We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Direct Marketing and Fundraising Officer to join our Public Fundraising team. This role is integral to the smooth operation of our fundraising activities, particularly during appeals, where your coordination skills will be crucial.

Key Responsibilities:

Appeal Coordination:

• Assist the Direct Marketing Manager - Acquisition in keeping member agency fundraising directors and key suppliers up to date in the run-up to and during appeals.
• Update the fundraising and marketing team budget tracker, ensuring accurate financial tracking throughout the appeal process.
• Support the setup and management of Appeal Toolkits and Appeal Hubs, providing essential assets to staff, member agencies, and suppliers.
• Assist with the coordination and delivery of creative projects across all direct marketing channels, ensuring timely and effective execution.
• Work with the team to gather and report appeal results, providing updates to the Director of Fundraising and Marketing, Executive Team, and CEO’s office.

 Ongoing Responsibilities:

• Organize and manage review meetings with suppliers’ post-appeal, contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
• Monitor and update core and appeal budgets, processing invoices and ensuring financial accuracy.
• Support the Director of Fundraising and Marketing in organizing and managing the Fundraising Director’s Group meetings, including diary coordination, preparing presentations, and taking minutes.
• Provide general administrative support to the Fundraising and Marketing team, including setting up monthly team meetings, organizing agendas, and coordinating away days.

• Proven experience in project coordination and administrative support, ideally within a fundraising or marketing environment.
• Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a keen eye for detail.
• Experience with budget tracking and financial processes.
• A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to work well within a team.

We are seeking an operational and people focussed Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our Executive Team. You will drive development of all financial and operational management, processes and reporting, overseeing the organisation’s day-to-day operations including the leadership of Finance, People, Governance, Fundraising, Marketing and Communications and Digital. 

The successful candidate will have held broad finance and operations positions, with a track record of interacting at Board level and presenting clear financial and management information. Whilst you don’t have to be financially qualified, we do need someone with strong financial acumen and demonstrable ability to monitor, interpret and communicate financial information effectively. You will have experience in implementing new and/or successful improvements to existing systems and processes, with a track record of driving organisational change. The post holder will have a good understanding of regulation and best practice alongside the ability to develop efficient processes and controls in line with our governance framework. Ensuring that people are at the centre of the Florence Nightingale Foundation (FNF) you will play a key role within the Executive team supporting the charity to achieve sustainable growth and delivery of efficient and effective services ensuring plans are developed and implemented, and targets are met.

My Life Films is an award-winning charity that uses film and TV to enrich and support the lives of people affected by dementia. This includes My Life TV, our specialist on-demand streaming service, with bespoke curated content designed to improve wellbeing. We are also known for our award-winning life story film service.

My Life TV is carefully put together with a wide range of content to enable people living with dementia to feel stimulated and connected to the world, improving their mental health and supporting their essential care. We work with highly respected content partners as well as produce our own programming in partnership with trusted organisations in the dementia care field and more widely.

About the Role

This is a hugely exciting opportunity for an experienced and confident interim CEO to come into the organisation and lead it during this important transition period, which is where we are shifting our model from in-house sales and marketing to a partner-led approach. As leader of the My Life Films team, you will also work across governance, finance, income generation, and impact. You will be responsible for delivering My Life Films' immediate strategy and working with the Board of Trustees.

- Progress strategic partnership discussions for My Life TV with existing partners and identified potential partners to move to a wholesale or reseller model for My Life TV, or potentially acquisition of the service by another charity, company or care organisation

- Develop financial and operational models for potential partnerships, including scenario planning and P&L analysis, involving content, tech, marketing, and charitable impact. Lead negotiations, bringing in commercial, accounting, or legal support as needed.

- Work with the Board to create a strategic plan for My Life TV and new dementia-focused services, aligning with the charity's mission.

- Oversee daily operations, including finance, income generation, content production, partnerships, and reporting.

- Secure necessary funding through trusts, foundations, care groups, and events, representing My Life Films to stakeholders.

Reports to: SCA Director

Duties:

• To be the first point of contact for visitors and service users
• Helping establish and maintain office procedures
• To assist the Director with budgetary control arrangements, maintain accounts, salaries and efficient running of the charity
• To attend and take minutes of SCA Board meetings, Community Forum and other meetings, where required
• To type confidential reports and correspondence, ensuring compliance with GDPR and other statutory requirements and maintain files and the filing systems
• Use a range of software, including email, spreadsheets and databases, to ensure the efficient running of the office
• To ensure the dispatch of agendas, minutes and other relevant material relating to SCA meetings
• To prepare invoices, accounts, petty cash, spreadsheets, SAGE entries and diary management
• To ensure that SCA membership list is up to date 10. Record office expenditure and manage the budget
• Organise the office layout and maintain supplies of stationery and equipment
• Maintain the condition of the office and arrange for necessary repairs

Person Specification:

Essential Characterisitics:

• Have at least two year’s experience of working in an office environment
• Ability to recruit, manage and supervise volunteers
• Strong IT and typing skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with a wide range of people
• Able to receive visitors and to deal with their queries, signposting to other agencies, where required
• Knowledge of office procedures and practices and advising of timely filing of returns etc
• Understanding of SAGE, bookkeeping, bank reconciliation or able to maintain financial records using web based financial systems
• Can demonstrate experience of purchasing and maintaining stationary stock and other office supplies/ equipment
• Experienced in dealing with work of a confidential nature, ensuring compliance with GDPR and other regulatory requirements
• Ability to prepare meeting agendas, minutes, finance reports and projections
• Experience of preparing newsletters, project monitoring reports, publicity and promotional material
• High standard of computer literacy, including experience of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc

Role outline and purpose

This role is responsible for leading the development and implementation of our financial inclusion programmes across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, (428 food banks, running over 1300 centres), building strong partnerships and alliances to achieve our vision of a UK without the need for food banks.

Leading on the development and delivery of our programme and influencing work on a range of issues including income maximisation, welfare rights, social security, debt and financial inclusion, capturing evidence to demonstrate the need for long-term solutions to prioritise people facing destitution and deliver real change for people in crisis.

Role responsibilities

· Proactive and effective contribution to the Senior Leadership Team towards the achievement of our overall organisational strategy, with direct responsibility for leading on the second key objective of our Changing Communities theme.

· Development and delivery of an innovative income maximisation helpline across England and Wales, in collaboration with the Citizens Advice England & Wales, along with other key organisations in the anti-poverty sector, offering immediate telephone advice and support to people facing crisis through c130 FTE trained specialist advice workers.

· Development and delivery of income maximisation programmes in NI and Scotland to support people in crisis to access advice and holistic support

· Lead and develop a high-performing team of c25 in order to support every food bank to develop and execute a strategic plan in each of their communities, that seeks to improve the local referral pathways, putting advice at the front end of the journey for people in crisis, to include the delivery of a strategic grant programme of c. £15 million to embed financial inclusion initiatives.

· Ensure that all financial inclusion service provision is underpinned by sustained and meaningful participation from people with lived experience, ensuring the journey of the person in crisis is continuously improved through utilising data and sector learning on best practice for effective service delivery across channels, considering barriers, gaps and referral pathways

· Establish specialist data and insight analysis function, capturing return on investment, performance and impact of national and local services and partnerships, and providing clear and actionable insights to drive informed decision making to deliver improved experience and outcomes for people in crisis.

We are therefore recruiting a Finance Manager to lead the implementation and delivery of best-practice financial management and planning, ensuring that ODAC is ready to continue to increase our charitable impact.

This is the first Finance Manager role in the organisation and the role will involve using your knowledge and experience to develop the way that ODAC works. In recent years, financial management has been led by the Chief Executive, with a freelance book-keeping contractor and a 0.5 days/ week Finance Administrator, and we have an experienced Finance Lead on the Board of Trustees.

The Finance Manager will lead on bookkeeping, financial management, and providing support and advice to budget holders. They will collaborate with the Director on financial planning and reporting, and will be responsible for reviewing and implementing best practices, ensuring that the charity’s financial functions are fit for its size, purpose, and growth.
