JOB PURPOSE

We are looking for a Philanthropy Manager who is passionate about high value fundraising, relishes the challenge of growing a pipeline and is motivated by UNHCR’s work.

You will join our small but talented Philanthropy Team playing a key part in identifying and bringing on board new, prospective donors, as well as growing relationships and income from donors already supporting UK for UNHCR.

You will work closely with the Head of Philanthropy, CEO, trustees and international colleagues to steward and cultivate donor relationships, and to inspire and engage new supporters. An experienced fundraiser, you will provide strategic insight into how we grow and improve our programme. 

You will be confident in navigating complex environments with multiple stakeholders and in negotiating internally as well as externally. You will enjoy developing strong relationships, have excellent communication and problem-solving skills and will be adept at managing prospect pipelines and crafting compelling donor communications.

United Kingdom for UNHCR is the United Nations Refugee Agency’s national charity partner for the United Kingdom. We generate public awareness of the plight of refugees and raise funds to help protect them through UNHCR’s humanitarian operations across the world.

ROLE RESPONSIBLITIES

• Grow prospect pipeline and the number of donors donating £10K+ to UNHCR’s work. 
• Grow UK for UNHCR’s sustainable income by growing the number of multi-year donors funding our programmes outside of emergencies. 
• Work with the wider international organisation to identify the most appropriate funding propositions for donors. 
• Craft compelling propositions and proposals for major donors and ensure quality and timely reporting back on gifts made. 
• Work closely with the IG team to manage the transition of mid-value donors to the major donor programme. 
• Engage existing and selected prospect major donors in the event of humanitarian emergencies. 
• Work independently and with the prospect researcher to gather up-to-date and accurate information on existing and prospect major donors and to develop network maps. 
• Maintain accurate records, including Salesforce and UK for UNHCR’s databases for income recording and earmarking. 
• Working with the wider team to contribute to the delivery of bespoke philanthropy activities such as roundtables and webinars. 
• Help to position and raise awareness of UK for UNHCR’s role among peers, donors and other audiences by participating in sector networks and representing UK for UNHCR at events. 
• Work within UK for UNHCR’s due diligence policy and processes. 

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE
 
Essential Experience 

• Experience of working in an income generating capacity with an NGO or INGO to identify, approach, secure and steward major donors giving or capable of giving over five to six-figure gifts. 
• Experience of developing donor care plans and delivering bespoke proposals and  communications to generate income. 
• Experience of managing and growing a prospect pipeline. 
• Experience of working with trustees, CEO and senior stakeholders to build donor relationships. 

Essential Skills/Knowledge 

• Skilled at building and maintaining excellent relationships with donors and prospective supporters. 
• Ability to analyse reports and communicate complex themes and subjects in an accessible and compelling manner in writing and verbally. 
• Good understanding and knowledge of current philanthropic fundraising trends, environment and eco-system in the UK. 
• Ability to act proactively to identify new prospects and fundraising opportunities. 
• Confident and proactive networker. 
• Ability to confidently negotiate internally and externally. 
• Ability to juggle and prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines within a collaborative team environment. 
• Good attention to detail, ability to proof-read. 
• Able to demonstrate flexibility, with a willingness to respond quickly, particularly at times of humanitarian crisis. 
• Solutions focused and able to use own initiative. 
• Excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills. 
• Proficient in using Word, Excel, PowerPoint and working knowledge of fundraising databases. 

Desirable Skills/Experience 

• Experience of working in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. 
• Experience of working on faith-based giving. 
• Experience of working on a multi-year fundraising campaign. 
• Knowledge of international development or related subjects helpful but not essential.

About this job

In this role you will be providing emotional support and information to people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS) that empowers them to; live to their full potential, take an active role in their treatment and secure the care and support they need. As part of the helpline team you will also contribute to the overall implementation of the teams objectives and successfully embedding new services.

Our helpline is open 9am – 7pm and therefore this role includes working a shift pattern of 9-5, 10-6, 11-7 or as the service demands.

Please note this is a fixed term 12-months maternity cover contract. This role is full time, part-time hours (28 hours +) will be considered.

About this job

We’re seeking a skilled Purchase Ledger with a passion for accuracy and efficiency to manage the processing and payment of invoices, credit notes, expenses, and other payments through our purchase ledger system. In this vital role, you’ll handle a high volume of transactions using Compleat purchase ordering software and our accounting system (currently Dynamics GP, likely to transition to Microsoft Business Central soon).

You’ll be responsible for ensuring all invoices and expenses are legitimate, accurately matched, and approved in line with our policies and procedures. Acting as the primary contact for suppliers, (including managing the accounts payable mailbox) you’ll ensure that all queries are dealt with promptly and efficiently and that the turnaround between receipt and payment of invoices is in line with what has been agreed with the supplier. You’ll ensure payments are processed on time and prepare bulk BACS payment runs, reconcile supplier statements, and assist with verifying supplier details.

