Salary: Circa £75,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Location: Hybrid working blending home working with our locations in Chelsea or Harefield Hospital, with a minimum of 40% time spent in the office.

This pivotal role within our charity ensures the effective management of our grant programmes, designs new programmes and initiatives, and determines funding needs to maximise our impact. Reporting directly to our CEO, the Director of Programmes & Funding works closely with internal and external stakeholders, including trustees, hospital partners, and other health funders. You will play a crucial role in developing and aligning our funding strategies with our mission to advance care for those affected by heart and lung diseases.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Funding & Programme development: Lead the design and development of funding programmes, working with hospital partners and external funders to identify and create new funding opportunities that align with our strategic goals and meet the needs of heart and lung patients.

• Senior Leadership Contribution: Provide leadership across the charity, contributing to organisational development, decision-making, and supporting the CEO in leading the charity’s strategic direction.

• Team Management: Lead the Grants team, overseeing the planning and management of workloads, and ensuring high standards of support and development within the team.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with trustees and hospital leadership, representing the charity in external meetings, and supporting the CEO in organisational leadership.

• Programme Oversight: Manage the charity’s grant processes, including strategic planning, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation, to ensure impactful and efficient funding.

• Governance & Compliance: Oversee risk management in relation to funding, and ensure our grant schemes are compliant with charity law, governance standards, public sector financial guidance, and our aim to achieve membership of the Association of Medical Research Charities

Summary of What We’re Looking For:

• Substantial experience in leading programmes and funding functions, within a relevant not-for-profit setting (eg hospital or healthcare charity).

• Proven ability in managing and reporting the impact of charitable programmes to senior stakeholders and boards / committees.

• Deep understanding of the healthcare context, including political context, research and innovation environments, partnered with an understanding of the charity landscape.

• Strong strategic thinking with excellent leadership skills and experience in managing and developing others.

• Educated to at least degree level in a relevant field (such as biomedical science) or equivalent relevant work experience.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and synthesise technical medical information to specialists and non-specialists.

The ideal candidate will hold an advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in biomedical sciences or a related field, complemented by proven experience in enhancing Programme and Funding operations within a relevant organisation. They would also demonstrate a track record of contributing to organisational strategy.

The Group Finance Director holds a key role in the executive team in the Foundation Office of the Charity.  They are accountable for all matters relating to the UWGCF Charity finance, including the oversight of school income, endowment investments, loans, subsidiary companies, VAT, and the leadership of the Foundation finance team.  To succeed in the job, the post holder needs to build effective working relationships with independent school bursars and finance teams and link effectively with the Business managers in the state funded academies.

The UWGCF is a complex organisation, and the post holder will need to demonstrate a high level of communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to build effective and supportive working relationships with other and be prepared to engage fully in the work of the Foundation. This may mean working outside of normal working hours but most importantly means communicating and work with colleagues as part of the team.

Initially they will report to the Chair of Trustees, although following a Governance Review and further work on Foundation Strategy, the Trustees may appoint a Foundation CEO.  In the meantime the Foundation Office is led by a joint executive comprising three executives: Director of Governance and Operations, Director of HR, and Director of Finance.

The Head of Programmes is a critical role for the organisation, responsible for ensuring DEC funded programmes meet programmatic standards, are fully traceable, routinely monitored and comply with organisational procedures and institutional donors’ requirements. In addition, the Head of Programmes is also appointed as the Serious Incident Reporting (SIR) Officer, serving as the first point of contact for member agencies to report incidents regarding safeguarding, financial misconduct and reputational risk.

Externally, the Head of Programmes liaises with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office Senior Response Officers, UN OCHA, Charity Commission, Emergency Appeals Alliance, Member Agencies including Humanitarian Directors and in-country colleagues.

