About us
Who we are
Archway is a registered charity providing a pathway of support to alleviate the hurt and distress, and the impact on mental and physical health, caused by loneliness and social isolation.
Anyone over the age of 18 in Oxford, Abingdon and the surrounding areas who identifies as lonely and/or isolated may be eligible for our services.
Our culture and values
Founded in Oxford by Paul Hawgood in January 1982, Archway has been helping to relieve the distress associated with loneliness, its causes and impact. Archway’s inspiration and values are derived from the Christian faith but we are committed to serving those hurt by loneliness irrespective of religion, culture, gender identity or personal circumstances.
As a small staff team working with a committed Board of Trustees and a team of over 80 volunteers we achieve our goals through our core mission and values:
-
Working with compassion
-
Conveying hope
-
Respecting the potential and value of each person
-
Working towards sustainable solutions
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
We have signed the Oxfordshire Inclusive Economy Charter to support a more inclusive County.
The Charter was created by the Oxfordshire Inclusive Economy Partnership,
a group of over 100 organisations working together to share knowledge, expertise and resources to address some of our greatest challenges. You can view our Equality, diversity and inclusion policy on our website https://www.archwayfoundation.org.uk/who-we-are
