About the role:
Reports to - Chair of Trustees
Salary - £90,000 - £100,000 per year (pro-rata if part-time)
Contract - Permanent, 0.8FTE to 1.0FTE
Location - London-based with some hybrid work possible. Travel within the UK as required by the role.
Main purpose of the job:
The CEO is responsible for the growth, development and performance of the charity and for shaping and delivering an impactful and sustainable strategy in line with our mission and aims. They will be a key representative of Action Tutoring externally, including working to raise the profile of tutoring as an essential part of school education.
Specific responsibilities relating to the role:
Vision, Strategy and Delivery
- Working with the Board to agree the vision and mission
- Ongoing strategic development and delivery of the short term and long term strategic plans and vision
- Responsible for implementing the agreed strategy Ensuring the necessary organisation, systems and infrastructure are in place to meet the plans

Finance and Fundraising
- Overseeing financial management of the charity
- Lead fund raising alongside Head of Philanthropy to ensure fundraising targets set by the Board are met

Advocacy
- Representing Action Tutoring externally to a range of stakeholders, including school leaders, policy makers, the media and funders, to raise the profile of Action Tutoring and awareness of the cause
- Contributing to government policies, helping to establish tutoring as an essential part of school education
Line Management
- Direct line management of the Senior Leadership Team and the Head of Philanthropy
Governance
- Working collaboratively with the Board to ensure the vision and mission are met and that the board is sufficiently informed to enable the Trustees to discharge their duties
- Ensuring robust and effective governance processes are in place and adhered to Responsible for Strategic Risk Management and reporting on this to the Board
Person specification:
- Proven track record as a CEO or Board-level senior leader, ideally in a non-profit organisation
- Experience in developing and executing strategic plans to achieve organisational vision and mission
- Strong communication and advocacy skills, with extensive experience representing organisations externally to various stakeholders (e.g. school leaders, partners policymakers, funders), and contributing to sector-wide policy discussions
- Understanding of the education sector, and the needs and drivers of stakeholders across the education space
- Commercial mindset, with proven success in fundraising to meet set targets and secure income for ongoing operations
- Experience in growing and evolving organisations to meet ambitious targets and in response to external changes, challenges and opportunities in your operating context
- Experience in an organisation with strong operational service delivery and an understanding of how to ensure quality, efficiency and impact in that context
- Ability to foster a positive working culture, aligned with Action Tutoring’s values
- Strong financial management skills, managing budgets, and ensuring long-term financial sustainability
- Knowledge of governance structures and experience in working closely with a board of trustees, including managing strategic risk

The Co-Director of Strategy & Finance works closely with the Co-Director of Operations to ensure the sustainability, growth and success of Hackney Playbus and to ensure that families are placed at the heart of the charity's work.

The Principal duties and responsibilities will be as follows:
Governance
Ensuring that the charity is legally compliant, compliant with requirements of the Charity Commission and has the correct insurances in place for the charity’s activities and that these are reviewed annually.
Ensure systems are in place for the Board of Trustees to fulfil its statutory responsibilities and exercise effective control of the charity's affairs. Support trustee recruitment in line with Hackney Playbus procedures.
Ensure policies and guidelines are appropriate for the charity’s work and reviewed regularly by the Trustees, including annual reviews of Children’s Safeguarding, Data Protection policies and the Risk Register developing policy proposals as necessary
Report quarterly or as required to the Board of Trustees on progress against key strategic objectives, providing information and explaining performance
Strategic
To work with Trustees to ensure the charity’s vision, mission and strategic plans are reviewed in conjunction with key stakeholders including Hackney Playbus staff, volunteers and families.
To take Joint responsibility for achieving, monitoring and reporting on performance against targets in all areas of charity’s activities taking action as required
To be open to feedback and ideas for innovation and change while delivering consistent and reliable services
To develop a culture of continuous improvement throughout all aspects of the charity's work.
Financial
Ensure that income is maintained, expenditure controlled in line with budgets and potential risks are identified and managed
Draw up an annual budget for approval by Trustees
Liaise with appointed bookkeeper, ensuring timely payment of bills, invoicing for services, chasing of invoices for payment and maintenance of petty cash systems
Prepare contracts, apply for tenders, negotiate and agree contracts, service level agreements and acknowledge receipt of funds as required.
Oversee expenditure and management accounts ensuring that income and expenditure is monitored and reported quarterly to Trustees
Organise independent examination of accounts with appointed accountant
Review and make recommendations to maintain or change arrangements with accountants, bookkeepers and payroll service providers.
Income Generation
Develop income generation strategies to maintain and enhance levels of funding from existing sources and develop new funding streams
Work closely with and provide support to the Fundraising Officer on funding applications to ensure continuous and sufficient income
Work closely with the Co-Director of Operations to ensure that monitoring reports are submitted to funders in line with requirements.
HR
Recruit staff as required
Support and supervise Administration and Fundraising Officers
Ensure HR policies, procedures and staff contracts are relevant and reviewed regularly to ensure they are fit for purpose.
Promotion of Charity
Maintain effective networks with supporters and stakeholders
Network externally and develop partnerships to improve impact and sustainability
Ensure charity is presented in an appropriate and professional manner to its stakeholders including website, social media, annual, impact and reports
Represent the charity in public forums and produce or commission written/digital material for promotion
Asset Management
Overall responsibility for asset management including Playbus vehicles, premises management, IT, utilities and other overheads.
Other Duties
To participate in internal/external meetings and training
To participate in annual appraisal by appointed Trustee from the Boardof Trustees

