The Role

These roles offer flexibility for home and office working with travel to appointments to meet clients across London is required.

As an Independent Victim Advocate you will provide high quality, holistic support to clients, including victims of sexual violence. As a Complex Case Independent Victim Advocate you will work Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with some evening and weekend working on occasion.

You will need to be able to manage a demanding workload, travel to appointments with clients and to meet a range of conflicting deadlines.

About You

You will have:

• An understanding of the impact of crime on victims such as anti-social behaviour, domestic abuse, sexual violence and hate crime.
• A proven track record of successfully delivering services and working directly within a statutory, voluntary or multi agency setting(s).
• Experience of managing a caseload including complex case management.
• Experience of outcome focussed working
• A full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle and business insurance essential for some areas, for example rural locations (requirement will be discussed at interview)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join our Therapy Team. This role will require the successful candidate to provide a high quality, evidence based occupational therapy which promotes participation and functional activity of children and young people.

Role Requirements

• Provide high quality, evidence based occupational therapy provision for children and young
  people attending The Children’s Trust in-patient neurorehabilitation, in partnership with other
  members of the multi-disciplinary team.
• Undertake occupational therapy assessments of children including those with acquired brain injuries and complex needs e.g. multiple co-morbidities, neurodisabilities and chronic conditions, through standardised and non-standardised assessments and clinical observations.
• Keep appropriate and accurate intervention records, fulfilling legal, professional and all other requirements of The Children’s Trust.
• Contribute to child related reports, including looked after children and annual review reports as required, and assist with the collation of these as required, in a timely manner in line with organisational targets.
• Develop therapy goals, in collaboration with the child and family/carers, as well as the multidisciplinary and education teams, other health professionals and agencies, to facilitate the participation of the child in their life skills
• Communicate effectively with children/young people, applying the principles of consistent communication.
• Facilitate effective communication with families and members of the Multidisciplinary Team.
• Recognise barriers to effective communication and be able to reduce these as appropriate.
• Attend and contribute to Multidisciplinary Team meetings, to discuss individual children/ young people and service in general, as required e.g., reviews, case conferences, parent’s evenings, clinics, etc.

About the Advisory Panel
The Advisory Panel is a meeting of the four Council’s committees (Companies, Education, Registration and Standards) in plenary session. They are established by statute for the purpose of giving advice and assistance to Council (whether or not in response to a request from them) on:

· matters relating to business registrants other than matters required by the Opticians Act to be referred to the Investigation Committee, the Registration Appeals Committee or the Fitness to Practise Committee;

· matters relating to optical training, education and assessment;

· matters relating to registration, other than matters required by the Opticians Act to be considered by the Registration Appeals Committee; and

· matters relating to the standards of conduct and performance expected of registrants or those seeking admission to the register.

The committees and the Advisory Panel meet about twice a year. You can read the current terms of reference for the Advisory Panel, Education Committee, Registration Committee and Standards Committee.

Remuneration and time commitment

A daily fee of £319 will be paid. This is in line with our member fees policy and member fee schedule.  This is taxable and subject to Class 1 National Insurance (NI) contributions. It is not pensionable.

Members can claim expenses for travel and subsistence costs incurred on Council business as set out in our expenses policy.

This role is part time with a commitment of approximately 2-3 days per year, including time spent preparing for meetings.  Meetings will usually take place via MS Teams but may on occasion be held at the GOC Offices in London or other suitable venues.

Co-locating, in a health service, an Independent Domestic Abuse Advocate (IDVA), a Domestic Abuse (DA) Coordinator and a violence prevention worker has never been trialed before anywhere in the UK.

This pilot project aims to showcase a gold standard approach to care for families experiencing DA by: -

• Improving recognition and management of victims and perpetrators of DA
• on-site specialised help for victims and perpetrators
• Building sustainable and long-term partnership with Hammersmith & Fulham council, Standing Together Against Domestic Violence (STADV), and Domestic Violence Intervention Project (DVIP).

About the role:

You may be a qualified IDVA or a Domestic Abuse Outreach Worker wanting to work alongside health professionals in a hospital environment, although we will consider applicants from other fields providing you are able to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse.

This role is co-located within Charing Cross Hospital 4 days per week and 1 day per week at our office near Old Street.

You will:

• Implement effective ways of working with victims and those supporting them to increase safety and reduce harm.
• Provide a high-quality, front-line service to victims of domestic abuse, delivering a premium service prioritised according to risk, primarily focusing on victim/survivors aged 16+
• Work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse to keep safety central to all services for victims of domestic abuse.
• Be comfortable with running group training sessions and be willing and able to share your specialist knowledge with acute staff across the hospital.
• Have excellent communication skills, a proactive approach and the confidence to be able to influence the way in which this service is delivered are key.

Please note that the successful applicant will be required to sign an honorary contract with the Hospital Trust in addition to their contract of employment.

• Have a knowledge of help-seeking barriers and support needs of victims of domestic abuse (in heterosexual or same-sex relationships).