Key responsibilities:

Communication and Collaboration

• Key point of contact with member colleagues regarding programmes finance, adaptive programming and DEC compliance, facilitating timely and accurate communication.
• Contribute to DEC functional and advisory groups, Board sub-committee meetings and Board meetings including participation in Humanitarian Directors meetings.
• As a key point of contact with FCDO SROs, develop and maintain a positive and collaborative relationship, and ensure timely delivery of all UK Aid Match MOU obligations.
• Strengthen and maintain colleagues understanding of DEC’s ways of working both internally and externally (DEC HQ members, in-country colleagues and local partners and key stakeholders).

Analysis and Reporting

• Provide oversight to the review and analysis of member charity appeal budget plans and financial reports with a focus on compliance with DEC policies and good practice guidelines to assess unusual variances and value for money considerations.
• Deliver and contribute to timely and high-quality infographics, reports and briefings for key stakeholders and institutional donors including Board of Trustees, FCDO and BBC.
• Manage & maintain investment in public transparency and demonstrate DEC’s contribution to the humanitarian sector, including reporting to IATI and UN OCHA Financial Tracking Service (FTS).
• Continuously develop, improve and manage DEC’s Knowledge Information Management systems (KIM), as user-friendly collaborating platforms that enhance learning and enable data analysis, visualisation and high-quality reporting.
• Collect, analyse and present accurate and timely data to help inform a rapid assessment of appeal Criteria 2 for both rapid onset and evolving protracted crises and contribute to the development of the Case for Appeal.

 Management and Leadership

• Holistic and flexible approach to any given scenario/context, whilst ensuring a robust process is followed, recorded and documented.
• Deputise for the Director of Humanitarian Programmes and Accountabilit
• Effectively line manage and provide leadership to Grant Managers and Programme Officers, contributing to the high performance of the Programmes & Accountability team.
• Manage the Appeal Surge Roster (external consultants) including overseeing recruitment and necessary training.
• As Serious Incident Reporting Officer, manage processes and support with onward reporting to key stakeholders including FCDO and Charity Commission.
• Manage service providers as required.

About this key role

As our Financial Wellbeing Coach, you will provide person-centred support to a caseload of service users who will either be serving community sentences or have been released from prison.  This will involve undertaking assessment and action planning with individual service users and creating a safe and trusting environment, using trauma-informed practice to successfully facilitate a supportive and constructive relationship with service users. 

We will also count on you to deliver a range of interventions to service users which contribute towards the achievement of prescribed outcomes, including group work sessions, and to work with service users flexibly, meeting and undertaking interventions in a range of locations across a wide geographical area.  Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with external agencies and working towards contractual targets and outcomes within agreed timescales and in line with specified quality standards are also vital aspects of the role.

What we are looking for

• Experience of engaging successfully with challenging people, e.g., those with complex and multiple needs

• Proven record of working with partner agencies

• Evidence of training at specialist level in money and/or welfare benefits advice 

• Higher level certificate in money and/or welfare benefit advice from accreditation 

• The ability to assess clients’ needs and provide tailored, client-led support 

• Able to work sensitively with clients applying trauma informed strategies

• Welsh Language and a full driver’s licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.

• Excellent interpersonal, relationship building and communication skills, both verbal and written

• Welsh speaker desirable

The Person​

The Role​

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our finance team on a 12 month fixed-term contract, working 3 days per week. £42,000 - £45,000 FTE, (£25,200 - £27,000 pro rata)

You will be responsible for preparing monthly management accounts, producing statutory financial reports, and supporting a variety of finance projects aimed at improving processes and controls. This is a hands-on role, requiring a strong knowledge of charity accounting standards (SORP, FRS102) and advanced Excel skills.

• Professional Qualification: ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
• Charity Accounting Knowledge: Experience with Charity SORP and FRS102 regulations
• Advanced Excel Skills: Expertise in pivot tables, formulas, and financial modelling

Job Purpose:

The Energy Programme Manager will provide strategic and technical leadership in the delivery and development of the SHA Energy programme in Malawi. They will be expected to oversee the implementation of SHA’s existing portfolio of Energy projects in Malawi, provide technical input to the team and sector in Malawi, continue to develop programme approaches based on evolving best practice and the changing landscape, and mobilise resources for continued growth of the programme. 

