Details of the role

We welcome applications from people interested in working freelance (1-3 days a week) during the 10-month workshop period for the 2025/26 academic year. This role will commence in September 2025; however, an October half-term start date could be agreed upon for the right candidate.

Remuneration

Freelance delivery rates for the 2025/26 Ambassadors Programme are:

Desk work, feedback and review: £160/day

Facilitation & curriculum design: £195/day

Location

A significant portion of the work will be conducted in London-based partner schools, requiring the ability to travel regularly. There may also be a limited number of residential weeks with young people throughout the year. To fulfil the requirements of this role, there may be occasional in-person touchpoints with the team outside of London, for which reasonable travel and accommodation expenses will be reimbursed.

About the role

We are delighted to have received three-year funding from the Aviva Foundation to fund this brand-new Grants Officer role based in London.

You’ll be part of our Programmes team supporting kinship carers in London to access grants which will help reduce financial stress. This could be grants to buy things like white goods and uniforms or accessing Buttle grants to support children growing up in kinship care.

As Grants Officer you’ll talk to kinship carers, discuss their needs, their priorities and then write charitable grant applications on their and their family’s behalf. 

You will oversee and deliver the grants process, including co-ordinating the purchase of items (such as children’s clothes, beds or washing machines), collecting receipts for items as required by the funders and liaising with all teams to ensure timely receipt of funds within the charity and to the kinship carers.

Building relationships with funders is core, sharing the impact of the grants and insight about the lives of kinship families in London. You’ll work closely with Programmes, Peer Support, Training and Advice colleagues who work with kinship families in London.

You will also create and run online and face-to-face workshops and clinics, helping kinship carers to understand how to apply for other grants, thereby encouraging resilience and confidence to apply for grants themselves.

You will be a proactive and persuasive relationship builder, able to create partnerships with a range of organisations and peer support groups that support kinship families.

You’ll build trusting and respectful relationships with kinship carers who you will work one-to-one with in community settings. And you’ll build relationships with a range of grant giving organisations across London.

We’re looking for someone who can really deliver impact and demonstrate how embedding this role into the community helps to unlock funding and support for kinship carers at a local level.

The type of person we’re looking for

Kinship carers are at the heart of all we do. This role could be the difference between a kinship carer being able to dress their child for school properly, being able to buy a fridge, take a first holiday to the seaside… or going without.

We are looking for someone who is really organised and who is able to capture and present information clearly in a persuasive grant application. The successful applicant will be compassionate, empathetic, and organised. We are looking for someone who understands the needs of kinship families.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering our new grants service across London.
• Meeting performance targets and KPIs as directed.
• Working with kinship carers and their families across London to gather information to complete and submit grant applications.
• Administering grants we secure for our kinship carers and carry out all the necessary administration related to grants.
• Undertaking research to identify funders and build excellent relationships with local grant making charities in order to increase support for kinship families.
• Delivering grant workshops at peer support groups sharing information about locally available grants and providing advice and support on making a successful application.
• Running face-to-face grant clinics within peer support groups or community venues in London, working directly with kinship carers to write and submit requests for grants.

Essential criteria includes:

• Experience of speaking to vulnerable people on the telephone, face-to-face and online, and gathering information with empathy and understanding.
• Experience of working with socially excluded or marginalised people and their families in face-to-face and community settings.
• Experience of running online and face-to-face workshops. 
• An understanding of budgeting, managing money, income and expenditure.
• Proven understanding of the importance of confidentiality and a non-judgmental approach.
• Evidence of awareness of safeguarding issues and good practice. 
• Experience of organising and prioritising a busy workload without close supervision.
• Proven clear understanding of the need to keep grants records and communication with kinship carers and funders up to date.
• Excellent research and writing skills.

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet historically just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this. 

Their vision is to find a cure for all types of brain tumours. To achieve their mission, they are looking for a Community Fundraiser who will proactively engage with supporters, community groups and volunteers across the West Midlands to join their team of 12 Community Fundraisers across the UK.

The Community Fundraiser (West Midlands) is responsible for providing support and guidance to fundraisers within their communities to achieve their ambitions and ultimately raise vital funds for Brain Tumour Research. This is achieved through a wide variety of activities such as helping supporters to make the most of their own fundraising, engaging participants with externally organised events such as the Great Birmingham Run, and encouraging communities to get involved in events organised by Brain Tumour Research such as Wear a Hat Day and Walk for Hope. The Community Fundraiser will be the face of Brain Tumour Research in the area, providing excellent stewardship to existing supporters, and building great relationships with new supporters.