What you’ll be doing

As a Campaigns Analyst, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping River Action’s fight for cleaner rivers by transforming complex data and information into compelling narratives that influence public opinion, media coverage, political advocacy, and legal action.

Reporting to the Head of Campaigns, you’ll be at the heart of our evidence-based approach. You’ll be analysing government and industry data, uncovering insights, and equipping our team with the intelligence needed to challenge polluters, hold regulators accountable, and push for policy reform. 

Like a detective, you will be the person we rely on to seek out and identify the smoking gun - as well as to meticulously build out the pieces of the jigsaw - that demonstrates the malpractice, illegal behaviour or mismanagement of a water company, a factory farm or a failed regulator.

• Monitor government regulators and industry updates, tracking regulatory programmes, announcements, data, reports and other information.

• Develop and lead proactive data collection efforts including by making Freedom of Information (FOI) and Environmental Information Regulation (EIR) requests to inform and support campaigns, legal actions, investigations and communications.

• Plan, execute and report public opinion polls to gather insights that strengthen campaign messaging.

• Analyse and interpret complex data to uncover key insights that drive impactful campaigns and communications.

• Map and assess major campaign factors, including pollution sources, supply chains, regulatory frameworks and industry compliance.

• Investigate polluters, evaluating their legal obligations, governance structures, sustainability claims, environmental performance, finances and resource allocations.

• Investigate government regulators including the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales and Ofwat, analysing the performance of their monitoring, reporting and law enforcement duties.

• Maintain and update internal databases and fact sheets with the latest intelligence.

• Develop an in depth understanding of UK policy and legal frameworks relating to the regulation of rivers, and ensure colleagues are kept up to date with changes.

• Contribute towards River Action policy and advocacy work, ensuring our positions are underpinned by evidence and data.

• Ensure all River Action initiatives are evidence-based, current, and well-informed, and support colleagues requiring data and evidence for handling media opportunities.

• Research and propose solutions to environmental challenges, including technological advancements, regulatory changes, and financial incentives.

• Present research findings in clear, accessible reports that highlight environmental challenges and potential solutions.

• Produce compelling, data-driven reports and surveys for external publication, ensuring high engagement and impact.

• Collaborate with communications teams to translate complex data into visually engaging content for traditional and digital media.

• Provide accurate and up-to-date intelligence to strengthen campaign communications.

• Build partnerships with analysts, researchers, universities, think tanks, and third-sector organisations to collaborate on research and data-sharing initiatives.

• Manage relationships with external contractors, including researchers, polling firms, and academics, as needed.

• Support fundraising efforts by providing key data and insights for campaign and fundraising teams.

• Ensure all team members are well-briefed on the latest data and intelligence when engaging externally.

• Stay informed on advocacy, policy developments, and key relationships to strengthen research and analysis strategies.

• Contribute to shaping River Action’s position and key messaging to keep them fresh and relevant.

About the Role:

You may be a qualified IDVA or a Domestic Abuse Outreach Worker wanting to work alongside professionals in a multi-agency environment, although we will consider applicants from other fields providing you are able to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of both domestic and sexual violence.

This role involves both face to face and virtual support in a hybrid model of working. There is an expectation that you will do a mixture of working from home, our office in Old Street.

As a Independent Domestic Violence Advocate you will:

• Implement effective ways of working with victims and those supporting them to increase safety and reduce harm.
• Provide a high-quality, front-line service to victims of domestic and sexual abuse, delivering a premium service prioritised according to risk, primarily focusing on victim/survivors aged 16+
• Work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic and sexual abuse to keep safety central to all services for victims of domestic and sexual abuse.
• Have excellent communication skills, a proactive approach and the confidence to be able to influence the way in which this service is delivered are key.

You will need:

• Have a knowledge of help-seeking barriers and support needs of victims of domestic and sexual abuse (in heterosexual or same-sex relationships).
• Have a good understanding of domestic and sexual abuse including the impact of abuse on victims and their children.
• Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic and sexual abuse and their children.
• Understand safeguarding issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
• Direct service delivery to victims of domestic and sexual abuse or other vulnerable people.
• Have excellent communication, negotiation and advocacy skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals. Understand and be committed to equal opportunities and diversity issues in policy and practice.

We are seeking a self-motivated Member Support and Administrative Assistant to play a key role in our friendly team. The successful candidate will liaise with colleagues across the organisation focused on membership, communications, marketing and delivery, and as a result get invaluable insight into these functions. The PSHE Association is the national body for the school subject of PSHE (personal, social, health and economic) education. We are a charity and membership organisation that supports a national network of over 50,000 teachers and schools with resources, training and support. PSHE lessons cover some of the most pressing issues facing young people today including mental and physical health, relationships, staying safe online, economic wellbeing, careers and the importance of equality and diversity.

Terms of Reference

The post is offered on a full time basis, on a permanent contract with a six-month probationary period. The salary will be £24,000.
