We are looking for a person with strong communication skills and experience of providing safeguarding support and advice as part of a multi-disciplinary or faith-based context to join our established team for maternity cover. 

With a demonstrated commitment to the safeguarding and wellbeing of children and adults, you will need a good working knowledge of safeguarding policy, practice and legislation across diverse contexts (including the UK four nations), as well as a solid understanding of implementing safeguarding at a grass-roots level with faith organisations. Main Responsibilities:

The AFRUCA Child Protection Family Support Service sits within AFRUCA as one of our most impactful programmes targeting families from a range of ethnic backgrounds across England and Wales. The service works closely with local authorities children’s services in cases involving families on child protection plans or in court proceedings. We provide direct one to one training and support for parents to aid their ability to provide appropriate parenting and ensure a safer, happier home environment for their children.

The AFRUCA Child Protection Service currently has a team of five qualified social workers and supports over 50 families each year. We also provide a therapeutic service where children are being reunified with their parents. We are establishing a child protection legal drop in service for families in contact with children’s services and an advocacy service for parents in the child protection system.

Most of our families are referred by local authorities children’s services as a result of cultural and religious practices which are deemed harmful to children’s well-being. We offer qualified social workers who do not wish to work in the statutory sector with an alternative approach to practising social work where empathy, kindness and support is key to our work with families. Our ultimate aim is a reduction of children in Black and Ethnic communities going into or remaining in foster care. The Development Manager (Individual Giving) will focus on increasing donations from individual supporters. Working closely with the Head of Development and CEO, you'll be responsible for growing donation schemes for individual supporters, stewarding major donors, delivering public fundraising appeals and promoting opportunities for supporters to make gifts in wills.

New Horizon Youth Centre has been commissioned by the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) as part of an Alliance with Safer London, St Giles Trust and the Anna Freud Centre to deliver on their Children and Young People’s Violence and Exploitation and Reduction support service. The commission will run from June 2024 for three years. As part of this, an additional service will be set up within the NHYC Youth Justice team specifically to deliver on the Alliance contract. This will include a team of Housing Caseworkers who will carry out assessments and advocacy work with young people under 25 who are fleeing violence and exploitation, in order to move them on successfully into both emergency and long-term housing options. As a Data Selections Officer, you will work closely with various teams across the organisation, gathering data requirements and ensuring that selections align with campaign goals. You will manage the scheduling and delivery of complex targeted data segmentations and selections for campaign activities across direct mail, telephone, email, SMS, and social media channels.  Additionally, you'll be responsible for building and managing complex data segmentations, making sure all outputs comply with data protection regulations and internal policies.

You'll also manage and maintain automated supporter journeys using our campaign management tools. This involves streamlining processes and ensuring efficiency in how data is selected and utilised.

A key part of your role will be providing ad-hoc reports to support various business needs, including campaign planning and funding applications. Your input will help to ensure that all data-driven activities meet our strategic goals and reflect our core values.

What are we looking for?

You will need to be detail-orientated with advanced experience in working with relational databases and large datasets, ideally using systems like Dynamics 365 or Raiser's Edge. You should have a strong background in delivering complex data selections using campaign management tools such as FastStats, PeopleStage, or Dynamics 365 Customer Insights.

Proficiency in Excel, including advanced formulas and data manipulation, is essential, as is a solid understanding of data protection regulations and fundraising compliance.

You'll need excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders. Attention to detail and data integrity is crucial, along with strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Problem-solving should come naturally to you, enabling you to deliver effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Salary:  £24,500 - £26,000 per annum

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

Creating, developing and evaluating hyh’s online and social media presence to engage supporters, stakeholders and the wider public and to maximise digital fundraising opportunities. The role also supports the development of digital content to support service delivery at the charity leading on public and internal comms.  

The Digital Communications Assistant will:

Contribute to hyh’s overall Fundraising & Communications strategy as a member of the Fundraising & Communications Team

Improve supporter acquisition and retention through digital channels, building engagement and loyalty.

Source, generate, edit, schedule and post written, visual, audio and video content that drives brand awareness, is shareable and encourages actions to generate income.

With guidance, deliver outstanding and innovative communications for different audiences and across multiple channels which align with hyh’s Comms plan.

Inspire, inform and motivate supporters to give to hyh as well as demonstrating the impact of their donations on beneficiaries. 

Learn to manage a calendar programme of social media and website activity.

After training, act as the first point of contact for social media and our website, responding appropriately and championing and signposting people to the work of hyh

Create and update content for hyh’s website

Develop and grow TikTok content which is engaging and educational, becoming hyh’s expert on this channel

Create digital materials to support the Fundraising team across all income generation streams with their activities and campaigns throughout the year.

Over time, act as a brand champion within hyh, promoting the use of social media and encouraging greater understanding of the website and social media channels

Keep abreast of new developments, trends and technologies, identifying and proposing new digital opportunities for hyh.

Understand, evaluate and circulate social media and website analytics.

The Youth Leadership Programme Manager will work on a nationally funded project developed in collaboration with local young people, NHS North East London, and the University of Hertfordshire. They will play a key role in supporting young people who live in the area, and the adults who work with them, to learn and work together to explore how participation can improve the health and wellbeing of local young people.

The role will manage our Young Advisors Team, supporting them to develop the skills, confidence and agency to play an active and equitable role within the project.  The project will be guided by the values of co-production (being human, inclusive, transparent, and challenging) to ensure that all forms of experience are valued equally, and power imbalances addressed openly. 

The post requires a high degree of flexibility around working days and hours as well as the ability to travel within North East London to support the meaningful involvement of young people in the project.

This can mean at times we have to work harder to secure their trust and build relationships with them. The experiences these young people have had in their lives means they can feel frustrated, angry, and upset. We need someone committed to showing care, respect, patience and understanding, someone who understands that challenging behaviour can be a demonstration of the impact of multiple traumas. This is a fixed-term role for 12 months
