Senior Director of Development & Strategic Partnerships

The Worker Rights Consortium (WRC) is seeking a Senior Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships. This person will lead the WRC’s fundraising and partnerships operations to maintain and grow our financial resources, including working with foundations, other institutional grantors, and large individual donors. The Senior Director will also spearhead external communication about the organization’s accomplishments and strategic vision to audiences relevant to our fundraising and partnership building efforts.

About the Worker Rights Consortium

The WRC is one of the world’s leading corporate accountability organizations. We support garment workers and their unions around the world who are fighting to end labor rights abuses and win better wages and conditions in the supply chains of major global brands. The WRC conducts investigations in factories in more than two dozen countries, documents and exposes labor rights violations, and pressures corporations to deliver concrete remedies to workers. And we pursue strategies to achieve systemic change: pressing global corporations to sign binding agreements with unions and end the pricing practices that compel their suppliers to pay poverty wages, subject workers to long hours of forced overtime, and ignore worker safety in order to slash costs.

The WRC works in partnership with unions and civil society organizations across the Global South and North. The priorities of workers, conveyed by their representatives, guide our work. We measure success by documented real-world impact: helping workers win victories that improve their lives and vindicate their rights.

The WRC is based in Washington, DC. We have 27 staff members located in the US, UK, Latin America, Asia, and Africa.

Senior Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships

The Senior Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships will lead fundraising, outreach, and engagement for the WRC at the level of both strategy and implementation. The WRC’s current annual budget is US$3.3 million, and we seek to grow this in line with our program strategy to roughly $5–6 million over the next two to three years.

Areas of responsibility include:

• Designing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to progressively increase annual revenue, including identifying, building relationships with, and securing new funding from foundations, other institutional funders, and individuals, as well as pursuing opportunities to expand relationships with current funders;
• Creating and implementing a framework for strategic external partnership communications, including working with the WRC’s global field team to convey the real-world impact of the WRC’s work and overseeing relevant enhancements to the WRC’s website and other communications pathways;
• Leading on grant writing and framing of external communications;
• Supporting the Executive Director and other colleagues to engage with, and ensure coherent messaging to, donors and other partners—including ensuring that the WRC participates in relevant conferences, convenings, and other discussions related to our organizational mission and objectives;
• Supervising the work of a second development professional who has day-to-day responsibility for grant management, grant reporting, implementation of sub-grantee/grantor arrangements, management of the organization’s small individual donor program, and who also assists with preparation of grant proposals;
• Monitoring progress on grant-funded projects through regular communication with program staff;
• Participating in the development of overall organizational strategy and aligning fundraising strategies accordingly; and
• Contributing to financial reporting and oversight.

This is a full-time position, available immediately. The position is hybrid for a successful candidate who resides in the Washington, DC-area or remote in the case of a candidate who resides elsewhere.

The WRC will consider candidates located within six hours of the US Eastern time zone. For international candidates and US candidates based outside of Washington, DC, the position requires periodic travel to Washington, DC, and possibly other countries in which the WRC works. The Senior Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships will report to the WRC’s Executive Director.

Qualifications

Candidates must have:

• A minimum of seven years’ experience in fundraising for nonprofit organizations and/or seven years’ combined experience with fundraising and strategic communications;
• A substantial track record of successfully cultivating institutional donors and proven experience in establishing new fundraising partnerships;
• Significant experience in communications and storytelling, with an ability to distill complex analysis and program work into communications that inspire and motivate our audiences;
• Exceptional written and oral communications skills;
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to initiate, build, and maintain working relationships with existing and potential grantors and a global team across numerous time zones;
• Strong budget management skills and experience delivering against financial targets;
• Excellent organizational and project management skills and rigorous attention to detail;
• Energy, enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, and a sense of humor; and
• A commitment to workers’ rights and corporate accountability.

The following are desirable but not required:

• Experience with labor rights work; and
• Experience working in an international context.

Compensation

Compensation for this position is $115,000–$135,000 per year, depending on relevant experience (adjusted to the local currency, where applicable). The WRC provides its US staff, who are covered by a union contract, with an excellent benefits package, including 100% employer-paid family health insurance, including dental and vision care, with an additional flexible spending plan with employer contribution; 401(k) retirement plan with employer contribution; and five weeks paid vacation.

