We are seeking an experienced Direct Marketing Manager to join us for up to 12 months (maternity cover). You will lead the detailed planning and delivery of membership acquisition campaigns.
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate experience of planning and delivering mass-market income generation campaigns using direct and unaddressed mail, email and paid social media. You will also need to manage tracking and ROI reporting for your campaigns.
You will work as part of a very small direct marketing team with tight deadlines and approval processes.

Essential skills, knowledge, and experience:

Role Purpose:

As The Dash Charity Development Officer, you will be responsible for seeking funding from trusts and foundations, to enable us to deliver life changing services and projects.

The Head of Philanthropy & Partnerships leads a team which inspires support and develops and sustains relationships with businesses, major donors, trusts and foundations and some statutory funders to help deliver the strategic ambitions of the charity. SUMMARY
This maternity cover role will be responsible for the Lab's internal workings - people, culture, ways of working and operations. As an Executive level role, it will share overall responsibility for the Lab’s impact with the other members of the Exec (CEO, COO, Director of Programmes and Campaigns).
The role will be specifically responsible for:
- the people function, including team days, our annual retreat, and internal communications, as well as Human Resource management and our staff handbook),
- programme support, including stewardship of our Monitoring, Evaluation, learning and Planning system),
- coordinating the team’s fundraising work, and
- managing other areas of our operations, such as IT and infrastructure, including our new CRM system.
- The post-holder will be responsible for line managing the Operations Manager.
The post-holder will work closely with the COO, who will be leading on finance and governance. Together, they will be responsible for drafting the plan for the Lab’s Operations function in 2026.
This post is a 13 month fixed term contract, running from mid-May 2025 to mid-June 2026.
LOCATION
The team work remotely for the majority of the time, but as this role is responsible for people and culture ideally you will be able to attend monthly ‘team together days’ in London (travel paid if outside of London area) as well as an annual two-night retreat elsewhere in the UK in November. However, we don’t want this to be a barrier to applicants, so you can let us know at the interview stage if this would not be possible or will cause you challenges.
RESPONSIBILITIES
People: Ensure we recruit, retain, support and nourish a strong staff team and maintain a culture that reflects our values of ambition, collaboration and empowerment.
- Lead implementation of the Lab’s people and human resources strategy (together with the COO), in line with our core values, to maximise the team’s contribution to our mission (including team structure and roles, recruitment, onboarding and retention, staff handbook, and professional development).
- Develop and hold our team culture (together with the COO), aligned to the Lab’s core values, and ensure that the organisation maintains an effective, efficient and human working environment. - Lead internal communications, ensuring that the team are informed about and involved in new developments as appropriate, including planning and coordinating team away days through the year.
- Support effective management of staff: Line manage the Operations Manager. Support Heads of Programme and others to develop and manage staff and freelancers, ensuring that we treat all our people fairly and responsibly.
Operations: Oversee effective systems and support colleagues who manage those systems.
- Oversee and support the Operations Manager to ensure that our core processes run smoothly; we have the infrastructure to support our growth, including office space and IT, and supplies; and that they are able to effectively support the programme team with reports, events and other projects.
- Oversee the Lab’s fundraising process, including identifying and researching potential new funders, maintaining our overview of our fundraising pipeline, funder timelines, monthly priorities, and record keeping. Support the Lab team to manage funding proposals and coordinate the development of funding proposal budgets, working closely with programme leads. Ensure funding reporting requirements are met, including supporting programme leads to draft programme reports, and the Finance Manager to prepare financial reports.
- Coordinate and oversee the Lab’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Planning system ensuring the team have what they need to complete the various elements, meet deadlines, and get the most out of the process. [RSS1]
- Ensure high standards of information management across the organisation, enabling staff to share and access resources, insights and know-how. This includes maintaining high standards of data protection and privacy that embody the Lab’s commitment to responsible use of data, and maintaining the Lab’s new CRM system.
Executive Team support: you will be a collaborative and engaged member of a strong executive team.
- Lead and manage organisational development projects to ensure that the Lab has effective, appropriate operational policies and processes, and that staff understand and implement these policies and processes.
- Be a collaborative, engaged and supportive colleague and be willing to take on or change responsibilities to help the organisation operate effectively, including offering general support to the other members of the Exec as needed.

