Board on a quarterly basis, and at a team level on a monthly basis, highlighting risks and opportunities and making necessary adjustments to ensure continued success.
•Ensure all grant applications and reports are submitted punctually and meet funders' requirements.

The Role
To deliver on our new strategy and exciting capital and activity Masterplan, Wonderseekers is growing its Fundraising Team. The Head of Major Gifts is a pivotal new role within this team: working closely with the Director of Fundraising and managing a small team of experienced Trusts & Foundations (T&F) fundraisers, to achieve an initial target of circa £3.5 million within the next two years.
Accomplished at assimilating and interpreting complex information to craft compelling, high-level funding proposals, the post holder will lead and coordinate project fundraising campaigns to achieve the individual project targets, ensuring the highest quality of funding approach and donor stewardship across the Major Gifts Team.
In addition to managing and supporting the in-house T&F Managers and freelance T&F fundraisers to secure five and six figure grants, the post holder will develop and manage their own portfolio of major T&Fs and high net worth individual (HNWI) donors contributing circa £1 million towards the overall initial target. Working with the Director of Fundraising, they will play a lead role in establishing a strong and loyal major donor base of organisations and HNWI for the Charity in anticipation of future funding needs.
The post holder will have impeccable interpersonal and presentation skills and be comfortable representing the Charity and engaging with senior internal and external stakeholders at the highest level.
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior fundraiser to become an influential member of the Charity’s Leadership Team. The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity exists to support the incredible work of The Royal Marsden Hospital in providing world-leading cancer treatment and care. With one in two of us expected to develop some form of cancer, it is essential that they go even further in their fundraising efforts to support the essential work of The Royal Marsden. Therefore, they have recently launched their most ambitious strategy yet, that will see them raising at least £215m over the 5-year period.
With a current annual income of £2.5 million from Individual Giving, the goal is to significantly increase this over the next five years, targeting £4 million. The Role
As the Head of Individual Giving, you will lead a team of 7 (with headcount currently split between acquisition and retention) in delivering innovative strategies to accelerate income growth. The team are passionate, keen and committed - your ability to coach, mentor, and inspire will be key to helping them thrive and improve processes.
You will need to be a direct marketing specialist with a proven track record in driving acquisition strategies, working at pace, and adapting to change accordingly. Acquisition will be a significant focus over the coming years, with investment to support this. The charity has exciting plans to grow and diversify the supporter base, as well as developing audience first supporter journeys, providing donors with the best possible experience.
You’ll work closely with senior leaders and peers across the charity, ensuring open collaboration and alignment across teams, while helping drive a creative, data-led approach that puts supporters at the heart of all direct marketing activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a high performing team, developing and implementing acquisition and retention strategies that drive significant growth in income.
- Lead, coach, and inspire the team, providing the structure and support they need to succeed.
- Drive operational excellence, ensuring processes are followed and continuously improved to maximise the potential of the Individual Giving programme and optimise the lifetime value of supporters.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to align efforts, utilise data and insight and capitalise on opportunities for fundraising.
- Manage and optimise budgets for Individual Giving campaigns, ensuring a strong return on investment.
- Build a positive internal reputation for the Individual Giving team, influencing effectively to support the success of Individual Giving.
