We are looking for a Community Fundraising Manager to use our unique history to engage with our community and help the RHN fund more of the vital work we do.

Salary range: £42,000 per annum - Incremental reviews take place on an annual basis

Summary of position and the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability

The RHN is a leading national centre of excellence, providing adult person-centred services that span the entire care pathway from post-acute rehabilitation services to end of life care, for people with complex Neuro-disability and their families, underpinned by a strong research and education programme.

The Fundraising Department is a small and friendly team, responsible for raising funds for a variety of vital therapies and services for the patients and residents. Furthermore, through a variety of income streams, the team helps to fund capital projects, such as ward refurbishments and new facilities.

The post-holder will become a key part in the development and growth of the charity, maximising financial income and raising awareness of the RHN. Managing our Community Fundraising Executive, you will maximise existing relationships and opportunities through excellent supporter stewardship. You will identify new fundraising opportunities, identifying and building relationships with new community groups. This role will involve occasional weekend and evening work, so a flexible approach is required.

Key responsibilities

• Organise the full calendar of fundraising events, including sporting/challenge, bespoke, special and community events, working towards a £230,000 target and £3.1m team target.
• Line manage the Community Fundraising Executive
• Be the first point of contact for volunteer event committees hosting events on site.
• Identify and build relationships with new community groups.
• Manage the delivery of a small portfolio community fundraising events including (but not limited to) the Christmas Fair, Bridge events and School Fun Runs
• Maintain relationships with existing corporate supporters and recruit new local and large businesses to actively engage in challenge and community events and corporate team building activities.
• Organise and secure sponsorship for special projects and events such as the annual Supporters Thank You Evening, Christmas Carol Concert and Party for Putney.
• Oversee the stewardship of challenge event participants
• Attend challenge events and recruit event volunteers
• Oversee the recruitment of participants for a range of running and other challenge events
• Retain and grow a third party portfolio of challenge events
• Work alongside the Communications Team and external designers to create and produce a range of publicity materials.
• Increase internal awareness of community fundraising throughout the organisation.
• Any other duties that may reasonably be expected to ensure the smooth running of the department, including working occasional weekends and evenings for specific events and providing cover for absent colleagues.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

Essential

• Comfortable in an environment interacting with profoundly disabled patients and their families.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in Community Fundraising.
• Demonstrable experience leading Community and Challenge events.
• Self-motivated, able to motivate others and work well as part of a team.
• Strong organisational and time-keeping skills.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Confident in talking to groups and attending events, speaking about the charity.
• Computer literate, using Microsoft programmes, databases.
• Line Management experience.
• Experience of budgeting and reporting.

Desirable

• Experience of managing corporate relationships.
• Experience in or willingness to learn design software, WordPress, Dot digital.
• Full clean Drivers licence.

The London Programme Coordinator will be responsible for managing a caseload of up to seven partner schools, attending and coordinating weekly tutoring sessions, developing relationships with pupils, school staff and volunteer tutors and collecting data for monitoring and evaluation purposes. This role plays a crucial part in overseeing the quality of face to face and online tutoring sessions to ensure effective and impactful programme delivery. 

Duties and responsibilities 

• Responsible for the delivery of Action Tutoring’s tutoring programmes in partner schools, whether online or face to face. This includes working closely to manage and effectively communicate with all key stakeholders: schools, pupils and volunteer tutors; leading weekly face to face and online tutoring sessions; leading on reviewing and improving programme delivery, using data to reliably assess programme performance.
• Responsible for overseeing the quality of both face to face and online tutoring, engaging in quality assurance processes, and providing feedback to volunteer tutors to ensure effective and impactful delivery.  
• Develop and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders in partner schools, including members of the Senior Leadership Team and subject teachers.
• Update and maintain Action Tutoring’s database, including collecting data for monitoring and evaluation purposes, such as attendance records, baseline and interim assessments and end of programme surveys. Reporting regularly on key performance indicators.

Qualifications and experience criteria:

• Experience working with volunteers and/or young people
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Evidence of ability to prioritise and manage administrative tasks

Salary: £26,368 + £2,271 London weighting per annum

Contract and hours:  Permanent, full time contract (37.5 hours)

This is a fantastic opportunity to join and lead Learn English at Home (LEAH), a small and dynamic charity who have been supporting ethnically and culturally diverse adults to learn English for forty two years.

As Charity Director, you’ll be working in a multi-cultural environment supporting vulnerable people with limited English across Kingston, Hounslow and Richmond. Our client group includes refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants, and our volunteer-led services support them to learn English and gain access to vital local services, including housing, education, healthcare.We provide a ‘blended’ service for our clients which includes in-person and on-line support as well as class-based teaching, all of which is dedicated to helping those with the lowest language skills to progress into volunteering, education and work.

LEAH has experienced a period of growth, having doubled its staff team across the last 5 years to meet demand for our services. We have no shortage of clients, a strong and enthusiastic volunteer base and a dedicated and experienced staff team.

LEAH is at an exciting time, and we are aiming to expand our service impact and reach across London.  The new Director will lead the development of the new 2025-28 strategic plan which will be the key to our future development and success.

About the opportunity 

Critical to our mission, we are looking to recruit a London Programme Manager to be responsible for a geographical area and the schools within it, whilst supporting geographical expansion. You will oversee your region’s Action Tutoring programmes, liaising with our partner schools and developing new school partnerships, whilst supporting your team of Programme Coordinators to engage pupils and support them to build relationships with stakeholders and retain a strong pool of tutors.

As a Programme Manager, you will line manage up to seven Programme Coordinators to ensure they effectively manage their caseload of schools, whilst driving the quality of programmes and ensuring that the delivery of programmes meets organisational KPIs. This role will take a lead on new school recruitment, regularly pitching to Senior Leaders within schools and managing school partnerships within your region to ensure Action Tutoring’s growth targets are met. Additionally, you will contribute to the wider leadership of the Action Tutoring programme team, lead on programme-specific projects to support the programme department’s priorities and will be expected to support the wider learning and development needs of the Programme Coordinator team.

The position would suit someone who enjoys working with people who have a frontline role, gets energy from pitching to schools and wants to increase their management experience in an exciting and rapidly developing charity. The successful candidate should be able to manage their own workload to a high standard as well as support others, have excellent attention to detail, be adaptable, relational and used to problem-solving, and be able to work well with a range of
stakeholders and be confident in carrying out administrative tasks to support programme delivery.

Comprehensive induction and training will be provided. Action Tutoring is committed to providing development opportunities for its staff and, as a growing charity, there are plenty of opportunities to take on new areas of responsibility.

A-C in maths and English at GCSE (or equivalent experience)
