Responsibilities and Person Specification:
This role will play a critical role in delivering and developing our UK wide Advice and Support service, ensuring it works seamlessly with our outsourced Helpline and delivers real impact for older people in or facing financial hardship. You will also work closely with the Director to inform the future design and delivery of these services.
You should have experience of leading and managing a similar high volume, multi-channel remote service with demonstratable success in identifying and implementing service improvements.
You will have a deep understanding of issues affecting older people in financial hardship in the UK and an understanding of how Advice and Support interventions can improve lives.
This role could either be contracted to our London office, or homebased. Regular travel to our London office will be required, regularly if homebased, and a minimum of once a week if contracted to the London office. The ability to travel across the UK, including to Scotland, is also required.

This is a full-time role, 35 hours per week, which you can choose to work over five days or a 9 day fortnight. We also are open to this role being worked on a part-time basis on a minimum of 28 hours per week.
Salary (pro-rata if part-time):
Hybrid working in London (minimum one day per week in the office): £65,678 per annum
Homebased (with regular travel to London): £59,115 per annum

The role:
The Senior Operations Manager (SOM) (Deputy COO) will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operational running of the Institute. They will be first point of call for all enquiries from staff, students, and other external stakeholders across all operations at the Earlham Institute (EI) crossing all areas of operational activity from corporate services to laboratory management.
They will support the Chief Operating Officer (COO) with the management of the Division, with line management of the Communications and Operational and Laboratory Management Groups which including building management and capital projects, as well as the Business Support Team. They will also assist with preparing briefing documents for senior Board and Committees and deputise for the COO on committees when needed.
The Senior Operations Manager is a busy and varied role, no two days are the same. The post holder will also assist the COO to oversee services provided to the Institute via the shared services (Norwich Bioscience Institute Partnership (NBIP)) providing Estates, Health and Safety, Human Resources, Quality Assurance, Finance, Purchasing and Computing services ensuring they are aligned to the needs of the Institute.
The ideal candidate:
The Senior Operations Manager will have a degree in relevant financial, legal, project management or operational areas of expertise or equivalent qualification.
They will have extensive experience working at Senior Management level, or working in a busy multidisciplined organisation, with involvement in the management of operational activities. They will need excellent leadership and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced changing environment, they will need a strong understanding of health and safety legislation in the workplace, if the post holder has experience in project management it will also be beneficial.
It is critical that the post holder has a natural interest in what makes an organisation successful in its delivery, can see solutions to barriers to success and wants to help others achieve their goals. They also need to be happy to be the front-line support for a variety of enquiries that need to be solved quickly.

The National Specialist Family Service a long-standing innovative family residential service that provides for parents and children, and Ophelia House is a trauma responsive female-only treatment service.

We are seeking to develop relationships across the women and family support sector so that we can learn from others and bring best practice and emerging practice (nationally and internationally) into our service delivery. This role includes overseeing a women’s-only residential service specialising in providing safe therapeutic environments for those who have experienced multiple disadvantage and those who have experienced past trauma. The Role
This role is a senior operational manager post and will report to the Deputy Director of Operations (TC Specialist). The role has responsibility for managing a portfolio of two specialist residential services:
- Ophelia House, Oxford (Trauma-responsive, female only Therapeutic Community)
- National Specialist Family Service, Sheffield
You will manage CQC Registered Managers and services, along with providing leadership to staff teams across your portfolio of services (portfolio may change over time). These two residential services each provide unique environments and specialism, rooted in the Therapeutic Community approach.
You will be required to attend both of the services depending on need and workplan (located in Oxford & Sheffield respectively), as well as occasional travel elsewhere across England and Scotland.
You will be a member of the Phoenix Senior Management Team (SMT) and influence and shape the future of the organisation. There is the option for hybrid working and flexible/condensed hours would be considered.

In support of the current Drug Strategy in England (From Harm to Hope) and the investment in residential services in Scotland, Phoenix are committed to rebuilding capacity across both countries in the residential rehab sector. To support the growth in Wild Impact’s conservation and sustainable development impact, it is recruiting a UK based Senior Partnerships Manager, who will be responsible for developing and implementating a UK and W. Europe focused fundraising drive. Expectation is that the successful individual will be able to increase our existing annual fundraising level of ~$750,000 by an additional ~$ 750,000 by 2026, and thereafter increase their personal fundraising contribution by at least 20% per annum.
The successful applicant will report jointly to the Wild Impact South Africa CEO and the Trustees of Africa Foundation (UK) and work closely with the worldwide Wild Impact Fundraising and Partnerships team.
KEY OUTPUTS:
Development and management of a UK and W. Europe based fundraising and partnerships strategy that will enable the implementation of the shared Wild Impact and &Beyond Impact strategy, including:

o Development and dissemination of all donor and partner communications.
o The delivery and progressive improvement of all donor and partner reports.

The Director of Finance post is central to the success of Bowel Cancer UK particularly in driving long-term value creation and shaping financial strategy. The FD role is a true partner to the Chief Executive, including acting as deputy where appropriate. The post holder is responsible for managing the financial operations of the charity, ensuring that the income and expenditure are managed efficiently, with effective controls and reported accurately.

The role:
- Developing and managing The Access Project’s financial strategy and associated KPIs with key stakeholders across the organisation.
- Managing variance analysis and reporting, reforecasting and rolling 12-month cash flow forecast successfully whilst optimising use of cash resources in line with its investment policy and risk management procedures.
- Owning and developing the financial control framework of The Access Project including optimising use of related systems.
- Leading on the annual budgeting and forecasting cycles, including multi-year forecasts and financial models in line with the organisation’s strategic goals.
- Enable budget holders, through business partnering and training, to manage their own budgets effectively and make strategic decisions based on sound financial understanding of strategic drivers of the organisation.
- Supporting the Sales and Partnerships team with financial information for funding applications and producing financial reports to funders.
- Producing high-quality monthly management accounts with insightful commentary to the Executives, Finco and Trustees, including reporting on finance and fundraising KPIs.
- Successfully managing the month-end process including reviewing the work of the Senior Finance and Operations Coordinator and meeting reporting deadlines.
- Leading the annual audit successfully through pro-active planning and preparation of substantive information and annual statutory accounts, and playing a key role in collation of information of the annual report with relevant stakeholders.

Essential criteria:
- Holds a professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACA/ACCA/CIMA). Finance professionals that have sufficient relevant experience and are close to becoming fully qualified could also be considered.
- Demonstrable business partnering approach to financial management is essential, preferably in a similar size organisation and business model.
- Has substantial and relevant experience within the not-for-profit sector including a strong understanding of Charities SORP (FRS102).
- Strong financial control, management accounting and reporting experience.
- Able to effectively communicate complex financial matters to non-finance colleagues.
- Passionate about educational disadvantage and The Access Project’s mission.

About your role

In this role, you'll bring your wealth of knowledge to ensure consistent quality across our audit processes. Some of the key aspects of the role are:
- Ensure that the firm’s technical team comply with and enhance our existing system of our Quality Management.
- Performing key audit quality monitoring activities and updating the monitoring and evaluation calendar.
- Reporting results from monitoring activities to the Leadership Team
- Perform root cause analysis on issues identified during Quality Review activities and determine which output actions are required, such as technical training or audit process changes.
- Produce quarterly monitoring reports for review and sign off by the Technical Partner

- Encourage the adoption and implementation of new systems, new technology & drive the continuous improvement of practices, procedures and controls already in place

- Awareness of Companies Act and financial reporting requirements relating to our client base would also be beneficial, but not essential (can be learned if they have base knowledge of FRS 102).