• Support public service innovation and impact: Ensure CPI is designing creative programs with our partners that help civil servants excel as stewards of public resources
• Advocate for better governance: Promote policy and governance reforms that prioritise empathy, inclusivity, and trust, positioning CPI as a global thought leader in reimagining the role of government in society.
• Convene thought leaders: Recognising government reform is hard work and hugely complex, the CEO can leverage CPI networks to create meaningful spaces for shared learning and co- produced thought leadership.

3. Strategy- Positioning CPI, prioritising our focus areas, sequencing our organizational development

CPI’s approach starts with a shift in values and thinking before driving system change and service design. Our work spans thematic areas like democratic governance, climate change, AI, gender equity, public health, and more. We use diverse tools—from service design and challenge prizes to partnership- building and fund management. As CPI grows across regions like North America, Europe, and Asia, we need a leader who can balance visionary positioning with operational priorities.

Therefore, we need a CEO who can:

• Cultivate our strategy: Building on existing strengths, develop a long-term strategy for the organization that delivers on its mission and for its partners, while harnessing the full range of capabilities within the team. CPI has a regionally federated structure, with authority appropriately devolved to trusted leaders across the organization. The CEO will play a critical role in uniting these efforts by identifying CPI’s core strengths and focus areas and clearly articulating strategic priorities for both the short and long term. At the same time, the CEO must ensure that CPI remains agile and responsive to emerging opportunities for growth and impact.
• Communicate CPI’s identity: Clarify and strengthen CPI’s identity. Ensure that our work, though complex, is communicated boldly and clearly to raise our profile. Our recent re-brand is part of this, but our next CEO will help craft a bolder, sharper presentation of who we are and how we serve.
• Global perspective and leadership: Continue to build a truly global organization, with a presence across multiple regions. While much of our team, work, and revenue are currently concentrated in the United States, we are committed to maintaining and expanding our international presence. The next CEO must have a global outlook, be comfortable working across different cultures, and actively support CPI’s vision of remaining a diverse and internationally balanced organization. It will be crucial for the CEO to lead efforts to rebalance our organizational focus, ensuring that we continue to strengthen CPI’s work across the world.
• Strengthen our operational core: Build a cohesive and high-functioning foundation across Finance, People & Culture, and Communications. The next CEO will ensure that CPI remains adaptive and entrepreneurial while developing the robust infrastructure needed for sustainable growth. This includes strengthening key operational systems to support CPI’s long-term success without compromising its innovative spirit. The CEO will maintain a strong overview of the financial health and funding forecast for CPI.
• Partner with the Board: Maintain a strong, collaborative relationship with CPI’s Board of Directors, including regular updates on progress and co-creating strategies for future growth. Support the identification and onboarding of new Board members who bring diverse perspectives and are committed to CPI’s mission and values.

4. Partnerships – expanding and deepening our collaborations Collaboration is at the heart of CPI’s work. The CEO will be a bridge-builder across sectors, geographies, and themes, growing the community of those re-imagining government.

Therefore, we expect our next CEO to:

• Steward our partnership with BCG: With our branding recently shifting from “a BCG Foundation” to “founded by BCG,” we have a unique opportunity to further maximize the benefits of our heritage and deepen our partnership with BCG. While CPI operates independently, this exceptional partnership allows us to both benefit from and contribute to BCG’s expertise, creating mutual value and enhancing our collective impact.

REMUNERATION

At CPI, we are committed to aligning our compensation framework with the principles of fairness, equity, and transparency. We benchmark salaries using national, country-specific data and aim to offer compensation between the 50th and 75th percentiles for all staff roles. Additionally, we maintain a 5-to-1 ratio between the most senior and junior staff, ensuring that our compensation structure remains equitable across the organization.

For the CEO role, a competitive salary will be offered in line with local benchmarking for the country where the CEO is based. As a reference, in our two largest offices, the salary range for a UK-based CEO is £170,000-200,000, and for a US-based CEO, the range is $275,000-310,000. Beyond base salary, we take a holistic approach to compensation, offering a benefits package designed to support work-life balance. This includes a generous package and leave entitlement, comprehensive health care, and flexible working arrangements. CPI’s CEO would preferably be based in the US (East Coast) or Western Europe, but we are open to discussing other locations in an exceptional circumstance. Travel will be an important part of the role, with consideration given to climate impact and effective use of time and resources. Travel will include visits to team meetings, attending key global forums, client meetings, and events that showcase CPI’s vision and inspire the re-imagination of government.

