We are seeking an experienced Development and Income Generation Manager. This crucial role is to develop and sustain programs supporting East and Southeast Asian women in the UK.
 

About Us

We are a new and inclusive organisation empowering East and Southeast Asian women and their families. ESEA women share a common culture and experience similar issues, eg. immigration, racism, trafficking, and other forms of gender-based violence and exploitation in the UK. We campaign to completely eradicate financial hardship and end violence among women and our dependents within the ESEA UK community. We provide a safe space, advocacy, health, housing, education, co-learning and other holistic support and services.

We are a non-hierarchical organisation with our trustees as key facilitators, working with our staff and volunteers to implement and deliver our projects. We are seeking exemption under the provision of the Equalities Act 2010 Schedule 9 Part 1 under the occupational requirements as this post requires the postholder to be female or identifying herself as female.

Main responsibilities:

• Create a successful income generation strategy across different sources including corporate, grant makers, trust and foundation, social media fundraisers, legacy and new streams of funding.

• Write and submit successful and compelling grant / funding proposals, ensuring alignment with funder requirements and organisational goals

• Build solid relationships with corporate sponsors, funders and grant makers to enable us to identify the best income generation streams  for our organisational requirements

• Engagement in the ESEA community with an in depth understanding of nuanced community issues that will ensure robust applications

• Research and identify additional potential funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and partnerships from agencies, foundations, and corporations.

• Work closely with our team to gather data and information to support applications

• Maintain and track an organised record of funding opportunities, application deadlines, and submitted proposals. Provide timely updates to the team

• Help report to funders on the benefits of their funded projects.

• Employ and train staff/ volunteers with funding applications and other aspects of funding, eg social media requests

• Share management and supervision work of staff for the different projects in the organisation.

• Participate in the organisation wide collective and collaborative approach to move the direction of the charity forward across different work of the organisation. 

Knowledge and Experience:

• Excellent grant writing and communication skills

• Proven track record of at least 5 years in successful funding applications

• Successful track record in fundraising from corporate sectors

• Good understanding and experience of rights based campaigning on migrants and human rights issues through a woman’s lens

• Good knowledge of women’s issues including violence and oppression.

• Good knowledge of how migrant community groups organise and work together

• Experience in building networks and alliances and in collaborative work

• Flexible and proactive, can work independently

• Commit to SEEAWA’s values in promoting and protecting the rights of migrant workers, women who were trafficked and experienced gender violence

• Have one year experience managing staff and volunteers

• From or experience in Southeast and East Asian cultures

Job Purpose

As our Finance Manager, reporting to the Director of Finance and working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and colleagues across the organisation, you will be a key person ensuring that our financial data is complete and accurate, overseeing reporting to our programme funders and our international network, and ensuring best practice in all aspects of financial management. Key responsibilities

Ensure the integrity of financial data and controls, including budgeting, forecasting, Treasury and cash flow management

· Prepare data ready for monthly accounts, reports, and financial statements. This will include the normal monthly journals, reconciliations, and checks

· Liaise as necessary with colleagues in Habitat for Humanity’s international network for reporting and efficient transmission of funds to overseas affiliates

· Manage payroll, tax returns, and financial reporting for funders

About the role

As our Temporary Finance Manager, you will be managing a finance assistant and will be part of our organisation’s Senior Leadership Team, helping to collaboratively shape and steer the charity as we work towards our 2022 - 2027 strategy. The Finance Manager is at the heart of Woman’s Trust; you will play an essential role and have oversight of not just the finance team – you will have direct exposure to CEO/Board Members and decision-making for the future of the organisation.

We are looking for a highly motived Temporary Finance Manager with demonstrable experience working in a similar senior level role. You’ll be a fully or part qualified accountant e.g. CIMA/ACA/ACCA/Cipfa, with a thorough understanding of charity accounting.

Our client is committed to transforming lives of children and young people by creating opportunities to learn, grow, and develop through Education. The organisation is an independent funder and our income is generated from our endowment which consists of both significant property holdings and financial investments, therefore we do not fund raise, the organisation has distributed over £298 million in grants to a range of organisations that seek to promote the life chances of children and young people through Education, with around £15 million in grants distributed each year. The charity gives grants to benefit children and young up to the age of 25 (or up to 30 for younger people with special educational needs and/or disabilities) who live within nine Boroughs in West, Central and North London.

We are delighted to be working with the charity to recruit a permanent Financial Controller to join its established team based in conveniently located offices in Central London. 