The position will report to the Malawi Deputy Country Director- Programmes and there will be regular meetings between the Energy Programme Manager, other Programme Managers and Management Team in Malawi and technical advisors from SHA’s Global Office. The role will also involve capacity building of national staff in Malawi to take increased ownership of the programme and enable its continued growth. The Energy Programme Manager will leverage their technical and contextualised knowledge to provide expert advice and advocacy to Malawi’s energy sector (particularly in the areas of cleaner cooking, carbon finance and off-grid electrification) and maintain the programme’s close and productive relationships with its donors and stakeholders to expand the reach, sustainability and impact of our work.

Key Responsibilities:

1.Programme Management and Oversight

1.1 Quality Assurance

• Ensure the programme portfolio is delivered in line with good practice and quality benchmarks in line with sector-based standard operating standards and GESI tools etc
• Ensure an adaptive management approach is taken
• Work with the Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Working Group through National MEAL Manager to ensure that we are documenting learning and integrating it into programme design and delivery.
• Ensure MEAL data collected is in line with national MEAL framework through participatory M&E approaches and integrating feedback from staff, partners and project participants.
• Liaise with relevant organisation technical advisors and incorporate learning and global expertise in the programme cycle
• Ensure value for money and efficiency across the programme cycle
• Conduct field visits to monitor project progress.

1.2 Compliance & Risk

•  Oversee the development and timely submission of high-quality donor technical and financial reports, in collaboration with projects and operations colleagues
• Ensure that processes are in place to allow for systematic and inclusive feedback to communities and stakeholders on all programme reports and evaluations undertaken
• Working with Project Managers to ensure all projects develop annual, quarterly and monthly plans and that these are actioned and reported against
• Deliver a consolidated risk assessment for the programme portfolio every month and ensure mitigation measures are actioned and followed
• Ensure that internal audit is adequately budgeted across the portfolio
• Ensure that internal audit findings and recommendations are followed up on and actioned as per agreed timelines
• Ensure that every project in the portfolio has a grant opening and closing meeting and that these are filed
• Ensure that every project has monthly review process
• Ensure adequate oversight on all financial transactions and project activities to reduce the risk of non-compliance with policies and risk of fraud
• Ensure annual procurement planning and that all project procurement is cost effective in line with donor and organisational policy

1.3 Finance

• Oversee internal monthly financial reports and project budgets and cashflow forecasts
• Ensure full project spend without disallowance
• Authorise all project related expenditure in line with SHAs Delegation of Authority framework
• Support and oversee project related procurements.

1.4 Safeguarding

• Ensure that all projects have an active trained safeguarding focal point who can effectively disseminate the reporting channels and policy
• Ensure that all project have a safeguarding plan and report against this during monthly meetings
• Ensure that reporting channels are promoted and visible across all projects in the portfolio
• Ensure that all colleagues within your portfolio have undergone safeguarding training and signed the global code of conduct
• Ensure all staff, partners and stakeholders sign, comply and promote the SHA Safeguarding policy and code of conduct.

1.5 People Management

• Manage teams of staff across all projects in your portfolio and provide line management to Project Managers
• Incubate and enhance skills development of staff across the programme, encouraging learning and development, identifying opportunities for professional development and upward mobility within the organisation
• Ensure all staff members in your portfolio have completed an induction, have passed probation and that annual PDRs are conducted

• Keep abreast of new funding opportunities and oversee the development of high-quality proposals for existing and new funders based on organisational learning. Diversify funding sources and secure funding for existing and new areas of focus in line with the CP strategy including carbon finance and impact investment.

