Believe: Positive Destinations Project Co-ordinator

Would you like to be involved in this new opportunity to support young people in Swansea develop the skills needed for the world of work?

Believe: Positive Destinations is a 12 week work readiness programme for young people aged 16 to 25.  The programme, part funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, has been developed specifically for young people who have little or no experience of the world of work. It is a holistic programme, it will support them to develop workplace skills, build their aspirations, increase self-confidence as well as providing them with strategies to manage their wellbeing. 

As the Project Co-ordinator you will assist the CSM with the development of this new service. This will include building a network of work placement providers and referral sources. You will be the main contact for placement providers and will provide direct support to participants to ensure they are achieving their potential. You will be responsible for delivering the programme to cohorts of up to 8 participants.

What does the job role involve:

• Promotion of the service at networking events and online.
• Establish a network of appropriate placement providers throughout Swansea and be the main contact for placement supervisors for the duration of the placement.
• Establish links with organisations who will be referring into the service, this will include Education, Leaving Care and NEET services.
• Delivery of a 12 week work readiness programme to cohorts of up to 8 participants including the delivery of Agored Cymru accredited units.
• Supporting young people to achieve their development goals.
• Responsibility for gathering and collating relevant data and contribution to report writing as per the request of the service manager and the commissioner of service.
• Tracking service user progress through the use of outcomes scoring over the duration of the programme and after exit, using a young person centred approach.
• Provide advice and guidance to PW1s in manager's absence.
• Standard service operating hours will be 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 4.30pm Friday, however the role requires some flexibility around hours as we support young people around their needs.

Essential criteria

• Self-motivated and highly organised.
• Experience of working with young people aged 16 to 25 years in a one to one and group work context.
• Experience of working with young people who are NEET (not engaged in education, employment or training) in a relevant setting.
• Experience of delivering group work programmes.
• Assistance in the development of a service.
• Experience of keeping statistics and writing reports.
• Ability to network and establish strong positive working relationships with partner organisations.
• Experience of mentoring or taking on a leadership role.
• Desire to work towards positive outcomes for young people.
• Good ICT and presentation skills.
• Ability to travel to meet the requirements of the post.

• Ability to speak and write in Welsh

You will provide leadership and stability to the Adult Carers staff team, by line managing, coaching and supporting employees to create a happy, productive work environment. You will work within the Adult Carers team to deliver an engaging, accessible range of peer support groups, social activities and one to one support, working to targets and budget, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to funders.

This role requires you to work collaboratively with carers and professionals to meet carers’ needs and shape the service, building and maintaining strong partnerships to do so. You will support our wider organisational objectives and help out with events, communications and other ad hoc work.

We're looking for an Income Officer to support the fundraising team at the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association by processing income accurately, maintaining data integrity, and providing excellent supporter care. This role is key to ensuring we can continue to deliver and grow our work.

Key Responsibilities:

As Income Officer, you'll play an important part in ensuring all income is accurately processed and allocated, while maintaining high standards of supporter care.

• Process income from various channels using the Raiser's Edge database, ensuring accuracy and consistency
• Allocate restricted income in line with supporter requests
• Build and maintain positive relationships with supporters to understand their giving intentions
• Respond to telephone, email and written queries, including complex cases, with professionalism and care
• Oversee regular giving from over 7,000 supporters via Direct Debit, Standing Order and Payroll Giving
• Manage data across multiple systems including Access databases, ensuring data integrity and accuracy
• Conduct Gift Aid audit checks before HMRC submission, supporting income generation of approx. £1 million annually
• Ensure compliance with Data Protection, HMRC and audit requirements when handling sensitive supporter data
• Contribute to process improvements by identifying and helping implement innovative solutions
• Collaborate with teams across the organisation to support shared goals and effective ways of working

About You:

You'll be an organised and detail-focused Income Officer with strong technical and communication skills.

