About The Access Project
The Access Project is an education charity; we believe that every young person can make the most of education, unlocking their potential and creating a fairer society.
We support over 1,800 young people aged 14 to 18 across 40 schools. Our mission is to support students from under-resourced backgrounds to access top universities, through a unique combination of tuition and in-school mentoring. We work with them to make good applications, get the grades and transition to university.
We employ 70 people who work in locations in London, the Midlands, Yorkshire and the North West. We will turn over approximately £3.7 million in this financial year and our funding comes from a range of sources including: schools, businesses, major donors and grant-making trusts.
The programme combats educational inequality and improves social mobility by raising students’ grades and supporting them to understand the pathway to a top university. Students who receive support from our programme are almost twice as likely to attend top universities as statistically similar students, according to UCAS.

We are looking for an ambitious, experienced Head of Corporate Partnerships with a track record of winning, retaining, and developing high value partnerships.
The Access Project has established partnerships with leading companies who are committed to social mobility, equality, diversity and inclusion, and want to provide real impact for young people. We have a fantastic volunteer tutor programme at the heart of The Access Project which provides engagement opportunities for employees of corporate partners. We have identified corporate funding as one of our largest growth areas. This role will take a lead in developing and driving forward our business partnerships strategy.
The successful candidate will be passionate about levelling the playing field for disadvantaged young people in education. You will be an exceptional relationship builder and communicator, able to motivate companies to support our mission. You will be an experienced manager of people with the ability to build a supportive, creative and inspiring environment for the corporate partnerships function. You will contribute positively to the culture at The Access Project and work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to achieve our strategic goals.
What you’ll be responsible for
Leadership and management
- Working closely with the Fundraising and Communications Director to develop a corporate partnerships plan that focuses on the acquisition of corporate partnerships and excellent account management of existing partnerships, resulting in renewals and uplift in value.
- Leading, supporting and inspiring a team of two (Corporate Partnerships Manager and Fundraising Co-ordinator) to deliver the corporate partnerships strategy and individual giving strategy.
- Developing objectives and targets for the corporate partnerships team and ensuring accurate and timely reporting against these.
- Ensuring effective team use of Salesforce for relationship management, data management and providing information for financial reporting and audit purposes.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge and adherence to latest legislation, especially Fundraising legislation relating to corporate fundraising and best practice guidelines issued by the Fundraising Regulator, and GDPR.
New business development
- Periodically refreshing our corporate offer with creative ideas, proposals and content to inspire decision makers.
- Winning new business for The Access Project at the 5 and 6 figure level with support from the Director of Fundraising and Communications and the CEO/Executive team and Board.
- Managing the preparation and submission of major corporate partnership bids and coordinating internal teams to contribute effectively.
- Leading research and development to identify new fundraising opportunities.
- Ensuring high quality and inspiring communications and materials are produced in accordance with brand guidelines.
Account management and stewardship
- Delivering successful partnerships in your portfolio through excellent account management to maximise fundraising and volunteering potential and retain partners.
- Ensuring corporate partnerships are celebrated through working with Communications colleagues.
- Working collaboratively with the wider Fundraising Team, Volunteer Team, Programmes Team and other functions to deliver a fantastic partner experience and ensure an integrated and joined up approach.
Skills, knowledge and attitudes we’re looking for
- An impressive track-record in corporate fundraising. We will also consider exceptional candidates who have excelled in another field of fundraising, partnership management or sales or with a corporate background.

The Role
This dynamic 12-month fixed-term contract (FTC) involves working closely with the Partnerships Manager to provide crucial administrative and logistical support. As a Money Advice Caseworker, you will be responsible for delivering high quality support services to clients across Devon, by telephone and face-to face, to sustain tenancies and prevent eviction wherever possible, with due regard to Homemaker’s policies and procedures.
You will have experience providing money advice to individuals at risk of homelessness and contemporary knowledge of debt solutions and welfare benefits.
Important qualities include strong communication skills, the ability to work independently and empower others, and the capacity to simplify complex information for clients. While most appointments will be conducted over the phone, some clients will require in-home visits, so the job demands flexibility to travel and work from different locations, necessitating the use of a personal vehicle
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with clients
- Ensure that clients receive a prompt and professional service.
- Provide advice and assistance through a range of channels: face-to-face, by phone, or by email. Seeing clients in office and at outreach locations and visiting clients in their own homes as required.
- Receive and respond to referrals from identified agencies in accordance with prevailing guidelines/funding.
- Provide support to clients including preparing accurate financial statements, budgeting advice, progression of debt options, advising on court proceedings for debt recovery and repossessions, and income maximisation to ensure take up of benefits and options such as backdating, overpayment and sanction challenges, appeals and representation if required.
- Keep the client at the centre of every case; check the client’s understanding and communication needs, agree on an action plan with clarity on who is doing what, encourage the client to be involved with actions as appropriate, keep the client informed of progress of case, and ensure cases are concluded in a positive way.
- Communicate and negotiate on clients’ behalf with third parties as appropriate.
- Give support in the sustainment of any tenancy, as appropriate.
- Ensure clients understand the terms of any tenancy or other legal obligation entered, or about to be entered into.