About the Investment team

The Investment team is responsible for selecting portfolio partners, managing our investments and supporting our portfolio partners to improve and scale their impact. 

The Investment team also leads the Impetus Leadership Academy, a leadership development programme to support talent from ethnic minority backgrounds in the UK youth sector to progress into senior leadership roles. 

The team is made up of 18 people, including former teachers, charity chief executives, charity impact leads, management consultants, social investment portfolio managers and impact consultants.   

The team is led by a Portfolio Director who sits on the Senior Management Team. The Portfolio Director has 5 direct reports: a Deputy Portfolio Director, three Sector Leads (who lead our work in school engagement, school attainment and employment sectors) and an Impact Lead. Sector Leads line manage 6 Investment Directors. Investment Directors line manage Investment Managers (currently 5). Investment Directors and Investment Managers tend to primarily focus on a sector but might have mixed portfolios, depending on need, experience and interest. 

The Investment team has a good track record of role progression. All four Leads and a number of our Investment Directors were promoted from within the team.

Job description – Senior Impact & Performance Analyst (SIPA)

The Senior Impact & Performance Analyst (SIPA) is essential to advancing Impetus's mission through providing a clear picture of both the impact of our portfolio partners and the effectiveness of Impetus's support. In so doing, it ensures that strong data collection, rigorous analysis, and actionable insights are at the heart of Impetus’s efforts.

This role is ideal for a motivated, detail-oriented team player passionate about driving social impact. Collaborating closely with the Investment Director - Impact Lead, the SIPA will manage end-to-end data processes, from collection through to analysis and reporting, ensuring data remains accessible and actionable. This role then requires strong communication skills to engage with cross-functional teams and portfolio partners, presenting insights clearly to enable impactful, data-informed decisions.

The SIPA will additionally develop performance management tools, such as those within Salesforce, and champion organisation-wide data accessibility.

About this role

To make a real difference to the lives of young people, we believe it is essential that organisations have strong data on their programmes and performance, and a culture of using it with curiosity to deepen their impact.

The Senior Impact & Performance Analyst (SIPA) role at Impetus is integral to enabling us to do the same:

1. To understand how our portfolio partners are performing: the impact they are having, the growth they are achieving and the progress they are making on EDI commitments.
2. To understand how we are performing: how effective our support for portfolio partners is and the impact we’re having on them.
3. To use insights from this information to enable our team to continually improve our support to our portfolio partners to help them become stronger, better and bigger; to reduce the gap between young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and their better-off peers in school attainment, access to university and finding and keeping a job.

Key responsibilities

1.    Data collection and management

• Map annual performance reporting calendar for all relevant stakeholders.
• Maintain and develop templates and processes for i) collecting internal and external data and ii) generating key performance reports. 
• Manage and develop performance databases and knowledge, ensuring i) they meet the needs of different users within Impetus, ii) compliance with GDPR and data security. 
• Lead the collection of tri-annual performance and annual survey data from portfolio partners, Impetus teams and other stakeholders, including significant liaison with Investment Directors.
• Lead and document processes for auditing data quality and understanding nuances in data (e.g. the different outcomes our portfolio partners target, and the different groups of young people they work with).

2.    Performance reporting, analysis, and presentation

• Support definition of KPIs and measurement scales where relevant.  
• Produce regular performance reports vs. KPIs for key stakeholders: Investment Team, all staff, Investment Committee, SMT, Board, and Impetus’ donors and co-investors. 
• In collaboration with the Investment Director, run our tri-annual ‘portfolio review’ process, incl. data collection from portfolio partners, analyses on performance data, pulling-out key insights and risks, agenda-setting, session-planning, facilitation and follow-up.   
• On an annual basis run more detailed and comprehensive analyses on performance data, including portfolio partner outcomes vs. benchmarks, to inform the focus of our annual review. The Annual Review aims to give a full view of our impact and value for money in the year and seeks to improve our programme of capacity-building support.  
• Produce clear and insightful summary presentations in PowerPoint, for a range of audiences.
• Design and develop tools to help make information more accessible for a range of stakeholders, including external comms.
• Present and communicate data (incl. in ad-hoc reports) to help facilitate discussions, enhance our work, and influence internal and external stakeholders.
• Document and track progress against agreed actions from Annual Review and Portfolio Reviews, including for strategic planning and projects; implementing relevant actions where appropriate.