Fundraising:

• Conduct research on potential funding opportunities and grant applications 

• Assist with the development and implementation of fundraising campaigns

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

This full-time role is currently based at Tusk’s office in Gillingham, Dorset, but will shortly relocate to Tisbury, a village between Gillingham and Salisbury on the mainline from London Waterloo. Candidates based elsewhere, particularly along the corridor between Salisbury, Andover, Basingstoke, Winchester, Woking, Guildford, and Greater London, are strongly encouraged to apply. Royal Trinity Hospice (Trinity) is the UK’s oldest hospice and serves a community of 950,000 in central and southwest London. Trinity delivers specialist end of life and palliative care at the Hospice and in the community as well as support and counselling services for family and friends.

We are looking for a driven Individual Giving Executive to deliver creative direct marketing campaigns across print and digital platforms. You will be instrumental in expanding our supporter base, increasing income, and delivering exceptional donor experiences.

You will collaborate with colleagues across the Fundraising team, Comms and Marketing, as well as external agencies.

PURPOSE OF THIS ROLE

Over recent years, SBP has grown from a fledgling charity to an established and impactful organisation with an annual budget of over £1m in restricted and unrestricted funds. 

Our existing Head of Finance, who has been with us through part of this journey, is shortly due to retire and will be replaced by this Head of Finance & HR role, with strategic and operational ownership of SBP’s finances, as well as responsibility of SBP’s HR policy and processes.

KEY LIAISONS

The Head of Finance & HR will report to SBP’s CEO and sit on SBP’s Management Team, comprising the CEO and other heads of functions. 

The role will manage our Finance & HR Officer and work closely with other members of the home-based SBP team, including colleagues in Fundraising leading on income generation.

The role will also communicate regularly with SBP’s Treasurer and the wider Board of Trustees to support their understanding of the charity’s financial and HR management.

Where required, the role will also have contact with SBP’s partners, suppliers and other external contacts in the course of managing the charity’s financial agreements and transactions.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational ownership of SBP’s finances, including:

• Control and management of SBP’s bank accounts and financial system (Xero).

• Responsibility for SBP’s financial transactions, payments and payroll.

• Responsibility for external claims/reporting, including Gift Aid claims and VAT returns.

• Responsibility for SBP’s financial processes, controls and policies.

• Line management and development of the Finance & HR Officer to support in the above. 

Strategic ownership and governance of SBP’s finances, including:

• Management and delivery of our annual budget and the budgeting/re-forecasting process, with input from the wider team.

• Management and delivery of our annual accounts and audit, in conjunction with an external accountant/auditor.

• Monthly financial reporting to the Management Team.

• Quarterly financial reporting to the Board of Trustees.

• Financial planning for the organisation, taking into account trends in spending and income, and planned growth of our activities.

• Assessment and communication of financial risks to the Management Team and Board of Trustees.

Financial advice and support to the wider SBP team, including:

• Providing financial information to feed into fundraising applications.

• Providing advice on VAT/financial risk in relation to new products, partnerships and agreements.

• Advising on budget creation and management for projects, commissions and operational areas.

Human resources policy and processes:

• Responsibility for SBP’s human resource processes, controls and policies.

• Oversight of contracting and on-boarding of new employees.

• Oversight of holiday management and storage of key documents/information using our HR system, Breathe. 

• Line management and development of the Finance & HR Officer to support in the above. 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), or equivalent level of knowledge/experience.

• Experience of reporting, budgeting, payroll and other finance processes at an operational and strategic level.

• Experience in a charitable organisation, or good working knowledge of the unique aspects of charity finance, including management of restricted and unrestricted funds.

• Experience of taking ownership of either a finance function or a discreet finance area, along with the responsibility for its accurate management and efficient running.

• Experience of presenting and explaining financial information to individuals and groups with varying levels of financial understanding.

• Experience of HR management policy and process.

• Experience of working with Xero, or proven ability to get up to speed quickly with new financial systems.

KEY SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES

• Comfortable working in a small organisational setting, without the support of a wider, multi-level finance and HR structure/team.

• Excellent organisational, time management and prioritisation skills, with the flexibility to respond to changing needs in a dynamic working environment.