Global Fund for Children is looking for a Development Officer to join our global Strategic Partnerships Team in an exciting new UK-based role. Your main responsibility will be to help steward our active relationships with donors and supporters around the world, manage delivery of key grant outputs, and build relationships with philanthropic funders and foundations.
This role will require engagement with our global staff team, alongside senior leadership and key stakeholders, and our expansive network of community partners around the world. You’ll help to develop strategies that build our relationships with key donors, ensuring all our reporting output is of a consistently high quality. This role will have a truly global reach with a primary focus on supporting programming and donor relationships for our work in the UK, Europe and Africa.
You will be passionate about maintaining the quality and performance of all our outputs to donors and supporters, and have a track record of being highly organized, an ability to manage multiple priorities and an ability to work to a deadline, to ensure we achieve our ambitious goals and objectives.
You will be just one part of a growing and extremely ambitious and successful Development, Marketing and Communications (DMC) team based in the UK, US, and around the world. You will play an important part in the successful implementation of projects with our staff team based in more than 20 countries globally – including colleagues from Programs, Finance, Learning & Evaluation, and Safeguarding.
What will you be doing?
• Manage the global calendar of donor deliverables for the Development team
• Consistently create and deliver compelling reports and other donor deliverables, according to our grant agreements, including collecting data, writing content, reviewing financial information, and ensuring compliance details.
• Work collaboratively across the Development team, engaging with key stakeholders, to deliver on strategic goals and KPIs.
• Liaise with Program and Finance colleagues to share grant requirements and reporting expectations, build reports and deliver high -quality stewardship items.
• Work alongside the team to keep an accurate record of donor relationships in Salesforce, including stakeholder information, notes from meetings, reporting and submission deadlines, and correspondence with donor staff
• Build and develop new relationships with prospective foundation donors and foundation fundraising strategy in collaboration with Senior Manager and Vice President for Strategic Partnerships
• Represent the organisation, both internally and externally where opportunities arise, including donor visits, public events, and partner convenings
• Keep abreast and keep the wider team updated of best practices and trends in the philanthropy sector, scoping out strategic opportunities to help us engage new prospective donors

What are your experience and skills?

• Outstanding organizational skills, including ability to plan, prioritize and manage a varied workload to meet deadlines

Salary – UK-based salary range for this role will be £40,000 - £45,000, depending on experience
Weekly hours – 35 hours per week.
Holidays – 30 days annual leave and 8 public holidays. The basic annual leave allowance increases to 35 days after 4 years of continuous employment.