3. Partnership, Representation and Advocacy

• Act as a thought leader in the energy sector in Malawi providing technical support and strategic direction to a wide range of stakeholders across private and public sectors, and civil society.
• Support the National Cookstove Steering Committee (NCSC) as a key member of the coordination group for which SHA is the secretariat. This includes leading the organisation of the annual Cleaner Cooking Conference and quarterly coordination group meetings.
• Maintain, strengthen and build networks and alliances at national level with government, academia, donors and local organisations
• Maintain, strengthen and build partnerships with companies and entrepreneurs to augment the programme’s reach and sustainability of impacts through market-based approaches.
• Ensure active engagement of the programme at district level with all relevant government structures
• Act as the primary focal point for all donors that fund the programme portfolio
• Liaise with Government of Malawi counterparts (national and district) and ensure we are visible and working in line with Government needs and priorities
• Represent SHA at workshops and conferences, ensuring our organisation and work is visible

• Degree level qualification in energy, development, environment or other relevant discipline (post-graduate preferred)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

 Primary Function

Support the Programmes Director with design, planning, delivery and reporting of current and future Action4Youth Programmes and initiatives. The Programmes Manager will line manage specific programme teams, will have responsibility for working within a set budget and will be a key link with partner organisations ensuring best practice and efficient programme delivery. They will be responsible for monitoring contractual KPI’s and take the lead on reporting and impact measurement of specific programmes.

You will also be required to assist with delivery and the on call rota for the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme during peak times. Other programmes may be added in future as Action4Youth develops new initiatives based on the needs of the young people we work with. This role will focus on each or any of these as required within Action4Youth’s overall senior team.

The Programmes Manager will directly line manage the Programmes Leader, The Junction Centre Manager and The Inspiration Programme Manager.

Programme Specific duties and responsibilities:

The Junction Youth Centre 

The Junction is a multi service youth centre based in High Wycombe town centre, it is open 7 days a week from 4-9pm. The Junction is for young people aged 12-18 years (up to 25 with SEND) and is funded entirely from Grants and Trusts. The service offers a variety of sessions ranging from a general youth space, health and wellbeing, cooking and 1:1 mentoring.

The Programmes Manager will be expected to work at The Junction one day a week from 2- 9pm and will work with the Centre Manager to ensure the smooth running of the service. You will oversee contractual KPI’s and lead on reporting. This role will include being part of an on-call rota during evening and weekends.

The Inspiration programme

The Inspiration programme is an Action4Youth initiative that aims to broaden horizons and raise aspirations of young people. The programme takes place in schools across Bucks, Milton Keynes and surrounding counties and follows five pillars; Police and Criminal Justice, Health and Wellbeing, Arts and Culture, Community and the Environment and Working Life.

The Programmes Manager will oversee the successful delivery of The Inspiration Programme and support the Inspiration Programme Manager to plan, timetable and deliver high quality programmes. They will be responsible for quality control and will personally deliver at least one TIP programme across the academic year. They will need to work closely with the Development Team on growth of the programme and broaden our reach into more schools and geographical areas.

Training/ Membership and Mentoring

Action4Youth is an umbrella organisation for voluntary youth clubs and groups across Bucks and Milton Keynes. The Programmes Leader provides training, both internally and externally, and line manages the Aylesbury Vale and Milton Keynes Mentor. You will support the Programmes Leader to lead our membership and training programme, achieving set KPI’s, and ensure the smooth delivery of our mentoring programme.

NCS

NCS is the government’s flagship youth development programme, funded through the NCS Trust. NCS offers 16 and 17 year-olds from different backgrounds the chance to take part in a range of challenging activities away from, and in, their communities.

The Programmes Manager will assist their counterpart in delivery of the NCS programme at peak times; specifically working on seasonal staffing, training and wave management. You will be part of an out of hours on call rota and be required to be on site on programme start and finish days. When on call you will be required to provide programme guidance and support on safeguarding and incidents.

Working hours: Standard office hours are 9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday, with an hour for lunch. Work outside these hours is required on occasions. ​

Salary range: £35,000-£38,000​

Holiday: 25 days annual leave and bank holidays, with additional non-contractual office closure dates at Christmas. ​

Summary of position​​

Art Explora is looking for an experienced Community Programme Manager with a passion for arts engagement and cultural outreach to manage and build our innovative Community Programme for Art Explora in the UK. ​​