This post has been vacant since Autumn, and as such needs a fundraiser with confidence and capability in fundraising to join the team, provide donor love to the loyal supporters in the area, and approach developing the areas potential with energy and enthusiasm. About the role

We’re looking for a Fundraising Engagement Manager with great personality and team ethic to join our Regional Fundraising team.

This is a role of variety, opportunity and innovation, and we are looking for someone who embraces change and constantly strives to achieve more.

You will maximise income for Young Live vs Cancer by coaching our supporters to reach their goals, whilst seeking out new fundraising opportunities for your geographical area. This role sits within the ‘Regional Engagement’ team and we need someone with natural customer service skills who wants to deliver a legendary experience to all of their supporters. Your team of supporters will range from volunteers and individuals, to groups and local corporates.

We are looking for an experienced Trust Fundraiser with a background in securing income from charitable trusts and foundations to join our team to help Groundswell continue to create positive change in the lives of people, services and systems on their mission to tackle homeless health inequalities. Recently kicking off our new ‘Creating Positive Change’ strategy, coproduced by over 130 staff, volunteers, clients and partners, we have ambitious plans and a compelling model which in its simplest form promotes healthier lives and a better future for anyone who has experienced homelessness.  

The successful post holder will have experience in leading the development of well-written, compelling proposals and reports to charitable trusts and corporate foundations; demonstrating key relationship management skills to ensure all our funders feel part of Groundswell’s mission. You will be a flexible worker with strong organisational, research and written communication skills. You will pride yourself in collaborative working to ensure the most successful chance of securing income, whilst being a self-starter who can manage their own workload effectively.

This is a new role in our Participation Team to help us deliver work that amplifies the voices of people with lived experience to find solutions to homelessness and health inequalities. The post holder will lead a few projects and partnerships, with responsibility for planning and delivering activities and monitoring their progress.

Some examples of current projects are:

• Coordinating and supporting a group of six people with lived experience to co-design an immersive audio story and campaign to improve the health of people living in temporary accommodation in London. 

• Working with the City of London Corporation to embed meaningful co-production practices in their homelessness services; bringing people with experience of homelessness, frontline staff, and commissioners together to improve service design and delivery. 

Your main task will be to coordinate groups of people with lived experience of homelessness and health inequalities, alongside Groundswell peers and colleagues, services, local authorities, funders and policymakers.

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Philanthropy & Engagement Associate will be responsible for the execution and management of a comprehensive regular and annual giving programme, including the coordination and oversight of supporting initiatives in the areas of donor relations, development services and stewardship.

Main Duties

Make a Change 

Make a Change is a community-wide, early response approach to people using abusive behaviours (or who are concerned that they might be) towards a current or ex-partner. The model has been developed by Respect in partnership with Women’s Aid Federation England, drawing inspiration from their Change that Lasts approach. It includes three strands: expert support programme for perpetrators with parallel support for survivors, workforce development and community outreach.

Improving the safety, freedom and wellbeing of adult and child survivors of domestic abuse is a key outcome for our work with perpetrators.  The Make a Change model is a multi-partner project offering local areas a framework for delivering perpetrator work. Where feasible, we aim to establish partnerships with local survivor domestic abuse service to deliver parallel support for survivors (referred to as Integrated Support Service) as part the expert support strand.

The role focuses on continuously developing our work with perpetrators, contributing to the growing evidence base on effective behaviour change and strategies to keep survivors safe. 

From Amnesty International to Greenpeace UK, progressive organisations are using digital mobilisation to activate hundreds of thousands of campaigners and raise millions of pounds online. Forward Action believes that a digital mobilisation model - where organisations use digital channels to drive hundreds of thousands of supporters to take advocacy, fundraising and volunteering actions - can revolutionise campaigning and fundraising in the NGO sector. We help progressive organisations build digital mobilisation programmes and, as a Senior Digital Strategist, you will work with organisations to help them use a digital mobilisation model to drive real-world change.

