Here at Rainbows Children’s Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care and end-of-life support to over 750 Babies, Children, and Young People living with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, as well as approximately 3,000 people, including families, siblings, and carers, across the East Midlands. We are seeking a Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser to join our passionate and dedicated fundraising team. Your role will be pivotal in securing vital funds for the hospice by developing and maintaining meaningful, positive relationships with grant-making organisations and individual supporters. You will research and apply to appropriate trusts and foundations while leading the identification of new grant opportunities.

Hours of work: This role is 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday with the very occasional evening or weekend for Events.

Location of work: Hybrid, home-based or hospice-based (an initial hospice-based period is required for onboarding and familiarisation with the team and our mission).

About the role

Some of the key responsibilities include (but not limited to):

· Clearly communicating the charity’s funding needs to potential funders through high-quality funding applications, face-to-face meetings, and other communications.

· Building strong, long-term relationships with funders through regular updates, written feedback, and networking opportunities.

· Conducting in-depth research to identify funding needs, particularly for core income, and collaborating with Rainbows care team leaders on funding requirements.

· Producing high-quality reports for funders to demonstrate the impact of their contributions and nurture ongoing support.

Requirements

· Experience: Proven success in trusts or major gift fundraising.

· Relationship Building: Skilled in developing relationships and securing funds from trusts, foundations, or individual donors.

· Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences.

The Role
Are you passionate about communication and marketing with lots of creative ideas? We’re looking for an experienced Communications & Marketing professional to diversify and grow our UK supporter base. You will be responsible for our communications and digital marketing strategy to drive and increase supporter engagement. Working remotely, you will be an integral part of a small team in the UK, reporting to the Head of Fundraising and collaborating with colleagues in India and Ireland.

Key Responsibilities

• Proactively create captivating and impactful content to support UK fundraising and advocacy objectives to broaden HOPE UK’s online presence and brand awareness.
• To optimise and increase engagement across social media platforms by identifying relevant opportunities to engage with online influencers, patrons and ambassadors, third parties, and key UK supporters in order to raise awareness of HOPE UK’s activities and programmes in Kolkata.
• Scheduling and sharing content provided by HOPE Kolkata, HOPE UK’s Head of Fundraising, and third-party supporters, and adapting this content to create engaging posts across HOPE UK’s platforms.
• Monitoring and managing HOPE UK’s social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and setting up a new LinkedIn account).Responding and engaging with comments, as needed. The role requires flexibility to enable monitoring channels.
• Managing HOPE UK’s communications calendar and overseeing content to ensure a consistent tone and brand across all channels.

Experience and Skills

·Experience working in a Communications & Marketing role within the charity sector, preferably an international children’s charity.

·Experience of successfully increasing supporter engagement online and analysing results.

·A sound understanding of SEO, web metrics, analytics, and keyword search.

·Knowledge of various social media channels and understanding of the granularity of audiences.

·Experience of using a range of multi-media tools (e.g., Canva, InDesign) to create engaging content to support fundraising campaigns, increase brand awareness, and help drive donations. 

·Knowledge of maximising sponsored campaigns and creating targeted posts (notably, on LinkedIn).

·An aptitude to work both independently and as part of a small team who all work remotely. 

·A sound knowledge of English (written and verbal).

·Copywriting experience would be beneficial.  

·Good communication and networking skills and an ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders.

·An ability to think both creatively and strategically.

·Experience working with and managing Google Ads/GDN 

·Experience of writing and pitching press releases an advantage.

·Knowledge of updating a website (WordPress and WooCommerce).

The Head of Alumni Engagement and Development will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategy for fostering strong relationships with Ackworth School’s Old Scholar community, supporting the long-term interests of the school as we head towards our 250th anniversary in 2029. This role is responsible for fundraising, donor relations, and legacy initiatives, as well as coordinating and delivering events and communications aimed at engaging with Old Scholars and the broader Ackworth School and Quaker community. 

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, Admissions and Communications, the Head of Alumni Engagement and Development will collaborate closely with various school departments to elevate the school’s profile and optimise income generation. The focus will be on relationship management with key high-value donors and promoting a culture of philanthropy. Additionally, the role will drive support for Ackworth School capital projects and cultivate a culture of donor care that motivates current and potential supporters.

