The Foundation Manager will report directly to the COO and act as the general manager of the charity, serving as the central pivot, which all operations revolve around. African Adventures Foundation is a registered charity set up in 2013 to provide support to 29 schools in developing areas of Ghana, Kenya and Zanzibar.

These schools provide education, health and food security, and social support to young people whose access to these basic services would otherwise be very limited. African Adventures Foundation helps by funding food security programmes, the construction of important school facilities, and hygiene projects that will benefit children’s health and education. With your help, we can continue to provide security and opportunities for more children in Africa.

It's an extremely exciting time to join our team as we continue to expand our company. Due to our current growth and expected growth over the coming years, we are in the process of relocating from Eastleigh to new office premises in Whiteley, which are better able to accommodate our expanding team. The role is centred around three core elements: charity management, programme delivery, and fundraising.

Responsibilities

1. Charity management (with support from the COO & Trustees)

• Line management of the Programme Officer in all respects including recruitment, conduct, capability, welfare, personal development.
• Indirect (matrix) management of the in-country Foundation Coordinators.
• Key member of the broader UK Management team.
• Support the COO and Chair of Trustees with the overall Governance framework of the charity including standards, processes and reporting.

• Ensure that a clear, documented process is in place for receiving, triaging, and managing requests related to volunteer projects and charity support.
• Lead the prioritisation process for articulated charitable requests, ensuring appropriate approvals are obtained and properly documented.
• Support strong project management throughout the planning and delivery of approved charitable projects.
• Ensure a robust MEAL [Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning] process is in place for measuring and reporting on the impact of the charity’s work with its beneficiaries, donors, and trustees.

3. Fundraising (with support from the COO & Trustees)

• Responsible for the developing and managing the Fundraising Opportunities Portfolio ensuring all stakeholders have clear visibility of funding gaps and opportunities for current and prospective donors.
• Responsible for leading on developing fundraising activities as informed by the Fundraising Strategy to drive income and cover operational expenditure.
• Maintain strong Donor relationships and develop grant applications adding to support a healthy funding pipeline to ensure we meet the charities fundraising targets.
• Work with the Marketing Manager to ensure effective marketing and social media strategies in are in place and to maximise the opportunities they provide.

What We’re Looking For:

Due to the breadth of this role, we would only expect an incumbent to have relevant experience in 2 of the 3 core elements of the role as a minimum, but with a strong desire to develop and learn in the 3rd with dedicated support.

Community Cleanup Champion

Are you a community-minded person who is self-confident, energetic, reliable and enjoys being outside?   

There are part-time roles available with community litter picking charity CleanupUK, who need help in their mission to engage people in looking after their local environment.   

If you have a few hours a week to spend encouraging local communities and organisations to litter pick, then this could really suit you.    

CleanupUK is recruiting three Community Cleanup Champions to work closely with our partner organisations in one of the following areas, encouraging local litter picking via our Cleanup Hub network: 

• One role covering: Salford and Manchester

• Two roles covering: Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, and Tower Hamlets (Split of boroughs to be decided) 

Cleanup hubs are spaces to store equipment for individuals and groups in the community to use. By hosting this equipment and loaning it out, Cleanup Hubs are championing volunteering in the community and promoting litter picking. 

CleanupUK provides equipment and promotional support to help Cleanup Hubs get started with litter picking and engaging local people.   

Cleanup Champions work closely with Cleanup Hubs and other partner organisations to encourage more people to get involved in litter picking locally. 

We are keen to find cheerful people, with a sense of fun, who care about the environment and enjoy chatting to people of all backgrounds.   

Main Purpose of the Role:   

• To increase the number of people borrowing litter picking equipment from the Cleanup Hubs in your local area. 

• To represent CleanupUK at a local level by attending litter picking events and supporting the development of the Cleanup Hub network.   

• To develop strong relationships with partner organisations in the community: 

• Supporting existing Cleanup Hubs to increase levels of engagement in their area by contacting new groups. 

• Research and develop potential new partner organisations. 

Key Tasks include:   

• Liaising with Cleanup Hubs and local communities.  

• Hosting and attending events and reporting back to CleanpUK’s Operational Team.   

• Helping to keep active records of the litter picking that is taking place. This includes: ensuring litter picking statistics are being logged online by hubs, taking photos for our social media channels, and making notes on our shared database. 

• Promoting the project locally, both on the ground and online.   

• Online research to help us to identify new community partners, and attending online or face to face meetings with new prospective partners. 

• Attending monthly team meetings online, and an annual face to face day-long team meeting. 

• Developing an awareness of local funding opportunities and communicating these to our fundraising team.

• Occasional support to CleanupUK’s corporate partnership team may also be required such as leading a litter picking for a company.

About the Role
In this role, you will be integral to  fundraising efforts, contributing to the growth and sustainability of the organisation mission. Your responsibilities will span donor stewardship, event coordination, data management, and operational support. You’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills while making a tangible impact.

