Purpose of Post
The Membership and Events Lead will play a pivotal role in our membership programme and the events calendar that supports our membership offering. Working alongside the Membership and Events Manager the post holder will deliver the membership engagement strategy, help to recruit and retain new members and work on AAUK events.
Key events include the Annual Conference and Awards of Excellence, All Party Parliamentary Group Air Ambulance Reception and attendance at sector specific exhibitions. The current membership portfolio includes local air ambulance charities, air ambulance suppliers and other key stakeholders who support the air ambulance community.
Key Responsibilities
Events
· In collaboration with the Membership and Events Manager and the wider team, work towards the successful delivery of a calendar of events, taking ownership and accountability of any assigned events.
· Help to develop the sponsorship pipeline for key events in collaboration with other key members of the Income Generation team to ensure all opportunities for sponsorship are maximised.
· Conduct research and planning for UK events, covering areas such as venues, suppliers, routes and risk assessments.
· Assist with the management of finances for assigned events, negotiating best rates with suppliers, placing orders and processing invoices.
· Lead on selected events and work effectively with colleagues on project groups to deliver successful events. Prepare event briefs and support with marketing materials.
· Project management of other AAUK events and attendance at other relevant stakeholder events.
· Acting as a point of contact for when required to attend stakeholder events.
Membership
· Serve as the primary point of contact for active members and prospects, building and nurturing long-lasting relationships.
· Create and manage a membership pipeline. Steward, and pitch to prospective new members from this pipeline.
· Effectively promote membership benefits and ensure they are utilised across the membership.
· To assist in the running of AAUK knowledge sharing and networking forums.
Members Hub
· Produce and manage engaging content for members on the AAUK Membership Hub.
Other
· Be flexible and carry out any other associated duties that may arise, develop, or be assigned.
· Report and present to the AAUK Board when necessary.
· Support and promote diversity and equality of opportunity in the workplace.
· Comply with legal requirements for income generation general activities including GDPR, The Fundraising Code of Practice and others.

What you will be doing?
The Forward Trust is predominately funded through Government contracts, but our Fundraising team plays a vital, and increasingly important, role in securing funding to support essential activities that go beyond these contracts. We raise £2.3 million per year from a diverse range of sources including events, trusts and foundations, corporate supporters, and individual donors.
Around a third of our workforce are in active recovery and/or have had experience of the criminal justice system. We also have the support of thousands of people who have benefited from our services. That means that we can easily evidence the long-lasting impact of our work.
Events have long been a core part of Forward Trust strategy. Although sitting within the Fundraising Team, this role will have an organisational-wide remit.
You will be delivering events which generate charitable income, steward our donors and supporters, and raise awareness of our work and our cause. Events include (but are not limited to) challenge events, community events, ‘special events’, campaign focused events, and major donor events.
What we are looking for?
As a Senior Events Officer, you will possess the following skills -
- Experience of delivering a wide range of events (including income generating and at least one other)
- Understanding of databases in relation to fundraising (experience of using Salesforce is desirable)
- Understanding the principles of donor engagement, stewardship and cultivation
Experience of Microsoft Office packages - Good understanding of the use of social media to promote and recruit for events
- Experience of sticking to budgets and tracking and reporting on income and expenditure for events
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to explain and summarise complex issues

Key Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recruit and induct new volunteers to support our services, working with the Services Director and the Training & Outreach Lead. Work with the service managers to review training and update training modules.
-Ensure there is appropriate training, support, supervision and acknowledgement for all volunteers and ensure recruitment and processes comply with the charity’s values & EDI requirements
-Research and write volunteer policies and procedures, including risk assessments.
-Support and recruit volunteer community leaders; work with them to aim for consistent quality across the groups experience and develop an online training programme for leaders, and longer term, put a funding case together to support a training weekend for community leaders.
-Keep records on which community groups are active and identify areas of need and feedback mechanisms.
-Work with Content & Communications Lead to produce regular mailings for volunteers and recruitment drives and promote volunteering through recruitment and publicity strategies and campaigns.
-Keep up to date with legislation and policy related to volunteering and make any necessary modifications to accommodate changes.
-Maintain the database of volunteers + ensure all volunteers are registered members.
-Manage budgets and resources, including the reimbursement of volunteer expenses.

Mellon Educate wishes to recruit a Grant Writer on a part-time OR full-time basis with specific experience and a proven track record of success in educational grant applications in Sub-Saharan Africa from medium and large sized international funders, sovereign donors, corporate and philanthropic foundations and institutional donors.
Role Purpose:
This is a brand-new position that has been created to increase Mellon Educate’s capacity to secure grants on a global scale. The Grant Writer will be responsible for identifying suitable funding opportunities and coordinating, preparing and writing funding applications.
The successful candidate will work with colleagues to develop and implement Mellon Educate’s strategic approach to funding against agreed key performance indicators.