If you have experience in purchase ledger management, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, we’d love to hear from you.

Content & Social Media Officer

Our five-year strategy has growth at its heart and we’re looking for an exceptional person to join our team as Content and Social Media Officer and be a vital part of this exciting phase of our development.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications and sitting within the Marketing and Communications team you will play a key role in the development and implementation of our awareness and acquisition marketing activities, creating and delivering multi-format  and multi-channel content that helps us attract and acquire volunteers, fundraisers, donors, referrers and supporters through digital channels, specifically search, email and social media.

Key responsibilities

• Content creation and management
• Develop engaging, multi-format content (e.g., webpages, video, graphics, social media posts) that build awareness and increase engagement
• Manage and maintain a content calendar aligned with key marketing and campaign objectives
• Ensure all content reflects the Re-engage brand identity, voice, tone, and style

 
Social media planning and management

• Create and execute campaigns across organic and paid social media channels to reach target audiences
• Monitor, analyse, and report on the performance of social media content to optimise engagement and reach

Digital user journey design

• Map out and implement digital user journeys that guide supporters through digital engagement pathways, ensuring alignment with our priority area of stewardship
• Test and optimise user flows to improve engagement and conversion rates

Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO)

• Develop and execute a CRO experiment roadmap
• Use data and insights to inform adjustments to our digital content, digital lead generation and stewardship campaigns

Collaboration and stakeholder management

• Work closely with colleagues to plan and align messaging across campaigns and platforms.
• Partner with internal teams such as Engagement and Service Delivery, to ensure our campaigns meet organisational needs

Project and campaign coordination

• Manage multiple campaigns and content projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery
• Maintain a structured approach to campaign planning and execution, meeting deadlines and priorities

Performance analysis and reporting

Track the performance of content and campaigns, using analytics to evaluate success and identify improvement areas
Prepare and present performance insights to the Head of Marketing and Communications and key stakeholders
You may be required to undertake other duties that fall within the nature of the role and responsibilities of the post. There may be occasional out of hours work required.

Relevant experience

• 2+ years’ experience in social media and/or content marketing – agency side would be of significant benefit

The role

The welfare rights adviser & triage officer will report to the welfare rights supervisor.

Welfare and benefits casework (approximately 50% of the role) and Triage officer (approximately 50% of the role).

In this role, you will triage all referrals we get into the Support hub and take a small number on as casework.

You will be supporting people affected by long term health issues with financial challenges, supporting with benefit and housing advice, and referring on for further support where appropriate. 

The team

The support hub department is here to support people affected by long term health conditions (patients and carers), to help them with the practicalities of living with a chronic condition; to improve wellbeing and quality of life. 

We are here to transform patient experience and staff experience and change lives for the better.

We aim to play our part in addressing inequalities in health, through supporting with the wider determinants of health (e.g., finances, housing); areas which can have a direct impact on someone’s health outcomes and recovery. Through doing this, we support the NHS and Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust staff, stepping in where they may not have the time or expertise.

Principal accountabilities / responsibilities: -

Welfare and benefits casework (approximately 50% of the role) and Triage officer (approximately 50% of the role)

Triaging:

· To provide an efficient and effective system to support referrals and enquiries into the support hub welfare rights advice service.

· To assess eligibility of referrals and enquiries, according to set criteria

· To triage referrals into the service (usually patients referred from Royal Free Hospital clinicians), assessing individual situation and level of need).

· Offering one-off advice based on circumstance, providing accurate, up to date information

· To provide advice and support on welfare benefits, housing matters (that do not require a solicitor), and non-FCA regulated debts.

· To check whether clients are in receipt of all the benefits they are entitled to and help them claim relevant benefits.

· To help clients understand benefit decisions and challenge them (where appropriate) by way of mandatory reconsiderations and appeals.

· To help clients ensure they keep to their responsibilities in respect of their benefit claims, for example by notifying any relevant changes of circumstances.

· To refer or signpost clients to other agencies or departments as appropriate, e.g., housing solicitors; community care cases involving social services and NHS duties, FCA-regulated debt and immigration services.

· To signpost or refer to other services that might be valuable to a client such as condition specific charities, mental health support, or offerings in the local community that would improve their health and wellbeing.

About this job

This role will coordinate our Breathing Space project in Wales, which supports unpaid carers who support people living with MS to access short breaks. We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced individual who loves working on short-term funded projects and who also loves working directly with the people we support and our volunteers. This is a part-time (21 hours) fixed-term role until 28th November 2025 with the possibility of an extension to March 2026.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role.