The role:

Reporting directly to the COO, the Financial Controller will ensure the provision of consistent, robust financial advice to the charity as a whole.  This person will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of finance and financial operations, ensuring these are compliant with statutory requirements and appropriate and effective financial controls are in place. They will also maintain a financial planning framework that will facilitate the delivery of the charity's financial strategy. This will involve managing one direct report, overseeing all financial reporting and tax compliance, preparing the charity’s management accounts and the end of year accounts for approval and sign off by the Trustees. In addition, the role will be responsible for managing an annual financial audit process preparing the annual budgets in advance for SLT sign off and providing sound financial advice across all of these areas.

This person will also manage all external relationships with banks, financial institutions, property Investors and auditors wherever Finance is the main issue being dealt with. This person will also oversee all Grants related financial transactions in close collaboration with the Grants department.

The person:

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant and will be able to provide excellent financial management and reporting for the Charity. They will be confident working with different internal stakeholders and external professional advisors and will be capable of considering their different requirements and priorities in a knowledgeable way. This person will have excellent attention to detail and will be highly organised and a strong communicator across a wide range of audiences. Educated to Degree level or the equivalent (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or CIPFA), this person will have excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal communication and will be up to date on all MS Office packages and financial software including SAGE being essential.

Candidates with prior experience of working with endowed Trusts, Foundations or Charities or who have worked in Charities that have income derived from a permanent endowment (either partially or totally), will be of particular interest, so please draw attention to this when applying.

This person will have demonstrated substantial financial management experience at a senior level in the Charity or Not-for-Profit sectors, with extensive knowledge of UK Charity Accounting Standards (SORP, Charity Commission compliance and VAT). Also experienced in strategic financial planning, preparing complex financial statements, budgeting and cashflow forecasting, and have good knowledge of financial planning in a Funder or Grant-Maker setting. As our income is generated from our endowment which consists of both significant property holdings and financial investments a substantial experience of managing income and cashflow from property and investments is essential.

The Foundation Manager will report directly to the COO and act as the general manager of the charity, serving as the central pivot, which all operations revolve around. African Adventures Foundation is a registered charity set up in 2013 to provide support to 29 schools in developing areas of Ghana, Kenya and Zanzibar.

These schools provide education, health and food security, and social support to young people whose access to these basic services would otherwise be very limited. African Adventures Foundation helps by funding food security programmes, the construction of important school facilities, and hygiene projects that will benefit children’s health and education. With your help, we can continue to provide security and opportunities for more children in Africa.

It's an extremely exciting time to join our team as we continue to expand our company. Due to our current growth and expected growth over the coming years, we are in the process of relocating from Eastleigh to new office premises in Whiteley, which are better able to accommodate our expanding team. This role may also require travel outside the UK to visit our Programmes as needed by the business.

The role is centred around three core elements: charity management, programme delivery, and fundraising.

Responsibilities

1. Charity management (with support from the COO & Trustees)

• Line management of the Programme Officer in all respects including recruitment, conduct, capability, welfare, personal development.
• Indirect (matrix) management of the in-country Foundation Coordinators.
• Key member of the broader UK Management team.
• Support the COO and Chair of Trustees with the overall Governance framework of the charity including standards, processes and reporting.
• Primary point of contact for the board of Trustees day-to-day, supporting the Chair of the Trustees in the coordination and administration of Board activity.
• Lead on development, oversight and operation of charity standards, processes and systems.
• Work alongside the charities dedicated Finance Officer in ensuring good financial management of income and expenditure through planning, approvals, and processes.
• Attend a variety of external charitable, donor, and operational events or locations as required from time to time.
• Work closely with supporting departments like Finance, Marketing, and Travel Operations on all charity related matters.
• Handle day-to-day enquiries, questions, and issues related to the Foundation.

2. Programme Delivery (delivered by the Programme Officer)

• Ensure that a clear, documented process is in place for receiving, triaging, and managing requests related to volunteer projects and charity support.
• Lead the prioritisation process for articulated charitable requests, ensuring appropriate approvals are obtained and properly documented.
• Support strong project management throughout the planning and delivery of approved charitable projects.
• Ensure a robust MEAL [Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning] process is in place for measuring and reporting on the impact of the charity’s work with its beneficiaries, donors, and trustees.

3. Fundraising (with support from the COO & Trustees)

• Responsible for the developing and managing the Fundraising Opportunities Portfolio ensuring all stakeholders have clear visibility of funding gaps and opportunities for current and prospective donors.
• Responsible for leading on developing fundraising activities as informed by the Fundraising Strategy to drive income and cover operational expenditure.
• Maintain strong Donor relationships and develop grant applications adding to support a healthy funding pipeline to ensure we meet the charities fundraising targets.
• Work with the Marketing Manager to ensure effective marketing and social media strategies in are in place and to maximise the opportunities they provide.

What We’re Looking For:

Due to the breadth of this role, we would only expect an incumbent to have relevant experience in 2 of the 3 core elements of the role as a minimum, but with a strong desire to develop and learn in the 3rd with dedicated support.

