The Role 

As our Philanthropy Manager, reporting to the Head of Fundraising, you will identify and approach people who wish to invest in the advancement of worldwide research to find cures for cancer. You will grow Yorkshire Cancer Research’s portfolio of major donors and deliver exceptional levels of tailored engagement and stewardship. In doing this, you will contribute towards the charity’s ambition to secure significant income to achieve the charity's plans to save more lives in Yorkshire and beyond. 
 

Specifically, you will: 

• Develop and implement Yorkshire Cancer Research’s major donor fundraising strategy and plans. 

• Provide philanthropic individuals with the opportunity to fund research and services that will make a positive difference to people with cancer in Yorkshire, and beyond. 

• Closely listen to and understand individual’s interests and/or concerns and match their requirements to the charity’s research/services that are likely to be of greatest interest. 

• Develop a portfolio of potential major donors and create appropriate engagement opportunities* ensuring that these opportunities match the individual donor’s wants and needs. 
  (*These engagement opportunities may include events, communications, smaller dinners, and meetings with senior people at Yorkshire Cancer Research).   

• Provide a bespoke, professional customer experience to all contacts at all times.

• Work with colleagues (e.g. in the marketing and the events teams) to identify existing charity activities that may help attract and engage major donors. 

• Build a pipeline of major donor prospects who share the charity’s values and ambition to save lives by researching and trialling new ways to cure cancer. 

About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, or proven experience working in a similar role at a similar level. 

• To have experience of proactively approaching prospects and building long-term relationships, preferably with philanthropists or family foundations. 

• To have experience of researching individuals and using this insight to inform decision-making. 

• To have experience of working collaboratively and effectively in a matrix-management organisation. 

• To have experience of developing clear Key Performance Indicators and reporting performance against them.  

• To have experience of working with databases and CRM platforms (e.g. Access or Raiser’s Edge). 

• To enjoy working with, and supporting, colleagues as part of a team working towards a common goal.

• To be able to analyse and present data and information in a way that is helpful and actionable to others. 

• To have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to use active listening skills, and write professionally and appropriately for the audience.

The Wise Group and St Giles came together a few years ago to form a partnership with the aim of supporting the Probation Resettlement reforms by offering a high-quality service underpinned by staff who have lived experience and cultural competency. To date we have been awarded more than 20 contracts to deliver Personal Wellbeing, Finance, Benefit & Debt and Women’s Services across England and Wales.

About this key role

Our successful candidate will monitor and manage the receipt of referrals from Probation through the Customer Approved System (CAS) ensuring they are successfully assigned to Personal Wellbeing Coaches using the appropriate guidance and process, ensure all inputting is accurate and within agreed timescales, plus provide regular activity reports to the Personal Wellbeing Manager.  You will be the primary point of contact for all enquiries, external and internal to ensure communication channels are clear and effective, while also liaising with external stakeholders (e.g. Prisons), delivery partners, spot purchase providers and other agencies to arrange appointments, referrals, and generally ensure information exchanged is done in a clear, timely and effective manner.

Developing and maintaining an Estates log and diary to ensure the team always have an approved site to meet service users in mandated locations when needed and providing administration for meetings, including bookings, invitations and minute-taking, are also vital duties.

What we are looking for

• Experience of managing Customer Relationship Management systems, including inputting data and creating reports
• An understanding of the barriers faced by people with complex and multiple needs
• Knowledge of Trauma Informed practice and how to apply it in supporting service users
• Ability to develop and maintain means by which compliance with policy and procedure can be effectively monitored and reported on, including financial expenditure
• Impressive prioritisation relationship-building and interpersonal abilities
• First-class communication skills, both verbal and written
• A flexible, collaborative and professional approach to your work.

We are looking for an HR Business Partner who can help develop our people and teams, supporting a positive culture built on our relationships, vision, and ethos.  

Oasis exists to create healthy thriving communities and reduce exclusion, through a holistic approach to community development and social innovation. Our work is centred in local communities where we provide education; youth, children and families work; and community services. We are also working in reducing homelessness, the prevention of human trafficking, and the creation of the UK’s first secure school, Oasis Restore.

Oasis’ work and mission has grown rapidly in the last decade. We are looking to recruit a HR Business Partner to help us move into our next phase of growth and build the capacity of our Oasis Operations Team. 

This is a new and integral position in our charity, so you will need solid employee relation experience and employment law knowledge, to advise managers confidently. Working as part of the established Operations Team, you will also input into finance and budgets, recruitment at senior levels, and developing our policies in line with our ethos and 9 Habits. It’s a bit of everything, which is what makes this role exciting and a great opportunity for someone who is eager to get hands-on experience in working on the People Strategy of a national charity. As part of the wider Oasis family you will be well supported; being able to work collaboratively with different teams and functions, as well as managing your own workload, is essential.

You’ll have an entrepreneurial spirit that will develop our NextGen Programme through a new stage of growth. You may have experience already working in music, working with artists' events, campaigns, or in community management. You may have worked on or with youth-led organisations or platforms engaging directly with young creatives.

About the role
The NextGen Community Producer will play an integral role at Youth Music shaping and developing our support for young adults, particularly helping them to close the gap between learning and earning in music.

You’ll join us at an exciting time as we look to scale up and enhance our community engagement efforts. Building on the foundations established in phase 1 between 2021-2024, your focus will be on increasing participation, and fostering a more cohesive and active community. Your innovative strategies and passion for supporting young creatives will be key to driving deeper connections among members, and creating a compelling offer for the community.

Day-to-day you’ll be programming national events, workshops and networking opportunities; brokering progression opportunities though Youth Music’s industry partners, and recruiting to paid freelance creative roles. The job will involve managing a variety of relationships with young people, playing a central role in developing and leading the NextGen community strategy, and supporting the development of a new brand and user journey for NextGen community members.

