The Role

As an Assistant Director Data and Insight, you will be leading a team of analysts and developers to transform and overhaul our approach to working with data, helping to gain meaningful insight and achieve strategic ambitions.

Green New Deal Rising is looking for a Scotland Campaigner who can lead our campaigning in Scotland in the run up to the 2026 Holyrood elections.

Green New Deal Rising is building a movement of young people from every part of the UK to fight for a response to the climate crisis that totally transforms our economy to deliver a safe climate and fairer society. We believe in people power, and through a combination of disrupting the political system and reaching into our communities, we plan to make the Green New Deal an era-defining issue. Over the last few years, we have built our movement in Scotland, running the SNP: No More Talk campaign until Spring 2024.

This year, we’re pushing harder than ever to build people and political power to win a Green New Deal. We’re ramping up our Scotland campaign in the run up to the 2026 Holyrood elections, where we will make our generation’s voice heard - climate justice must be the number one priority for a new Scottish government. 

So, we’re now looking for a politically-savvy campaigner in Scotland to deliver this work. This role will lead our campaigning outputs in Scotland, develop our campaign strategy and organise our local teams to take sustained action over the next 12 months leading up to the election. You will be an excellent communicator, with a hunger to get into the news cycle and change the agenda and a good understanding of Scottish politics and devolution. You will be a champion of people power and excited about engaging and building relationships with a wide range of people, from volunteers to MSPs.

About the Role

Humanists International has another separate entity based in the US. This role will be a part of the UK operations team but will collaborate with the US finance team occasionally when it’s required, for example, during the audit period. Both UK and US finance teams are managed by the same Director of Finance and Operations who is based in London. 

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can provide excellent finance and administrative support to the small, predominantly home-based team. We’re seeking someone who is personable, highly organised, has attention to detail and is keen to take initiative and learn new skills. Onboarding training will be provided, but we would like you to demonstrate transferable skills. 

You will work on a wide variety of tasks which will include bookkeeping and bank reconciliations, being the first point of contact for the organisation, as well as providing general administrative support to the team. You will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively across a diverse international team.

This is a full-time or part-time with a minimum of 4 days/week (0.8 FTE), permanent position, which is predominantly home-based but does require the attendance of in-person events such as the General Assembly and Team Building. • Taking charge of the day-to-day financial activities and office administration of the organisation.

• Being the first point of contact of the organisation. Managing office inbox, answering office calls and sorting out the letters.

• Attending online board meetings (four times a year on Saturdays) and investment committee meetings (twice a year on weekdays between 5-7pm) to take meeting minutes. Board meetings normally take 3 hours and investment committee meetings take 45 minutes. These meetings are usually planned 6-8 months in advance.  TOILs will be provided when the meeting is held outside your normal working hours.

• Assisting the CEO with board papers and circulating them to board members before board meetings.

• Arranging flights and accommodations for the CEO and board members to attend in-person meetings when required.

• Arranging meetings for the CEO when required.

• Assisting staff and board members with queries on finance or administrative matters.

• Any other appropriate duties.

Essential Skills

• Accounting, finance, or economics qualification.

• A minimum of two years’ experience in bookkeeping and administration roles. 

• Experience using financial software. e.g. Quickbooks, Xero, Sage or equivalent.

• Understanding of the chart of accounts structure, cash/accrual accounting basis.

• Understanding of the expense claim process.

• Experience preparing the budget. (Not necessarily the whole organisation’s budget, but specific section(s), for example, travel costs and fixed-costs related budget lines would be essential.)

• Excellent organisation, time management and multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritise and plan a busy workload. 

• Self-motivated and able to meet all deadlines.

• Supportive, collaborative and able to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Grants & Institutional Fundraising

• Undertaking research and identify eligible grant opportunities

• Identify and research new opportunities for funding partnerships with trusts and foundations and other potential new donors / partners

The Role

This role can be homebased or hybrid, dependent on proximity to an office. You will need to be based within two hours travel time of central London in order to regularly engage with Parliamentary and other key stakeholders face to face.

We’re looking for an experienced communications and marketing professional to help us spread the word about the levels of low literacy and numeracy experienced by people across the UK. Currently, over 70% of people in prisons either can’t read, or struggle to. Even more struggle with their numeracy. 

Shannon Trust supports people in the criminal justice system, and in the wider community, to learn to read and improve their numeracy skills. The work you will be promoting makes day to day life safer for the learner, their families, and the wider community. It provides more opportunities for work and education for the learner, helps break the intergenerational cycle of low literacy and numeracy, and reduces re-offending.

Working closely with colleagues across the charity, your responsibilities will include:

• Promoting the work of Shannon Trust, internally and externally, through a variety of communications platforms including print and digital media, video and radio
• Managing the day-to-day monitoring and development of our social media channels and website
• Developing strong relationships with press and staying on the lookout for opportunities to promote Shannon Trust
• Delivering a great experience to our supporters, helping us recruit new supporters and retain existing ones

ABOUT THE ROLE 

Role overview 

As Operations Executive, you will collaborate closely with the COO to enhance our operational efficiency and ensure seamless cross-organisational progress. In this key position, you will be responsible for monitoring and advancing our objectives, fostering collaboration, and optimizing processes to achieve our strategic goals, as well as providing first line HR and operations support to the whole of Now Teach. 

This role will involve working across several projects/services at a time, and the priorities of the role will adapt and develop over time depending on the needs and priorities of the organisation and where the support is needed most. If you are super organised, love coordination, communication and you have a keen eye for detail, this could be the job for you. 

In this role you will……  

Organisational effectiveness 

• Working with the COO, create tools and processes to track progress against organisational objectives, as well as designing and running the annual organisational objective setting process, in close consultation with the COO and other key staff members. 
• Proactively identify and mitigate cross-departmental risks to ensure timely and effective mitigation. 
• Identify and propose suggestions for improvement to cross organisational systems, processes and ways of working. 
• Own the policy update log and process, engaging the team and bringing in subject matter experts as required. 
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and agile ways of working, including defining our approach to project management. 
• Provide reporting and analysis as required by the COO and CEO. 
• Ensure all key organisational dates and meetings are booked and clearly communicated with backwards planning of critical milestones. 

People coordination and support 

• Lead the onboarding, offboarding, training, and development of all Now Teach staff members, continuously enhancing these processes to align with organisational values. 
• Develop our people processes and policies in a way which is aligned to our values and enhances the experience of all staff members. 
• Act as a point of contact on general HR/People and operational queries for the Now Teach team and administer relevant people files and our employee database (SafeHR). 
• Support in the recruitment of diverse and effective staff, ensuring an effective recruitment process is in place for hiring managers to follow. 
• Manage and analyse our quarterly staff survey, making suggestions for how we can improve the staff experience. 
• Ensure there is an up-to-date record of all contracts and agreements with contractors and freelancers.
• Provide support to the payroll process as necessary. 

General support and administration 

• Own the scheduling and planning of Team and collaboration days, securing and booking meeting rooms and locations and cohering an internal team to plan an engaging employee experience.
• Coordinate IT support services with our outsourced provider, ensuring the smooth day to day running of the organisation
