About the Team:
The Supporter Operations Team plays a central role in delivering an exceptional supporter experience, ensuring smooth internal and external fulfilment to maximise supporter engagement in order to meet our ambitious targets.
This role sits within the Supporter Operations sub-team, reporting into the Supporter Operations Manager. The Supporter Operations Team plays a central role in supporting our fundraising teams, to maximise supporter engagement and ensure that the fulfilment of our fundraising appeals, donor thanking and donation processes are carried out correctly and in compliance with all relevant regulations

About the Role:

In this role, you will manage the team’s workload, forecasting expected capacity to ensure that daily, weekly and monthly tasks are planned out and completed in accordance with set KPIs. As well as supporting the Supporter Operations Manager in monitoring & evaluating the performance of the Operations team using reports to investigate any unusual results/trends. 

You’ll also: 

• Bring to the role a keen understanding of supporter response handling, the intricacies of processing donations, Direct Debits, Gift Aid, and communication preferences
• Assist with due diligence processes within the wider SEO team, specifically focusing on internal data security practices, response handling accuracy, and adherence to relevant regulatory requirements such as those for Gift Aid or the BACS scheme for Direct Debits 
• Proactively identify processes for improvement across the Supporter Experience & Operations Team to deliver efficiencies and improve the effectiveness of internal procedures 

• Support campaign managers and other colleagues with any new or existing projects relating to fundraising operations, working closely with internal stakeholders, ensuring requirements are clear and fully documented

• Knowledge of the rules and regulations of Gift Aid, Direct Debit, Data protection and PCI-DSS compliance 
• Strong team player. Proven experience and/ or evidence of providing support/supervision/ training to team members
• Experience of documenting business processes, and comfortable with communicating and influencing a range of stakeholders
• Experience of income processing and donor response handling
• Excellent IT skills (use of Microsoft products, particularly Excel) with ability to analyse data accurately
• High attention to detail with ability to work methodically, ensuring minimal errors, and able to problem solve should errors arise 
• Ability to analyse fundraiser requirements, and capable of providing the best fulfilment solution working with internal stakeholders
• Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to listen, understand, analyse and resolve queries of a technical nature (incl. complex queries). Demonstrate an innovative approach to problem solving with the ability to implement robust solutions, taking into account future requirements
• Excellent time management skills. Proven ability to manage & prioritise own workload, conflicting tasks/ deadlines effectively and successfully

Job Context:

Working within a well-established charity, providing essential services for vulnerable individuals in an 87 bed hostel setting. Their mission is to empower young people by offering them the resources, skills, and opportunities to create a brighter future. At the heart of their work is the provision of accommodation and holistic support services to young people aged 16 to 35 who are facing homelessness.

The housing project operates 24/7, offering temporary accommodation for single young people facing a range of challenges, including issues related to mental health, substance misuse, domestic violence, and previous offending. Working in close collaboration with external agencies to provide a comprehensive support system that addresses not only housing needs but also the broader, holistic needs of our residents.

Job Purpose:

The Housing Options Officer will provide direct support to vulnerable young people, assisting them in moving toward independent living. This involves offering high-quality advice and guidance on housing options, benefits, budgeting, and life skills, all within a psychologically informed environment. The role requires collaboration with various external agencies to ensure that the diverse needs of the residents are met.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Housing Needs:

• Conduct interviews, assessments, and move-ins for potential residents in a timely manner, ensuring thorough inductions for new residents.
• Develop outcome-focused support plans and conduct needs and risk assessments.
• Provide benefit advice and guidance to residents, helping them maintain their accommodation and prevent rent arrears.
• Work closely with external agencies to address the wider needs of the residents, including Floating Support, Housing Services, and more.
• Ensure incidents and complaints are reported and managed in accordance with organizational policies.
• Actively source and manage move-on opportunities for residents, coordinating with housing providers as necessary.

Support Needs:

• Provide a welcoming environment for new residents, supporting them with life skills, social behaviour management, and access to other services.
• Manage financial aspects, including budgeting and benefit claims, and collaborate with the Income team to address any rent arrears.
• Address any anti-social behaviour issues and take appropriate action in accordance with policies.

Health and Safety:

• Support residents in understanding and adhering to health and safety policies, including security and safeguarding procedures.
• Ensure all incidents related to safety and security are appropriately managed and reported.

General:

• Serve as a shift lead when required, managing daily tasks and resident movements, and handling emergencies such as fire alarms.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with external agencies to benefit the support needs of the residents.

Income Maximisation:

• Work proactively with residents to minimize rent arrears and manage rental income, ensuring that all targets are met in line with organizational policies.

Regulatory Standards and Compliance:

• Ensure all residents can influence service delivery and comply with regulatory standards.

Data Protection:

• Maintain the confidentiality and integrity of residents' personal data, ensuring compliance with GDPR regulations.

Other:

• Provide cover at other locations as needed for holiday or sickness within the housing department.
• Stay up to date with current housing legislation and welfare benefits.
• Attend training and development activities, including occasional overnight stays.

BACKGROUND

The Helen Bamber Foundation (HBF) is a specialist UK charity which provides expert care and support survivors of torture, trafficking and other extreme human cruelty. We work with hundreds of clients every year from all over the world.

The expertise of the Foundation is renowned in the field. Through the Model of Integrated Care, HBF offers survivors access to an individually tailored programme of specialist therapy, medical advisory services, legal protection including providing expert medico-legal documentation as part of the MLR Service, welfare and housing support, and creative and skills activities within an integration programme. Survivors of human trafficking benefit from HBF’s counter-trafficking programme of support.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

HBF is seeking an experienced and dynamic lawyer for an interim period to give direction to the Legal Protection, Medico-Legal and Client Services of the Foundation. This role is crucial for advancing the rights and protection of our clients, many of whom are vulnerable individuals seeking asylum or are survivors of trafficking. We do not provide legal representation directly to our clients, instead we act as a support team to our clients and their legal representation by providing second tier advice.  The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, ensure the highest standards of legal protection, and contribute to the overall mission of the Foundation including developing relationships that promote HBF’s expertise and reputation. This role requires exceptional people management and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead a team, foster collaboration, and articulate complex legal issues clearly to both internal and external stakeholders.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for Advocates to join our team covering Fife and the surrounding area. You will be involved in one-to-one advocacy along with group work across the area; this could be in a clients’ home, hospital, care homes or other suitable community venues and be home based for administrative tasks.  Therefore, access to your own transportation and a suitable home internet connection is essential.
