Overview

We are looking to recruit a Fundraising Training Coordinator who is able to grow and develop our fundraising team, supporting the organisation to get the funding it needs to operate and be successful.

A bit about this role:

As a charity we can help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations from our supporters. Raising funds is a key role in our charity, helping to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need.

As a fundraising volunteer, we will support you every step of the way to ensure your time at Cats Protection is a positive and rewarding one. Whatever time you can give really does make a big difference We have lots of exciting activities to choose from for example attending a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, handling administrative tasks, or contributing to the development of new fundraising ideas. What can you expect to be doing?

As a flexible role, you have the choice to be involved in the following:

• face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with fundraising events, attending supermarket collections and monitoring collection boxes.

We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. The Dear Toby Trust was established in 2017, in memory of Toby Hambrook-Skinner who passed away at Great Ormond Street Hospital after an epic battle with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. He was just seven months old. Toby was diagnosed at eight weeks and began an aggressive treatment plan. Toby’s family and friends have set up this charity to find new ways to treat rare cancers and reduce the suffering of children enduring cancer treatment. Watch the charity’s film to learn more about their work.

The Dear Toby Trust is currently in a key growth phase, after raising more than £47,000 through its first corporate partnership, grants and fundraising events including: the charity’s first ever Gala and The Royal Parks Half Marathon in the last year. The charity also has an active and ongoing appeal, seeking to fund three fellows to provide care on the Bone Marrow Transplant and Haemotology wards at GOSH. These fellows will transform quality of care for patients and develop on new research. The Dear Toby Trust is committed to funding one of these positions, but calling for additional donations to reach their target of £650,000 to fund three fellows for three years.

The volunteer would be assisting the charity at a crucial time, to provide support with fundraising and communications. The Dear Toby Trust is a small team and this volunteer role provides an invaluable opportunity for those interested in working the charity sector, to support an organisation in a key growth phase and have real responsibility and ownership over key tasks. The role would include the following responsibilities within fundraising and communications, with the volunteer working virtually:

Fundraising events

• Supporting with logistics for key fundraising events during the year, such as the Royal Parks Half Marathon. Ensuring that key information is collected and communicated to those taking part in fundraising events.

• Researching potential funders including corporates, trusts and foundations and individual donors to secure funding for the Trust’s current appeal

• Supporting in identifying future corporate partnerships for 2025 and beyond

• Supporting with drafting and submitting applications for grant funding, working closely with the team and trustees

Communications

• Updating the Dear Toby Trust website in line with recommendations from a recently conducted social media and website audit.

• Regularly updating the website with upcoming fundraising opportunities and other news.

• Creating engaging content for the Dear Toby Trust social media, including Instagram and LinkedIn, highlighting key successes and recent events

Other

• Other general administrative tasks will be required on related to fundraising and communications on an ad hoc basis.

Your support will be invaluable to a small but growing organisation that’s looking to make a real impact in the lives of children and families affected by cancer. The volunteer will also have access to the range of expertise from The Dear Toby Trust founders and trustees, and the team will provide letters of recommendations for future roles for the volunteer.

Volunteer at Webbs of Wychbold

At  Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We are a charity, and our fundraising is vital to enable us to continue providing care and support to the children: it costs around £11 million a year to run our care services.

Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. We’re looking for a new fundraising volunteer and/or director! Are you passionate about securing funds for grassroot organisations?

This opportunity involves overseeing Fuel Poverty Action’s fundraising plans and strategy, reaching out to donors and promoting our vital campaigns through grant bids to help end fuel poverty in the UK. 

This role would require an average of 16-20 hrs per month and can be done remotely. We are also open to you joining FPA’s board of directors, subject to capacity and experience. 

This offers a chance to directly contribute to tackling fuel poverty and ensuring access to affordable energy for all whilst strategizing and learning alongside great activists. If you're eager to contribute, we’d love to hear from you!

Alex, The Leukodystrophy Charity (Alex TLC) is a small, independent rare disease charity competing for essential resources within an extremely competitive arena.

Like many other small charities, we have grown organically from an informal support group to the recognised voice for leukodystrophy patients and their families. In order to fulfil our charitable objectives we need to increase and sustain our corporate income levels.

About Roots Academy

At Roots Academy, we’ve built a learning experience that’s changing the lives of the ummah’s future leaders, change-makers and visionaries.

Our vision is enabling university students to live God-centred lives, so we teach structured, engaging and transformative face-to-face foundational Islamic education to over 1,800 students across the UK.

Role Summary

Roots Academy is a non-profit company, established in 2020. The team currently consists of 80 core volunteers across the UK. Roots first began fundraising during Ramadan 2023, raising over £25,000 in one off donations, and £2,200 in monthly commitments. Building on this, Roots is now seeking a Volunteer Fundraising Team Leader, to build the Fundraising function, and help increase donations.

Key tasks

• Work with the Exec team to develop a fundraising strategy
• Identify opportunities for Roots Academy to raise funds – e.g. networking with major donors, events, community fundraising, mosque collections, partnerships, grants, trusts, foundations etc.
• Lead the fundraising team of volunteers to implement the fundraising strategy, and raise funds
• Work with the marketing and finance teams to maintain donor records
• Work with marketing to give feedback to donors on how funds are utilised to deliver Islamic Education

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Identify new funding opportunities aligned with ADC’s vision by researching potential donors and funders
• Update ADC’s donor pipeline and ensure all prospective and current donor details are accurately recorded
• Support the grant writing process and the organization of fundraising events
• Maintain a calendar of upcoming application and reporting deadlines, coordinate submissions and ensure deadlines are met and records are accurately maintained
• Collaborate with the fundraising and marketing teams in executing fundraising campaigns
• Assist with donor relationship management and provide updates on ongoing projects
• Prepare and facilitate timely delivery of internal reports while adhering to reporting timelines 
• Assist in preparing presentations and in creating donor communication materials (promotional materials, such as flyers and digital content)
• Coordinate meetings with ADC’s key stakeholders like donors and partners
• Undertake responsibility for carrying out other relevant tasks as required

Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Expertise

Essential

· Graduate/ Post graduate degree in social sciences, development studies, business management or equivalent

· At least 5-7 years of relevant experience in fundraising, reporting, writing proposals and grant applications in a development context in Africa, preferably Kenya

· Knowledge of grant making processes and platforms

· Advanced research, writing and editing skills with exceptional attention to detail

· Strong time management skills

· Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people from various backgrounds

· Ability to coordinate with departments, organize and prioritize workload and adhere to deadlines 

· Ability to come up with innovative ideas for campaigns and events and develop new ways to attract and retain donors

· Ability to actively seek and give input in a collaborative team environment  

· Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a remote team

· Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) and Google Suites

· A committed team player with outstanding communication skills in English (Verbal and written)

· Available to volunteer at least 7-10 hours a week

Desirable

· Experience working in an early stage start-up and gone through a scaling phase

· Experience in fundraising/crowdfunding campaigns

· Passion for the start-up life and comfortable in a role with a little ambiguity
