The post holder will ensure that our £2 million annual research spend funds the best work.  They will lead funding, governance, public and patient involvement and work closely with the Director for Research, Programmes and Impact to support strategic delivery.

The Head of Research will understand the research landscape and the processes required for research funding and governance.  They must also understand the role that the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) has in supporting this.  The post holder will be a strong communicator who can build relationships at all levels, both internally and externally, and work effectively to deadlines and under pressure.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Head of Policy to help us achieve real impact by leading policy design, implementation and influence across the organisation to ensure an impactful, inclusive and evidence-led approach to social change. The postholder will be responsible for leading on two or more of our Design for Life interventions, which sit within our Prosperous Places portfolio. This is a great opportunity for someone who is motivated by ambitious targets, taking a test and learn approach to achieving impact, and driving system-level change.

This role is based from RSA House in London for at least three days per week, with hybrid flexibility for the remaining days.

About You

What we look for in a successful Head of Policy candidate:

• Excitement and interest in designing, implementing and refining.
• Deep knowledge of research and practice-led policy design and development including diverse approaches to shaping and shifting policy at local and national scale
• Experience in a policy focused role, working within local or national government to create, change and deliver new policies to deliver better economic, social and environmental outcomes
• Commitment to impactful external partnerships and profile.

The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity exists to support the pioneering work of The Royal Marsden, a world-leading and internationally renowned cancer centre. Our support enables the hospital to change the lives of cancer patients, and their families. around the world.
We raise funds to support life-saving cancer research, the construction of new world-class facilities, personalised treatment and care and investment in state-of-the-art equipment.
We are a very ambitious organisation which has gone through transformational growth over the past five years and exceeded our fundraising targets. However, with one in two of us expected to develop some form of cancer, it is essential that we go even further in our fundraising efforts to support the essential work of The Royal Marsden. Therefore, we have recently launched our most ambitious strategy yet, that will see us raising at least £215m over the next 5 years.

To support us on our growth journey we now have an exciting opportunity to join us as our permanent Head of HR. Reporting into the Associate Director of Corporate Services and Grants, you will be the HR professional lead for the organisation.

Key deliverables:

• Act as a strategic business partner and trusted advisor to senior leaders, developing excellent working relationships with the Senior Leadership Team, providing sound senior level HR advice, using data and insights to inform decision-making and drive performance.
• Effective delivery of day-to-day HR management and oversight, including HR Policies, performance management, staff surveys, pay and benefits and employee engagement, whist inspiring any direct reports and external consultants to deliver exceptional performance.
• The continuous development and management of a Learning and Development programme which delivers on the needs of a high performing fundraising organisation.
• Embedding EDI into all aspects of the management and development of people, to ensure we are able to attract, engage and retain a diverse and inclusive workforce which reflects the diversity of the cancer community we support.

We’re delighted to be working with an ambitious international development charity who are searching for a Head of Fundraising. The charity supports individuals with mobility challenges to live a full life. The Head of Fundraising will focus on developing and expanding their portfolio of individual donors, trusts and foundations and corporate partners. This is also a great role for someone looking to step up into a Head of role for the first time.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for leading the strategy, a small team and the stewardship and re-engagement of the charity’s current portfolio of high-value individual donors, trusts and corporate partners. You’ll also work directly with Programme Managers to create compelling new funding proposals to pitch to new partners.

To be successful in the Head of Fundraising role, you’ll need:

• Experience managing a relationships with high-networth-individuals, corporates and trusts and foundations, taking a relationship-led approach.
• Experience of researching new prospective donors and writing and pitching of funding proposals.
• Ability to work proactively and independently to drive growth in an organisation
• An eagerness to develop your management experience

Salary: £46,000 - £54,000
