Summary of the role:

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
- A proven track record in face-to-face fundraising and team management, with leadership experience to recruit, motivate and guide your team to success.

- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, a strong understanding of ethical fundraising, good planning and organisational skills and the ability to think strategically.

The Kent MS Therapy Centre is seeking an experienced Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser to join our vibrant and successful Fundraising Team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for generating income from trusts and foundations at KMSTC. You will take over the current trusts and foundations caseload, including repeat applications, report writing and maintaining relationships. You will identify and actively pursue new grants available as well as develop and maintain relationships with major funders. Your work will ensure that that we can provide excellent therapies and support to people living with MS and other neurological conditions at our purpose- built therapy Centre.
Alongside raising funds, you will be part of the team responsible for growing our Monitoring and Evaluation framework which helps to develop, monitor and assess the impact of the Centre’s services. You will also be responsible for maintaining and updating trust and foundation records on Beacon, our fundraising database.
You will be expected to develop ideas and opportunities, as well as growing relationships with prospective, past and current supporting organisations. · Write and submit interim and annual reports for funders as required

- Be a qualified accountant or part-qualified with relevant experience (CIMA/CIPFA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent) with strategic and operational finance management experience, including financial process, income and expenditure management, reporting, year-end, audit, statutory and management account production, establishing and monitoring effective financial controls.
- Understand the charity environment and wider landscape, with a successful track record of working with a Trustee Board or a leadership team.
- Demonstrate experience of costing projects with a full-cost recovery approach as well as a high level of IT competency, including the use of Technology, Microsoft Office and SAGE
- Up-to-date knowledge of charity SORP regulations and requirements, and experience of payroll and pensions is desirable.

About the position
The successful candidate will be a senior finance professional with significant experience working to deliver high quality financial management information in a complex, international environment. Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
• Lead the annual planning, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting cycles for the global organisation in line with parameters determined by the Senior Leadership Team and Head of Finance
• Act as business partner to all budget holders in the preparation and review of annual budgets including accurate recording of costs allocated to restricted funds
• Work with the Human Resources department to prepare the staffing budget and monitor staff costs across the organisation, providing insights to management
• Produce the consolidated organisational budget and accompanying commentary for discussion with the Head of Finance and Managing Director, Finance and Administration and approval by the Senior Leadership Team and the Board
• Lead the forecasting process twice a year – supporting budget holders to update the forecast outturn for their departments for the full financial year and producing consolidated organisational forecasts and accompanying commentary for review by the Head of Finance and Managing Director, Finance and Administration and for approval by the Senior Leadership Team and the Board
• Produce monthly management accounts and accompanying commentary on a timely basis for all budget holders and for the overall organisation for review by the Head of Finance and Managing Director, Finance and Administration and approval by the Senior Leadership Team and the Board
• Meet regularly with budget holders to understand the nature of variances from budget/forecast, investigating and correcting any discrepancies within the accounts
• Develop and produce financial analysis and ad hoc reports for a range of users, as required
• Work closely with the Program Finance Manager in relation to the financial management and spend rates of grantees, particularly those funded by institutional / government donors
• Work closely with the Financial Accountant to ensure that month end procedures are completed accurately in line with the monthly timetable and that the chart of accounts for each cost centre is aligned to the needs of the budget holder
• Provide training to budgets holders as required to ensure that key financial management information tools (budgets, forecasts, and management accounts) are properly understood and utilised
Donor Reporting and Compliance
• Design and implement templates to facilitate donor budgeting and reporting
• Review and revise donor financial reports in line with donor reporting formats and timescales
• Review and revise donor budgets and proposals prior to submission and ensure they are integrated into organisational budgets and forecasts and that restricted grant spend can be properly monitored by budget holders

To support this important work, we are looking for a Programme Funding Manager to secure significant and sustainable funding through matching donor’s purpose and values with Embrace’s programme and partnership strategy.
Recognising the philanthropy landscape is changing, we want to invest in building on the solid foundations that have been laid by the current major giving team with this new Programme Funding Manager (initially for 1 year). The focus of this new role will be to shift our trust and foundation fundraising approach towards developing thematic proposals, specifically funding Embrace’s Christian Partners to provide support for services including but not limited to; refugees, displaced communities fleeing violence, enable women's empowerment, psychosocial support for young people, education services, community development and emergency humanitarian relief. About the role:
The Programme Funding Manager will work closely with Embrace’s Director of Fundraising and Major Gift colleagues to secure £500,000 per annum from Major Donors, Trusts, Foundations and Corporates.
Working collaboratively with Embrace’s Programme and Partnerships colleagues, you will create, develop and agree funding proposals to support our partners with programming developments, around thematic proposals that fund work in multiple countries. This work will encompass, producing compelling, persuasive and professional applications to secure and renew funding. This will result in achieving substantial donations and long-term partnership with donors through excellent stewardship, characterised by clearly articulating to trusts, funder’s philanthropic interests, providing captivating reports to encourage the renewal and cultivation of potential and existing donations. You will develop and maintain an exemplary understanding of the context and challenges of Embrace’s Christian partners, deliver high quality applications to either achieve or exceed targets and ensure donors are professionally thanked and their support acknowledged as appropriate.
About you:
This role requires a proven understanding of successful programme design and ability to innovate our approach to fundraising from charitable trusts, foundations and corporate donors, coupled with pre-emptively writing pitch proposals that marry donor purpose, and an ability to present detailed reports illustrating the impact of Embrace’s work through its Christian partners in the region. Suitable candidates will be motivated and inspired to support Embrace’s Christian partners to transform lives and restore the dignity of the most excluded and marginalised, helping change the lives of marginalised people living with poverty, injustice, disability, trauma and displacement caused by conflict, and other challenges. You will have a sympathy for Embrace’s mission with the Christian faith and be comfortable working in a faith-inspired environment.
Suitable skills and experience include:
- A track record in developing new funding sources, writing applications and reporting on projects raising 5/6-figure sums for multi-year projects
- Ability to identify potential new funding opportunities and have experience of writing detailed reports and delivering pitches on the phone and/or in person
- A highly collaborative approach, a problem solver and lateral thinker
- Willingness to travel to visit Embrace’s programmes in the Middle East (once or twice every 2 years)
- Translating strategy into cases for funding support
- A propositional / front-footed approach, proactively prioritising workload to deliver multiple projects at the same high standard
- Strong written communication and interpersonal skills with proven track record in face-to-face pitching to prospects and the ability to present orally and in writing