Ackworth School, a co-educational boarding and day school, was founded in 1779 by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). It maintains its ethos and traditions and is still governed by the Society. The school is academically non-selective and provides an excellent range of facilities and extra-curricular opportunities, recently achieving "Excellent" in the FCI/EQI (February 2023). The Head is a member of both HMC and the Society of Heads.

Our pupils are one of Ackworth's USP's. Visitors to the school never fail to acknowledge how amazing they are and how positive the encounter is. The successful candidate will be able to:

·Collaborate with the Director of Marketing, Admissions and Communications to create a fundraising strategy centred on capital projects and bursaries.

·Lead personal engagement fundraising, developing strategies for securing principal and major donors.

·Meet annual personal income targets, increasing both donor numbers and regular giving income.

·Monitor and report on fundraising income, events, and activities, including producing financial reports.

·Design and manage a program of events aimed at engaging Ackworth School Old Scholars and wider Ackworth School community members.

·Develop robust data sets to inform strategic goals, particularly those related to income generation and maintain detailed records of Old Scholars and donors, building comprehensive individual profiles in the contact database.

The Drive Partnership works across the domestic abuse specialist sector, public sector partners and beyond to develop sustainable, national systems in England and Wales that respond effectively to all perpetrators of domestic abuse. PERSON SPECIFICATION 

We are looking for someone with at least six years of professional experience who is: 

1. Confident in supporting bold movement building and encouraging people towards action;

1. A background and experience of working within food systems; this could be through having worked hands-on on farms, in the public sector on agriculture policy, on corporate sustainability strategies, or through a master’s degree; 

2. A background in project management, public affairs, and relationship management;

3. A background in movement building, community organising, facilitation and/or advocacy;

4. Experience in fundraising and partnership building;

5. Experience in sales, recruitment, hospitality and/or training;

6. Experience of working in and pushing for change in large organisations.

You will have a few key aspects to your work: 

1. Own and organise the Insiders group. This will include seeking new members to expand our Insider group, while retaining current members by ensuring meetings and work are relevant, interesting and beneficial for members;

2. Work with partners to turn insider insights into campaigns to influence change within the sector;

3. Help plan and deliver the UK’s first ‘Insider Summit’ where we bring together people doing insider work across a range of industries and forms;

4. Seed and support new insider groups;

5. Help develop the methodology for insider group development;

6. Build relationships with potential funders and pitch for further core or project-related funding; 

7. Project-manage external agencies that are conducting delivery work for each project, from conception through to delivery and dissemination with civil society organisations, government, media and/or investors.

For the right person, this will be an amazing experience that allows them to learn as they lead work and accelerate into a space where their knowledge and insight is directly impacting progress towards transforming the UK food system and other industries.

Job Title: Chief Finance Officer

Role Description

The Chief Finance Officer (CFO) will lead in the development and implementation of the Cathedral's financial strategy and objectives, providing expert financial guidance and support to Chapter and senior colleagues to develop strategy to deliver Chapter's vision. The postholder will ensure law and regulatory compliance and that all aspects of financial planning and management are conducted to provide accurate, relevant and timely financial information to the Cathedral, Chapter and St Edmundsbury Cathedral Trust and Enterprises Ltd.

The CFO will play a lead role in advising the Chair of Finance and Chapter. They will attend all Chapter and Finance Committee meetings.

The CFO is a member of the Cathedral's Senior Management Team and will deputise for the Chief Operating Officer (COO) on occasions.

Key Responsibilities

The CFO will support the Facilities Manager in the development of the Cathedral's Property portfolio and our Net Zero Carbon Strategy.

Strategic:

• Overall responsibility for the finance function ensuring the accurate and timely presentation of management accounts, budgets and cashflow reports and annual accounts for the Cathedral and Enterprises.
• Work with the COO and senior members of staff and clergy in developing the Cathedral’s commercial strategy and delivery of Cathedral Master Plan.
• Providing strategic business planning support to all commercial and charitable operations.
• Be a part of the Senior Management Team taking a leadership role across the whole of the organisation, supporting Chapter and Heads of Departments, and working constructively with the COO and Chair of Finance, Finance committee and Risk Audit and Review committee.
• Proactively asses the impacts on finances to identify and mitigate any significant risks
• Communicate the Cathedral finances to a range of stakeholders as required (e.g. Cathedral congregation, volunteers, funders, donors etc).
• Work with the Finance Committee, St Edmundsbury Cathedral Trust and Chapter to ensure that investments are delivering the best possible return.
• Oversee the introduction of a coherent pay scale for the Cathedral and Enterprises.

