Job Purpose
Contribute to the implementation of the University of Glasgow’s fundraising and alumni engagement strategies by building compelling propositions and identifying, cultivating and soliciting prospective donors with capacity to give from £10K to £1M, meeting targets for activity and revenue.
Main Duties
1. Contribute to the development and execution of the University’s fundraising strategy and particularly for the programme to secure gifts of between £10K and £1M. Assist in the development of the complex action plans to deliver the strategy.
2. Keep abreast of developments in leading major gift cultivation and solicitation practice to ensure all work is subject to continuous improvement.
3. Lead the development of relationships with key alumni and other potential donors by managing a pool of potential donors. Devise and execute bespoke programmes of involvement and communication that lead to major gifts (e.g involvement in alumni programmes, invitations to prestigious/intimate University events, devising visits to campus and individual meetings with academic staff and University leadership).
4. Both solo, and with other staff, use professional expertise to deliver a programme of proactively meeting with potential donors to understand their interests and motivations, set them on a path to major gift support and solicit gifts in person (mostly five, but also six and seven figure gifts). The post-holder will need to represent the interests of the entire University in developing these relationships from research and teaching to widening participation, entrepreneurship and civic programmes. Conduct a target number of face-to-face meetings per annum.
5. In collaboration with academic colleagues, articulate convincingly the University’s priority themes and projects for philanthropic support. Develop powerful case statements, project descriptions and tailored proposals for presentation to potential major donors. Liaise with beneficiary areas to ensure the object of any proposal is properly costed and can be delivered.
6. Drawing on specialist knowledge, provide advice to prospective major donors (whether proactively engaged or approaching the University independently) on how to structure and best effect their giving intentions.
7. Negotiate gift agreements, managing donor and academic expectations to balance the donor’s intent with priorities and capacity of the beneficiary area to deliver and ensuring this is communicated appropriately to donors.
8. Using detailed knowledge, use the University’s alumni and donor database (Raiser’s Edge), to ensure relationships with potential donors are recorded and tracked so a complete record of the relationship is maintained. Analyse progress and provide relevant reports on activity.
9. Build and share thorough understanding of University priority projects for philanthropic support. The postholder may be required to become the expert on a particular project, School, College or beneficiary area and to brief fundraising and other colleagues appropriately.
10. Provide specialist advice to academic and other colleagues on individual potential donor relationships, on fundraising and alumni/donor engagement generally and on its operation at the University of Glasgow.
11. Be prepared to undertake projects appropriate to the grade of the role – including line management - but that might fall outside its direct remit as the Director, Head of Philanthropy and/or Vice Principal External Relations may advise.

You will design, coordinate, and oversee the actions required to achieve this ambitious goal. About the role:
Reporting to the Community Fundraising Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading on all Community Fundraising within their geographical area.
You will be responsible for developing and growing income and engagement within a defined region whilst also delivering first class account management to existing and new fundraisers.

Responsibilities
Strategic Communication and Transformation:

This job is to work as an advisor to Neurodiverse Connection. The person in this job will help us hear from other people with a learning disability. The project is to meet and hear from people who have been in mental health hospitals. We will be finding out about what went well and what could have been better.
We want to make sure that our information, conversations and activities are easy to understand for people with a learning disability. You’ll be helping us to get it right.
Sometimes you will be helping us write questions, sometimes you will be meeting people in hospital to find out about their experience. Sometimes you might come to workshops to help us run them well. We also want your help to think about what people tell us. You will help us tell people what we have found out in a way that is easy to understand.
We really want to hear from some people who don’t often get the chance to say what they think. We will be meeting with some people to do workshops and activities. We will be meeting other people online. You can work with us to help us make this interesting and easy to understand for people with a learning disability.
The work time is not fixed for this job and working days will change across the month. The person will be paid for half a day each week. This will mean that the person might work a full day one week and not work the next week, but that payment will always be the same at the end of each month. We will agree working days and time with the person.

Visitor Experience Officer - Fixed-Term

We are looking to recruit our seasonal team of Visitor Experience Officers to help deliver the visitor experience and maximise support for nature conservation through encouraging membership of the RSPB at the Loch Garten Nature Centre.
Located in the heart of Abernethy reserve, surrounded by Caledonian pine forest and in the shadow of the mighty Cairngorms, the Nature Centre is one of the RSPB’s most high-profile visitor facilities, with a legacy of delivering a top-quality visitor experience spanning over sixty-five years.
The Nature Centre is a 7-day-a-week seasonal facility (April to October) with a visitor experience focussed on Abernethy reserve, in particular the Caledonian pine forest and the species which live there, as well as the work of the Cairngorms Connect partnership.
As a Loch Garten Visitor Experience Officer, you will be part of a dedicated and enthusiastic team, maintaining and delivering the first-class visitor attraction, guaranteeing a high quality, on brand, visitor experience for all and maintaining exceptional customer care standards. You will also maximise support for nature through encouraging membership of the RSPB, for which you will receive full training.
You will occasionally be asked to patrol the local trails in the evening with a colleague, to engage with visitors who may be wild camping, ensuring the forest and local communities are protected from visitor impacts, including wildfire.
We are looking for three six-month contracts starting as soon as possible, one of which will be extended for an additional two months, and one four-month contract starting at the beginning of May.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver a top-class experience for all visitors, ensuring everyone has positive and memorable contact with the RSPB, including giving talks and occasionally helping on guided walks
- Ensure the efficient and smooth day-to-day running of the Centre, facilitating an exceptional visitor environment and delivering first class customer care for all visitors
- Promote RSPB membership to visitors and recruit new members, ensuring stringent fundraising standards are met

The Bumblebee Conservation Trust (the Trust) is looking for a full-time Senior Marketing Campaigns Officer, 10-month maternity cover.
The Trust’s vision is of a world where bumblebees are thriving and valued by everyone. The Senior Marketing Campaigns Officer will play a key part in inspiring people and organisations to take action for our precious bumblebees to help us achieve this vision. Your primary role will be to oversee and advise on our campaign and marketing work, with a particular focus on major campaigns, including our ongoing ‘Bee the Change’ digital campaign which aims to start new supporters on a journey with the Trust.
You will be well organised and self-motivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills that allow you to convey complex information in a clear and engaging way. You will have experience in design, copywriting, working to brand guidelines and using digital tools, including website editing, evaluation and analytics tools.

This is a full-time post for 35 hours per week. Some overtime work may be required and a flexitime system is in place.
This post will be employed on a fixed term until February 2026 based at the Trust’s office in Stirling/ home-based/ hybrid between the Trust’s office in Stirling and home-working.
