About the role
One of the core areas of CAST’s work is building the capacity of the social sector to respond to the rapid scale advances in AI. The evidence from the Charity Digital Skills Report; Joseph Rowntree's Grassroots and Nonprofits research and our own AI survey shows that charities are unlikely to benefit from - or respond to the challenges of - AI without intentional support and capacity building. To support charities’ (critical) adoption of AI we need to invest in supporting sector-experiments that create demonstrable impact (acting as showcases), working alongside the peer groups, charities and working groups to help move conversations into practical action.
To achieve that, we are looking to recruit a Head of Design for AI to focus on driving forward this work in a number of different ways:
- Blending expertise in AI technologies with human-centered design principles to foster innovation and inclusivity across the social sector;
- Providing direct support to organisations and specific product design advice;
- Designing a range of experiments and tools alongside the sector and CAST team;
- Supporting the design and development of specific programmes, training and interventions that will help shift the sector on AI
Whilst there is a lot of work underway and in the pipeline on AI this role will be expected to shape this work based on their deep experience and knowledge of AI and product design, and support the wider team at CAST to upskill in this area.

What you'll achieve
- Develop and execute a vision for the integration of AI into CAST’s design methodologies, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s mission and values.
- Alongside the Head of Technical AI Experiments, lead the design, development, and deployment of AI experiments, tools and resources tailored to the needs of the social sector;
- Working with the wider CAST team, contribute to the ongoing development of ethical design principles in AI applications, ensuring transparency, accessibility, and fairness in all outputs;
- Work closely with charities, community groups, funders, and tech partners to co-design AI solutions that address real-world challenges and drive meaningful outcomes;
- Support social sector organisations to develop the skills and resources needed to design and implement AI systems effectively, fostering confidence and innovation through both direct coaching and via networks;

We're looking for someone with a passion for and knowledge about migrants’ rights. You will be joining our small and friendly public legal education team to lead our work empowering migrant communities with the knowledge and skills that they need to secure access to justice.
You will be working with a team of information experts, educators and volunteer lawyers.
Role: Head of Migrants Rights Programme
Reports to: Head of Education and Training
Salary: £23,499 pa for 21 hours per week (FTE £39,165, inclusive of London Allowance)
- Pay increases are agreed annually in line with NJC negotiations and usually take effect from 1 September each year
Hours: 21 hours per week
Location: Remote.
- In-person staff meetings occur every quarter and regular in-person events are to be attended as required. Locations vary, prior notice is always provided and travel will be reimbursed
Contract: Two-year fixed-term contract with potential extension

I am delighted to be working with a health-based charity in a vital role within the governance team. I am currently recruiting for a Head of Risk and Assurance on a 6-month temp contract, paying circa £600-£650/day. This role is largely remote, with occasional travel requirements. The overall purpose of the role is to ensure that the charity and its workforce comply with necessary regulations and manage all aspects of risk to the organisation, its employees, clients, reputation, assets, and interests of stakeholders. Specific risk areas include corporate governance, information security, regulatory compliance, insurance, and operational risk.
Your new role
The successful candidate will be:
- Leading People and Teams: Managing a team of 5, providing mentorship and support to ensure high performance and adherence to compliance standards.
- Risk Management: Designing policies and compliance plans, guiding and educating the management and workforce on compliance matters, and updating knowledge on regulatory changes.
- Business Continuity: Developing and overseeing control systems to deal with or prevent violations of legal guidelines, regulators, and internal policies. Evaluating the efficiency of controls and continuously improving them.
- CoSec Administration: Supporting the director in ensuring Directors are listed on Companies House and the Charity Commission.
- Risk Registers: Monitoring and managing risk registers, including operational risk registers and appetite.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Working with different levels of stakeholders, influencing and negotiating thoughtfully to drive results prioritised by the CEO.
- Supporting Risk Aware Culture: Promoting a risk-aware culture within the organisation, ensuring compliance with internal standards and business goals.
What you'll need to succeed
This position is suitable for someone who:
- Has a Risk Management and Internal Audit Certification.
- Proven experience of line managing a small team.
- Has worked in the charity sector and/or public sector.
- Proven experience in Risk Management, Assurance and Compliance
- Is experienced of working with the most senior officials in a large organisation.
- Can build trust and credibility with senior stakeholders and manage relationships (and build influence) with a range of junior and senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Has proven ability in long-term planning, aligned to strategic goals, delivering key outcomes and results.
- Is experienced in governance, governance legislation, and governance best practices (desirable).

Key duties for this role include:

We’re looking for the following skills & experience for this role:
- Experience of managing a multifaceted, £1M+ Individual Giving programme across acquisition and retention, across a variety of offline and digital channels and products.
- Demonstrable evidence of success in increasing Individual Giving income in line with agreed fundraising targets.
- Experience of developing Individual Giving programmes from test and learn cycles, including product and campaign development.
- A confident and empathetic people leader with experience of leading and inspiring teams.

This role mobilises and orchestrates ClientEarth’s programme experts to deliver activities and impact through engagement with partners based in West and Central Africa.
ClientEarth’s FOLU Africa programme works to build, implement and enforce effective laws, as a vital part of building governance systems that better and more equitably manage forests and other ecosystems. The programme is founded on long-term partnerships with lawyers and civil society organisations based in West and Central Africa.
The Head of FOLU – African Partnerships operates under the global mandate of the Chief Programmes and Impact Officer. As such, the post-holder leads initiatives that are primarily focused on our work in Africa, while continuing to collaborate globally and embody the principles of “One ClientEarth”, driving global level systemic change.
Main Duties
- Regional Programme Strategy -Lead strategy development and implementation with respect to Food, Oceans and Land Use (FOLU) in Africa; Is accountable for the delivery of ClientEarth’s programmatic initiatives in Africa through close collaboration with partners and employing the range of ClientEarth’s tools, including litigation, capacity sharing, legal advocacy and influencing.
- External Leadership & Partnerships - Lead ClientEarth’s relationships with partners in Africa, ensuring best practice in partner engagement.
- Staff Management - Define, in collaboration with line-managed staff members, individual work priorities and well-tailored and achievable work programmes, delegating tasks and responsibilities accordingly;
Role requirements
- Fluent (CEFR level C2) in English
- Proficiency in French
- Law degree or other legal qualification
- Experience of working in the not-for-profit sector in Africa, including working on programmatic strategy and impact measurement
- Experience in large grant budget management and donor reporting, preferably institutional funds from a multilateral/bilateral donor
- Strong commitment and understanding of human rights issues, especially as they relate to the rights of Indigenous Peoples and local communities and Gender Equality and Social Inclusion considerations