Operational:

• Line manage and work closely with the Finance Manager to ensure the effective management of the Cathedral finances including areas such as payroll and pensions.
• Oversee the preparation of year-end reports and financial statements for the Cathedral, St Edmundsbury Cathedral Trust and Enterprises Ltd.
• Work with the Marketing and Communications Manger to review the presentation of our Annual Report and Accounts.
• Produce and oversee the annual budget.
• Prepare monthly management accounts.
• Responsible for ensuring an effective routine of internal and external audit.
• Helping Chapter with the process for re-tendering for new auditors from time to time.
• Oversight of the various requirement of HMRC, including VAT, PAYE, and NI.
• To undertake essential company secretarial and compliance tasks ensuring compliance with the Charities Act 2011, company law, financial regulations including the annual returns to the Church of England, Charity Commission and Companies House.
• Oversight and authorisation of claims for Gift Aid, and projects under the Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme.
• Ensure effective financial controls are in place.
• To ensure that the Cathedral's restricted funds and investments are effectively managed and accessible to support cash flow or key projects as needed.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, financial policies, regulations and all relevant legal frameworks, together with appropriate management and financial controls and reconciliations are in place, and that the Cathedral has effective banking arrangements.
• Critically assess whether the Cathedral’s accounting software SAGE is appropriate and fit for purpose.
• Support departments across the Cathedral with project development by advising on financial and commercial plans and help develop capital projects and generate business cases and financial forecasts for major developments, undertaking effective tendering for works, and to fulfil the reporting requirements, and their terms and conditions, for donors and grant-making bodies.
• Work with the COO to effectively manage contracts held by the Cathedral (e.g. maintenance, utilities, IT, etc) and ensure value for money.
• Be the lead liaison on the Cathedral’s relationship with our Bankers, Insurers and Investment Managers.
• To support the COO and Director of Enterprises in ensuring that the activities carried out by Enterprises are properly costed, and that all business plans are robust, generating positive returns, with stocks correctly accounted for, reducing the risks wherever possible.
• To ensure the Cathedral invests and prioritises its commitment to the Cathedral's Net Zero strategy.

Governance:

• Attend Chapter meetings and provide regular written and verbal reports.
• Work with the Chair of Finance, Dean and COO to ensure that management information is presented in a transparent way that enables strategic decisions to be taken by Chapter.
• Attend the Finance Committee meetings, liaising with the Chair of Finance to ensure the committee functions well with papers being sent out in a timely way.
• Attend the Risk, Audit and Review Committee meetings.
• Review any governance arrangements related to finance (e.g. Statement of Delegated Authority) at appropriate intervals.

The Abbey of St Edmund: a Millennium of English History of West Suffolk:

St Edmundsbury Cathedral along with its partners West Suffolk Council and English Heritage have been awarded a grant by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

• The CFO must work closely with the project manager to mitigate any financial risks to the Chapter.
• To oversee and authorise financial claims to the project.
• To attend project board meetings if and when required.

Property:

• To provide support to the Facilities Manager in the production and implementation of the property strategy ensuring that it is well considered; investments in the property portfolio are proportionate and effectively delivered; and the returns from rented property are maximised.
• Oversee financial claims and grant funding processes for fabric work.
• Be responsible for developing and implementing our strategy in relation to residential property.
• Oversee residential commercial property leases and transactions.
• Ensure that our property assets are maintained effectively.
• To support and deliver the Cathedral’s Net Zero Carbon Strategy to include reducing energy costs on the Cathedral Carbon Footprint.

Safeguarding:

• Contribute to effective safeguarding systems and culture within the Cathedral alongside other members of the Senior Management Group.
• Undertake any required safeguarding training.
• Follow all safeguarding policies and procedures.

Person Specification

The CFO will bring a proven and successful track record of experience in the following areas.
