About Love Barton 

Love Barton is a faith based charity established in 2022 to tackle systemic issues that keep people and families in poverty and to release them to flourish in all areas of life, focused on the Barton estate on the outskirts of Oxford. 

The charity originally grew from Barton Community Church and continues to operate in close partnership with this Church. 

About the Role

The focus of the role is to lead Love Barton during the Charity Manager’s maternity leave, managing the existing projects detailed below, as well as working with the Trustees on fundraising. 

Projects

Health & Wellbeing: 

Hear4You is a listening service set up to support people in the community who are struggling emotionally. We receive referrals from our local GP surgery and people are matched with a volunteer listener for up to twelve 1-2-1 sessions. 

We also run an emergency foodbank twice a week in partnership with CEF , and are in the process of setting up a pantry in partnership with Mercy in Action to support 25 struggling families with ongoing food poverty support. This will be delivered by volunteers but will need general oversight from you. 

Your job would be to:

• Recruit, train and support volunteers

• Manage these projects to ensure they run smoothly and safely

Youth:

Know Your Worth is an eight week self esteem course for teenage girls run twice a year for local young people followed by 6-12 months of mentoring. We have a small team of volunteer mentors and a trained volunteer leader who runs the course. 

We are also setting up regular opportunities to gather the girls who have completed the Know Your Worth course for ongoing support. 

Your job would be:

• Support the Know Your Worth Leader (volunteer role) in organising and running our Know Your Worth course for teenage girls, overseeing sign ups, communications with families, safeguarding and health & safety.

• Recruit, train and support volunteer mentors to ensure mentoring programme runs effectively and safely. 

• Develop and manage our monthly/termly sessions for those who have attended a Know Your Worth course

Flourishing Families:

In response to local need, we want to provide support for families before they reach crisis points. We do this through 1-2-1 pastoral support and the Kids Matter Parenting courses as well as hosting seasonal family events and a weekly toddler group that’s run in partnership with Barton Community Church. 

Your job would be:

• To provide and coordinate targeted pastoral care to individual families in need. 

• To organise and deliver a termly, seasonal community event ideally in partnership with other local groups and organisations

Other key tasks/responsibilities 

• Enable the work, relationships and partnerships of Love Barton to continue and, expand the reach, visibility and community integration of the charity 

• Network with other key providers and stakeholders in Barton and attend community meetings to represent Love Barton 

• Work with the trustees to identify funding streams to sustain the role and projects

• Lead all recruitment, training and management of volunteers including ensuring safeguarding training and DBS certificates are up to date 

• Line-manage any sessional staff

• Manage the budgets for each project, evaluating outcomes and supporting the reporting to funders and trustees 

• Meet regularly with the BCC leadership team to ensure a close partnership 

• Attend regular supervision and commit to personal development

Refugee Council is seeking an experienced philanthropy specialist to develop and grow the Refugee Council’s Philanthropy relationships and programme and deliver an ambitious Philanthropy strategy.

This role will be a critical part of the Philanthropy & Partnerships Team and presents an exciting opportunity to grow Refugee Council’s established Philanthropy programme. The role will be responsible for delivering and creating bespoke development plans, supported by engaging cultivation and stewardship activities to secure increased funding from existing and new donors. It will also be a key point of contact for key Major Donors and high-profile supporters, patrons and ambassadors.

The position offers the opportunity to work alongside an engaged and well-connected Senior Management Team, supported by the Head of Philanthropy & Partnerships and a highly regarded and experienced Philanthropy Consultant to make the charity’s ambitions a reality.

To succeed, candidates will have experience of running a Philanthropy/major giving programme, with extensive experience of managing their own pool of donors, as well as a track record of securing five and six figure donations from high net-worth individuals. Overall purpose

The Philanthropy Manager will manage and steward a portfolio of funders and donors – across trusts and foundations, statutory sources and major donors – to secure annual and multi-year gifts in support of Breaking Barriers’ vision. As well as managing relationships with our existing donors there will be a focus on creating new relationships through proactive prospecting and developing a long-term strategic approach to stewardship and relationship development.

You will collaborate with additional fundraisers across Trusts, Statutory, Corporate and Major Gifts to coordinate approaches and maximise opportunities across all functions.

Role Purpose

ShelterBox is searching for an experienced humanitarian professional with previous programme management experience to join our agile and effective International Programmes Department. This is a transformational and impactful role. The successful candidate will manage urgent priority activities and international programmes/projects within a specific country, ensuring we deliver high quality, impactful outcomes at speed and scale for the people we support.

Reporting to the Regional Director, the Programme Manager will support the establishment and management of new and existing emergency and protracted ShelterBox programmes. Aligning with wider regional strategy, the Programme Manager will create and implement a longer-term strategic vision and direction for continuing support within their designated area of responsibility. They will also lead on strategic humanitarian relationships within this area to help maximise ShelterBox’s programme impact and influence.

This role will also work closely with the Programme Quality team, to continue to measure the quality and impact of our work. The Programme Manager will also support a programme funding strategy for their designated area of responsibility, working closely with the Programme Funding team in developing sustainable programmatic funding opportunities.

The role is expected to have a strong focus on Ethiopia and Burkina Faso, with other countries to be determined dependant on both existing portfolio and new emergencies. Regular travel is expected and we expect the successful candidate to be willing and able to undertake this travel.

The role will also encompass high-level relationship building and advocacy with partner organisations to consolidate the reputation and position of ShelterBox within the humanitarian sector.

French language is not an essential skill for this role, but French speaking candidates of level C1 or above will be favourably considered.