The Community Programme Manager will lead on and develop Art Explora’s key community programme streams – Arts at Home, Theatre at Home, Music at Home, Mini Art Explorers and Art Explorers at..., and manage Art Explora UK’s growing volunteer community. The Community Programme Manager will explore ways to expand the content for this programme though new partnerships with museums, galleries and other cultural institutions, as well as expand the programme into more care homes and other care settings, such as hospitals, across the UK.  ​

The Community Programme Manager will manage Art Explora’s growing pool of 140+ volunteers. They will ensure that Art Explora has a comprehensive and supportive volunteer offer. They will review our current volunteer recruitment processes and policies, safeguarding and training procedures, and ensure we meet the highest standards for working with volunteers. ​​

The volunteer community is key to Art Explora’s strategy for scaling up arts engagement in the UK. Through the generous support of volunteers, we can bring our arts programmes to more people and spread the benefits of engaging with arts and culture more widely. We are committed to delivering a volunteer programme that is inclusive, supportive and rewarding. ​

Current Community Programmes: ​

• Arts at Home: volunteers bring conversations about art to 7 older adult care homes across London on a fortnightly basis. ​

• Theatre at Home: in collaboration with volunteer collective OW! Theatre Lab, brings theatre to older adult care homes across London.

• Music at Home: in collaboration with music charities, brings a variety of music to older adult care homes across London. ​

• Mini Art Explorers: volunteers deliver creative activities for early years children in local authority libraries and family hubs monthly. ​

• Art Explorers at...: volunteers take care home residents to galleries, theatre and museums across London. Partners include Sadler’s Wells, The Hayward Gallery and the Whitechapel Gallery. ​​

About the role​

The Community Programme Manager will bring their own experience and knowledge of outstanding community programming to build on and expand the current programme. The Community Programme Manager will manage partnerships with key stakeholders and develop new relationships with a variety of partners, from cultural institutions to new care settings. ​​​

The Community Programme Manager is a pivotal position within the small, dedicated and growing Art Explora team in the UK. The Community Programme Manager will be supported by a Community Programme Assistant and the volunteer community. We are looking for a candidate with management experience.  ​​

To achieve this, the chosen candidate will not only have a passion for arts outreach and engagement, but will also have a proven track record in project management, managing volunteers, excellent organisation and communications skills, and be experienced in building relationships at all levels – with community organisations such as care homes, volunteers, local authorities, content and delivery partners, senior stakeholders, collaborators and supporters. ​

Key Responsibilities​​

Volunteer Management​

• Manage Art Explora UK’s volunteer community including training and social events. ​

• Manage all volunteer administration including volunteer handbook, project coordination and DBS checks. ​

• Manage the volunteer journey, from expression of interest to attending programme sessions. ​

• Ensure the volunteer programme meets the highest standards of good practice. ​

• Manage the volunteer database and management software​​

Community Programme ​

• Lead and develop current Community Programme streams ​

• Develop strategy for expanding and developing the Community Programme across the UK​

• Conduct research, evaluation and consultation, as needed ​

• Partnership and key stakeholder relationship management​

• Manage the Community Programme budget and ensure the programme is delivered on time, within budget and meets targets​​

Art Explora General ​

• Train and line manage the Community Programme Assistant, work placements and interns​

• Regular coordination and consultation with UK team ​

• Reporting at weekly team meetings and to Trustees, as required​

• Financial and written reports for Trustees​

• Budget planning ​

• Managing evaluation procedures and reports​​

Person Specification​​

Essential skills and experience ​

• At least 5 years’ experience delivering arts and cultural outreach programmes, for example within an education and engagement team for an arts organisation, or working directly with community organisations or within the care sector​

• Proven experience of volunteer management including recruitment, training, logistics and personnel management​

• A good knowledge of arts engagement practice in the UK and leading organisations in this field ​

• A proven track record of budget management and event coordination​

• Some experience of fundraising from public sector, trusts and foundations​

• A confident communicator (oral and writing), with an enthusiasm for building creative partnerships and capable of working with a wide range of senior stakeholders and partners ​

• A good knowledge of cultural policies and current cultural engagement landscape​

• Experience of implementing EDI policies and good practice, with passion for driving EDI related change in the arts and cultural sector