You will be at the heart of our digital campaigns and fundraising work, managing projects and planning impactful strategies to help our progressive partners hit their goals. You’ll even have the opportunity to work on proposals and pitches for new projects, steering how we adapt to client briefs and our bigger picture organisational strategy. This is a fixed-term maternity cover contract, expected to last up to 12 months, with the freedom to work both in our London office and remotely anywhere in the UK. You also have the opportunity to work abroad for up to 3 months in the year, as long as you can be online for the required core hours outlined below. Forward Action works a four day week, with all team members not working on Friday.

What you’ll do as part of our team

Strategy + planning

• Develop strategies for the projects on which you lead, working with the Digital Strategy Manager as needed to ensure we are always delivering strategic excellence 
• Schedule and attend planning and project review meetings with clients
• Take part in workshops to generate ideas for tactics that help our clients hit their goals

Project management

• Manage projects from conception through to build, coordinating work from both our creative and tech teams
• Being the key point of contact for our partners on specific project strands
• Ensuring all projects you manage are delivered on time and to scope
• Coordinating with freelancers as required 
• Building partner relationships
• Ongoing management of live partnerships, ensuring we’re always exceeding expectations and are tuned into different partner needs
• Building excellent rapport whilst delivering projects within agreed scopes and in a timely manner

Reporting + data analysis

• Analyse performance and test data, and provide strategic recommendations based on your insights 
• Ads setup + management
• Build digital ads on a variety of platforms for our partners, ensuring an effective targeting strategy 
• Ensure we are always optimising ad spend and suggesting changes in approach in line with results 

Builds 

• Working from templates to set up landing pages on a range of platforms 
• Coordinating with the tech team to manage more complicated tech builds 
• Building emails as required by partners 
• Winning new business 
• Work with the partnerships team to produce compelling proposals and win new business, as required.
• Assisting the Digital Strategy Manager in planning and scoping the time it takes your team to deliver certain tasks and use this to accurately quote the costs of projects 
• Contribute to the wider team 
• Actively participate in all-team meetings and internal knowledge sharing channels, contributing ideas and adding insights

Essential criteria

• 4+ years’ experience working in digital marketing, with proven experience of developing strategies and campaigns that deliver results against goals 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience of managing multiple stakeholders and building strong working relationships across functions 
• Being comfortable working in a remote-first, fast-paced environment
• Experience of using digital platforms to build and send mass emails, and comfortable managing email lists 
• Experience of managing ads in Meta, and proven ability to interpret the data to optimise against goals 
• Excellent organisation and attention-to-detail with ability to juggle multiple priorities and keep to tight deadlines 
• Experience of managing projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and to scope 
• Dedication to helping build a fairer, more progressive society
• Fluency in spoken and written English
• The ability to learn quickly. We don’t expect you to know or have done everything when you start - but if you don’t have this, we’ll be looking for evidence that you can pick up new skills and knowledge quickly, then run with them.

Desirable criteria

• Experience in the charity and/or non-profit sector 
• Knowledge of how to plan and deliver a fair A/B experiment
• Experience of working with Engaging Networks and Mailchimp, and/or other CRMs and email software
• Experience in running TikTok, and Search ads

Salary and benefits package

Starting salary: £37,620 (outside of London, with a £3k annual travel bursary)/£42,135 (inside London) 

Holiday: 25 days/year (pro rata to 20 days per year due to the 4 day week), plus bank holidays and the week between Christmas and New Year.

Role overview 

This is a new role within FILE, providing dedicated thought leadership internally and externally with respect to our land use and nature strategies. You will support our partners to accelerate a transition to sustainable food production, secure and enforce sustainable frameworks for extraction of transition minerals, and contribute to safeguarding key global ecosystems, including through enhancing and protecting the rights of indigenous peoples and local communities.

You will work closely with the Director of Program Strategy, Regional Directors, and other portfolio leads to ensure land use and nature strategies are developed and integrated throughout our funding portfolios. Externally, you will build and maintain relationships with some of the world’s leading climate and biodiversity lawyers and campaigners, as well as with aligned philanthropies.

Our land use and nature work mainly supports partners working on protecting habitats in biodiversity rich areas of Africa, South America and South East Asia, including by challenging harmful practices of corporations based in the Global North. Its scope may shift over time, including as the successful candidate refines our strategy going forwards.

