You will join our friendly team and work alongside our Funding team in Wales and across the UK. Depending on your location and preference, you can work from home or a combination of home working and office working in our Newtown or Cardiff offices. 

As a funding officer serving our North region, (Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, Flintshire, Denbighshire Wrexham and North Powys) you will assess requests for funding and manage grants using local knowledge, best practice, thematic expertise, and the experience of customers and stakeholders to improve our grant making and inform our decision making. By working closely with people and communities, you will understand what matters to them and where our funding can make the biggest difference. 

You will be responsible for supporting local people and communities in Anglesey, and have a strong understanding of our vision, being able to adapt your approach to the wishes of the people you are working with. You’ll also need to support our stakeholders, helping them to make connections that will help them achieve their goals. 

You will be responsible for the pipeline of projects in Anglesey, understanding and responding to the different needs of our customers by providing advice and considered feedback, and be willing to have challenging but constructive conversations. Funding Officers will ensure our grant management and assessment play an effective part in contributing to the Fund’s knowledge and learning as a grant maker. You will manage your own caseload, liaise with grant recipients, undertake project visits, identify and manage risk, supporting organisations to deliver their projects and measure their impact. 

The ability to communicate in Welsh fluently and confidently is essential for this role.

St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity exists so that everyone has a safe place to call home, providing emergency financial help that can transform a person’s circumstances within days. The Charity also funds a range of projects across the UK, providing innovative services within healthcare, legal advice and mental health support to facilitate a long-term transition out of homelessness.  The Charity is at a pivotal stage in their development, building on the hugely successful BBC Radio 4 Appeal that will enter its 100th Anniversary in 2026, diversifying income streams to create year-round opportunities to donate and support their diverse programmes. 
 
The Trust & Foundations Development Manager will play a key role in enabling the optimisation of the Charity’s net income from UK and global Trusts, Foundations and Lottery funding sources. This will enable the funding of the Charity’s key projects and programmes in the lead up to and beyond the 100th anniversary of the BBC Radio 4 Appeal in 2026, directly impacting the lives of those at risk of and experiencing homelessness. 
The post holder will also ensure the highest quality of stewardship and donor care are maintained to drive committed partnerships. Key duties include: 

• Work with the Head of Leadership Giving to further develop the Charity’s Trust and Foundations fundraising strategy, maximising sustainable net income from both general and restricted Trust and Foundation funding sources, and capitalising on opportunities afforded by the 100th anniversary of the BBC Radio 4 Christmas Appeal in 2026. 

• Acquire an excellent knowledge and understanding of the Charity’s values and programmes, working collaboratively across the Charity to create bespoke donor materials and cases for support that interest, engage and motivate to give. 

• Develop a pipeline of new funding opportunities from both UK and global Trusts and Foundations, whilst developing relationships with existing funders. 

• Take a lead role in the management of successful grant applications to ensure that reports to funders are delivered in a timely and effective manner, reviewing narrative and financial reports to ensure donor requirements have been met, and consulting with and ensuring input from relevant technical and financial staff. 

• Collaborating with the Head of Leadership Giving to ensure that resources and budgets are managed effectively. 

 
We’re looking for the following skills and experience for this role: 
  

• Substantial experience of identifying, negotiating and securing significant new partnerships from large scale Trusts and Foundations based in the UK and globally. 

• Excellent track record of developing existing Trust and Foundation partnerships through excellent account management techniques. 

• Experience of developing compelling audience focused cases for support to drive engagement and long-term value from Trusts & Foundations, Lottery and where appropriate, Institutional funding sources. 

• Proven experience working with senior volunteers, influencers or advisers to achieve Trust and Foundation fundraising success either in peer-led fundraising (such as development boards) or peer-peer fundraising (such as giving networks) or by working in partnership with senior stakeholders on individual approaches. 

• Experience of deploying prospect research to support the development of relationships with target trust and foundation funding sources. 

• Interest and/or understanding of the issue of UK homelessness and the grant funding landscape in relation to those organisations and NGOs seeking to impact upon it.

We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Major Donor Manager to join our team. You will hold responsibility for creating a major donor portfolio for TLC, securing support from High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) and Philanthropists.

This is TLC’s first Major Donor role. Over the past few years our organisation’s size and reach has grown considerably. Core Responsibilities 

Financial Management:

· Day to day management of the organisation’s financial and administrational activities, ensuring that appropriate systems are in place to receive and make payments, and to monitor financial performance of both the charity and the trading subsidiary

· Invoicing and, where required, debt management processes

· Regular reconciliation of bank and other relevant accounts

· Design and implementation of appropriate financial procedures, ensuring they are followed at all times

· Preparation of monthly payroll data and submission to external provider

· Managing all relevant tax aspects for the charity, ensuring that tax is appropriately calculated, collected, reported and paid

· Ensuring appropriate policies are in place, and updating these as required

· Carrying out other financial management activities to meet the evolving needs of the organisation

Financial Monitoring:

· Monitoring and managing cash-flow

· Monitoring financial performance of individual divisions

Financial Reporting and Budgeting:

· Preparation of monthly management accounts for both the charity and trading subsidiary and other financial analysis required by the CEO or Board of Trustees

· Preparing and supporting the independent verification/audit of annual accounts and any other financial reporting required to meet our obligations to the Charity Commission & Companies House

· Preparation and agreement of the annual budget and any required re-forecasts throughout the financial year

Procurement:

· Procurement and management of services and consumables required to support the organisation

Grant Administration:

· Overseeing the administration of grants and contracts, including ensuring eligibility of participants, submitting claims and other data required by funders, invoicing and budget monitoring, ensuring that all deadlines are met

· Supporting fundraising efforts, including preparing budgets for proposals

· Supporting the CEO to develop financial strategies for the organisation

General Administration / Other:

· Monitoring developments in financial regulations affecting the Garden, and ensuring processes / procedures are updated as required

THE ROLE

As our first Fundraising Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to shape our fundraising strategy, with a particular emphasis on creativity and innovation. You’ll help us nurture our current donors and find creative ways to generate income from diverse revenue streams, so we can can continue to innovate as we develop our vital support to young people and grow our impact.

• Develop and regularly refresh our fundraising strategy and roadmap.

Wessex Rivers Trust is a growing and dynamic environmental charity dedicated to the protection and conservation of rivers and their catchments in Dorset, Wiltshire, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

About this key role

As a valued and integral part of the Fundraising and Communications team, our successful candidate will lead a small sub-team to generate at least £500,000 income each year, including the direct line management of a Senior Fundraising Officer, who you will support to line manage the Fundraising Assistant.  We will count on you to implement effective processes and procedures across the fundraising and collaborating teams, manage and refine processes for recordkeeping and devise, maintain and update our Fundraising Handbook.

Developing and designing high-quality applications, presentations, and pitches to secure five-, six- and seven figure funding opportunities from Trusts & Foundations, Community Partners and High Net Worth Individuals is a key element of this role, as is providing excellent stewardship to existing donors.

We are seeking a hands-on, seasoned, and globally-minded leader to serve as the foundation’s Director of Operations (DO) as the institution continues to evolve and develop other vehicles fit for its mission and activities.

Role

As Director of Operations, you will be a key member of the foundation’s leadership team jointly responsible for strategic planning and overall management of the institution to ensure organisational health and the fulfilment of the foundation’s mission. You will report to the Executive Director (ED).

Director of Operations Responsibilities

 — The responsibilities of the Director of Operations will include, but are not limited to:

 Finance

• Maintain best practice of internal and external controls and reporting according to accounting, audit and tax standards for international non-profits and foundations including segregation of duties, security and integrity of data and records, and approval protocols.
• Manage cashflow and liquidity requirements in coordination with the family office.
• With the ED, orchestrate an annual organisation-wide planning and budgeting process.
• Ensure effective expense control, tracking, reporting and forecasting.
• Oversee and upgrade as necessary accounting functions, policies, procedures, and systems (accounting, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, expense reporting)

 Legal and Regulatory

• Coordinate with Grants Managers, the family office, and other professionals as appropriate, in regard to compliance, disbursements, and reporting of grants according to the standards of relevant jurisdiction(s).
• Ensure that all organisational policies, procedures and practice are compliant with applicable labour, employment, tax, immigration, and business registration laws and regulations in applicable countries or jurisdictions.
• Maintain and acquire as appropriate registrations, permits, and documentation in countries as required by foundation activities and/or employee or contractor location.
• Oversee all contracts and their compliance with appropriate regulations and laws. 

People and Culture

• Ensure clarity, equity, and harmonisation of policies (HR, travel and expense), compensation and benefits for staff (employees and consultants) across geographies and tax and legal jurisdictions.
• Oversee policy and practice for personnel including recruitments, hires, orientation and on-boarding, terminations, probation, performance evaluations, human relations and conflict management.
• Foster an institutional culture of transparency, accountability, and collaboration while ensuring organisational effectiveness.

Grants Management Oversight

• With the ED and Programme team, oversee the full cycle of grant making including budgeting, projections, programmatic and compliance reviews, payments, grantee reporting and evaluation of outcomes.
• Support Grants Management System (GMS) Systems Administrators as needed, in identifying, prioritizing, and specifying new features and functionality for the GMS system.

 Information Technology

• Strategically manage information systems and IT platforms to support this almost 100% virtual, globally spread out, and highly mobile organisation.
• Ensure core systems are robust, available, and accessible to staff in all locations as appropriate.

Risk Management

• Ensure appropriate and adequate insurance policy acquisition and management needed across the institution and oversee ongoing policy management for adequacy of coverage, renewals, and financial considerations (includes liability, worker’s compensation, travel etc. across geographic areas).
• Oversee health and safety policy and procedures across staff locations and during travel.
• Coordinate business continuity policies and procedures.

