About the Council
The role of Council is to lead on the GOC’s mission to protect the public by upholding high standards in the optical professions. The Council is composed of six lay members (including the Chair) and six registrant members (i.e. registered optometrists and dispensing opticians). At least one member of the Council must work wholly or mainly in each of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. One Council member acts as a Senior Council Member whose role is to carry out the Chair’s appraisal as well as provide a sounding board for the Chair and serve as an intermediary for Council members, Executive and stakeholders as necessary.
The successful candidate will contribute to Council by exercising oversight, ensuring effective corporate governance, and making high-level policy decisions. They will be able to operate strategically and impartially; listen, communicate, and influence effectively; exercise judgment; and inspire confidence and support amongst our stakeholders.
Remuneration and time commitment
Council members are remunerated in accordance with our member fees policy (£13,962 per annum plus reasonable travel and subsistence expenses) which is linked in the candidate pack. The member fee includes time for reading and preparation.
The appointed member will be expected to commit approximately 2-3 days per month. Meetings will usually take place via MS Teams but may on occasion be held at the GOC Offices at 10 Old Bailey, London, EC4M 7NG. There are occasional online catch-up meetings - these are currently scheduled on a Tuesday evening every 6-8 weeks, from 5.30pm – 6.30pm.

This role is an expansion of our employment pathway and will be our first dedicated employment coach for our students.
PiP has developed a unique reputation for our experience and quality of employment support for adults with learning disabilities. This has led to an increased number of referrals with a focus on employment, an expansion of our in-house social enterprise capacity, and more employers keen to work alongside us to diversify their staff base.

Context and Background
The NSPCC is the leading charity focused on preventing child cruelty in the UK. We believe that together, we can stop child abuse and neglect. The NSPCC’s sector- leading press office plays a big part in this work by raising awareness of the organisation’s work to influence politicians, fundraise and provide services for children and their families. This role is to be part of the National Media Team, working closely with a Media Manager, another Senior Media Officer and a Press Office Assistant to promote the NSPCC’s major policy-change campaigns and priorities, predominantly via national print, broadcast and digital media. Key areas of focus will include child protection and children’s social care, child sexual abuse, domestic abuse, online safety, early years, education and children’s experience of the justice system. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a network of contacts within the national media, using these relationships to ensure the NSPCC is at the forefront of coverage related to child abuse and neglect. The Social Media and Content Manager reports into the Senior Digital Manager and is part of the Public Fundraising and Engagement team. You will be responsible for planning and delivering the charity’s social media strategy as well as a busy content calendar, with the purpose of raising awareness, increasing engagement and driving income generation. You will line manage two Social Officers and will collaborate with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including marketing, digital, PR and clinical teams at The Royal Marsden as well as corporate partners.

Job Summary
St John Ambulance is recruiting an experienced communications professional who has a specialism in reputation management, for a six-month, full-time contract.
As Senior Reputation Manager you will play a key role in protecting and enhancing St John’s reputation, proactively identifying, managing and mitigating organisational reputational risk. Being a top-class stakeholder manager and a highly effective influencer, you'll be able to quickly build relationships across a large, complex organisation. You will manage and participate in on-call communications rota, write reactive statements and brief senior leaders on an appropriate course of action.
About You
You will be a senior PR specialist, with demonstrable experience of reputation management in a complex organisation or business. You’ll be happy to hit the ground running and confident working closely with senior internal stakeholders including the CEO.
About the Role
- Responsible for enhancing and protecting the charity’s reputation, advising on the best course of action, assessing risks and briefing senior leaders as appropriate.
- Manage and be part of the out of ours on-call rota, which manages any potential negative media coverage
- Creating proactive statements for any incidents that are arising.

About the Role
Reporting to the Deputy CEO this is an exciting role supporting one of the UK’s leading social investors.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about the work we do, is organised and has excellent attention to detail. Key responsibilities
1. To work closely with the Grants, Investments, and Development, Insight and Advocacy teams to ensure that SIB is well-placed to respond proactively and also reactively to business development opportunities.
2. To support the coordination and project management of existing business development projects in community energy, heating and cooling, social investment fundraising and capacity building.
3. To ensure that information is managed effectively, calls logged and tasks delegated, progressed and completed, feedback collected and meetings scheduled and facilitated across the wider business development team, particularly in relation to the CEO, Deputy CEO and Director of Investments, ensuring their input is sought in a timely way to progress key decisions.
4. To manage a calendar of events, calls and contacts across key areas of business development.
5. To take a lead (where appropriate) and/or work alongside others to create and/or deliver presentations in new and existing business development.
6. To manage (where appropriate) and/or work alongside others maintain long-term relationships with both current and new clients and partners.
7. To monitor tendering opportunities and manage and update the new business development pipeline.
8. To implement new systems to improve the efficiency of the business development processes, alongside business systems.
9. To work with the financial team to build costing models for new proposals and programmes.
10. To coordinate high quality bid responses for invitations to tender from funders, investors and other key client groups, to ensure that these are well-written and professionally presented.
11. To coordinate and contribute to a clear strategy and objectives for the business development function at SIB.
12. To attend relevant events or conferences and to keep up to date with the sector.
13. To adopt our continuous improvement and learning ethos.