We seek to protect the rights of, and support partnerships with, indigenous people and local communities. Key strategic outcomes pursued include confronting supply chains of major corporates that drive greenhouse gas emissions, biodiversity loss, and violate the rights of local communities, and securing regulatory changes to drive finance towards cleaner, more equitable alternatives.

Key Responsibilities

Each of these is conducted in close collaboration with relevant colleagues across FILE’s strategy teams, as well as FILE’s Research, Impact, and Learning, Grant Management, and Philanthropic Partnerships teams: 

• Lead the development of FILE’s land use and nature strategies, including a focus on legal and narrative and movement-building approaches, as well as on enhancing and protecting the rights of indigenous peoples and local communities 

• These strategies will set out a well-considered approach to sectors and themes including exploitation of transition minerals, deforestation and biodiversity loss driven by industrial agriculture, addressing rights violations in global corporate supply chains, etc 

• Work in close collaboration with strategy, grant making and fundraising leads within FILE to increase access to funding sources and the resilience of partners working in the field

• Developing, maintaining and convening external partnerships and networks with partners and practitioners working on and use and nature strategies 

• Provide leadership to the wider philanthropic and donor community on the need for legal interventions in pursuit of FILE’s land use and nature strategy, and support fundraising for FILE as well as directly for our partners 

Key Outcomes 

• FILE has a well-considered land use and nature strategy, including a focus both on legal and related narrative and movement strategies, which is integrated throughout our funding portfolios

• Increased funding is made available to partner organisations working on land use and nature, via FILE or directly from other philanthropies

• FILE colleagues and external partners have a trusted thought partner and collaborator on developing and implementing land use and nature legal strategies 

• Overseeing / establishing high quality convening(s), with support of FILE’s Convening Manager, and networks of civil society and relevant legal practitioners and peers working in this area, to catalyse innovation and strengthen connectivity 

• An engaged group of funders, ready to deepen their support for our partners’ work on land use and nature strategies 

About you

• Experience of and expertise in developing and / or delivering legal strategies to advance systemic change on land use and nature 

• Demonstrated experience in linking legal strategies to effective communications, campaign, and/or movement strategies to advance systemic change 

• An ability to strategically manage projects, including prioritisation and forwards planning

• An ability to work equitably and effectively with multiple perspectives and build trust with diverse partners, and understanding of funder positionality and responsibility. 

• A willingness to travel from time to time (at least four times a year, more if working remotely) to meet FILE staff and partners 

• An ability to work flexibly as part of a team spread across many time zones, which will involve some meetings outside of standard working hours 

• A professional standard of written and spoken English

Desired criteria 

• A current or past qualification / bar admission as a lawyer 

• Experience of working as a lawyer on strategic litigation against governments, corporations, or financial institutions 

• Demonstrated experience of building and / or maintaining external networks, bringing expert practitioners and / or civil society together 

• Experience working with communities adversely affected by climate change, environmental harms, and/or related human rights violations, particularly in the Global South 

• Existing relationships with NGOs, lawyers, and / or philanthropic partners working on relevant land use and nature strategies 

• An ability to communicate with partners in other relevant languages, including Portuguese, French, Spanish, and Bahasa Indonesia, would be a bonus but not essential

Through grant-making and in-house legal expertise, we empower our partners to deliver strategic, innovative legal interventions and we support lawyers in their own countries to bring their own cases.

Spectra CIC delivers peer to peer counselling services across London. The post holder will coordinate Spectra’s LGBTQ+ Youth Counselling Service. This will include the delivery of counselling sessions, client allocations, service development and waiting list management. In addition to liaison with members of the counselling team.

Our expert team of canine behaviourists provide behavioural support and advice to teams within Battersea, members of the public, and the rescue organisations we work with around the world. The team design and help implement behaviour modification and training plans for dogs whilst coaching members of the canine care groups through the practical day-to-day steps. They also assist with behavioural and welfare assessments of animals who come into our centres and are on hand to help manage and provide further support with dogs with more complex behavioural needs. The team provide support to dogs during their stay at Battersea, and are also available for continued advice after rehoming.

We are now looking to recruit a Canine Behaviour and Training Advisor for our team in London. Within this role, you will work with our operational teams in the assessment and welfare of the dogs in our care and in the provision of behavioural training and advice for staff, volunteers, customers and external organisations. You will be working as part of a care group to create behaviour modification plans, support with handling difficult dogs and make recommendations, along with the individual care group, for individual dog outcomes.