3.    Leading on key organisational and ad hoc data/performance projects to deepen understanding of Impetus’ and our portfolio partners’ performance and impact

• Support in the development and ongoing review of Investment team and Impetus-wide impact strategy, plus the scoping and planning of projects within this.
• Play a leading role in ongoing efforts to benchmark portfolio partner outcomes and trace the impact of Impetus’ work on charity performance, including with a value for money lens.
• Lead efforts to transfer all portfolio partner performance data and collection onto Salesforce, including advising the Digital team, wireframing, setting up accessible dashboards and supporting change management efforts.
• Lead ad hoc data/performance projects, such as: i) cross-portfolio analyses of portfolio partner income, costs, staffing and EDI metrics, and ii) supporting portfolio partners to upskill data/ impact management capabilities.
• Work closely with Impetus’ Communications team to support efforts to ensure all staff have a strong understanding of our impact, and that of our portfolio partners, and are confident in speaking to it in their respective work (e.g. Philanthropy in pitching, Public Affairs in comms. on our impact/ use in policy work).  
• Be Impetus’ key point of contact for data and impact, providing support, advice and training on data management and analysis for the wider Impetus team where needed, including contributing to digital transformation efforts.

The SIPA may also be asked to support on other workstreams on an ad-hoc basis.

Person specification

Essential

• Passion for drawing insight from data to continually improve performance and impact, with a strong affinity to Impetus’ mission and EDI commitments.
• A background including data analysis, with the ability to produce high-quality outputs to clearly explain findings and tell a meaningful story.
• Highly analytical and numerate:
  • Experience manipulating, processing, and extracting value from sometimes large and nuanced data sets.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience of working with CRM systems (experience with Salesforce a bonus).
• Highly attentive to detail, with a clear approach to auditing own work and analyses, and suggesting process improvements.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills:
  • Able to form productive, trust-based relationships with colleagues and external partners.
  • Experience of tailoring communications and presentations to a range of different audiences (incl. non-technical ones).
  • Experience in facilitating team-wide discussions.
• Strong planning and time management:
  • Able to make right trade-offs or seek timely input from line manager to prioritise work.
  • Ability to lead on organisational projects, taking responsibility for planning, scheduling and monitoring own and others work to meet key deadlines and requirements.
• Displays tenacity and initiative, with a desire to seek out and act on feedback.

Desirable

• An understanding of education or youth employment sectors, and of the outcomes Impetus targets. 
• Experience in running training sessions to improve data literacy across teams.
• Experience of change management (i.e. digital transformation).
• Knowledge and experience of using data presentation tools e.g. Tableau, Power BI or Google Analytics.

About Us

Migrateful is an award-winning UK charity with a mission to support refugees and migrants on their journey to integration and independence by enabling them to teach cookery classes to the public. Since 2017, we have supported 110 Migrateful chefs in teaching over 4,500 classes to more than 52,500 participants. Through our communications, we aim not only to sell our cookery classes but also to contribute to positive narratives about migration in the UK and raise awareness about the experiences of refugees and asylum seekers.

About the Role

You’ll assist the Marketing & Sales Manager in executing dynamic, multi-channel campaigns and delivering engaging content across digital, print, and social media platforms. From capturing in-class media to crafting captivating copy, nurturing our online community, measuring campaign performance, and more, you’ll play a hands-on role in raising awareness of Migrateful’s mission and driving class and voucher sales. This role is perfect for someone creative, organised, and eager to grow their marketing skills in a collaborative, cause-driven team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing Campaigns 

• Supporting the Marketing & Sales Manager with planning, developing, and delivering marketing campaigns across digital, print, and other channels.

• Measuring and reporting on the performance of marketing campaigns.