We are looking for a Senior Programme Officer who will contribute to the effective design and delivery of CBM UK’s development and humanitarian programmes, excellent donor, country team and partners relationships, collecting and applying learning and evidence of impact, and effective collaboration with the fundraising, communications and advocacy functions of the organisation.
Key responsibilities
Within twelve months, the Senior Programme Officer will:
· Be managing a portfolio of projects effectively and efficiently;
· Be a confident user of CBM’s systems for project knowledge management, human resources and operations;
· Have developed strong working relationships with colleagues, partners and donors.
Oversee a portfolio of projects
· Work with the relevant Country Team(s) and partners to ensure delivery of quality projects, to budget, and within appropriate time periods
· Monitor progress on project activities and expenditure against budget, including monitoring visits to the projects (usually on an annual basis)
· Liaise with the donor, where applicable, ensuring that their requirements are met, and negotiating adjustments to grants when needed
· Lead on the production of donor reports, narrative and financial, as well as risk registers, results frameworks, MEAL plans and asset registers, as required
· Lead after action reviews on closing projects, and help ensure that lessons learned are disseminated and applied in future programming
· Collect evidence of impact of the projects
· Carry out due diligence on partner organisations
· Provide support to partners, including organisational strengthening, championing, facilitating links and spotting opportunities.
Support to the Programmes team
· Provide support to inclusion advisory projects on contracting, compliance and administrative tasks.
Cross-Team Collaboration
· Carry out joint actions with colleagues from the fundraising and communications team, including providing information and data from programmes, providing support for their visits to projects, and drafting articles and social media posts on the projects.
· Coordinate with the Supporter Care team, providing assistance in responding to enquiries from supporters and the public
· Joint actions with the Advocacy team, including writing up evidence from projects
· Provide support to the Programme Funding team on proposal development and associated activities, such as reviewing partner assessments and collecting information for compliance requirements
· Give support to Country Teams, as appropriate, including facilitating training, providing input to Country Strategic Plans, and attending Country Coordination Forums
· Participate in CBM Global secretariat activities, including representing CBM UK on working groups and focal point groups, participating in the regular organisation-wide webinars and sitting on recruitment panels when requested
· Represent CBM UK in sector-wide initiatives, such as BOND and the International Disability and Development Consortium.

Job Purpose
Contribute to the implementation of the University of Glasgow’s fundraising and alumni engagement strategies by building compelling propositions and identifying, cultivating and soliciting prospective donors with capacity to give from £10K to £1M, meeting targets for activity and revenue.
Main Duties
1. Contribute to the development and execution of the University’s fundraising strategy and particularly for the programme to secure gifts of between £10K and £1M. Assist in the development of the complex action plans to deliver the strategy.
2. Keep abreast of developments in leading major gift cultivation and solicitation practice to ensure all work is subject to continuous improvement.
3. Lead the development of relationships with key alumni and other potential donors by managing a pool of potential donors. Devise and execute bespoke programmes of involvement and communication that lead to major gifts (e.g involvement in alumni programmes, invitations to prestigious/intimate University events, devising visits to campus and individual meetings with academic staff and University leadership).
4. Both solo, and with other staff, use professional expertise to deliver a programme of proactively meeting with potential donors to understand their interests and motivations, set them on a path to major gift support and solicit gifts in person (mostly five, but also six and seven figure gifts). The post-holder will need to represent the interests of the entire University in developing these relationships from research and teaching to widening participation, entrepreneurship and civic programmes. Conduct a target number of face-to-face meetings per annum.
5. In collaboration with academic colleagues, articulate convincingly the University’s priority themes and projects for philanthropic support. Develop powerful case statements, project descriptions and tailored proposals for presentation to potential major donors. Liaise with beneficiary areas to ensure the object of any proposal is properly costed and can be delivered.
6. Drawing on specialist knowledge, provide advice to prospective major donors (whether proactively engaged or approaching the University independently) on how to structure and best effect their giving intentions.
7. Negotiate gift agreements, managing donor and academic expectations to balance the donor’s intent with priorities and capacity of the beneficiary area to deliver and ensuring this is communicated appropriately to donors.
8. Using detailed knowledge, use the University’s alumni and donor database (Raiser’s Edge), to ensure relationships with potential donors are recorded and tracked so a complete record of the relationship is maintained. Analyse progress and provide relevant reports on activity.
9. Build and share thorough understanding of University priority projects for philanthropic support. The postholder may be required to become the expert on a particular project, School, College or beneficiary area and to brief fundraising and other colleagues appropriately.
10. Provide specialist advice to academic and other colleagues on individual potential donor relationships, on fundraising and alumni/donor engagement generally and on its operation at the University of Glasgow.
11. Be prepared to undertake projects appropriate to the grade of the role – including line management - but that might fall outside its direct remit as the Director, Head of Philanthropy and/or Vice Principal External Relations may advise.
