About the role
We are looking for someone who has a passion for working with data, and providing business intelligence that leads to action. If you love creating simple ways to explain complex data, and are excited by revealing the stories hidden within the data, then this could be the role for you.
Your main focus will be to provide reporting and research for our fundraising and marketing initiatives, helping to create a clear view of our marketing directorate performance. You will work closely with colleagues and key stakeholders to understand business intelligence requirements, scope out projects and deliver reporting to agreed specifications.
You will work closely with colleagues to ensure that reporting is used and a data-driven culture established. The outputs from your work will lead to insight that supports strategy development, and future investment decisions. Some projects will focus on other areas of organisational data, such as measuring our impact, or our financial model, as required.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have proven experience in analysing data and producing reporting, ideally using some advanced techniques for data extraction and manipulation (such as SQL) and a modern data visualisation tool (such as Power BI or Tableau). Full training will be provided, to enable the postholder to develop into a fully rounded data analyst, including training in the maintenance and development of our in-house data warehouse.
About you
We are looking for a pro-active self starter, who has a passion for working with data and a hunger to learn. You will be patient and methodical in your work, and be able to focus both on the technical aspects of data analysis and reporting, and also understand the strategic thinking that your work will contribute to.
You’ll be great at building relationships with stakeholders, and be comfortable in communicating complex information through a variety of means.
Your work will help to ensure that we maximise efficiency in our fundraising programmes, and as such you’ll be comfortable challenging the status quo, and making suggestions for how we might change, as we look to continuously improve.
Key Working Relationships
The successful candidate will work closely with all colleagues from within the Marketing Directorate, IT, Finance, Fundraising, and potentially all areas of Practical Action here there may be reporting needs.
External relationships with consultants/agencies, and third party software suppliers.
Accountabilities:
- To contribute towards the development and production of a large and complex portfolio of reports, produced by the Data and Insight Team.
- To work closely with colleagues to embed reporting into day-to-day work, encouraging a data-driven and evidence-based approach to decision making.
- To work with the Senior Data Services Analyst, Data and Insight Manager and IT, to develop our data structures and architecture, enabling a robust data model and real-time reporting.
- Develop our use of Power BI, our data visualisation tool of choice, keeping up to date with latest reporting technologies and proposing changes and enhancements to such software where appropriate.
- To work with colleagues across the marketing directorate and wider Organisation to understand business intelligence requirements, scope out projects and deliver reporting to agreed specifications, presenting complex information through a variety of means.
- To work with marketing audience strategists and the Data and Insight Manager in the commissioning and production of research, and contribute to statistical modelling projects.
- To propose and pro-actively undertaking supporter analysis with the aim of promoting efficiencies and value for money within fundraising campaigns.
- Play a key role in strategic projects, as required, acting as a subject matter expert for data, covering a range of topics, such as supporter journey mapping, process documentation / re-design, software implementation to name just a few.
- Conducting marketing data selections, to provide fundraising colleagues with carefully curated data which will power marketing campaigns.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
Essential

- Advanced use of MS Excel (pivot tables, IF and VLOOKUP).
- Working knowledge of GDPR and data protection and fundraising regulations and compliance.
Desirable
- An understanding of data warehousing techniques.
- Expert user of MS Excel (PowerPivot / data model, VBA, statistical techniques)
- Working knowledge of SQL (basic SELECT statements, JOINS and GROUPING data, Common Table Expressions (CTEs), Partitions, Aggregate Functions).
- Experienced using a statistical analysis package such as SPSS and a working knowledge of statistical techniques such as CHAID and logistic regression.
- Knowledge of fundraising, and market research techniques and methodologies.
- Experience of producing reporting within Power BI.
- Experience of working with The Raiser’s Edge.

About The Role
This is an exciting time to join African Adventures. With significant growth plans over the next few years, the Programmes Officer will oversee the planning, development and delivery of our core charitable programmes. They will work closely with our in-country teams to ensure we are directing funding to the right places in the communities we work with, and provide vital reporting information to help facilitate this. Primary Responsibilities
- Working closely with our in-country teams, manage the delivery of our current programmes such as ‘Food Security’ and the ‘Good Period programme’.
- Gather data and provide regular accurate reporting and updates to the Fundraising Manager.
- Liaise with our in-country teams to determine work required in our partner schools and gather quotations for this work.
- Ensure all volunteer work is appropriate for the nature of the group and costed accordingly.
- Be responsible for keeping the partner schools area of internal systems up to date (i.e. school information, planned work, wish-lists etc.)
- Provide on-going support and bring new ideas for the expansion of our programmes.
- Manage the planning and execution of larger one-off projects, such as WASH.
- Be the link between our in-country teams and our UK teams to ensure cohesion and programme goal alignment.
- Keep all African Adventures staff up to date with progress at our partner schools via email/internal newsletters, weekly team meetings, and occasional team training sessions.

Position
Hope for Justice has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic Finance Manager to join our global Finance team. In this role, the Finance Manager will provide support on the reporting of all entities within the Hope for Justice group (including African entities) for management & statutory accounts and will provide oversight and control of grants globally from bids through to monitoring spend and financial reporting both internally and to donors. Main Duties:
- Maintain the Consolidated Accounts (in Microsoft Dynamics Business Centre) of all entities within Hope for Justice group, (including Retrak entities) and work with the local country teams to ensure timely and accurate monthly reporting.
- Work with Director of Finance to further embed and enhance the new ledger systems within MDBC. In addition to helping reshape the finance processes and procedures.
- Maintain the granular level data on each grant, monitoring spend against restricted funds and communicating available spends/completion of spends.
- Support the income generating teams with Donor Financial Reports, ensuring data is provided in adequate time and in the required format, as per each bid requirement.
- Understand and uphold the standards outlined in the Hope for Justice Safeguarding policies, acting with due care and attention to safeguard the wellbeing of anyone that comes into contact with our work and reporting concerns if they do arise.

About the role:
This is a critical role to provide information and insights about the performance of the charity and to inform decisions about our future work.
You must maintain the performance data system for Crimestoppers, liaising with all departments regularly to collect, format and present a wide range of information for both internal and external use.
You must analyse business data, including that from crime reporting, to present useful insights which can support decision making and future plans.
You must contribute to the charity’s data strategy and propose improvements to the data systems and work with suppliers to develop tools to support the use of our data. Key responsibilities of our Data Manager:
Data / Intelligence analysis
- Produce monthly performance reports including outcomes from Crimestoppers contact centre and impact feedback from police on arrests and other policing activity.
- Through research in our database (holding crime information reports sent to police and others) provide campaign statistics and research, including examples of redacted reports for Regional Managers, Communications and Business Growth and Fundraising (BG&F).
- Conduct analysis and present changes and/or trends to inform relationships with police forces, and the charity’s campaigns/community work.
- Produce Monthly Management Information reports for Business Growth and Fundraising clients and Home Office, and other reports relating to performance and disseminations as needed. This includes quarterly reports to support Regional Manager funding. • Look for opportunities to improve data processing and analytics, working with data scientists and suppliers as needed to implement.
- Support other departments to use ‘self serve’ tools to access data, including making sure they comply with data governance.
- Work with Information Security Manager to make sure data held confidentially, is processed to ensure its integrity and available to those that need it.

The Role

About the role
Based within the Fundraising Team, this role is responsible for providing exceptional supporter care to our donors and fundraisers, ensuring accurate record keeping and reporting, and supporting various income streams for the charity including individual giving and community fundraising.