Essential:

• Excellent Written & Communication skillset. A true collaborator.
• Experience in the Charity sector in a Management/Leadership capacity.
• Experience in Project Management and/or Delivery.
• A passion for driving improvement and change, to the betterment of children in Africa.

Ideally two of the following:

Our Funding Management team are looking for someone who loves excel and has excellent attention to detail. (We have 2 x roles - a 12 month and a 6 month fixed-term contract)

This role is responsible for ensuring we maximise our restricted funds income in compliance with our funders requirements by allocating funding to grants, compiling and submitting claims and reports to Funders in a timely manner. Working effectively across the King's Trusts Delivery, Finance and Fundraising teams in a proactive manner.

The role is perfect for you if you have strong administration, reporting and time management skills along with experience of using CRM databases and excel.

Major Donor Fundraising Manager

These are ambitious times for the Charity after recently launching a new strategy that sees growing impact across the world exponentially. 

We have now have an exciting opportunity for a proactive and professional individual with outstanding relationship building and influencing skills to join the dedicated Fundraising Department. 

Position: 1934 Major Gifts Manager 

Location: This role is nominally based at our site based in Sidmouth, Devon – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – and we offer hybrid working. We are keen to make the role work for you, and will consider fully remote/home working and flexible working patterns, where required.

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week, 08.30-16.30, Monday-Friday

Salary: £40,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent

About the Role

As Major Gifts Manager, you will provide expertise in Major Gifts, successfully developing the programme in line with agreed annual targets and our Fundraising Strategy. You will work closely with the Head of Major Gifts to evolve and continuously improve the major gift activity, bringing an integrated approach across the charity to deliver the most donor-centric activity, whilst continuously evaluating performance.

Your principal duties and responsibilities will include:

• Inputting into and delivering the Major Gifts Strategy and improving the Major Gift portfolio and performance.

• Delivering and reporting on agreed projects, fundraising targets and KPIs.

• Proactively identifying and delivering new fundraising donors and income growth opportunities within Major Gifts.

• Leading on selected donor cultivation and stewardship projects to support sustainable income growth in Major Gifts, including events and other opportunities;

• Personally securing, managing and stewarding a portfolio of active Mid-Value, Major Donors and Charitable Trusts, forging and maintaining strong and enduring relationships.

• Supporting and growing the Major Gifts cultivation programme and pipeline to grow funders’ understanding of the diversity of the charity’s work.

• Being agile to changing market conditions and trends and working with the Head of Major Gifts to relay this into cultivation and stewardship.

About You

With experience of managing, cultivating, and delivering major gifts, and of planning future major gifts pipeline, you will have a proven track record of meeting and exceeding personal fundraising targets.

You will also have:

• A demonstrable record of building excellent stewardship and successful relationships with supporters at all levels including high net worth supporters, charitable trusts and other major donors.

• Well-developed knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, and interpretation of programme performance.

• Demonstrable experience of project budget management/reporting.

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

• The ability to multi-task and work with several conflicting demands and timescales.

Our Adventure Playground Manager plays an integral role within our Children, Young People and Families team, supporting our Head of Service to create inspiring, high quality and child focused youth and play services. The work of the Children, Young People and Families team is diverse, and service includes after-school and weekend adventure play, school play sessions, mentoring, holiday activities and youth leadership programmes.

Tulse Hill Adventure Playground is at the centre of our Children, Young People and Families service, and you will have solid experience working in an Adventure Playground, or similar outdoor setting, as you will hold managerial responsibility of the site and resources ensuring that the environment meets the needs of all the children who use it and to enable children to obtain the full benefit of the playground and its facilities.

As a strong and inspiring manager you will lead a team of play practitioners to deliver a range of dynamic, exciting, and meaningful services, ensuring the children who need them most are supported to play, develop, and thrive. You will take both an ambitious, organised, yet hands on approach to your management of the service - we are a small but dynamic team and truly believe services are best when all are involved, from management to practitioners. You will bring enthusiasm and passion to ensure an exceptional service for the children and young people we work with.

You will champion the role that adventure play services play in supporting children and young people to thrive and be an advocate for partnership working, building relationships with parents, schools and other local organisations, to maximise use of the Adventure Playground and the range of services we provide. A strong understanding of how the service sits within the wider work of the organisation and building strong relationships internally and externally is essential to the role.

You will be joining the organisation at a very exciting time as we are just about to undertake a large scale rebuild of the outdoor adventure play structures which will be completed this summer - creating a new and exciting environment for children and young people to play. This will include a range of challenging play structures, a wildlife garden, growing area and outdoor kitchen, along with a small animal enclosure.
