Responsibilities of our Senior Prospect Research Officer
- The prospect research officer will join a dynamic team contributing to the overall growth of our Partnerships and Philanthropic income and sits within the newly formed Research and Engagement team.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for providing detailed knowledge and insight on donors and potential sources of philanthropic funds. Underpinning the team's ability to increase opportunities to build successful donor relationships alongside ethical gift acceptance processes, pipeline, and information management.

- We sit within the Marketing & Income Generation directorate.
- Our team is responsible for ensuring direct fundraisers are equipped to make compelling asks and steward donors. We cover prospect research, KPI and pipeline reporting, high value events, stewardship and engagement asset creation, and cross team operational support.

- Significant experience of charity fundraising within a high value giving team and prospect research using a variety of sources and methods
- Extensive experience of developing strong relationships with key stakeholders across philanthropy and corporate fundraising teams

Summary of role:
· The Fundraising Manager is responsible for raising income for Variety in the Midlands area with a focus on unrestricted income. This entails supporting, managing, and developing a wide range of existing and new contacts, events and charitable activities.
· To drive and develop new fundraising opportunities, events and maximising regional income across all areas of activity.
· To work closely with Variety’s Midlands Committees to maximise income and ensure successful planning and implementation of regional fundraising programmes, events, and activities.
· To work closely with Variety’s other fundraiser managers to help achieve overall organisational goals and income.

About the role
We're looking for a Virtual Fundraising Officer with strong project management skills, a data-driven mindset, and a passion for innovation to join the Virtual Fundraising Team.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for planning, delivering, and growing our portfolio of virtual fundraising events, engaging thousands of supporters each year. Job Purpose
Provide administrative, events and communications support to assist in the delivery of legacy and trust fundraising including the management of legacy gifts and the management of relationships with donors’ families, executors and legacy pledgers.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Secure and schedule appointments with legacy pledgers, prospective pledgers, Trustees and Trust Administrators for all members of the Legacies and Trust teams. Draft meeting plans where necessary, book and arrange travel, and prepare and compile briefing packs with meeting locations, directions etc. Use own judgment to resolve any problems because of last-minute changes to appointments and travel arrangements. This will involve dealing with influential people external to the University including prospective and existing donors.
2. Use Raiser’s Edge to maintain accurate records and manage data relating to legacy pledgers and donors and their gifts, ensuring that all information is up-to-date and correct. Make judgements on the best way to reflect meetings and relevant information on the database, ensuring a complete record of the relationship with the University is maintained and that privacy regulations are complied with. Use expertise to suggest improvements to procedures.
3. Assist in the process of identifying and managing segments of the alumni/donor database from which potential legacy pledgers could be drawn. Interrogate databases and spreadsheets to support stewardship, events and fundraising and run legacy activity reports in liaison with Planning & Development Operations staff to monitor progress.
4. Maintain an action timeline to ensure all legacy administration and stewardship activity is completed efficiently and ensure legacy fundraisers maintain efficient contact and follow up, “managing up” where required to ensure actions are completed.
5. Work with gift management staff to ensure legacy gifts are correctly allocated to the appropriate fund.
6. Co-ordinate arrangements for events for the 1451 Society of legacy pledgers, including drafting invitations, liaising with guests and venues, compiling materials such as information packs, presentations, signage and badges. Ensure the correct people receive the correct invitation and that an accurate picture of invitations and attendees is maintained and recorded on Raiser’s Edge database.
7. Support the delivery of selected follow up actions for legacy pledgers or prospective pledgers, for example co-ordinating campus visits involving academic departments and the University’s Senior Management Team, liaising across the University and with donors to compile schedules.
8. Support the communication strategy for legacy fundraising and stewardship by writing and editing communication materials, sourcing quotes and content and liaising with bequest pledgers and executors. With guidance, draft, upload and ensure the maintenance of content for the University’s web pages on legacy giving in liaison with Development & Alumni and Marketing colleagues. (CMS T4, training will be given).
9. Act as liaison with the Regular Giving Team and Digital team to provide legacy information to support mass mailings, telephone fundraising and legacy communications on social media.
10. Act as first point of contact for enquiries related to legacies and, when appropriate, act in the place of the Legacy Gift Manager / Philanthropy Officer - Legacies when they are absent or unavailable by responding to queries in a timely and efficient manner to maintain the smooth running of the operations.
11. Provide the Strategic Philanthropy Manager (Legacies and Trusts), Trusts and Foundations Manager and Philanthropy Officer-Trusts with administrative support as and when required to maximise income from Trusts and Foundations. This may include producing gift acknowledgements, proof reading of applications, formatting of applications, coordinating information and assisting in the submission of applications to Trusts and Foundations as and when appropriate .
12. Keep general administrative procedures up to date, including drafting correspondence, opening mail, photocopying and filing as well as arranging catering and supporting visits with donors.
13. Act as a purchasing officer as required.
14. Participate fully as a member of the Development & Alumni and External Relations teams, ensuring strong links and good working relationships.
15. Be prepared to undertake projects appropriate to the grade of the role but that might fall outside its direct remit of as the line manager, Director and/or Vice Principal External Relations may advise. Pratham is one of the largest and most respected education charities in India. We developed a model that can teach a child to read and do basic maths in as little as 30 days for £14. We also have preschool, vocational and women's education programmes. We work closely with JPAL who have run a number of RCTs on our work, and it was also recomended as just one of three smart buys by the What Works Hub for Global Education.
We have strong support from the UK Indian diaspora and are in a period of significant growth, having tripled in size in three years. We now raise £1.5m a year and are ambitious to at least triple again.
While you will work in a small, fully remote team daily, you will be part of the global Pratham network. The team in India has over 6,000 staff, and they raise $28m locally. Pratham USA has 14 chapters and produces around 12 galas annually, contributing to its $30m income. The Senior Grants Manager is a key strategic role focused on securing large grants for Pratham’s flagship Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) program and vocational training work in India, while also supporting Pratham International’s expanding global initiatives.
You will play a vital role in building meaningful relationships with institutional donors, trusts, and foundations across the UK and Europe. With a strong evidence base underpinning our programs and global recognition of Pratham’s impact, this role offers significant scope for both growth and influence.