· Provide the first point of contact for deployed teams and disaster monitoring on a 24/7 routine and emergency basis as part of a roster.

· Prioritise ‘do no harm’ principles. Ensure those who encounter ShelterBox as a result of our activities are safeguarded from deliberate or inadvertent actions and failings which place them at risk of abuse, sexual exploitation, injury, and any other harm.

· Maintain exacting standards in all aspects of ShelterBox’s activities so that the reputation of the organisation is protected in the view of donors, partners and the people we support.

· Lead a culture which actively promotes improvements in its practices, processes, and outcomes, across all aspects of its work, seeking feedback from all stakeholders.

· Provide timely updates to Regional Director/Deputy Director/International Programmes Director on programme/project delivery and impact.

We are looking for a Catering Manager to join our team who can inspire and empower Companions, through support and training, to create healthy and nutritious meals both in the Community Kitchen and in our Café @ Emmaus. They say an army marches on its stomach and that is certainly the case here at Emmaus.The Community Kitchen provides hot meals and salads for Companions, staff and volunteers and the Café @ Emmaus serves home-made fare for our visitors.

The successful applicant will be part of the management team, led by the Chief Executive and will have key responsibilities within that team. We are looking for someone with a passion to take our Café and Community kitchen to the next level by
offering excellent home made food prepared by Companions using ingredients grown here on site. A friendly nature is a must as well as experience working with different dietary and allergy requirements.

The Research team is at the heart of our efforts to learn what works and put it into practice. We do this by commissioning research (including qualitative research, systematic reviews of intervention evidence and data analysis), and using this research to write and publish guidance across YEF’s sectors of interest.

We would be especially interested to hear from you if:   

• You know a lot about policing and/or youth justice: You know the key ideas and debates, recent policy developments and key people. You’re comfortable talking about policing and/or youth justice with experts. There are many ways to acquire this knowledge. The Senior Research Manager will: 

• Lead the development of evidence-based recommendations in policing.

We are seeking an experienced candidate with a great understanding and knowledge of individual giving, who shows great leadership skills and the ability to collaborate across teams to maximise opportunities to achieve organisational growth.

The role will manage the Donor Acquisition Fundraiser and In-Memory Fundraiser and be responsible for the overall delivery of our individual giving strategy.

As the Individual Giving Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the planning and implementation of our individual giving programme of fundraising and activities, aimed at individuals. It will be the Individual Giving Manager’s responsibility to generate significant income through individual gifts, campaigns and appeals, regular giving, in memoriam giving, lottery and legacies, and to increase activity and income from these sources.

Your primary focus will be on recruiting new donors, retention through a gold standard supporter journey and income growth for these vital areas of fundraising, all while leading a dedicated team. You will be responsible for delivering innovative and creative appeals as well as supporting the fundraisers responsible for in-memory and donor acquisition to achieve their targets and objectives.

Individual Giving is a growing income stream for Birmingham Hospice, and this have been recognised by the Executive Team who are investing in this area, in particular regular giving and legacies.

Responsibilites

• Develop plans for housing, office and maintenance priorities, operational procedures, security, expenditures, etc.
• Coordinate centre services personnel and make staffing recommendations. 
• Supervise purchases of materials and supplies. 
• Supervise/carry out maintenance of buildings, vehicles and equipment. 
• Coordinate construction projects involving third party contractors. 
• Circulate information regarding operation of facilities, vehicles and equipment and maintain records of usage. 
• Handle correspondence related to centre services and operations. 
• Assist in planning and execution of logistical arrangements for workshops, seminars and conferences.

In this role you will have the opportunity to oversee the production process of products of all shapes and sizes in line with our digital first approach, making sure everything is true to our brand, connects with our audiences, and is inclusive and accessible to all. You will also use your skills to lead on communication activities for Elrha’s events to showcase the best of our work, and the work of those we fund. 

You will be given a high degree of autonomy in your work, so to be successful, you will need to be flexible, bold, and work well in a constantly changing environment. You will have strong organisation skills and experience of managing a varied workload while paying attention to the tiny details. 

Your application will need to demonstrate: 

• Experience of delivering high quality, impactful, and inclusive digital communications 

• An understanding of digital strategies, channels, and how different audiences engage with content 

• Excellent design judgement and attention to detail 

• Proven ability to lead and champion organisational branding, adhering to the highest standards of accessibility

• An interest in the humanitarian or development sectors, ideally demonstrated through academic qualifications and/or paid or voluntary work.

Experience of production project management and supporting high level event communications activities would be an advantage.

John Lyon’s Charity is delighted to be recruiting for a Grants Manager to join its dynamic Grants Team. This is an exciting time to join the Charity as it embarks on a new chapter of our strategic objectives in grant giving. The Grants Manager will be responsible for their own portfolio of grants as well as supporting the Grants Directorate with the development and execution of the Charity’s strategic objectives to maximise the benefit of the Charity’s funding.

The Grants Manager will be responsible for end-to-end grant-making; assessing applications, making recommendations and monitoring of a portfolio of grants. The grants will be broad in range from smaller, single year grants under the School Holiday Activity Fund to multi-year, large grants within the Open Grants Programme. The role holder will work closely with other members of the Grants Team, including the Directors, to support learning, develop special initiatives and contribute to the creation of policy and processes. The role will suit someone with previous grant-making experience who is seeking to develop their expertise in place-based grant-making and/or the CYP sector. Given the nature of the existing portfolio, experience of working with cultural organisations and education settings would be a particular benefit.
