You will:
- Lead the organisation on strategic fundraising messaging, ensuring it's on brand, insight led and aligned across all fundraising communications and channels.
- Develop and maintain a central information resource that gives Fundraisers access to accurate, up-to-date information about the Society's activity and impact - including a Fundraising Information Bank, Shopping List and bespoke toolkits to support regional fundraising.
- Understand what our supports need to know, often around finances, and be able to provide them with accurate information.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships across the organisation, particularly with key communication teams in each departments ensuring a two-way flow of information and feedback about resources produced for teams to use.
- Act as a pivot point to receive, align and direct information for fundraising teams and supporters.
- Develop and maintain a reactive information provision service, responding to queries and bespoke requests within agreed deadlines.
- Develop and maintain a proactive information service, making rapidly available the latest news, messaging, facts, stats and stories about the Society's impact.
- Collaborate with colleagues from other directorates to improve the flow of approved facts, statistics and case studies across the organisation.
- Develop, monitor and report on KPIs for the Fundraising Information Bank.
This is a homeworking role with the flexibility to offer hybrid working, but you may be required to travel to attend meetings, events and team-days, so you must reside in the UK, have the correct right to work documents to work in the UK and be comfortable/willing to travel to our offices (London or Birmingham) if/when required.

About the role
We’re seeking an exceptional and experienced project manager to deliver a pivotal role within our ground-breaking national Kinship Training and Support Service, funded by the Department for Education.
This is our largest contract, and this role is key to enabling our organisational activity. The service offers over 300 online and in-person training events and workshops per year, tailored to meet the specific needs of kinship carers. We need to ensure at least 4,600 kinship carers attend.
You’ll be accountable for successful project delivery, working with executive project sponsors (Chief Operating Officer and Services and Digital Director) and workstream leads (Associate Directors and Heads of departments) to deliver KPI’s to deadlines, escalating and managing risks early.
The type of person we're looking for
You’ll have extensive experience in successful delivery of complex projects that include multiple workstreams and a range of internal and external stakeholders, with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Through your experience of planning, monitoring and controlling project delivery, you’ll quickly set up the necessary systems and processes for success.
You’ll bring strong leadership and communication skills to designing and implementing integrated plans, agreeing deliverables and ensuring accountability. You will need to own this programme of work, and you will need to move at pace. You’ll interpret needs effectively, ensure clarity of roles and responsibilities and build project management capability. You’ll have a solutions-focused approach and naturally motivate and inspire others to get things done.
Key responsibilities include:
- Work closely with project sponsors, steering group and core team to be accountable for delivery of the programme project KPIs.
- Use a flexible and collaborative approach to set up, deliver and mobilise projects ensuring delivery of vision, aims and objectives.
- Ensure full project documentation, robust project initiation and effective project management and processes ensuring key activity is on track.
- Quickly build detailed project and workstream plans on our project management tool (Asana), ensuring clear roles and responsibilities and supporting colleagues to use the tool effectively.
- Manage multi-department core team including consultants and agencies ensuring they are motivated and working well.
- Set up and implement processes and procedures for successful delivery.
- Support and work with all the workstream leads and deliver integrated plans across the service, focusing teams on what is most important for delivery to meet targets.

Essential knowledge, abilities, skills and experience include:
Project Management qualification or commensurate experience.

The Head of Finance at IAPB will act as a business partner to the organisation, be a key member of our leadership team and will lead on:
- all aspects of financial and resource planning and reporting
- ensuring effective financial processes, business partnering, analysis and decision support, and
- ensuring that the finance team works as a valued business partner across the organisation in support of our work.
They will provide leadership to the small Finance team and work to ensure the team is an enabler to the organisation, through ensuring effective practice in all areas based on our values.
This role will help develop financial strategy and policies, and work to further develop and embed a robust financial management culture that provides a sustainable model for the future of IAPB.
Hours of Work: 37.5 per week (Monday to Friday)
Location: Hybrid (1 day central London office, 4 days home based) with some travel
Scope and accountability
Reporting to the Director of Development and Operations, the post holder will:
1. Lead the finance team to deliver business information and provide decision support to the whole organisation through:
- Accurate, informative and timely monthly reporting and analysis to a range of audiences from the Trustees to individual project leads, encompassing income and expenditure and balance sheet reporting, ensuring that reports are tailored to the relevant audience.
- Financial forecasting for the current and following financial years.
- Preparation of regular, timely and informative committee and board papers
- Close business partnering with budget holders and project leads, based on effective working relationships.
- Involvement in programmes and projects from planning through to completion
- Horizon scanning, particularly of future income streams, working closely with the Fundraising and Business Development Team
- A programme of review and continuous improvement of appropriate end to end business processes.
- Working with a consultant Finance Director as and when required.
2. Manage the payables process to ensure liabilities are settled in an accurate and timely fashion.
3. Ensure receivables process is effective.
4. Prepare year-end statutory accounts for the charity and its subsidiary companies. Coordinate the preparation across teams as required. Liaise with auditors and Board. Ensure statutory obligations and deadlines are met.
5. Lead the budget setting process, working across the whole organisation. Maintain formal budget delegations on behalf of the CEO and keep them under review.
6. Lead on preparation and arrangements for the Audit Committee.
7. Prepare and maintain rolling cashflow forecasts to support financial and resource planning and investment/treasury management. Ensure cashflow monitoring and forecasting distinguishes unrestricted, designated, and restricted charity funds and reflects the requirements and terms of individual restricted funds.
8. Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures appropriate to the organisation. Contribute to wider organisational policies and procedures as a key member of the leadership team.
9. Oversee the development and work of the finance team, ensuring appropriate systems, processes and internal controls are in place to support effective delivery of operations and safeguarding of assets.
10. Build on and embed a robust financial management culture across the organisation based on a focus on impact, value for money, effective procurement and contracting, and appropriate grant terms.
11. Actively contribute to risk management, leading on risk for the finance team and supporting the wider organisation in risk management.
12. Preparation and submission of reporting information and returns as required, including but not limited to: VAT; other taxes; Gift Aid; accounts; confirmation statements; reports to funders.
13. Work closely with HR in terms of people planning and oversee the monthly payroll.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience (Essential)
- Strategic understanding and operational delivery of good practice in financial management

