We are looking for two new trustees who can bring expertise from the philanthropic and talent management spheres, respectively.

The Organisation:
Founded in 1868, the Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS) is the oldest charity dedicated to the Commonwealth. The RCS is a network of organisations and individuals across more than 70 countries in the Commonwealth and beyond who promote the value and the values of the Commonwealth. His Majesty The King is the Patron of the Royal Commonwealth Society, and Her Majesty The Queen is the Vice-Patron. The King succeeded The late Queen Elizabeth II, who had been Patron since 1952 when she was also Head of the Commonwealth. Queen Camilla had previously been our inaugural Vice-Patron since 2018. The Honorary Vice-President is the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth.  The Royal Commonwealth Society is governed by an experienced Council comprising the Executive Chair and Trustees.

The offices are in Guildhall, London, with team members based in Canada, Malta, Nigeria, the Solomon Islands, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. In addition to branches, the Royal Commonwealth Society has an active network of over 450 Associate Fellows. Formerly Queen’s Young Leaders and other outstanding young people from all 56 Commonwealth countries, the Associate Fellows are reappointed annually based on their contributions to their respective Working Groups.

The Role:
To get the most out of being on the RCS’s Council, we are looking for those
who have a passion for our aims and can commit to the time and effort
required. Our trustees need strategic vision, independent judgement, and an
ability to work effectively and actively as part of a small but dedicated charitable
organisation.
To fulfil the duties of this role, we are looking for someone who has
considerable experience in philanthropy or talent and human resource
management. A background in the Commonwealth is not required. We are
especially keen to hear from people from a wide range of backgrounds.

• Active and committed Member of the Council to give input into the Society’s strategy and direction
• Management of finances of the Society
• Contribute to fundraising efforts
• Responsible for the governance of the Society
• Serve as a representative of a significant charitable institution

Person Specification:

• Background or experience in philanthropy or talent/people management
• Board/trustee experience would be desirable but not required
• High-level professional experience
• Interest in the voluntary sector and its contribution to society
• Interest in global affairs and an international outlook
• Commitment to good governance
• Strong interpersonal skills and a collegiate approach

Do you care about the future of the countryside in North and East Yorkshire?  Do you have skills and experience in supporter development/fundraising that you could bring to our work?  CPRE North and East Yorkshire are looking for a Trustee and Supporter Development Lead to contribute to our important work protecting our beautiful local countryside and green spaces.

Who we are

CPRE campaigns nationally and locally for positive solutions which safeguard the long-term future of our precious countryside. At national level, the charity produces in-depth research and sound arguments to press government, Parliament and other decision-makers to support our countryside, be it national landscapes or simply much loved local green spaces, through policies which ensure:

- The right development in the right place

- Active support to improve biodiversity and 

- Countryside protection from climate change impacts and contribution to climate change solutions.

Here in North and East Yorkshire, the largest of the CPRE regions (6,900 square miles!), we have a successful track record of enabling residents and community groups to help shape development in ways that enrich the countryside around them. We also use our planning expertise to proactively campaign for local authority planning policies that safeguard and enhance our beautiful and varied landscapes.

The role

Our small but energetic team of volunteer Trustees enable people to protect the countryside they love and enjoy the benefits it brings wherever they live.  But with your support we can do even more! 

In joining us as a Trustee on the Board you’ll have a general role in developing the charity in line with our strategy and, together with other Trustees, ensuring compliance with Charity Commission and other legal and governance regulations.  However additionally as our Lead for Supporter Development you will use your specialist knowledge to inform and guide the Trustee Board in this area and coordinate and drive forward related activities to meet agreed aims.   As part of this remit, you will also oversee the recruitment of a Communications and Supporter Care Officer (a brand new role) and have ongoing responsibility for communicating organisational requirements and providing feedback to the individual once engaged.

+Trustees initially serve a three-year term and may serve up to six years in total. 

What we need and what’s in it for you

You don’t need to have prior Trustee experience but we are looking for applicants with manager/senior level expertise in Supporter Development/Fundraising.  By volunteering with us you’ll be using what you know to help find positive solutions for the major issues facing the countryside and the environment as well as being part of a group of people who share your passion for the countryside.  Our friendly team will provide you with initial training and support to develop in your role. RMC seek to appoint 2 experienced people to join our Board. We welcome applications from individuals who in addition to relevant governance experience, may have experience of finances, employment law, communications, fundraising etc. 

What will you be doing?