Myeloma UK is looking for a motivated and highly pro-active Trusts and Grants Officer to join our Philanthropy team within the wider Fundraising directorate. We welcome applications from people with prior experience or transferable skills who want to explore trusts and grants fundraising and/or fundraising within the health sector. The successful candidate will have a passion for writing, excellent organisational, presentation, communication and record-keeping skills, with an ability to understand and interpret financial data. The post holder will need to be self-motivated and a team player, with flexibility and a willingness to develop and expand the role. In this exciting position, you’ll have the opportunity to draft compelling proposals, identify and cultivate relationships with grant making organisations, and secure gifts ranging from £100 to £10,000.
Experience of fundraising from charitable trusts and foundations, building project budgets and the use of the Raisers Edge CRM system as well as knowledge of prospective funders within the trust and foundation and corporate sectors would be advantageous, but not essential.
About the role
Myeloma UK has an ambitious plan for income growth. We launched a new organisational strategy in 2024 and will launch our new research strategy in mid-2025. We’re making amazing progress in the research and treatment of myeloma – but we need to go further, faster. This position will play a critical role securing grants of up to £10K from trusts, foundations, and grant funders for a range of innovative and life-changing programmes – including patient and family support, research and advocacy. The role will work closely with the Senior Trusts and Grants Officer, who leads on the medium and large grants programme, and income from pharmaceutical partners.
The post holder will deliver the grant process from start-to-finish including administration, research, and managing and growing a pipeline of small trusts. You will work with colleagues from across the charity to build high quality proposals and develop reports for funders. You will also work directly with funders to understand their priorities and offer excellent stewardship.