Staff Management and Mentorship

• The Director of Operations currently has oversight responsibilities for the following functions:
  • Finance & Operations Manager
  • Grants Manager team
  • GMS System Administrators
  • Human Relations Manager and International Accountant
• Manage relationships with outsourced tax, payroll processing, and legal resources in various jurisdictions.
• Evaluate and evolve staffing structure and skills to support institutional needs and priorities.

Other duties from time to time, as needed.

Subject to prevailing travel regulations and where the final candidate is located, this position may require periodic international travel to the United Kingdom and/or to Hong Kong.

Qualifications

— The successful Director of Operations candidate will likely reflect much of the following profile:

 Essential

• Bachelor’s degree and preferably relevant graduate degree (MBA, MPA or equivalent) or comparable experience.
• At least 10 years senior management experience including international operations and finance responsibilities, with an international grantmaking foundation or non-profit organisation or equivalent. Previous COO, CFO, or equivalent experience desirable.
• International living and/or working experience including in the Global South; familiarity with the complexities of operating remotely and under different jurisdictions.
• Specific experience in leading through growth, infrastructure building, and/or change.
• Cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary in understanding and perspective, and proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team of diverse roles, experiences and backgrounds.
• Experience building an inclusive intercultural environment where staff of all backgrounds and abilities can thrive.
• Extensive background in international operations, finance, grants management, and IT.
• Proven skills in systems and process design and implementation.
• Self-sufficient and comfortable working remotely.
• Hands on, with ability to operate tactically as well as think strategically.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to be flexible and re-prioritize as needs arise.
• Pleasant and effective communication skills, written and oral. (English is our working language.)
• Cross-cultural understanding and perspective, aware and appreciative of differing worldviews and the ability to communicate with and learn from the wide variety of people who comprise our grantees and staff.

Desired

• Fluency in a second language with preference for dominant languages of one of our working regions (e.g., French, Portuguese, Bahasa, Thai, Lao, Burmese).
• Knowledgeable about trends in technology, hardware, and software. Interested in taking advantage of new technologies that will help foundation staff be more productive and our work more effective.
• Willingness and ability to challenge the status quo creatively and productively
• Familiarity with investment concepts and strategy
• We have a preference for someone who can be based in Hong Kong but are happy to review any exceptional candidates.

The role

This is an exciting time to be joining UK Youth. We have recently been through a strategy refresh and are now better positioned to deliver on our ambitions that all young people are equipped to thrive and empowered to contribute at every stage of their lives.

This role will lead design projects to shape UK Youth’s support to young people and professionals working with young people. This could include structured youth work programmes, grant funds, professional development programmes, and campaigns.

You will be confident in taking a human-centred-design approach to tackle some of the youth sector’s knottiest problems. You will help to improve the skills and confidence of colleagues across UK Youth to apply design methods in their own work. 

In 2024, our priority topics for youth work programmes and network development are: mental health, employability, youth social action, outdoor learning and physical literacy. 

You will work closely the research, evaluation, policy, service delivery, network development, and fundraising teams. You will meaningfully involve young people and the professionals who support them in the design process. 

You will design solutions to important problems, ensuring that they are feasible, equitable, and impactful.

The role of Dose of Nature’s Development Manager is a permanent, high-level role which will continue to evolve as the work of Dose of Nature grows over the coming years. The post involves creating and implementing a fundraising strategy, supporting the Chief Executive with financial planning, and providing clear long-term direction to income generation.

The Development Manager will work directly with the Chief Executive to devise a long-term development strategy, identify and secure funding partners, and produce relevant and compelling funding proposals. Currently the main sources of funding are from trust and foundation grants and local council health care grants. Going forward the Development Manager will grow the funding stream from trusts and foundations and look to solidify the donations from locals. As the charity develops there will also be opportunities of securing funding from the corporate sector, helping to secure Dose of Nature’s future.

The role requires a focused and detail-oriented mindset, entrepreneurial flair, business development experience, excellent written communication and interpersonal skills, good time management and the ability to juggle several complicated tasks at once. It provides a fantastic opportunity for someone with a “can-do” attitude, someone who is passionate about supporting the aims of Dose of Nature and also who wants the freedom to make this role their own.

As with any small charity we hope to find someone who is multi-faceted in terms of their fundraising skill set, and within this, without being a communications specialist, we anticipate that the Development Manager will have experience of charity communications (although this is not the main focus of the role). Ideally the Development Manager will be able to help with creating a communications strategy, support communication tools such as newsletters and social media, and identify any opportunities that may help Dose of Nature grow.

Dose of Nature has an annual turnover of approximately £400,000, of which 75% is currently raised from trust and foundation grants along with donations from individuals. The Development Manager will be responsible for maintaining this income and also securing significant new funding during 2024-25. With a good network of local support, the Development Manager will have the advantage of having a database of supporters to work with and there is the potential to create an individual appeal or giving scheme. Currently the Chief Executive makes all funding applications to trusts and foundations and these relationships will be passed on to the Development Manager who will be expected to nurture these and secure grants from new sources.