• Ability to communicate confidently with a wide range of people and build positive
  relationships with colleagues, partners and stakeholders.

• Desire and ability to stay up to date with financial and HR governance law and requirements as they relate to charities.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Salary: £24,000-27,000 per annum on 0.6 FTE hours (pro-rated from £40,000-45,000 FTE), depending on experience. Salaries are paid in arrears on the last working day of each month by bank transfer.

Hours: Working hours are flexible, but must equate to a minimum of 22.5 working hours (0.6 FTE) per week, Monday to Friday. Note that the full-time working week at SBP is 37.5 hours. The nature of the post may from time to time require evening and weekend work. Paid overtime is not available, but time off in lieu will be given. 

Place of work: This role is home-based within Scotland and will require a suitable home office working environment (SBP can provide a laptop and support additional equipment needs). Attendance of meetings and events in other parts of Scotland will also be required periodically, with travel expenses paid in accordance with SBP’s Expenses Policy. 

Contract: Permanent.

Flexibility: Subject to ensuring that the needs of the charity and the role are met, SBP endeavours to meet the flexible working needs of its employees. 

Holidays: 16.8 days on 0.6 FTE hours (pro-rated from our FTE allowance of 28 days) including public holidays, plus 5 additional office closure days between Christmas and New Year. 

Pensions: You may be eligible to be enrolled into SBP’s employee pension scheme. Written terms of the scheme are available on request. 

Probationary period: 6 months.

You will be responsible for the management of a portfolio of legacy cases where the charity is named as a beneficiary; work with external solicitors and lay executors to ensure that gifts are received in a timely fashion and that all internal and external procedures and legislation is adhered to; promote pragmatic solutions and refer appropriate matters to the Senior Legacy Manager to ensure all reputational risks are proactively managed.

We are recruiting for Floating Support Worker who will support the Ascent Pan London Service in building sustainable referral pathways and joint working protocols with a range of partners working with survivors of domestic abuse

You will provide capacity-building in the form of advice, advocacy, support, and briefings across the London boroughs to statutory agencies and community organizations around the needs of Eastern European domestic abuse survivors, to embed best practice across our communities. 

It is desirable for candidates to be proficient in one or more Eastern European languages.

You will have proven experience of providing direct emotional and practical support to women as well as up-to-date knowledge of legislation relating to survivors of gender-based violence. You will have excellent casework skills, good written and verbal communication skills, clear professional boundaries and be a proactive team player. All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the feminist values of empowerment and equality which underpin all of our work. 

The post holder will provide a high-quality personal welfare support service to Eastern European survivors of domestic abuse and other forms of violence and abuse and their children. The post holder will empower Eastern European survivors by providing them with emotional and practical support, including support to access safe accommodation.

ARC Blackburn (ARC), an established local charity, has recently been commissioned by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council to deliver an asylum seeker integration programme for newly arrived asylum seekers in the borough. The purpose of the role is to work with new and existing partner organisations as well as existing staff, volunteers, and service users to deliver the programme.

This role requires an experienced individual who will encourage clients’ engagement in the community by welcoming, supporting, signposting, running social activities, connecting communities and supporting organisations, organising events and trips, and engaging with clients who require additional social engagement support. The Partnerships and Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for measuring the impact and outcomes of all small activities and events using surveys, questionnaires and focus groups.

The other strand to the coordinator role will be to support local asylum seeker and refugee support hubs in the delivery of both formal and informal learning of English and Digital skills.  Enabling access to these learning opportunities is vital to our clients’ resettlement and integration in the UK and local environment.

To be successful in the role, you will have relevant experience in community engagement and/or building partnerships in the charity sector. You will have proven experience in delivering activities and events that focus on community connection and co-creation, thus improving community integration and reducing social isolation.  You will need to have excellent communication skills and be able to motivate and inspire diverse groups of people. You must also have excellent IT skills, with the ability to report on quantitative and qualitative data. Experience of using a case management system is preferred.

Fluency in an additional language would be beneficial. The post will be based in Blackburn, Lancashire, but with frequent visits to other locations in Blackburn and Darwen.