Summary
This role sits within the Research and Operations Team in the Philanthropy and Partnerships Department. We are seeking an operational and people focussed Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our Executive Team. The successful candidate will have held broad finance and operations positions, with a track record of interacting at Board level and presenting clear financial and management information. You will have experience in implementing new and/or successful improvements to existing systems and processes, with a track record of driving organisational change. The post holder will have a good understanding of regulation and best practice alongside the ability to develop efficient processes and controls in line with our governance framework. Ensuring that people are at the centre of the Florence Nightingale Foundation (FNF) you will play a key role within the Executive team supporting the charity to achieve sustainable growth and delivery of efficient and effective services ensuring plans are developed and implemented, and targets are met.

What you’ll do
- Identify, cultivate and manage relationships with a pipeline of donors and prospects
- Deliver pipeline activity and income targets
- Secure and deliver a high volume of donor/prospect in-person touchpoints, involving Parkinson’s UK senior leadership in key relationships
- Deliver first-class stewardship by maximising engagement opportunities within our stewardship programme
- Manage the day-to-day activity of our fundraising board and secure new gifts through their networks
- Work with our Nurse Appeal senior volunteer donors to build your pipeline
- Lead on prospecting projects, collaborating with the prospect research and wider colleagues across the charity
What you’ll bring
- Demonstrable experience of successful major donor fundraising
- A strong track record of building successful relationships with major donors through one-to-one meetings, phone calls, communications, events and bespoke cultivation
- Excellent verbal presentation and persuasive writing skills
- The confidence to influence, negotiate and inspire stakeholders at all levels both internally and externally
- Ability to work autonomously and manage a diverse workload with appropriate time management, planning and prioritisation
- Ability to proactively identify, qualify and generate new prospects
- Interest in learning about Parkinson’s UK’s strategy and developing an understanding and empathy with the Parkinson’s community

The role

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
· Drive engagement, increase visibility, improve our course sales and fundraising targets
· Manage our national and localised digital awareness campaigns from development stage to presenting results and assessment of impact
· Manage and optimise our website and landing pages for improved user experience and conversion rates
· Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in digital marketing
· Help develop social media engagement strategies with our social media officer
· Coordinate email marketing campaigns, including audience segmentation, content creation, and performance analysis
· Conduct audience and market research to identify new opportunities and target audiences

We are seeking a Project Research Officer to join our small team to work on a new project, which examines the use of data and powers by HMRC in addressing offshore tax compliance.

WHO ARE WE: TaxWatch is the UK’s only charity dedicated to compliance and sound administration of the law in the field of taxation. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working with the Director and existing Research Analyst to conduct a research project examining the ways in which HMRC addresses offshore compliance, with a focus on its use of information and existing enforcement powers, identifying areas where compliance could be improved.
Develop and undertake the research project within specified timescales, from inception to delivery, in collaboration with the wider TaxWatch team, driving the project forward, providing updates on progress the Director and Trustees. This will involve:
· Identifying key stakeholders relevant to the project, developing and building relationships, conducting interviews, gaining insight from their knowledge and experiences and identifying areas for further investigation.
· Requesting and analysing information from HMRC.
· Analysing both qualitative and quantitative data to identify key findings and making policy and procedural recommendations based on the findings.
· Producing high quality written work, including long form written reports based on the research undertaken.
· Liaising with other organisations, journalists, politicians and government bodies to publicise the findings of the report.
· A limited amount of administrative tasks that support the running of the project including documentation of research findings and tracking Freedom of Information requests on team systems.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
ESSENTIAL:
· Critical thinking and a curious mindset, particularly seeking out and analysing data, from both qualitative and quantitative sources.
· Strong writing capability. TaxWatch is an organisation that places a high priority on concise and effective written style. Research must be clear, accurate and to the point.
· Ability to work remotely while working co-operatively with wider team. Organised and logical in approach.
· Self motivated. Able to successfully manage own time, work, and hit deadlines.
· Comfortable with statistics, and explaining complex issues to non-specialist audiences.
· Confident communicator and able to express their thoughts clearly, representing TaxWatch credibly to external stakeholders.

· A good understanding of offshore tax compliance and how HMRC currently addresses it.
· Knowledge of the current legislation pertaining to the taxation of offshore income and gains, and the enforcement powers held by HMRC.
· Recent employment or work experience in HMRC with either Fraud Investigation Service (FIS) or Risk & Intelligence Service (RIS).