The Refugee and Migrant Centre (RMC) is a well-established, award winning regional charity, renowned for its work with refugees & migrants. RMC operate across Birmingham and the Black Country and have a very broad remit and extremely varied service user base. We have 5 offices across our area of operation, over a hundred staff and dozens of volunteers

The ideal candidates would have considerable experience in similar roles, have in depth understanding of charity boards/governance and be sympathetic to our ethos and values. 

For these non-remunerated, voluntary roles, we would ask that you dedicate time to attend 7-8 board meetings annually as well as social events, celebrations etc.

The key officers’ roles within the board are currently filled but vacancies for these roles may arise in the future.

Why we need you:

This role is vital to the work of FareShare Merseyside. You will be preparing and cooking meals for our volunteers and staff, cleaning down the kitchen, and adhering to allergen, HACCP, and other compliance checks.

For the role of the Volunteer Kitchen Lead/ Chef, a background in food is essential. If you have experience leading a small team, and adhering to food hygiene, you would be a great fit for this role.

What will I be doing?

• Learning how to use our internal Warehouse systems to ‘book out’ food, ensuring a good level of stock is available at all time.
• Planning, creating, and cooking meals from surplus food for volunteer and staff lunches.
• Carrying out routine kitchen cleaning, health and safety checks, and completing all relevant paperwork.
• Assisting with one-off corporate or fundraising events.
• Representing FareShare in a courteous and professional manner at all times.

What we need you to be:

• Minimum of 18 years old
• Experience cooking for large numbers of people
• Passionate about food and saving surplus food from going to waste
• Inventive in the kitchen and able to cook for all dietary requirements
• Positive, friendly and personable, able to interact well with different people

We are working in partnership with Anvil Arts, an independent charitable trust, and the largest performing arts organisation in Hampshire. They operate three fantastic cultural venues in Basingstoke, including The Anvil (1,400-seat), which is renowned as one of the top 5 concert halls in country. Within the same building is The Forge – an intimate 95-seat studio theatre, and in the heart of the town centre is The Haymarket, a 400-seat theatre set within a Grade II listed building.

Anvil Arts creates a year-round programme encompassing the best in music, performance, cultural education, arts participation, and outreach work. Since opening in 1994, they have sold over 5,000,000 tickets and brought audiences to Basingstoke from as far afield as Argentina, Iceland, Canada, and Japan. 

They are now seeking to appoint new Trustees. Experienced and committed individuals are sought to join and expand the Board, supporting the implementation of the organisation’s ambitious plans and to make a major contribution to the future success of the organisation.

A successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following:

• A commitment to Anvil Arts and its objectives, and a willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to the duties of a trustee.
• Previous experience as a trustee is desired although not essential.
• Finance: Post-qualification membership of a recognised professional accountancy body (e.g. ACCA or CIMA) or qualified by experience
• Fundraising: Fundraising experience, ideally with exposure to fundraising in the arts and culture sector
• Community Engagement: Experience of serving in a role focused on community engagement, participation, or outreach
• Commercial Arts: Substantial commercial experience at the executive level running either an artistic programme or the commercial aspects of a venue at a similar scale. Ideally someone with broad programme experience

We are seeking strategic and creative individuals, with good communication and interpersonal skills, tact, and diplomacy, who can serve the Board with integrity, fairness, and independent judgement. 4 Board meetings are held annually, which are a mix of in-person and virtual, plus an Away Day and opportunities to support and attend events. Trustees can serve for three years, with the option to remain on for a second term.

New Beginnings Kwa Ground (NBKG)

NBKG is an organisation that is integrating mental health into substance abuse prevention.

New Beginnings Kwa Ground (NBKG) is dedicated to tackling critical social and environmental challenges that affect Kenyan youth, particularly in underserved communities. Our work focuses on mental health, substance abuse prevention, and social well-being, ensuring that young people have the necessary support to build healthier, more fulfilling lives.

NBKG’s approach goes beyond drug prevention we tackle the root causes of substance abuse while empowering youth with the skills, support, and resources needed to thrive. Grants & Partnerships Lead

Reports to: Founder & CEO

About the Role:
NBKG is seeking a proactive and passionate Grants & Partnerships Lead to grow our impact by securing funding and forging meaningful collaborations. You'll lead grant writing, manage donor relations, and build strategic partnerships to support the expansion of the Kujali mental health and drug prevention program for youth across Kenya.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and apply for grants from local and international donors.
• Develop and manage funding proposals, budgets, and reports.
• Build partnerships with NGOs, government, research institutions, and corporates.
• Support resource mobilization strategy and sustainability planning.

Ideal Candidate:

• 3+ years in fundraising, grants management, or nonprofit development.
• Excellent proposal writing and communication skills.
• Strong relationship-building mindset.
• Deep passion for youth mental health and social impact.
