Job Purpose

This is a hands-on role, the purpose of which is to work with the staff to ensure that the Volunteer Action (VA) services are fully operational and delivering customer service excellence.

To co-ordinate and develop the volunteering programme to meet the demands of the services provided by VA to meet the Charity’s aims.

To support the development and management of all external communications, marketing and fundraising activities.

To work closely with the CE and deputise as and when required.

 

Key Responsibilities

Operations

a) Day to day supervision of office volunteers, including rota production

b) Ensure the databases are used accurately, kept up to date and maintained within GDPR guidelines

c) Ensure that day to day activities are executed professionally and economically

d) Ensure all administrative functions are completed effectively and in a timely fashion

e) Ensure all mandatory documentation is completed and accurate records are maintained

f) Identify and introduce continuous improvements to working procedures

g) Identify, develop and deliver training for staff and office volunteers as required

h) Ensure the office is manned optimally to meet the changing demands of the service including providing cover for holidays etc as required

i) Work with the team to ensure a co-ordinated message and optimise growth of all the Charity’s services, stepping in to assist where necessary

Volunteers

a) Actively source new volunteers, ensuring volunteering opportunities are available in line with VA’s aims and objectives

b) Ensure all information and application packs are up to date and accessible

c) Support the recruitment and training of all volunteers, actively maintain good relationships, monitor performance, obtain feedback and ensure appropriate recognition

d) Ensure compliance with Disclosure and Barring Service regulations, GDPR, Equality and Diversity policies

 

Information, Communication and Marketing

a) Support the production of content and assist in the distribution of the monthly communication to volunteers and the annual VA Newsletter arranging mail-outs to clients as required

b) Encourage use of our other services when communicating with members

c) Provide presentations as required to other organisations about volunteering programme

d) Attend or arrange events to promote the volunteering programme in the local communities (These meetings may be out of office hours)

e) Manage external communications, including website and social media

Deputising for the Chief Executive and Charity Manager

a) Work with, and send information to, other organisations who work with our client group on an ongoing planned basis, ensuring that the referral pathways are open and accessible

b) Represent VA at relevant meetings, including developing partnership working with organisations that have a common purpose or work with the client group

c) Support the CE in the preparation of evaluation documents and impact reports

d) Monitor and identify gaps in service and seek ways to bridge the gaps

e) Understand the funding mechanisms and support the CE in bids and fundraising events

f) Undertake any other tasks and duties that may reasonably be required in relation to the service

Main Responsibilities:

• Proactively contact schools to offer online meetings and support in the ongoing delivery of their breakfast provision. Offering advice and guidance to increase the number of children having breakfast each day
• Respond to school queries via a support desk either by phone or email in a timely manner. Escalating to colleagues within the service as appropriate.
• Share knowledge, ideas, feedback and evidence of good practice with schools to inspire and encourage improved delivery of the breakfast provision.
• Work closely with colleagues and partners supplying the service delivery, ensuring any issues relating to Food orders, deliveries or provision help are reported and action is taken immediately.

• The successful candidate will preferably be educated to degree level or relevant professional qualification to level 3. Have experience of working in customer service environments or experience of being first point of contact and providing high quality support.

About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Fundraising Manager, the Major Donor Manager sits within the Communications, Engagement and Fundraising team. 

The role involves developing plans that feed into the USPG fundraising strategy to increase engagement from high net worth individuals and cultivating new high value donors. Amplifying the voice of the Cannington Shaw Heritage Skills Academy

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team at Groundwork as Digital Media Officer at Cannington Shaw Heritage Skills Academy, where you'll be at the heart of our mission to preserve and promote heritage skills. We are seeking someone with creativity and passion who will help us reach new audiences and inspire the next generation.

At it’s height, Cannington Shaw was the largest glass bottle maker in the world. All that now remains is the # 7 Bottle Shop – a fine example of what was once one of the first regenerative tank furnaces in the world. Derelict since closure of the works in the 1980s, it is now badly overgrown, with considerable structural deterioration. The site is a Scheduled Ancient Monument, Grade II Listed, and on the Heritage at Risk Register since 2002.

In the ownership of the Cannington Shaw Preservation Trust, the site is about to undergo a transformation as the first phase in restoring the building begins thanks to a £1.3m grant from the St Helens Town Deal.

A partner in the process, Groundwork Cheshire Lancs & Merseyside are leading on a project to develop and deliver a Heritage Skills Academy that aims to link the opportunities presented by the conservation and restoration of the building with local people wishing to develop their skills – with a particular focus on heritage construction skills.

This role is designed to provide practical hands on experience of working on a live heritage project, allowing the successful applicant to develop their experience of partnership working, – as well as a wide range of heritage skills, crafts and techniques.

Harris Hill is working with an international environmental charity, who are looking to cover an interim Communications Officer role for 3dpw, on a remote basis. This covers permanent recruitment.

The role itself will run until Christmas and possibly the new year. We are looking for an immediate start.

The post of the Communications Officer reports directly to the CEO, but works with internal fundraising, programme and marketing teams to promote the work of the charity, report on fundraising and manage communications to various stakeholders and supporters.

This role follows a period of outsourcing their work to an agency, so this brings this work back in house, with a handover happening before they total removal in December, but also covering the permanent recruitment period. 

The purpose of the Communications Officer is to raise the profile of the charity, to highlight the work they do, reach current supporters and allow to increase our supporter base.  The role will deepen engagement and ensure that the brand identity, messaging and tone of voice build a coherent, compelling and distinctive brand.

In a typical day, you could be writing a press release announcing new funding partnerships, speaking to the programmes team to develop impact stories that showcase their work transforms lives, you could be designing an impact report for one of their programmes, supporting ongoing fundraising campaigns through social media communications or developing a monthly newsletter to supporters.

Experience:

A strong track record of delivering engaging social media content across different channels and audiences to support organisational priorities.

Excellent writing skills, able to adapt for different channels and audiences. Compelling and grammatically correct.

Experience of using creative software such as Illustrator, Premiere, Canva and Photoshop

Basic video editing skills.

SME mentality; comfortable with a broad role in a small organisation and happy to flex from the strategic to tactical, taking a ‘hands-on’ approach.

My client, a well-established health charity, is seeking an Interim Finance Director for approximately six months.

You will be responsible for ensuring the strategic and operational financial management of the organisation runs smoothly. You will also lead and support a dynamic finance team, ensuring it operates efficiently and effectively.

• Complete Return to Work interviews for Support Workers

• Take a lead role in Quality Assurance audits and other management reporting duties where required.
• Contribute to the writing on care plans, including assessment and risk management plans.
• Support On Call once a month by being available to cover last minute Support Worker absence for which you will be paid £150 retainer plus your hourly rate for any support delivered. (On call start at 5pm on a Fri to 9am the following Mon)
• Support roster writing and making amendments to roster where required.
• Work 70% of your time providing direct support with 30% being management duties.

Essential requirements include:
