The Grants Officer will work in the Grants Team as part of the wider Development Department, to manage a portfolio of grants that fund the organisation’s work.

ClientEarth’s Development Department is responsible for raising and managing funds to enable the organisation to deliver its mission – using the power of the law to bring about systemic change that protects the earth for – and with – its inhabitants. The department is formed of several fundraising strands: a Grants Team and a Business Development Team that manage and secure funding from trusts, foundations, and institutional donors; and a Philanthropy Team, working with a wide range of individuals and organisations to raise primarily unrestricted gifts to support ClientEarth’s work. 

Main Duties

• Funding portfolio management - Have a close and in-depth knowledge of their grants portfolio, including a sound understanding of the philanthropic, institutional and statutory funding mix;
• Internal and external communications - Meet with Trust, Foundation and Institution portfolio managers to discuss proposals, provide updates on the programmatic work, and to formally report back on financial, organisational and technical issues; 
• Project management - Effectively manage reporting and the grant renewal process from start to completion including working with multiple teams across ClientEarth’s European and international offices to ensure input from all avenues to complete proposals and reports in a timely and high-quality manner; and 
• Financial planning and budget handling - Work with Finance and Programmes staff to develop individual budgets for funding proposals
• Systems and processes - Maintain funder database systems (Raiser’s Edge) and other organisational databases (SharePoint) on a daily basis

Role requirements

• Experience of working in a grant management or project management role for a charity, NGO, private or public entity
• Experience of reporting to private foundations including trusts
• Experience drafting proposals and securing funding from foundations and other funding institutions
• Experience and knowledge of budgeting, and organisational (e.g. not for profit/charity) finances

Role Description

The Programme Manager is a highly-efficient, well-organised, and internationally-respected member of the nuclear policy community.They are expected to be able to take primary ownership of project delivery management as well as lead the development of multiple new projects, including developing ideas leading to successful fundraising.They will have strong knowledge of several methodologies which could be used for new projects and will have a track record of winning funding, as well as some knowledge of funding relationships. 

The Programme Manager will have specialisation in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Regime and will need to have a good general knowledge of global security and conflict resolution, and a demonstrable ability to design and carry out project management and research to a high standard. They are expected to be an internationally recognised researcher with a strong area of specialisation related to nuclear weapons issues, specifically in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty regime. 

The Programme Manager will implement the Non-Proliferation Treaty Monitor (NPT Monitor), a platform that provides independent analysis and information on the effectiveness and implementation of the Treaty by the NPT-recognised nuclear-weapon States. The key objective for the Programme Manager will be to develop this project to a level where the NPT Monitor becomes a permanent and essential fixture of the NPT regime, providing significant analysis on treaty implementation for States Parties (especially smaller delegations), NGOs, and academia. 

The Programme Manager will demonstrate exceptional leadership and vision within the nuclear policy community. They will have a robust track record of policy-relevant publications. A strong network in their area of specialisation is essential, and they are expected to maintain and expand it to benefit BASIC. The Programme Manager will also be responsible for line managing team members across multiple projects, demonstrating exceptional leadership and fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

For the Senior Policy Fellow title, we expect a well-developed professional network, particularly in fundraising relationships; we expect the ability to manage large scale, complex projects with budgets exceeding £400,000/year; and we expect an independently developed vision for the growth and further development of the programme including a fundraising strategy to match this ambition. This role also demands a formal project or programme management qualification, although we are open to discussing the provision of training if this has not already been achieved.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

1. Programme delivery 

Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to:

• Manage project timelines, budgets, and reporting requirements

• Line manage, mentor/coach, and provide pastoral care for the project team: policy fellows, project assistants and interns

• Write high-quality, policy-relevant research reports, op-eds and briefings

• Manage organisation of international roundtables, workshops and other events with track 1 and 2 participants

• Manage relationships with stakeholders and build BASIC’s network and reputation

• Independently represent BASIC at international meetings

2. Fundraising

Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to:

• Build our programmes, by independently and confidently scoping funding opportunities

• Liaise with Programme Director about funding priorities and opportunities

• Manage projects with minimal day-to-day Director-level input.

• Develop new and existing relationships with funders

• Write and edit funding applications

3. Communications

Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to:

• Use online and offline communications skills to promote our / their work

4. Office support

• Educated to Master’s level

• 8-15+ years of work experience in a think tank, research institute, NGO, foundation or government working on international security issues

• Passion and commitment to our organisational mission of promoting dialogue to advance global security

• Demonstrated ability and track record in leading the creative development and delivery of policy projects in the UK or internationally, including budgeting and reporting

• Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders from a variety of professional and cultural backgrounds and with broad variations in seniority and function

• Excellent analytical and methodological skills, and an organised approach to research

• Well-developed interpersonal skills, including evidence of working successfully as part of a team

• Strong track record of previous fundraising experience and success

The RAF Charitable Trust is looking for someone with vision and ambition to lead the organisation. The need for our work is clear. Technology and aviation continue to advance at an unprecedented rate. The IET estimates that the skills shortage in STEM jobs costs the UK economy £1.5bn a year, and there are over 173,000 STEM vacancies. The UK Commission for Employment and Skills stated in 2022 that 43 per cent of STEM vacancies were hard to fill due to a shortage of applicants, leaving tech skills in even higher demand. The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Diversity and Inclusion in STEM also notes significant inequality in high skilled and graduate level roles for those from minority and disadvantaged backgrounds. RIAT’s ongoing success enables RAFCT to be increasingly ambitious regarding its impact through the inspiration of young people: 1. By 2026, RAFCT will have delivered high-quality interventions to over 500,000 young people (measured from 2022).

3. These interventions will either be via:

a. New programmes unique to RAFCT

b. Existing programmes scaled with funding from RAFCT

To achieve this ambition, we are looking for a highly experienced Director to continue the Charity’s trajectory of growth. The successful candidate will work with the RAFCT Chair and Board of Trustees to set, implement, and then assure the delivery of the Trust’s strategy. The Director will lead the Trust’s charity team, and work closely with the Trust’s trading company, RAF Charitable Trust Enterprises Ltd, the RAF, and existing and new delivery partners and charities.

This is a role that requires pragmatism, vision, diplomacy and flexible and creative thinking. The successful candidate will be a strategic and credible leader with strong financial acumen and a successful leadership track record. They will possess an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset, and be able to connect ideas and people. They will have a proven record of collaboration while providing constructive challenge when appropriate, and they will have good experience of measuring impact in a national STEM setting. They will also ensure high operational standards while continuing to promote a transparent, collaborative and values-driven culture within the Charity team.

Founded in 2015, we have an established track record of leading successful partnership projects and working with a wide range of locally based partners in the heart of communities to deliver programmes around being active outdoors, wellbeing and developing new skills. These programmes are primarily around cycling, cycle maintenance, horticulture and life-coaching.

Currently overseen by our Board of 7 dedicated trustees, our 15 fantastic staff and 27 committed volunteers currently work with partner organisations to deliver across a range of projects. R-evolution are budgeting for circa £750k turnover in 2024/2025.

The Role

Key Targets

• Fundraising target of £250,000 funding from new partners.
• Recruitment of 10 new partners to fund Islamic Help programmes.
• Successfully maintain partnerships with organisations, including good partnership care involving field visits, reporting, proposal development etc.

Key Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of the Institutional Funding and Partnership Manager:
• To lead on identification of partnerships in the UK, Europe, Asia and North America.
• Lead in the mapping of potential donors and partners.
• Conduct detailed desk research on potential donors and partners.
• Develop seasonal proposals including Ramadan, Winter, Qurbani and whenever there are emergencies.
• Carry out regular field visits to potential donors/partners to explain our expertise and interests.
• Categorise partners based on their structure, expertise, geographical location, and interest.
• Update database by collecting, recording and uploading information of potential partnerships, to the highest degree of accuracy.
• Support the organisational capacity assessment of potential partnerships.
• Support operational and technical staff as needed in the organisation and facilitate capacity assessments for potential partnerships.
• Participate in the sub-award proposals review and approval process as needed.
• Ensure excellent relations with key partners and put in place systems that maintain them.
• Ensure a high level of co-ordination with partners and other stakeholders to ensure the planning and implementation of projects according to approved proposals.
• Supervise co-ordination with partners to achieve project deliverables.
• Meet donor partners regularly to monitor progress; share lessons learned, experiences, observations, obstacles and to review and update project plans of actions if needed.
• Drafting agreements with donor partners.
• General administrative support within the team and the International Programmes & Partnerships Department.

The role

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will lead the delivery of River Holme Connections’ (RHC) strategy and operations. They will be responsible for all the operational activities and financial management. They will work closely with the Chair and Trustees to ensure the smooth and efficient management of RHC, to lead an innovative, respected and financially sustainable organisation. The CEO will also be the principal external ‘face’ of RHC and is expected to play a leading role in strengthening relationships with partners, supporters and other organisations.

We are looking for an inspiring and dynamic individual with a passion for nature conservation, our river ecosystems and wildlife within the wider landscape and who also has knowledge and appreciation of the charity sector and its ethos. They will have a proven track record of strategic leadership and delivery of complex programmes of work and have the confidence to represent RHC externally at the highest levels. The Executive Assistant to the Chief Development Officer and the Director of Development (EA to CDO and DoD) will provide proactive senior-level support within a busy office and theatre environment.

The EA to CDO and DoD will support the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and the Director of Development (DoD) in delivering their roles efficiently and effectively, focusing on comprehensive inbox and diary management to ensure strategic prioritisation of commitments. They will source and / or draft briefings as needed for donor meetings and events and ensure prompt and sensitive follow-up is carried out.

As an engaged and diplomatic communicator, they would act as first point of contact for all matters relating to the CDO and DoD, working in partnership with colleagues in the Development team, and more widely across the organisation. They will understand the nuances of the external relationships the CDO and DoD hold to enable co-ordination of supporter correspondence on the CDO and DoD’s behalf, ensuring that conversations progress sensitively and at pace.

The role also manages the co-ordination and communication with the Development Board and other fundraising committees.

The successful candidate will have the following: 

• Significant experience in an assistant role, including complex diary management and an understanding of the requirements of interacting with high-level external stakeholders.

• Substantial experience in a dynamic, busy environment, preferably in the fundraising sector

• Excellent written communication skills with a high level of attention to detail.

• Skilled multi-tasker - both independently and within a team - with ability to adjust to varied deadlines and work quickly and accurately to tight deadlines.

• A positive disposition, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal confidently with a wide range of internal and external contacts, including building and maintaining key relationships in a senior space.