Key responsibilities
Programme Development

• Act as the day-to-day lead and point of contact for the Youth Music NextGen Community, representing their voice internally and externally.
• Devise and implement a clear strategy for the continued growth and development of the NextGen Community, with support from the Engagement team.
• Deliver impactful programmes of activities and support that will progress young people into creative careers, broaden their networks, increase their confidence and create access to new opportunities.
• Develop and grow the NextGen Community brand and visual identity, ensuring a clear offer and user journey for those taking part in Youth Music funded projects, and other potential new members.
• Increase the role the community plays in designing and delivering the NextGen programme, aligning with Youth Music’s wider aims and values around youth voice.
• Increase interaction between NextGen Community members.

Events

• Work with the events team to develop, grow and manage our programme of regular NextGen Community events across the country to bring the community together and showcase their talent.
• Develop and manage our programme of events in London in partnership with Young Guns Network (YGN), taking place in the offices of our music industry partners.
• Grow attendance at all NextGen events, working with our Comms and Marketing team to increase awareness and build the profile of the event series.
• Programme and manage all events within set budgets.

Partnerships

• Build and leverage relationships with partners and networks to enhance the offer for the NextGen Community (such as events, performance opportunities, workshops, studio time, content creation, and exclusive offers etc).
• Manage relationships with key corporate partners (such as Levi’s) to support delivery of the NextGen Community activities.
• Build and maintain a pipeline of potential partners to approach, and support wider fundraising efforts within the team.

Recruitment

• Lead on NextGen recruitment for NextGen Community Events and the Youth Music Awards, with support from the Engagement Coordinator. e.g. Create briefs for NextGen roles and be their main point of contact.
• Support recruitment for any other Youth Music or partner opportunities created for the NextGen Community. (e.g. gigs, festivals, activations, focus groups, etc).
• Develop the NextGen talent pool, finding new ways to promote and manage this.
• Create and source relevant national music-related opportunities for Youth Music’s ‘opportunities board’.

NextGen Fund

• Support the marketing and promotion of the NextGen Fund.
• Contribute and support NextGen Fund decision panels.
• Work with our Comms team to ensure that content created through the NextGen Fund is showcased on Youth Music’s social and digital channels. E.g. Sound of the Next Generation playlist.

Demonstrate Impact

• Work with the Insights Team to listen and act on feedback from the NextGen Community. This will be via monitoring, research and consultation that informs the ongoing development and design of the NextGen offer.
• Prepare and present reports on the plans, activities and impact of NextGen Community.
• Share our learning internally and externally at panels, conferences, and through written pieces.

Systems and processes

• Capture NextGen membership on Salesforce so that we have a clear understanding of who is in our community.
• Work with the Database Administrator to improve our systems, processes and user journeys.
• Work with the Comms and Marketing team to ensure the Youth Music website represents and serves the needs of the NextGen Community.

Other

• Ensure all activities are delivered in line with Youth Music’s values with inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility at their core.
• Be a safeguarding champion, ensuring best practice Safeguarding is embedded throughout our work and all issues and concerns are escalated as appropriate.
• Represent NextGen at events or speaking opportunities and act as an ambassador for Youth Music.
• Ensure budgets are managed effectively, accurate records are kept and invoicing and payments are managed in a timely manner.
• Undertake other tasks that may be requested from time to time that may be consistent with the nature and scope of the role.

• Experience in building and engaging communities in music, creativity or other youth-led spaces, platforms or organisations.

Just for Kids Law (JfKL) works with and for children and young people to hold those with power to account and fight for wider reform. They do this by providing legal representation and advice, strategic litigation, campaigning, and equipping others to work for children’s rights.

They’ve achieved some incredible reforms that make a big difference to the lives of children and young people, including changes to the law on criminal records, which resulted in thousands of young people not being held back from fulfilling their potential, and ensuring that 17-year-olds are always treated as children in police custody. Additionally, JfKL hosts The Children’s Rights Alliance for England (CRAE), which works with around 100 members to promote children’s rights and monitor government implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Missional Discipleship Enabler – Diocese of Durham

The Diocese of Durham is seeking a creative, proactive and relational team player with a passion for discipleship and prayer to take on a key new role in the Diocesan team.

As Missional Discipleship Enabler, you will be part of the Growing Churches Team and work collaboratively to implement the Missional Discipleship strategy, with a special focus on growing prayer and intercession throughout the Diocese.

The successful candidate will develop discipleship resources that support individuals to grow in their faith and equip leaders to become local enablers of discipleship, and also inspire, grow and connect networks of volunteer Discipleship champions and intercessors from across the Diocese.

The Live Fear Free Helpline is an award-winning, 24-hour helpline for survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence, and all other forms of violence against women in Wales. We provide a listening and signposting service to survivors, family, friends, and professionals. In addition to our phone service, we also provide help and support via email, text message and web chat.

The successful candidate will be a member of the Helpline team, reporting to our Helpline Team Leader As part of the job, you will: 

Respond to enquiries to the Live Fear Free Helpline received by phone, email, webchat or text to:

• Provide a confidential information and signposting service to anyone experiencing domestic abuse, sexual violence and/or any other form of violence against women, and to those  

• contacting the service on their behalf.

• Evaluate and respond to need, and minimise risk to those experiencing domestic abuse, sexual violence, or other forms of violence against women.

• Refer service users to appropriate support services making use of the established referral pathways.

Full training will be provided.

As part of this role, you will be expected to work shifts on a 24-hour rota. Weekend and night shifts are a necessary part of the role.