Key Responsibilities

Donor Stewardship & Development:

• Assist with managing relationships with key stakeholders, including Board Directors, Leadership Council, and major donors.
• Help grow the Next Gen cohort (donors giving £2,000-£3,000 annually), creating engaging experiences to foster long term support.
• Contribute to marketing materials, donor reports, and online content to effectively communicate our impact.
• Proactively engage with donors through personalized interactions to enhance retention.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for diverse supporters, delivering an exceptional experience.

Event Coordination:

• Assist in planning and executing flagship fundraising events such as the Annual Gala Dinner and Summer Drinks.
• Organise outreach and cultivation events like salon dinners and webinars to expand engagement.
• Collaborate on the design and delivery of our major online campaigns.

Information Management:

• Maintain accurate donor records in CRM database (Salesforce) and use data to improve engagement and retention.
• Support the finance team with donation and expense reporting.
• Ensure all data processing complies with GDPR regulations.

Finance and Operations:

• Provide logistical support for office operations and meetings.
• Assist with administrative duties, including record keeping and office supply management.

To be successful, you must have experience:

• Ideally work experience in philanthropy or the nonprofit sector.
• Experience in event coordination is a plus.
• Exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn new technologies (Salesforce experience a bonus).
• Highly organised with excellent time management skills.

Salary: £26,000- £28,000 per annum

Managing Director, Home-Start Wandsworth (HSW)

The Role:

The Managing Director sets the vision and strategy for HSW. They lead on income generation and profile raising; working with local stakeholders, building partnerships, and growing funding relationships to achieve that.  Working closely with the Board of Trustees, the MD will set annual objectives alongside long term goals - whilst providing vision and leadership to the team. The role will ensure operational excellence, providing direction & coaching when needed, to deliver innovation, sustainability & compliance. 

The Person:

• We are looking for a passionate, dynamic and empathetic leader who is committed to the Home-Start ethos.

• A track record in income generation, partnership working and team management are essential. 

• The successful candidate will combine collaboration, creativity and resilience, with a proven ability to deliver.

• Experience of leading change and driving sustainability within a small charity would be particularly valuable.

Reports to: 

• Chair, Board of Trustees 

Key Responsibilities:

•  Set the overall strategy, vision and annual objectives for the organisation, alongside the Board of Trustees.
• Be accountable for the overall performance of the organisation and leadership of the team, including guidance and coaching for direct reports.
• Develop and deliver a robust and sustainable funding strategy 
• Develop and deliver the long-term grant funding strategy, leading the bidding process for the organisation. Actively research and build relationships with grant funders to maximise opportunities and success. Write & submit grant applications, working with relevant members of the Team and Trustees. Give strategic direction to the Operations Manager, as required, on progress reporting  to grant funders.
• Develop and drive the community fundraising strategy for the charity working with relevant members of the team and Trustee committee members. Build local partnerships with businesses, schools and churches to increase regular giving. 
• Actively champion and contribute to fundraising events - and generate ideas for new activity. 
• Manage key strategic partnerships, relationships and donors on an ongoing basis to ensure income, volunteer and referral pipelines are maintained to optimise the organisation’s impact. 
• Working with the Operations lead, ensure the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation. 
• Provide regular performance and progress reports to the board as requested  and ensure the charity is compliant with all HSUK policies and procedures. 
• Set and manage the annual operational budget, and ensure the effective management of all HSW resources, IT provision and operational contracts. 

Additional responsibilities: 

• Develop and advocate for the profile of the organisation within the borough and represent it to relevant bodies, including HSUK and HSL, taking an active role in working groups.  Act as an ambassador and embodiment of the organisation’s values. 
• Deliver the annual impact report alongside the Communications Manager. 
• Ensure the completion of all Operational HSUK Quality Assurance assessments.
• Be accountable for safeguarding in the operational team, working closely with the Safeguarding lead, who is responsible for delivery.
• Act as the Data Protection officer for the organisation. 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Management experience of small/medium teams in the voluntary sector. 
• Proven track record of success in charity fundraising and grant application processes. 
• Experience of strategy conceptualisation and delivery- including leading others or working collaboratively to develop strategic & operational plans. 
• Successful experience of stakeholder, network or partnership working.
• Understanding of current legislation and regulatory frameworks for babies, children and families.
• Operational coordination and project management experience.
• Financial understanding & experience of managing budgets >£100,000 (TBC)
• Highly IT literate with a confident understanding of Google applications, and Charity Log, or other database management systems. 
• The ability to manage and address governance, financial, IT and personnel matters swiftly and confidently with little need for supervision. 
• Ability to produce accurate and timely reports.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
• Knowledge of the local area and beneficiaries. 
• A commitment to and understanding of safeguarding, equal opportunities and data protection. 

Location: Pembroke Dock and Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire with home working and travel as required.

Hours: 37 hrs per week

Salary: £44,000 - £50,000 depending on experience and skills

Relocation costs:  up to £5,000

Hybrid working home and office working as required

This role is responsible for ensuring we maximise our restricted funds income in compliance with our funders requirements by allocating funding to grants, compiling and submitting claims and reports to Funders in a timely manner. Working effectively across the King's Trusts Delivery, Finance and Fundraising teams in a proactive manner.