ROLE OVERVIEW
With Alan and Babbette and the Indigo Trust, you will support and work with the Lead Trust Executive to manage end-to-end grant-making, research new funding streams on thematic areas of interest to the Trusts, and draft reports on wider context for new funding areas. You will develop and maintain excellent relationships with external stakeholders, deputising for the Lead executive at grantee events and network meetings, and working with grantees to support their successes and their challenges.
With the Woodward Trust, you will be responsible for end-to-end grant-making, writing narrative text on grants awarded for Trustees meetings and annual reports, sifting and preparing grant applications for shortlisting by Trustees, and carrying out thorough due diligence on all applications. You will have day-to-day responsibility for the effective grants administration, including recording information for a robust and efficient audit trail, and preparation of grant award letters.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
As someone who is passionate about social justice, you will be either an experienced Grant-maker or have experience within a professional field relevant to the focus of the trusts.
You will be equally comfortable carrying out research and building relationships with high profile individuals, as well as with grassroots groups. The role requires a breadth of analytical and administrative skills.
You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to organise your time across a range of grant making activities, navigating a diverse and varied workload, working for trustees with different priorities and focus areas.

Health and wellbeing look different for everyone. Health promotion should not alienate people by setting standards that are unattainable but should support them to look at what they can practically do to feel better right now.

Everyone’s ‘normal’ is different. Someone who is smoking crack or who is dependent on alcohol might have bodily functions that are different to what is ‘normal’ for the average person. People need to be aware of their own ‘normal’ so that they know when something is wrong.
The Health In-Reach Navigator will be working with the teams in hostels and day centres, going to the places where people live or go to access vital services like food and showers. Ideally, they will have their own first-hand experience of using or working in services supporting people around homelessness, substance misuse, mental health, poverty, asylum and immigration, or the criminal justice system.
Our services are co-produced by people with first-hand experience of the issues we are trying to address.
The Navigator should be comfortable with continuously evolving and adapting the service, tailoring it to the specific needs of the people we work with, developing sessions informed by direct feedback and direction from people living in hostels and using homelessness Day Centres.
Our Health Promotion Work
The Health Promotion Team:

Deliver group ‘in-reach’ sessions led by staff and volunteers with first-hand experience of homelessness, using health promotion resources to engage people with health issues and talk to them about options available.

Support clinical services going into hostels and day centres to deliver preventative health measures such as screening and vaccinations.

Co-produce and support the development of accessible health promotion resources about health services and health issues with people who have experienced homelessness that inform, advise, and help people manage their health.

Co-produce health and wellbeing resources for staff working within the homelessness sector, better equipping them to support the people who use their services and improve longer term health outcomes.

Contribute to producing resources for staff working in healthcare, better equipping them to understand the challenges that people experiencing homelessness might face in accessing services.
We have a range of accessible, targeted materials around vaccination, screening and other health issues that can be used by our team and supported accommodation staff to support sessions. We are planning to develop more of these, particularly looking at screening and rights to access healthcare.
By carrying out Health Promotion In-Reach in hostels and Day Centres we aim to:

Reach more people to support with 1-1 appointments through our Homeless Health Peer Advocacy (HHPA) service.
The group in-reach model enables people with similar experiences to come together and reflect on overcoming challenges. As a project based on Advocacy principals, we do not tell people what they should do; but encourage autonomy to make safe and realistic choices. We:

Meet with people to ask what their health priorities are and look at potential topics for upcoming sessions. These topics are then shared with the staff team from the hostel/day centre so they can feed in.

Draft an in-reach programme and plan dates, times, and promotion of sessions, involving staff teams at each site.

Organise and co-deliver 5-10 sessions on the priorities identified by people experiencing homelessness and the staff working with them

All sessions focus on residents’ voices being heard first, then Groundswell facilitated discussion supported and informed by Groundswell health promotion information and/or clinicians.
The Health Promotion team also work with a range of external partners around screening and preventive care.
We work with partners to arrange health events at homelessness services; promoting the sessions by talking to residents prior to teams visiting and supporting on the day to maximise uptake.
About HHPA
Our Health Promotion work sits alongside our Homeless Health Peer Advocacy (HHPA) Program. Groundswell created HHPA in Westminster in 2010, to support people experiencing homelessness to overcome multiple barriers preventing access to healthcare, initially through funding from the NHS Regional Innovation Fund. Since then, HHPA has since flourished into a multi award-winning service working across London.
Health creates a foundation to move out of homelessness. Groundswell’s person led health services enable people who are homeless to access the health care they need, so they are not disadvantaged by the health inequalities embedded in our systems. Our health work is delivered by a team where most people have their own experience of homelessness, shared experience builds up a level of trust when there can be mistrust of ‘professionals’, because of past trauma or negative experiences.
The service is delivered by volunteer Peer Advocates and staff Case Workers, who build trusting relationships with clients and support them to access, navigate and use healthcare services. They aim to increase people’s self-confidence and improve their ability to independently access the services they need, which can include everything from registering for a GP, dentistry treatment, mental health referrals, hospital appointments, and much more.
Groundswell is unique in bridging the divide between health and homelessness organisations. We work in partnership with numerous organisations across London to support the delivery of our peer advocacy service.
Health In-reach Navigator Tasks
The Health In-Reach Navigator will be a vital member of our team, working collaboratively with various partners and agencies to deliver In-Reach sessions and connect individuals experiencing homelessness with essential healthcare services. This position offers autonomy, flexibility, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to people’s lives.
Lead on planning and delivery of health promotion sessions working with key stakeholders to shape sessions:

Role Overview
We are looking for a talented fundraiser to join our small and supportive team. The Fundraising Officer (Trusts & Foundations & Events) is a new role to our charity and will play a key part in supporting our future plans.