• Staying up to date with marketing trends through training and industry events.

• Supporting volunteer and staff recruitment by promoting the organisation's mission, culture, and opportunities through strategic partnerships and targeted campaigns.

• Scheduling, posting, and monitoring digital content, including managing the online community.

• Writing engaging copy for various mediums, including social media posts, email campaigns, and website content. Coordinating blog content with input from chefs, the Migrateful community, and other contributors.

• Managing campaign communications (e.g., Lift the Ban) with input from the Marketing & Sales Manager and Co-CEO as needed on social media, newsletters, and website elements.

Design, Media and Website 

• Supporting the Marketing & Sales Manager with the creation of print and digital design assets.

• Assisting with the creation of in-class photo and video content, including capturing and editing.

• Day-to-day website maintenance.

Public Relations and Outreach

• Identifying and managing PR and other awareness-raising opportunities.

• Ensuring the safeguarding of our chefs when liaising with external media.

• Coordinating influencer partnership opportunities.

• Collaborating with the Marketing & Sales Manager and the Sales & Operations Manager to increase corporate cookery class sales through outreach tactics such as cold-calling, emailing, and networking at in-person events.

Other

• Carrying out administrative tasks and ad hoc duties that support the work of the marketing and sales team.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience planning, executing and monitoring digital marketing campaigns

• Strong written skills with the ability to modify content depending on the platform 

• An understanding of key social media platforms and social media scheduling and reporting tools

• A creative flair and confidence in suggesting new content ideas – with an understanding of how these feed into our strategic goals and how these might differ depending on the platform

• An interest in and willingness to stay up to date with social media trends

• Experience creating content for socials – including an ability to create video content using a smartphone and capture photographic content

• Experience gathering and reporting on multi-channel analytics

• An understanding of Mailchimp, Canva, a CRM and WordPress – or equivalent marketing tools

• An eye for design – an ability to work from brand guidelines and how to modify content depending on the medium 

• An interest in staying informed about current affairs, particularly issues affecting refugees and migrants in the UK, is desirable but not essential

This is a hybrid role that requires you to work from our HQ office in Farringdon, London three days a week. Please note that you may be required to attend classes or other events outside your usual working hours. This post is offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract with flexibility on hybrid work at their London Office. Candidates are expected to come into the office in Farringdon 4 times a month at a minimum.

The Head of Policy and Influencing will report directly to the Director of Income Generation and External Affairs and will play a key role in developing and implementing strategies that drive systems change, a core focus of the organisation's five-year strategy (2023-2028). This role involves managing multiple sector partnerships and policy initiatives and working collaboratively with the leadership team, including the CEO, to ensure effective management of critical policy relationships and to advance the organisation's broader objectives. The successful candidate will also engage with key influencers, such as elected officials, government departments, businesses, charity partners, think tanks, and research organisations.

We are seeking a proactive leader with a proven track record in strategic policy development and implementation, a deep understanding of systems change, and strong writing skills to effectively influence policy outcomes. Ideal candidates will have experience securing positive policy changes at both local and national levels, the ability to devise and execute effective strategies, and solid management experience. A strong grasp of political dynamics, including the parliamentary process in the UK, is essential, as well as experience working with and influencing policymakers, including MSPs, Senedd Members, MPs, civil servants, and Ministers.

The British Society for Immunology (BSI) is recruiting a Marketing & Communications Officer to deliver engaging communications to a variety of audiences to drive the reach and influence of the Society’s work.

This role is split equally between supporting activities of the BSI and those of our publishing portfolio. On the BSI side, you will support in the development and delivery our marketing and communications activity through a variety of channels. Activities can include promoting our membership offering to immunologists working in academia, industry and the clinical sector, promoting key activities such as our events or training offerings, and supporting initiatives to raise the importance and influence of immunology. On publishing, marketing activities will be focused on increasing submissions and readership of our official journals, Clinical & Experimental Immunology, Immunotherapy Advances and Discovery Immunology, in particular building the reputation of our newer Open Access journals.

This creative role is a fantastic opportunity for someone with excellent communication and organisational skills and a passion for science, who is looking to build their expertise and experience working on impactful marketing and communications projects in an innovative charity.