Our partner is seeking an Interim Director of Finance to offer a 12 month maternity cover. Your appointment will come at an interesting time, and your leadership will support their expansion plans and new projects, whilst leading on business as usual activities.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the organisation’s scale and income-generation strategy. This includes developing flexible cost models, developing budgets for pilot projects and new projects, and identifying alternate funding opportunities.
- Lead in the development of the organisational wide budget, and budgets for donor/funder proposals.
- Provide oversight on the organisation’s systems, controls, procedures and policies; ensuring these are robust and strengthening them as required.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the finance function, and the production of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for the management team, donors and the board.
- Lead on full grants cycle management from developing budgets for proposals, grants management and compliance, and reporting. This also includes supporting country offices and implementing partners in strengthening their processes and controls, and grants requirements.
- Lead in the preparation of statutory accounts for the UK and overseas entities; and lead in the organisational and project audits.
- Ensure that the UK and overseas offices remain compliant with tax, legal and regulatory compliance.
- Attend trustee and board meetings .
Requirements
- Qualified accountant with at least 5 years post qualification experience. Finance leader, with a strong all-round technical background in developing and strengthening controls, financial accounting, management accounting & reporting, forecasting/modelling and offering financial advisory support to the senior leadership team and board of trustees.
- Experience in managing a complex multi-currency, muti-year, multi-country grants portfolio and in fund accounting for charities.
- Experience of leading the finance function of a charity working internationally.
- Advanced MSExcel skills, including a high proficiency in financial modelling.
- Wiling to be hands on, working effectively with staff based in overseas and offering guidance and mentoring as required.
- Strong communication skills (oral and written) catering to a range of finance and non-finance audiences.
- Willing to travel to the overseas offices; there will be at least 2 trips a year.
This is a 12 month fixed-term contract that offers remote working from anywhere in the UK. Please note, that the successful candidate will need to be based in the UK and work from the UK for the duration of the contract, and therefore would need the right to work in the UK.

About The Role

We have entered a new and exciting strategic period at the DEC and are seeking a Risk and Compliance Manger to ensure we are completing all the necessary checks and balances as our engagement with partners and stakeholders, increases.
To be successful in this role, you must have proven experience in risk management, compliance, or a similar role, preferably within the non-profit sector. Additionally, you will need proven experience in mitigating legal risks and liabilities, identifying contractual hazards to reduce or eliminate their financial impact, and have guided colleagues to negotiate contractual matters in a legal and ethical manner.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Develop and implement comprehensive risk management frameworks and strategies, both in and out of appeals.
- Manage the process of risk assessments (including data protection impact assessments) and internal audits to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Manage the organisation’s insurance policies and ensure adequate coverage for all potential risks.
- Oversee travel risk management to ensure the safety and security of staff traveling to high-risk areas.
- Report and manage serious incidents, ensuring timely and appropriate responses.
- Manage the internal reporting of personal data breaches and support the Data Protection Steering Group with reporting to data subjects and the Information Commissioner’s Office, where required.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and statutory requirements, and codes of practice including data protection, safeguarding, and governance standards.
- Review and negotiate contracts and grants to ensure they meet legal and organisational standards.
- Oversee procurement processes to ensure they are ethical, transparent, and compliant with organisational policies
- Promote and oversee ESG initiatives within the organisation.
- Conduct regular reviews of financial controls and procedures to ensure accuracy and integrity
