The Human Rights Fund gives grants to progressive groups and organisations which actively promote and defend human rights and seek transformational change.We don’t fund the fashionable and well-endowed, but rather seek to identify where there is real need and where we can make a genuine difference.We typically fund organisations which may be doing unique or unusual work, often in challenging circumstances.We are sympathetic to new and recently-founded organisations and those which have difficulty in raising funds.We are pro-active and do not accept unsolicited applications for funds (which explains why we do not have a website).
We are looking for someone who is a self-starter, well organised and numerate.You should be well-informed about, and have an understanding of, one or more of the issues which our grant-funding programme addresses, namely:
- Palestinian rights
- Alternative media
- Violence against women and girls
- Social justice
You are likely to have experience in either grant giving, working for an NGO or campaigning. You will research potential grantees, conduct due diligence, monitor grantees (which includes developing good relationships) and review grants.

Experience and Skills
Essential
- Understanding of and commitment to human rights
- Experience with an NGO, charity or campaign, preferably in areas relevant to the Fund’s work
- Well-informed about, and have an understanding of, one or more of our funding tracks – Palestinian rights, alternative media, violence against women and girls, and social justice

MMUK is the largest and longest established National Affiliate in the Mary’s Meals network, currently raising c.£20M to support global school feeding programmes, reaching children living some of the world’s poorest countries. Key responsibilities:
· Collaborate with the MMUK Board of Trustees and MMI to lead the design and execution of an ambitious growth strategy, to ensure the organisation can achieve its mission and stays true to our values.
· In collaboration with our Director of Supporter Engagement & Income, develop and deliver an ambitious fundraising strategy for MMUK, focused on growing our supporter base, developing new partnerships and nurturing existing partnerships with various networks and other grassroots communities.
· Work with our Director of Communications to develop and implement an ambitious media and communications strategy to drive growth.
· Manage, monitor and report on the progress against organisational goals and objectives, in collaboration with our Director of Finance & Operations.

Mellon Educate is an Irish-based African development charity founded by Niall Mellon in 2002. From the enormous collective effort of their volunteers, in conjunction with the South African government, they have built houses for 250,000 homeless people in South Africa’s townships.
In 2013, the charity redoubled its commitments to those less fortunate in Africa, pledging a 10-year education development programme to provide better education to more than 100,000 African children.
Mellon Educate wishes to recruit a Grant Writer on a part-time OR full-time basis with specific experience and a proven track record of success in educational grant applications in Sub-Saharan Africa from medium and large sized international funders, sovereign donors, corporate and philanthropic foundations and institutional donors.
Role Purpose:
This is a brand-new position that has been created to increase Mellon Educate’s capacity to secure grants on a global scale. The Grant Writer will be responsible for identifying suitable funding opportunities and coordinating, preparing and writing funding applications.
The successful candidate will work with colleagues to develop and implement Mellon Educate’s strategic approach to funding against agreed key performance indicators. This role requires an enthusiastic self-starter, with good knowledge of educational grant-writing, exceptional persuasive writing and organisational skills and a good knowledge of the South African education system.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recruit and induct new volunteers to support our services, working with the Services Director and the Training & Outreach Lead. Work with the service managers to review training and update training modules.
-Ensure there is appropriate training, support, supervision and acknowledgement for all volunteers and ensure recruitment and processes comply with the charity’s values & EDI requirements
-Research and write volunteer policies and procedures, including risk assessments.
-Support and recruit volunteer community leaders; work with them to aim for consistent quality across the groups experience and develop an online training programme for leaders, and longer term, put a funding case together to support a training weekend for community leaders.
-Keep records on which community groups are active and identify areas of need and feedback mechanisms.

Summary
- Support lay and ordained practitioner learning networks across the North.

- A market rate salary of £51,577 per annum, plus age-related pension contributions between 8-15% of salary. We will also match any pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of your salary.
- 25 days annual leave (increasing to 30 days within 5 years) plus eight bank holidays and three additional days (pro-rated if working part-time).

About the role
Our ambitious project strategies have enabled us to grow our woodland, grassland, wetland and outreach and engagement work. Armed Forces Lead
The Shed movement is growing and this is an exciting time to join UKMSA as we work to support and promote Sheds for the improvement of health and wellbeing, adding years to life and life to years.
Funded by support from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust’s Embedding Prevention Veterans Suicide (EPVS) programme we - seek a full time Armed Forces Lead to support the creation of new Men’s Sheds nationally, focussed particularly on those soon to leave the Armed Forces, reservists and veterans.
We already have many veterans who are Shedders (people who participate at Men’s Sheds nationwide) and have shared their stories of how much Sheds mean to them and how they have changed their lives for the better. There are several areas across the UK where the concentration of Sheds is relatively low. We are now seeking a rapid growth in the number of Sheds in these areas, targeted at this group, which will have a significant and direct impact on reducing suicide, loneliness and improving wellbeing.
This pilot project will run for 2 years, in which time we expect this role to work with those communities affected to develop a national Armed Forces and Veteran’s Sheds Strategy (including a Veteran's Accreditation Scheme for existing Sheds).
This is an exciting pilot for UKMSA. It will be supported not only by our own organisation, but also by our strong partnerships, including the Royal British Legion (RBL).
Men’s Sheds create community connection, increased social contact, the sharing of skills and a continuation of the camaraderie experienced in the Armed Forces. This role will see you primarily engaging with communities to help others develop new Sheds in a way we know to be effective.
This is a home-based role with frequent travel across the area, with occasional overnight stays and some national meetings. It will require a successful DBS check.

The role is multi-faceted and fast paced and we’re looking for someone with extensive project manager experience, an interest in and knowledge of social care policy and advocacy, and the ability to juggle priorities.
